Borase — Rare Refinable Metal Mining in Star Citizen
Borase is a rare metal obtained by ship mining across the Stanton, Pyro and Nyx systems and sells for roughly 25,000 aUEC per SCU once refined. This service mines Borase ore, runs it through refining and delivers the finished material or its aUEC value to your account.
What You Get
- The material: the ordered quantity of refined Borase, or its aUEC value.
- Refining handled: ore processed at a refinery, not delivered as raw rock.
- No ship needed: the mining fleet is provided.
What Borase Is
Borase is a rare, highly thermally conductive metal refined from Borase ore. In lore it forms through cosmic ray spallation and appears most often in younger star systems. Mechanically it sits in the upper value bracket of refinable metals and is found in asteroids and ore deposits rather than on the surface.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Rare |
| Acquisition | Ship mining only |
| Refinable | Yes — refines into Borase |
| Density | 4.5 g/cc |
| Systems | Stanton, Pyro, Nyx |
| Deposit box sizes | 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 24 and 32 SCU |
Reading the Mining Stats
Four numbers decide how a Borase rock behaves under a mining laser. Together they explain why this material is easy to find and easy to lose.
| Stat | Value | What it means at the rock |
|---|---|---|
| Signature | 4,000 | Strong scanner return — Borase deposits are picked up at long range, so prospecting time is low |
| Resistance | 0.3 | Low resistance; the rock takes very little laser power to move toward fracture |
| Instability | 40 | Moderate instability; the optimal charge window drifts, and low resistance means overshooting it happens fast |
| Quality | 245–1000 | Wide yield range — two rocks of the same size can differ several times over in actual Borase content |
The practical consequence is that Borase punishes heavy laser power. A rock that fractures early scatters, and the wide quality range means a poorly handled high-quality deposit costs far more than a wasted average one.
Ore, Refined Metal and Price
Borase exists in two states, and only one of them is worth the trip.
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Mine | Borase ore is extracted from asteroids or ore deposits by ship mining |
| 2. Refine | Ore is processed at a refinery; this costs both time and aUEC and determines the final yield |
| 3. Sell | Refined Borase reaches roughly 25,000 aUEC per SCU as of Alpha 4.9 |
Selling raw ore skips step two and leaves a substantial part of the value behind. The refining stage is where a Borase run is actually profitable.
Why Borase Needs a Ship
Borase is flagged for ship mining only. It cannot be gathered by hand or with a ROC, which rules out the entry-level mining routes. A run requires a mining vessel in the Prospector or MOLE class, a refinery cycle, and cargo capacity to move the refined output to a market that pays for it. That combination — vessel, refining time and hauling — is the real cost of the material, not the mining itself.
How the Service Runs
Mining is carried out manually on live servers, with VPN encryption matched to your region and legit gameplay throughout. Delivery scales with the ordered quantity; larger orders run across multiple refining cycles rather than a single session.
- Material: the ordered quantity of refined Borase, or its aUEC equivalent.
- Full chain covered: mining, refining and hauling handled end to end.
- No requirements on you: no mining ship, refinery cycle or cargo run needed.
- Account: a Star Citizen account with a Game Package.
- Cargo: enough cargo capacity if you take delivery as material rather than aUEC.
- Note: commodity prices shift between patches and by trade terminal.
