Onyxia's Lair returns as the opening 40-player raid in World of Warcraft: Forever. Unlike Hyjal Summit and Barrow Deeps, the raid contains only one boss: Onyxia.

WoW Forever uses fixed raid sizes rather than Flex and one consistent difficulty instead of separate Normal, Heroic, and Mythic modes.

Onyxia's Lair Tier 2 Loot

One of the main reasons to run Onyxia's Lair is its Tier 2 head-slot loot. The current WoW Forever database lists the following level 60 Tier 2 helms as Onyxia drops:

Head of Onyxia — starts Onyxia's trophy quest and leads to a choice of powerful rewards.
Vis'kag the Bloodletter — rare one-handed sword.
Shard of the Scale — rare trinket.
Ancient Cornerstone Grimoire — caster off-hand.
Onyxia Hide Backpack — 18-slot bag.

Final stats, tuning, drop rates, and the complete Forever loot table may still change before the raid opens.

Head of Onyxia Rewards

The Head of Onyxia currently remains in the Forever database as a quest-starting item. Turning it in allows the character to choose one of three rewards:

Onyxia Chase Item

WoW Forever is designed around more horizontal raid progression, and Blizzard has stated that every raid boss is planned to have a rare Chase Item. Because Onyxia is the only boss in this raid, her final Chase Item can become one of the main reasons to repeat Onyxia's Lair after the first kill.

The final Forever-specific Chase Item has not yet been officially identified, so it will be added here once its live source is confirmed.

Loot priority does not create or guarantee a drop. It determines priority for eligible items that actually drop during the raid and can be assigned or traded under the live WoW Forever loot rules.

Piloted: where available, the Onyxia kill is completed on your character according to the selected service conditions.
