Onyxia's Lair is a level 60, single-boss raid located in Dustwallow Marsh. The encounter is one of the first three raids available in World of Warcraft: Forever and is especially important for Tier 2 head pieces, iconic weapons and accessories, the Head of Onyxia quest item and the Conqueror of the Lair Legacy Challenge.

All eligible loot assigned to your character remains yours. If additional loot-priority options are available in the configurator, select them before checkout to define how eligible drops are distributed during the run.

Drakefire Amulet Is Required to Enter Onyxia's Lair

Every character entering Onyxia's Lair must complete the faction-specific attunement and obtain the Drakefire Amulet.

The amulet only needs to be in your inventory; it does not need to be equipped during the raid. Without it, your character cannot enter Onyxia's Lair.

Alliance and Horde complete different quest chains, but both paths eventually lead to the same raid-access item. The attunement involves high-level questing and dungeon objectives, including progression through Blackrock content.

If your character is not attuned yet, complete the requirement before your scheduled run or use our separate WoW Forever Onyxia Attunement Boost to obtain the required Drakefire Amulet.

WoW Forever Onyxia's Lair Loot

Onyxia is a one-boss raid, but her loot table contains several high-value level 60 rewards. This makes the raid useful not only for the first clear but also for repeat weekly runs when you are targeting Tier 2, weapons, trinkets or other specific upgrades.

The main loot categories include:

• Tier 2 class helms;
• weapons;
• trinkets;
• jewelry and cloaks;
• bags and utility items;
• the Head of Onyxia quest item;
• other eligible raid drops.

A raid completion guarantees the Onyxia kill, not a specific random item. Loot priority only applies to eligible items that actually drop and can be distributed to your character under the active raid loot rules.

Tier 2 Helms from Onyxia

One of the strongest reasons to repeat Onyxia's Lair is its Tier 2 head-slot loot. Each original class has a corresponding Tier 2 helm in Onyxia's loot pool.

If your main objective is the Tier 2 helm, select the appropriate armor or Tier priority option when it is available for your run. Priority improves your position for eligible drops but cannot force the game to generate the item.

Notable Onyxia Weapons, Trinkets and Rewards

Onyxia's loot table extends beyond Tier 2. Several iconic rewards make repeat clears valuable even after obtaining your class helm.

• Vis'kag the Bloodletter — a level 60 one-handed sword dropped by Onyxia.
• Shard of the Scale — a notable raid trinket.
• Ancient Cornerstone Grimoire — an off-hand caster item.
• Onyxia Hide Backpack — an 18-slot bag.
• Head of Onyxia — begins the faction-specific Onyxia trophy quest.

Because these are random raid drops, none of them should be treated as guaranteed by the base kill unless a specific guaranteed or priority condition is explicitly shown in the product options.

Head of Onyxia and Quest Rewards

The Head of Onyxia begins a level 60 faction quest after the boss is defeated.

The quest leads to a choice between three notable rewards:

• Onyxia Tooth Pendant
• Dragonslayer's Signet
• Onyxia Blood Talisman

If Head of Onyxia priority is offered for your raid, select it before checkout. The item is unique and tied to its quest progression, so eligibility should be confirmed for the character receiving it.

Conqueror of the Lair Legacy Point

Defeating Onyxia completes the Conqueror of the Lair Legacy Challenge and awards 1 Legacy Point if your account has not already completed that challenge.

This makes an Onyxia kill relevant even for players who are not currently chasing a specific gear drop. The boss contributes directly to WoW Forever's account-wide horizontal progression system.

Loot Priority for Onyxia Runs

Available loot conditions are shown in the product configurator. Depending on the current raid setup, additional priority options may be offered for armor, Tier pieces or a broader selection of eligible loot.

Priority is not a drop guarantee. Onyxia must first drop an eligible item, and the item must be assignable to your character under the live loot rules.

Self-Play or Piloted Onyxia Raid

Choose the play method available in the configurator:

• Self-Play: you play your own character and take your place inside our organized 40-player raid.
• Pilot: an assigned player completes the scheduled raid on your character under the selected service conditions.

Self-Play is the best fit if you want to experience the encounter yourself while avoiding the work of finding and coordinating 39 other players.

How the Onyxia Raid Boost Works

1. Select EU or US.
2. Choose your realm type.
3. Select Self-Play or Pilot.
4. Add any available loot-priority options.
5. Confirm your character is level 60 and attuned.
6. Complete checkout and coordinate your raid time.
7. Join the organized 40-player group.
8. Defeat Onyxia and receive the rewards available under your selected loot conditions.

Onyxia's Lair becomes available on December 9, 2026. Raid completion can begin once Blizzard opens the instance on live servers.

Prepare Your Character Before the Run

Your character must be level 60 and carry the Drakefire Amulet before entering the raid. Blizzard also recommends preparing for significant Fire damage during Onyxia's three-phase encounter.

If you still need raid access, complete the Onyxia Attunement Boost before the scheduled run. If your character has not yet reached the level cap, the WoW Forever Leveling Boost can bring it to the required level separately.

Choose your region, realm type and play method, make sure your character has the required Drakefire Amulet, and reserve your place in the organized 40-player raid. Defeat Onyxia for the raid completion, a chance at Tier 2 and other valuable loot, and the Conqueror of the Lair Legacy Point.
