LoL Placement Matches Boost for Your Starting Rank

LoL Placement Matches Boost is a ranked service for completing the provisional games that determine your starting position on the League of Legends ladder.

In the current Ranked system, players complete 5 placement matches before receiving their starting rank. The result depends on more than a simple win count: Riot also considers matchmaking rating, the strength of the opponents you face and previous Ranked performance when applicable.

You can order all five placements or only the remaining games if you have already started the series. Select your previous rank and required number of matches before checkout so the order can be configured correctly.

How LoL Placement Matches Work in 2026

League of Legends currently uses five provisional Ranked games to establish your starting rank after a ranked reset. These placements are primarily relevant when you begin a new ranked year or enter Ranked for the first time.

Ranked progress now continues across the seasons within the same ranked year, so players do not need a completely new placement series every time a new seasonal theme begins.

After all five provisional games are completed, the account receives its starting rank and normal Ranked progression continues from that point.

What Determines Your LoL Placement Rank?

Placement results are important, but the final starting position is not calculated from wins alone.

Riot can take several factors into account when placing an account:

• Placement Match Results: wins and losses during the five provisional games;
• Previous Ranked Performance: your rank and performance from the previous ranked year when available;
• MMR: the account's internal matchmaking rating;
• Opponent Strength: the skill level of the players matched against the account;
• Normal MMR for New Ranked Players: accounts entering Ranked for the first time can have their Normal-game matchmaking history considered.

For this reason, two accounts that finish placements with the same win-loss record can still receive different starting ranks.

Why Your Previous Rank Matters

If the account played Ranked previously, select the correct previous tier when placing the order. Riot uses existing matchmaking information when calculating the account's new starting position.

A previously ranked Gold account and a previously ranked Diamond account should not be treated as identical placement orders even if both currently show as unranked.

Using the correct previous rank also helps us assign an appropriate player and calculate the placement order correctly.

Placement Matches for First-Time Ranked Accounts

Placement Matches are also required when an eligible account enters League of Legends Ranked for the first time.

For accounts with no previous Ranked history, Riot can use the account's existing Normal-game MMR as part of the placement process. Your starting position therefore still depends on previous matchmaking history rather than only the five visible placement results.

Before starting placements, the account must first meet the current requirements for Ranked access:

• Account Level 30;
• At least 20 owned champions;
• 10 completed Swiftplay or Normal Draft games.

Order 1 to 5 Remaining Placement Matches

You do not need to purchase the full series if some placement games have already been completed.

The order can be configured for the number of provisional matches still remaining on your account:

• 1 Placement Match;
• 2 Placement Matches;
• 3 Placement Matches;
• 4 Placement Matches;
• All 5 Placement Matches.

Before checkout, verify how many placement games remain. If you play additional Ranked matches after ordering but before the service starts, notify support so the order can be adjusted correctly.

Wins During LoL Placement Matches

Winning placement games is valuable because each result contributes to the account's starting Ranked position and underlying matchmaking rating.

However, a specific final rank should not be guaranteed from a fixed number of wins. The same 4–1 or 5–0 placement result can lead to different starting ranks on accounts with different previous ranks and MMR.

During placements, defeats do not produce the standard visible LP loss that applies after placements are complete. A loss still affects the placement process and MMR, so every game remains important.

Maximum Starting Rank After Placements

League of Legends limits how high an account can initially be placed. Under Riot's current system, the highest possible starting placement is Diamond III, even for accounts that previously played at a higher level.

High-ranked players may therefore need additional Ranked progression after placements to return to Master, Grandmaster or Challenger.

Solo Placement Matches Boost

The standard Placement Matches service uses Solo delivery. An assigned player completes the selected provisional games directly on the account.

This format is suited to players who want the placement series completed without having to schedule every match themselves.

Depending on the available order configuration, additional options such as higher priority, stream access or gameplay preferences may be available.

How the LoL Placement Boost Works

1. Select your previous Ranked tier or Unranked status.
2. Choose the number of placement matches still required.
3. Select any available additional options.
4. Complete checkout and provide the required account information.
5. An assigned player completes the selected provisional games.
6. After all five total placements are finished, Riot assigns the account its starting rank.

If some placements were already completed before ordering, only the remaining selected games are included in the service.

How Long Do Placement Matches Take?

Completion time depends on the number of games remaining, server, matchmaking times, previous rank and selected additional options.

A single remaining placement can normally be handled faster than a full five-game series. Higher-MMR accounts may also have longer queue times depending on the region and time of day.

If available, Priority can be selected when you want the order to receive higher scheduling priority.

Placement Matches vs LoL Rank Boost

Placement Matches Boost is designed specifically for the provisional Ranked games that establish your starting position.

Once the five placements are completed, normal Ranked progression begins. If you then want to move from the assigned starting rank to a specific tier or division, use our LoL Rank Boost.

If your objective is simply a fixed number of Ranked victories after placements, use the Ranked Wins service instead.

Start Ranked from the Strongest Position Your Account Allows

Placement games have a greater impact than simply making an account appear Ranked again. They establish the starting point from which the rest of the Ranked climb begins.

A strong placement series can reduce the amount of progression required afterward, but previous MMR and Ranked history still matter. The purpose of the service is therefore to complete the selected placements with strong gameplay while working toward the best starting position available for the account.
