WotLK Engineering 1-450 Guide

Engineering in WotLK Classic is still the most in-demand and useful profession for most classes. It provides great bonuses and allows you to create all kinds of devices that can come in handy in battle. In this guide, we will tell you how to level up Engineering in the WoW Wrath of the Lich King expansion, indicate the locations of craft trainers, list its features, and much more.

General information about the profession

To develop Engineering and craft various devices/tools, ore, metal ingots, and stones are used. Leveling up Engineering can be quite expensive if you buy all the necessary materials on the auction, so we recommend combining it with Mining. This way, you will save a lot of money and level up two professions simultaneously. In the future, you will be able to mine the resources you need for crafting and/or sell them on the auction.

Overall, Engineering can be described as a very popular profession that allows you to create explosives and unique devices that significantly enhance your character's effectiveness. It will be useful regardless of the type of content you are mastering: PvP or PvE.

How to learn engineering in WoW WotLK - Profession levels and tutors

Engineering has several levels of profession development:

Apprentice and Journeyman: You can learn basic engineering skills from any craft trainers in the capital cities of your faction. When you reach a major city, talk to the city guard and ask him to show you where the desired trainer is located. In the case of engineering, select the dialogue options "Profession Trainer" -> "Engineering". After that, a marker will appear on the map, indicating the location of the desired trainer. 

Artisan: To level up your crafting skill beyond 300, you need to go to an engineering trainer in Outland or Northrend. There, you can develop your mastery up to level 375. 

Master: To level up the profession from 375 to 450, go to Northrend and talk to one of the Grand Master engineers. You can see where to find these NPCs below.

Skill level 335-350 – to quickly and cheaply level up your profession from 335 to 350, you need to obtain the recipe Schematic: White Smoke Flare. It is sold by one of four NPCs:

• Captured Gnome - Zangarmarsh, Zabra'jin (Horde only)
• Feera - The Exodar (Alliance only)
• Jhordy Lapforge - Silvermoon City (Horde only)
• Dealer Jadyan - neutral vendor in Shattrath City.

Notes on Engineering in Northrend

Below you will find useful information and notes on crafting items while leveling Engineering from 350 to 450:Skill level 350-375 – the items we recommend making between skill levels 350 and 375 will be useful to you in the future. If you follow our guide, make at least 82 Cobalt Bolts and 14 Unstable Triggers. Skill level 375-385 – the items we recommend making between skill levels 375 and 385 will also be useful to you in the future (make a minimum of 18 of them). Make them now while they still allow you to level up your engineering. Skill level 390-405 – the items we recommend making between skill levels 390 and 405 will also be useful to you in the future (make a minimum of 18 of them). Make them now while they still allow you to level up your engineering. Skill level 400-405 – if you haven't leveled your profession to 405 yet, make another Iceblade Arrow and 1 Diamond-cut Refractor. Keep doing this until you reach 405 Engineering skill.

WotLK Classic engineering specializations

Engineering has several specializations, each with its own features.

Gnomish Engineering

To obtain the "Gnomish Engineering" specialization, you need to complete the "Show Your Work" quest. The goal of the quest is to bring the following items to an NPC:

• 6 x Mithril Tube 
• 1 x Accurate Scope 
• 2 x Advanced Target Dummy

Gnomish Engineering allows you to craft various fun items that do not provide any combat advantages:

• Gnomish X-ray Specs 
• Arrow with an Icy Tip 

Goblin Engineering

To obtain the "Goblin Engineering" specialization, you need to complete the "Show Your Work" quest. The goal of the quest is to bring the following items to an NPC:

• 20 x Big Iron Bomb 
• 20 x Solid Dynamite 
• 5 x Explosive Sheep 

Items available for crafting with this specialization 

Goblin Engineering allows you to craft explosives, which can be quite useful in battles against monsters and other players:

• Ultra-Flash Shadow 
• Reflector Exploding Shot 

This specialization is the best choice for those who want to maximize their damage.

How to change your Engineering specialization in Wrath of the Lich King?

In the WotLK expansion, changing your specialization is quite easy. You can switch between Goblin and Gnomish Engineering without any penalties or the need to level up your profession from scratch. All you need to do is talk to Narain Soothfancy in the Cartel Market (Tanaris) and pay him 150 gold.After you have given up your previous specialization, use the "Soothsaying for Dummies" book item to choose a new direction for your Engineering. The book is located on a table in Narain Soothfancy's house.

Engineering bonuses in WotLK Classic

Engineering allows you to create a multitude of unique devices and gadgets that significantly enhance your hero's efficiency. Additionally, engineers can create accessories, helmets, explosives, and enchantments, which once again proves that engineer is the best choice for any player. However, remember that engineering gadgets stop working if you abandon the profession.Enhancements for Engineers:

• Neurological Amplifier: +45 Stamina and the ability to control minds;
• Flexweave Underlay: +23 Agility and reduced falling damage;
• Springy Arachnoweave: +27 Spell Power and reduced falling damage;
• Rocket-Powered Grieves: allows you to deal AOE fire damage at range;
• Hyperspeed Accelerators: +340 Haste rating;
• Reinforced Titanium Framework: +885 Armor;
• Spinal Healing Injector: allows you to heal yourself or a friendly target for a substantial amount;
• Nitro Boosts: +24 Critical Strike rating and increased movement speed.

Useful Engineering Gadgets:

• Gnomish Army Knife: combines all engineering tools into one item and also grants the ability to resurrect a dead ally;
• Wormhole Generator: Northrend: allows travel to Northrend;
• MOLL-E: portable mailbox;
• Jeeves: a robot that grants access to vendors, repairs, and bank.

Powerful Explosives:

• Saronite Bomb;
• Mighty Charge of the Eternals.

Engineering Mounts in WotLK:

• Flying Machine Control: flying mount with a 150% flying speed;
• Turbo-Charged Flying Machine Control: flying mount with a 280% flying speed;
• Alliance Chopper: two-seater ground mount;
• Horde Motorcycle: two-seater ground mount.

In general, it is worth saying that engineering in WoW WotLK is not the most profitable, but very fun and often useful profession. Players can be among the first to get cool epic helmets, enhancements, unique mounts, and extremely useful PvP improvements.
