Buy our WoW Forever Hall of Thanes Boost to complete the level 13-18 dungeon beneath Ironforge with an organized group. Hall of Thanes is one of Forever's earliest new dungeons, combining four boss encounters, dungeon XP, early blue-quality rewards, dwarven story progression, and a direct bridge from starting-zone content into the wider 1-60 dungeon route.
Hall of Thanes is a completely new World of Warcraft: Forever dungeon built beneath Ironforge. The ancient halls have been breached, sacred dwarven treasures are under threat, Dark Iron intruders have entered the depths, and restless spirits now haunt areas that were once reserved for the honored dead.
Hall of Thanes Dungeon Overview
The Hall of Thanes is a level 13-18 dungeon located beneath the dwarven capital of Ironforge. Its placement makes it one of the first major group-content options available to new characters in WoW Forever.
| Dungeon Detail | Hall of Thanes |
|---|---|
| Level Range | 13-18 |
| Location | Beneath Ironforge, Dun Morogh |
| Dungeon Type | Early-level group dungeon |
| Main Setting | Ancient dwarven halls and royal burial chambers |
| Main Enemies | Dark Iron dwarves, restless spirits, stone constructs and other underground threats |
| Boss Encounters | Faldrim Anvilmar, Magmatus, Plunder and Durgen Dirgehammer |
| Main Purpose | Leveling, dungeon XP, quests, early blue gear and group-play progression |
Because Hall of Thanes begins at level 13, it enters the progression route much earlier than most traditional Classic dungeons. A character can move from starting-zone quests directly into coordinated five-player gameplay while many core class abilities and talent choices are still being developed.
What Is the Hall of Thanes?
The Hall of Thanes is located in the ancient depths beneath Ironforge and is closely connected to the history of dwarven rulers. Long before Forever, the Hall of Thanes existed in Warcraft lore as one of the most sacred parts of Ironforge, associated with the resting places of dwarven kings and the city's oldest heritage.
WoW Forever turns this historically important location into a complete leveling dungeon. Intruders have breached the halls and ancient treasures are threatened, forcing adventurers to descend beneath Ironforge and clear the occupied chambers.
The dungeon mixes several themes instead of relying on one enemy family. Players encounter restless spirits, Dark Iron forces, engineering or construct-based threats, and ancient dwarven architecture throughout the route.
Hall of Thanes Bosses
The dungeon route contains four major encounters. Each fight introduces a different type of mechanic, which makes Hall of Thanes useful for learning early group fundamentals such as interrupts, positioning, add control and avoiding unnecessary pulls.
| Boss | Encounter Type | Important Mechanic |
|---|---|---|
| Faldrim Anvilmar | Undead / dwarven spirit encounter | Interrupt Mind Blast and avoid accidentally pulling nearby apparitions and tormented spirits. |
| Magmatus | Fire-themed encounter connected with Dark Iron forces | Deals sustained Fire damage through Combust and uses an additional area attack around itself. |
| Plunder | Large mechanical or golem encounter | Charges distant players and uses a knockback effect that can push the group into nearby enemies. |
| Durgen Dirgehammer | Final dwarven encounter | Fights alongside Lesser Stone Golems and uses an area Fear that can send players into additional packs. |
Faldrim Anvilmar
Faldrim Anvilmar is the first major boss encountered in Hall of Thanes. His chamber contains multiple Enraged Apparitions and Tormented Souls, making positioning important even before the boss is engaged.
The primary ability to watch is Mind Blast, which deals Shadow damage. Classes with an interrupt should reserve it for this cast whenever possible.
The fight itself is relatively straightforward, but careless positioning can turn it into a much larger pull if nearby enemies enter combat. That makes Faldrim an appropriate first lesson in controlled dungeon pulling.
Magmatus
The second major encounter moves the group deeper into territory occupied by Dark Iron forces. Magmatus is a fire-oriented boss and is accompanied by nearby enemies that should be controlled before the main fight begins.
Its most important mechanic is Combust, a Fire-damage effect that continues dealing damage over time. Unlike a normal interruptible spell, the group should expect the healer to manage the resulting damage.
Magmatus also uses an area Fire attack around itself, making positioning more important for melee characters and encouraging the group to create enough space before starting the encounter.
Plunder
Plunder is a large mechanical or golem-style boss found deeper in Hall of Thanes. The surrounding room contains several Dark Iron groups, so an experienced party should create a safe fighting area before pulling the boss.
Plunder can charge a distant player, potentially interrupting a caster caught in the path. It also uses an explosive area effect that knocks nearby players away from the boss.
The knockback is particularly dangerous if the room has not been cleared, because a player can be pushed directly into another enemy pack. Controlled positioning is therefore more important than simply maximizing damage.
Durgen Dirgehammer
Durgen Dirgehammer is the final major encounter in the current Hall of Thanes route. He is found in a deeper royal section of the complex together with Lesser Stone Golems and nearby Dark Iron enemies.
The most dangerous mechanic is an area Fear. If the surrounding room is still populated, feared players can easily run into additional enemies and turn a controlled fight into a large multi-pack pull.
For that reason, clearing enough space before engaging Durgen is usually more important than attempting to rush the final encounter. The Lesser Stone Golems should also be controlled or defeated quickly so the tank and healer are not overwhelmed.
Hall of Thanes Route and Enemy Types
Hall of Thanes begins with areas haunted by dwarven spirits before moving deeper into sections occupied by Dark Iron intruders and mechanical threats.
| Enemy Type | What to Expect |
|---|---|
| Enraged Apparitions | Undead enemies encountered early in the dungeon around Faldrim Anvilmar. |
| Tormented Souls | Additional spectral enemies that can turn boss fights into larger pulls if ignored. |
| Dark Iron Looters | Common Dark Iron enemies found while progressing through the breached halls. |
| Dark Iron Summoners | Spellcasters capable of adding further pressure to group pulls. |
| Dark Iron Engineers | Engineering-themed enemies supporting the mechanical side of the dungeon. |
| Bloodhound Runts | Physical enemies commonly grouped with Dark Iron packs. |
| Lesser Stone Golems | Constructs encountered near the final sections and Durgen Dirgehammer. |
The route rewards controlled pulls much more than reckless room-wide engagement. This is particularly important at levels 13-18, when tanks, healers and DPS characters have fewer emergency abilities than they will later in the leveling journey.
Hall of Thanes Loot and Early Gearing Value
The complete boss-by-boss Hall of Thanes loot table is not yet sufficiently documented to list individual items reliably. What is confirmed for WoW Forever as a whole is that Blizzard has re-examined every dungeon drop, added hundreds of new items, and upgraded unique dungeon boss items to Rare quality.
That matters particularly at levels 13-18. Many characters entering Hall of Thanes are still using a mixture of starting-zone rewards, common or uncommon equipment, and items with stats that may not properly support their role.
| Upgrade Type | Why It Matters at Level 13-18 |
|---|---|
| Weapon Upgrade | A stronger weapon can dramatically improve Warrior, Rogue, Hunter, Paladin, Shaman and Feral leveling performance. |
| Tank Gear | Armor and Stamina help early tanks survive multi-enemy pulls while defensive toolkits are still limited. |
| Healer Gear | Intellect and mana-oriented stats reduce downtime and help sustain longer dungeon encounters. |
| Caster Gear | Improved spell-oriented equipment can noticeably increase damage and reduce mana pressure. |
| Physical DPS Gear | Strength, Agility and weapon improvements directly affect early leveling speed. |
| Weak-Slot Replacement | A Rare dungeon item may replace a white, green or outdated quest item for several following levels. |
Specific drops are not guaranteed. Dungeon items remain subject to the normal in-game loot system, and individual rewards should only be treated as confirmed when their current Forever item source is documented.
Who Should Run Hall of Thanes?
| Player Goal | Why Hall of Thanes Helps |

| Level 13-18 Progression | The dungeon is specifically designed for this early leveling bracket. |
| First Group Dungeon Experience | Introduces interrupts, positioning, add control, Fear management and controlled pulling early in the leveling journey. |
| Early Blue Gear | Unique dungeon boss rewards in Forever use Rare quality, creating meaningful upgrade opportunities. |
| Dungeon XP | Provides enemy and boss experience as an alternative or supplement to open-world questing. |
| Dwarven Story Content | Explores a historically important part of Ironforge that previously existed largely outside normal leveling progression. |
| Prepare for Later Dungeons | Provides group experience before Ruins of Lordaeron, The Deadmines, Wailing Caverns and later dungeon brackets. |

Alliance and Horde Access
Hall of Thanes is primarily positioned as an Alliance-side dungeon because it is located directly beneath Ironforge. Dwarf and Gnome characters in particular have convenient access to the dungeon during their early leveling route.
However, the conflict is not presented as completely inaccessible to Horde characters. Horde adventurers willing to reach hostile Ironforge territory may also have reasons to enter the breached halls and pursue their own objectives.
For most players, this makes Hall of Thanes the Alliance-side counterpart to the early Horde-oriented dungeon progression around Ragefire Chasm and the Ruins of Lordaeron.
Hall of Thanes Quests and Dwarven Heirlooms
Dungeon quests add significant value to an early Hall of Thanes run. Objectives documented along the current route include investigating the occupied halls, collecting dwarven heirlooms and interacting with quest objects in the deeper royal chambers.
Players should prepare any available Hall of Thanes quests before beginning the run whenever possible. At this level, combining enemy XP, boss XP, quest XP and item rewards is substantially more efficient than returning later for objectives that could have been completed during the first clear.
Because Forever also expands quest rewards to support more classes and roles, early dungeon quests can be especially useful for replacing poorly itemized starting equipment.
Where Is the Hall of Thanes Entrance?
The dungeon is located beneath Ironforge. The route begins from the central High Seat / throne-room area and descends toward the deeper chambers traditionally associated with Old Ironforge and the Hall of Thanes.
The location is particularly convenient for Alliance characters already leveling through Dun Morogh or using Ironforge as a capital hub.
Because the dungeon exists beneath a major Alliance city rather than in a neutral outdoor zone, Horde access involves significantly more risk than a normal early-level dungeon trip.
Where Does Hall of Thanes Fit in Forever Leveling?
Hall of Thanes is the earliest of the nine new Forever dungeons, beginning at level 13.
| Dungeon | Level Range | Progression Role |
|---|---|---|
| Hall of Thanes | 13-18 | Earliest new Forever dungeon and early Alliance group progression |
| Ragefire Chasm | Early leveling | Alternative early Horde-oriented dungeon progression |
| Ruins of Lordaeron | 15-20 | Second new Forever dungeon and Horde-oriented progression |
| The Deadmines | Late teens into early 20s | Major follow-up Alliance dungeon progression |
| Wailing Caverns | Early 20s progression | Additional route toward the next leveling bracket |
This positioning makes Hall of Thanes important even for players who do not intend to repeatedly farm it. A single prepared run can introduce dungeon mechanics, provide valuable XP and potentially replace several pieces of weak starting equipment before later instances become available.
