Need a help in WoW Forever?

World of Warcraft: Forever is a permanent WoW experience built around original Azeroth and a lasting level-60 cap, with new zones, quests, dungeons, raids, systems and character options added around that foundation. It is often compared with WoW Classic+, but Blizzard explicitly presents Forever as its own permanent WoW experience alongside modern WoW and Classic, not as a new version of Classic. The global release is November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. PST, which is November 5 at 00:00 CET in Central Europe. This WoW Forever guide covers the release date, beta, subscription and upgrade requirements, new zones and dungeons, Skyborne, classes, raids, PvP, servers and the systems that matter before launch.

Last updated: 15.09.2026. Revised with Blizzard's What's Next, Deep Dive and Found Photos information, the European launch date, beta and upgrade conditions, current dungeon details and the latest system clarifications.

When does the beta start? September 17, 2026, with the published beta window running through October 21 in Pacific Time.

Do you need to buy WoW Forever? Base access is included with an active WoW subscription or Game Time. The Skyborne race and its starting experience require a paid Forever upgrade.

When do the new WoW Forever raids open? December 9, 2026, after the initial leveling period.

What Is WoW Forever? Is It Classic+?

The clearest way to understand WoW Forever is to look at what happens after a character reaches level 60. Classic Era preserves the original level-60 game, while progression Classic revisits successive expansions. Forever instead builds new adventures, systems and long-term progression into a reimagined version of original Azeroth. The Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor remain its foundation, but knowing the old map will no longer mean knowing every quest, dungeon, route or reward.

Its story begins after Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core. Blizzard describes this as an early period in Azeroth's history where Forever can branch into its own continuing timeline. Returning players should expect recognizable geography, characters and conflicts without assuming that the original expansion sequence will follow unchanged.

Confirmed by Blizzard: Forever is a permanent World of Warcraft experience. It is not a mod, a season or a new version of Classic. Classic+ remains useful community shorthand for the kind of experience players have been asking for, but it is not Blizzard's official product name. Information for Classic Era, Season of Discovery or modern WoW therefore does not automatically apply to Forever.

WoW Forever vs WoW Classic, Classic Era, Retail and Season of Discovery

These versions offer different reasons to return to Azeroth. The comparison below focuses on their progression models and the type of experience each one is designed to provide rather than ranking them by total content.

WoW versionProgression modelMain attractionWho it suits
WoW ForeverNew content built around a lasting level-60 capDiscovering new quests, systems, dungeons and raids in a reimagined original AzerothPlayers who enjoy Classic's world and pacing but want that version of Azeroth to keep developing
Classic EraThe preserved original level-60 environmentFamiliar Vanilla content and established character progressionPlayers who want the original Classic rules, destinations and endgame
Progression ClassicProgression through older WoW expansions according to the current Classic release cycleRevisiting expansion campaigns, systems and raid tiersPlayers returning for a specific expansion or guild progression period
RetailModern expansions with recurring endgame seasonsCurrent story development and modern PvE, PvP and quality-of-life systemsPlayers who prefer contemporary WoW combat, progression and endgame structure
Season of DiscoverySeasonal reinterpretation of ClassicRune-based class changes and experimental versions of familiar Classic contentPlayers drawn to major gameplay experiments within a seasonal Classic format

Forever puts substantial weight on the leveling journey and the world between quest hubs. Blizzard has ruled out flying mounts and level scaling, so travel, zone level ranges and route choices remain meaningful. More than 1,000 additional quests create new leveling paths, but the larger quest pool alone does not prove that reaching level 60 will be faster.

For an existing guild, the decision is also social. Starting Forever means learning a revised game together. Previous Classic experience will help with familiar class identities, locations and general pacing, but changed talents, itemization, dungeons, travel routes and new systems mean old knowledge should be treated as a foundation rather than a complete launch guide.

WoW Forever Release Date, Beta Dates and Launch Roadmap

Confirmed by Blizzard: the beta, early name reservation, full release and first new raids have separate dates. The advertised global launch is November 4 at 3:00 p.m. PST, which is November 5 at 00:00 CET in Central Europe.

Milestone or requirementPublished informationWhat to plan around
BetaSeptember 17 to October 21, 2026, Pacific TimeSkyborne Epic Pack and Warcraft Forever Collection include beta access
Early name reservationOctober 27 to November 3, 2026, Pacific TimeIncluded with any paid Forever upgrade; up to three characters can be created and customized
Global releaseNovember 4 at 3:00 p.m. PST / November 5 at 00:00 CETUse the local date when arranging launch plans with friends or guildmates
New raidsDecember 9, 2026Leveling and initial gearing come before the new raid openings
Level cap60Future content is designed to continue developing the level-60 game
Base accessActive WoW subscription or Game TimeA separate Forever base-game purchase is not required
Play setupOfficial gamepad support announcedController support is an additional input option; Blizzard has not announced a console version

The opening schedule leaves exactly five weeks between the global launch and December 9. That gives players time to test classes, level at their own pace, explore the revised world, run dungeons and establish raid groups before Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit open. It does not mean every character needs to reach level 60 immediately.

Hardcore is part of the post-launch roadmap rather than the launch ruleset. Blizzard has confirmed that it is coming later but has not published an exact release date in its written roadmap. Additional raids, dungeons, PvP updates, world content, level 1-60 quests and a reworked iconic raid are also planned for later updates.

What Is New in WoW Forever?

WoW Forever expands both the journey to level 60 and the adventures that continue at the cap. New regions, quests, dungeons, raids and character options sit alongside systems that change how players travel, gather, use professions, level alts and build their characters.

WoW Forever New Zones and 1,000+ Quests

Blizzard has announced more than 1,000 new quests across the level 1-60 journey, with four major new or newly explorable regions providing some of the largest additions to original Azeroth.

  • Zephras Isle: the Skyborne starting experience for levels 1-12.
  • The Riverglades: a mid-level region roughly the size of Stranglethorn Vale, now described by Blizzard as containing nearly 200 quests for Horde and Alliance players.
  • Shen'dralas: a new region south of Desolace connected to the Shen'dralar, Eldre'Thalas, Dire Maul and the local centaur storylines.
  • Mount Hyjal: a long-awaited region exploring the aftermath of Archimonde's defeat and the future of the recovering mountain.

The WoW Forever new zones guide covers the regional details, level ranges and travel connections.

WoW Forever Dungeons: All 9 New Dungeons

The nine new dungeons are spread throughout the level 1-60 journey rather than being reserved for endgame. Their placement gives groups new destinations while leveling and turns several familiar or previously inaccessible locations into full group adventures.

The announced lineup includes Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron, Excavation Site: Wetlands, City of Dalaran, Blackmaw Hold, the Drowned City, Krol'dok Stronghold, Alcaz Prison and the Shaper's Terrace. Blizzard has also clarified that Krol'dok Stronghold is intended for levels 40-45 after an incorrect level range appeared in some BlizzCon material.

Knowing an area's old outdoor layout will not establish its new instance route, encounters or rewards. The WoW Forever dungeon list brings together the current level ranges, locations and confirmed details for all nine additions.

WoW Forever Raids: Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit

The two new raids announced for the opening endgame use different group sizes, with both scheduled to unlock on December 9, 2026.

  • Barrow Deeps: a max-level 10-player raid. Encounter details belong in the Barrow Deeps raid guide.
  • Hyjal Summit: a 20-player raid set at one of Warcraft's most important locations. Its encounters and rewards are covered by the Hyjal Summit raid guide as verified details become available.

The December opening gives guilds time to establish their rosters after launch. Group size is confirmed, but it should not be used to predict encounter difficulty, clear times or the final best raid compositions before players have tested the finished encounters.

WoW Forever Skyborne Race, Classes and Factions

Skyborne characters choose Horde or Alliance during character creation. Both factions can play Warrior, Hunter, Rogue and Druid, including a new Skyborne Druid form created specifically for the race.

  • Horde Skyborne: can additionally become Shamans.
  • Alliance Skyborne: can additionally become Mages.

Your preferred class can therefore determine which faction is available for a Skyborne character. The Skyborne race and Zephras Isle starting experience require a paid Forever upgrade; an ordinary WoW subscription or Game Time provides base Forever access but does not unlock these upgrade benefits. The Skyborne race guide covers the available classes, racial abilities and faction choice in greater detail.

WoW Forever Classes and New Race-Class Combinations

Forever revises racial abilities, talent trees, class abilities and itemization while intentionally keeping Classic-style class identities, strengths and weaknesses. Talent trees retain their familiar structure but gain a new 16-point milestone, while some important former talent-based class buffs become baseline abilities.

Six new race-class combinations have been announced for launch: Gnome Priest, Human Hunter, Dwarf Shaman, Orc Mage, Troll Warlock and Undead Paladin. Blizzard has also said that more combinations are planned for future updates.

This expands character choice without adding a completely new class to the launch roster. The WoW Forever class changes guide separates confirmed toolkit changes from balance judgments that still need beta and live testing.

WoW Forever Legacy System, Camping and Transmog

Several new systems affect everyday play, from leveling additional characters to profession utility and how players choose to see Azeroth.

  • Legacy System: Legacy Points are shared across alts, while each character spends them independently in the Professions, Adventure and Resourcefulness trees. At launch, each character can spend up to 16 points while the account can initially earn up to 65, with additional progress feeding a cosmetic Legacy Reward Track.
  • Camping: the Basic Campfire creates campsites that can provide vendors, repairs, profession workspaces and one-hour buffs. Professions can contribute crafted campsite objects, while advanced Blueprint recipes can come from dungeon bosses.
  • Optional transmog: players can choose whether to use the transmog presentation, including an option designed for players who prefer the original equipped-item look.
  • HD and SD models: visual options let players choose between updated and more traditional character presentation.
  • Official gamepad support: players who prefer a controller have an officially supported input option.

The Legacy System guide focuses on account-wide progression, Legacy Challenges, the three trees and the choices available to individual characters.

WoW Forever Servers: Realmless Rulesets and Playing with Friends

Blizzard is replacing the traditional long realm list with a realmless structure. At launch, players choose Normal, PvP or Roleplaying rulesets, while Hardcore becomes available later. Each ruleset functions as its own large ecosystem rather than everyone being placed in one giant realm. Cross-ruleset grouping is not supported, and Horde and Alliance remain separate for grouping.

Friends should therefore agree on both faction and ruleset before creating their main characters. A group that wants relaxed cooperative questing and one that wants open-world PvP are making different choices even if both eventually plan to raid. The realmless system reduces the pressure of choosing the correct named server, but it does not remove the gameplay differences between rulesets.

WoW Forever PvP: Darkspear Islands Battleground

Darkspear Islands is a new 15v15 Battleground off the coast of Kalimdor. Blizzard describes it as combining strategic control points with flag capture and defense in the style of Arathi Basin. Current official information therefore supports an objective-control Battleground rather than assuming a Warsong Gulch-style flag-running format.

For players choosing Forever mainly for PvP, the distinction between the PvP ruleset's open-world conflict and organized Battleground play matters more than speculative pre-beta class rankings. The WoW Forever PvP guide covers Darkspear Islands, PvP rules and progression details as verified information becomes available.

WoW Forever Price, Subscription and Upgrade Editions

The first purchase question is whether you need an upgrade at all. If you want to play the base WoW Forever experience with an existing race, an active World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time provides access. A separate base-game purchase is not required. The optional upgrades are primarily for Skyborne access, cosmetics and other edition-specific benefits.

The Skyborne Heroic Pack does not include beta access. Beta access beginning September 17 is included with the Skyborne Epic Pack and Warcraft Forever Collection. Players buying an upgrade primarily for the beta should therefore check the edition rather than assuming every Forever preorder grants access.

The Epic Pack and Warcraft Forever Collection include 30 days of World of Warcraft Game Time added to the account at launch. The Collection also includes Warcraft III: Reforged and Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom. The Collection is a broader bundle, not a requirement for playing Forever.

Early name reservation is included with any paid Forever upgrade and runs from October 27 through November 3, 2026, Pacific Time. Players can create and customize up to three characters during that period, but name availability remains first-come, first-served. This is name reservation, not early access to leveling. Blizzard's Forever upgrade breakdown lists the current edition benefits and access conditions.

Planning character assistance: when comparing WoW Forever services, match the offer to your chosen character, the content already available and the amount of help you actually need. A service listing should make the supported activity, requirements and delivery conditions clear before it becomes part of your launch plan.

Latest WoW Forever News and Updates

Blizzard continued publishing Forever details after the initial reveal, so the latest information now goes beyond the original release-date announcement. These are the most useful current updates to keep in view before the beta begins.

  • World and quest update: Blizzard's Found Photos panel described the Riverglades as roughly the size of Stranglethorn Vale with nearly 200 quests and revealed additional travel routes connecting parts of original Azeroth.
  • Dungeon clarification: Blizzard corrected Krol'dok Stronghold's published level range to levels 40-45 after an incorrect range appeared in BlizzCon material.
  • Beta window: the test begins September 17 and runs through October 21, 2026, Pacific Time; the Skyborne Epic Pack and Warcraft Forever Collection include access.
  • Raid timing: Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit are scheduled to open on December 9 after the launch leveling period.
  • Further development: Hardcore, additional raids and dungeons, PvP updates, world content, more level 1-60 quests and a reworked iconic raid are on the roadmap, but undated features should not be treated as fixed launch deadlines.

WoW Forever FAQ

Is WoW Forever the same as Classic Plus?
No. Classic+ is the community term commonly used for the idea of expanding original-era WoW with new content. Blizzard describes Forever as a separate permanent World of Warcraft experience rather than a new version of Classic, although it clearly overlaps with what many players have wanted from a Classic+ project.

Is WoW Forever free?
WoW Forever is not free-to-play. There is no separate base-game purchase requirement, but normal access requires an active World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time. Optional paid upgrades unlock benefits such as the Skyborne race, its starting experience and, depending on the edition, beta access.

How do you get WoW Forever beta access?
The Skyborne Epic Pack and Warcraft Forever Collection include beta access beginning September 17. The Skyborne Heroic Pack does not include beta access.

Will WoW Forever go beyond level 60?
Blizzard currently presents level 60 as the lasting cap and plans to expand progression, quests, dungeons, raids and other systems around it rather than following the traditional higher-level expansion model.

Does WoW Forever have flying mounts?
No. Blizzard has also ruled out level scaling, preserving the importance of ground travel, world geography and zone level ranges.

Can you turn off transmog in WoW Forever?
Yes. Transmog is optional, and Blizzard is providing a presentation for players who prefer to see equipped gear rather than the full transmog system during normal play.

Conclusion: Is WoW Forever Worth Starting?

WoW Forever is most relevant to players who want original Azeroth to keep growing without abandoning the level-60 structure that defines Classic-era progression. Its main appeal is not simply reaching the cap again, but learning revised routes, quests, dungeons, classes, professions and endgame systems inside a familiar world. Base access through a normal WoW subscription or Game Time makes it possible to try that experience without buying an upgrade; the paid editions make sense only when benefits such as Skyborne, beta access or their included extras matter to you.
