What is WoW: Forever?
World of Warcraft: Forever is Blizzard's Classic+ — a permanent third branch of WoW running alongside Retail and Classic, rather than a seasonal experiment. It keeps the original Azeroth, the original pacing and a level 60 cap that is not going up, then builds new content outward instead of upward. The story sits after the events of Warcraft III: Reforged and before Molten Core, which lets Blizzard explore places and plots the original game never finished.
Forever launches on 4 November 2026. The beta opened on 17 September 2026, early name reservation runs from 27 October to 3 November, and the first two raids arrive on 9 December 2026.
Quick answers
- Release date: 4 November 2026.
- Do I need to buy it? No — an active WoW subscription covers Forever. Only the Skyborne race is a paid unlock.
- Level cap: 60, permanently. Future updates add zones, dungeons and raids instead of levels.
- Continents: Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor only.
- New raids: Barrow Deeps (10 players) and Hyjal Summit (20 players), both on 9 December 2026.
- Flying mounts and level scaling: neither is in the game.
What is new at launch
Zones and quests
More than 1,000 new quests, weighted heavily toward the 1-60 journey. Zephras Isle is a 1-12 starting experience for the new race; The Riverglades adds a frontier region with over 150 quests across the mid-30s to mid-40s; Shen'dralas opens a long-hidden area between Mulgore and Desolace tied to the Shen'dralar, Eldre'Thalas and the local centaur tribes; Mount Hyjal covers the aftermath of Archimonde's defeat and Darkwhisper Gorge.
Nine new dungeons
New instances are spread across the whole leveling curve rather than stacked at max level — from Hall of Thanes beneath Ironforge at 13-18, through Ruins of Lordaeron, Excavation Site, City of Dalaran, The Drowned City, Krol'dok Stronghold and Alcaz Island Prison, up to Blackmaw Hold and Shaper's Terrace in the high 50s.
The Skyborne
A new playable elven race from Zephras Isle. Faction is chosen at character creation, so the Skyborne are not a neutral race: Horde Skyborne follow elemental traditions and gain access to Shaman, Alliance Skyborne pursue their ancestors' arcane legacy and gain access to Mage. Both sides can play Warrior, Hunter, Rogue and Druid, and Skyborne druids get their own shapeshift forms.
Classes and race combinations
Every class receives new abilities and talents, with the stated goal of lifting the weakest vanilla specs without flattening class identity. New combinations include Undead Paladin and Dwarf Shaman.
Systems
- Legacy System — achievements plus an account-wide perk tree covering profession efficiency and earlier talent points, aimed at alts and completionists.
- Camping — build a campsite in the open world, use professions to craft items for it and share buffs with the players around you.
- Optional transmog — enable it if you want it, or turn it off and never see anyone else's transmog.
- Graphics toggle — switch between HD and original models, animations and interface, with subtler world upgrades to water, light and weather.
- Controller support — official gamepad support, no third-party workarounds.
- Darkspear Islands — a new 15v15 battleground off the coast of Kalimdor mixing control points, capture the flag and defence objectives.
What you will find in this section
Our Forever coverage is built around four things: getting started (release, beta, editions, servers, name reservation), leveling (routes for both factions, professions, gold, dungeon timing), classes (talent builds, new abilities, tier lists per role) and endgame (dungeon walkthroughs, pre-raid BiS, Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit).
Every guide carries a visible update date and marks each fact as confirmed by Blizzard, shown on a BlizzCon panel, or still unconfirmed. Details from the beta can change before launch, and we revise pages rather than leaving stale numbers behind.
