Buy our WoW Forever Ragefire Chasm Boost to complete the level 13-18 dungeon beneath Orgrimmar with an organized group. Ragefire Chasm, commonly shortened to RFC, is one of the earliest dungeons in the 1-60 journey and provides boss kills, dungeon XP, Horde quest progress, and opportunities to obtain valuable Rare-quality weapons and equipment.
Ragefire Chasm is a volcanic cavern network directly beneath the Horde capital. Troggs have pushed upward through the underground tunnels while members of the Searing Blade operate deeper inside the chasm, creating a threat directly below Orgrimmar. The dungeon is compact compared with later instances, making it an ideal introduction to group roles, threat management, interrupts, add control and dungeon questing.
Ragefire Chasm Dungeon Overview
Ragefire Chasm is located in the Cleft of Shadow inside Orgrimmar. The recommended progression range is level 13-18, although the instance can technically be entered earlier.
| Dungeon Detail | Ragefire Chasm |
|---|---|
| Abbreviation | RFC |
| Level Range | 13-18 |
| Minimum Entry Level | 8 |
| Location | Cleft of Shadow, Orgrimmar |
| Region | Durotar / Orgrimmar |
| Typical Group | 5 players |
| Main Enemies | Ragefire Troggs, shamans, Searing Blade cultists, warlocks and demons |
| Main Bosses | Oggleflint, Taragaman the Hungerer, Jergosh the Invoker and Bazzalan |
| Main Purpose | Early dungeon leveling, Horde quests, Rare gear and group-play progression |
RFC is particularly efficient for Horde characters because the entrance is inside a capital city. Orc and Troll characters naturally pass through Orgrimmar during early progression, while Undead and Tauren players can also combine the dungeon with quests obtained from other Horde capitals.
Ragefire Chasm Story
The volcanic caverns beneath Orgrimmar were originally occupied by troggs that emerged from deeper underground. The situation became more dangerous when members of the Searing Blade, a cult linked to demonic forces and the wider Shadow Council threat, established themselves within the chasm.
This creates two separate problems for the Horde. Ragefire Troggs threaten Orgrimmar from below, while the Searing Blade attempts to spread demonic influence directly beneath the Horde's political center.
Several dungeon quests reflect this conflict. Some focus on controlling the trogg population, while others send players after the Searing Blade leadership and Taragaman the Hungerer.
Ragefire Chasm Bosses
Ragefire Chasm contains four main encounters. The mechanics are relatively simple compared with later dungeons, but they introduce several important group-play concepts early in the leveling journey.
| Boss | Encounter | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Oggleflint | Trogg chieftain encounter | Early optional boss accompanied by additional enemies and a useful introduction to add control. |
| Taragaman the Hungerer | Felguard encounter | Major RFC boss tied to the Slaying the Beast quest and source of several important dungeon items. |
| Jergosh the Invoker | Searing Blade warlock | Important quest target and source of caster and melee-oriented dungeon rewards. |
| Bazzalan | Satyr encounter | Searing Blade leader required for the Hidden Enemies quest chain. |
Oggleflint
Oggleflint is a Ragefire Trogg chieftain encountered during the early part of the dungeon. He is accompanied by additional troggs, making the encounter a straightforward introduction to target priority.
The safest approach is to control or defeat the additional enemies first while the tank keeps Oggleflint occupied. Although the fight is relatively simple, it teaches an important dungeon principle: eliminating additional threats can reduce incoming damage more effectively than immediately focusing the boss.
Taragaman the Hungerer
Taragaman the Hungerer is one of the central encounters in Ragefire Chasm. The Felguard serves as a major Searing Blade threat and is directly connected to the Horde quest Slaying the Beast.
The quest requires players to defeat Taragaman and recover his heart. During the encounter, positioning around the lava-filled platforms matters because knockback effects can create unnecessary movement or place characters in dangerous positions.
Taragaman is also the source of several of RFC's most useful early equipment upgrades.
Jergosh the Invoker
Jergosh the Invoker is a Searing Blade warlock positioned in the deeper sections of the dungeon. He is one of the two boss targets required for the Hidden Enemies quest chain.
Jergosh uses Warlock-style abilities including damage-over-time effects. Players with interrupt capability can reduce incoming damage, while the group should control nearby cultists before committing fully to the boss.
Jergosh is particularly interesting for both casters and physical characters because his loot includes the Robe of Evocation and Chanting Blade.
Bazzalan
Bazzalan is a satyr associated with the Searing Blade and another required target for Hidden Enemies. He is encountered near the later part of the dungeon alongside additional enemies.
Bazzalan deals strong physical damage for the level bracket and can apply poison effects. Removing or controlling his nearby adds before focusing the boss makes the encounter considerably safer.
Best Ragefire Chasm Loot in WoW Forever
Ragefire Chasm offers several useful Rare-quality rewards for characters entering their first dungeon progression. These items can replace basic starting-zone or early quest equipment and remain useful through several following levels.
| Item | Source | Best For | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cursed Felblade | Taragaman the Hungerer | Warrior, Rogue and other sword users | Main-hand sword with a chance-on-hit effect that reduces the target's Attack Power, combining offensive progression with defensive utility. |
| Crystalline Cuffs | Taragaman the Hungerer | Mage, Priest, Warlock and other cloth casters | Early cloth bracers with Intellect and Spirit that support mana-based characters during the first dungeon brackets. |
| Subterranean Cape | Taragaman the Hungerer | Physical leveling characters | Early cloak with Strength and health regeneration, offering useful leveling value for physical characters. |
| Chanting Blade | Jergosh the Invoker | Rogue, Shaman and fast-weapon users | Fast one-handed dagger with Agility and Stamina, making it a useful physical weapon during the early teens. |
| Robe of Evocation | Jergosh the Invoker | Mage, Priest, Warlock and caster builds | Cloth chest with Intellect and Stamina and a strong early upgrade over many starting-zone caster robes. |
Specific boss drops are not guaranteed. Dungeon loot remains subject to the normal in-game loot system, so repeated RFC runs may be required when targeting an individual item.
Ragefire Chasm Horde Quests
Ragefire Chasm is especially valuable when its dungeon quests are prepared before the run. The current Forever database retains several major Horde questlines tied directly to RFC.
| Quest | Main Objective | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Slaying the Beast | Defeat Taragaman the Hungerer and recover his heart. | Completes a major Searing Blade storyline objective during a normal dungeon route. |
| Testing an Enemy's Strength | Defeat Ragefire Troggs and Ragefire Shamans. | Progresses naturally while clearing the early dungeon sections. |
| Searching for the Lost Satchel | Locate Maur Grimtotem inside Ragefire Chasm. | Adds another quest objective to the normal RFC route. |
| Hidden Enemies | Defeat Bazzalan and Jergosh the Invoker. | Part of a longer Orgrimmar storyline involving the Searing Blade. |
Hidden Enemies and Orgrimmar Weapon Rewards
Hidden Enemies is particularly valuable because the quest chain connects the Burning Blade and Searing Blade threats around Orgrimmar and culminates in a class-friendly weapon choice.
After progressing through the chain and defeating Bazzalan and Jergosh, the final stage can reward a choice between:
- Kris of Orgrimmar – dagger option.
- Hammer of Orgrimmar – mace option.
- Axe of Orgrimmar – axe option.
- Staff of Orgrimmar – staff option.
This makes a properly prepared RFC run more useful than simply clearing four bosses. Dungeon XP, boss loot, quest XP, reputation and an additional weapon reward can all be combined into the same progression route.

Where Is the Ragefire Chasm Entrance?
Ragefire Chasm is located directly inside Orgrimmar. Enter the Cleft of Shadow and descend toward its lowest level to reach the dungeon portal.
This makes RFC exceptionally convenient for Horde players. The group can form in a capital city, repair, train, obtain quests and enter the dungeon without a long outdoor journey.
Alliance characters face a very different situation because reaching RFC requires entering the Horde capital itself. For practical leveling purposes, Ragefire Chasm is therefore primarily a Horde dungeon.
Ragefire Chasm and Early WoW Forever Progression
RFC occupies the same 13-18 range as Hall of Thanes but serves a different geographic and faction-focused role.
| Dungeon | Level Range | Progression Role |
|---|---|---|
| Ragefire Chasm | 13-18 | Early Horde dungeon progression inside Orgrimmar |
| Hall of Thanes | 13-18 | New early dungeon beneath Ironforge |
| Ruins of Lordaeron | 15-20 | Next new Forever dungeon overlapping the upper RFC bracket |
| The Deadmines | 15-22 | Early Alliance-oriented dungeon alternative |
| Wailing Caverns | 17-24 | Natural Horde progression after RFC |
For many Horde characters, the natural dungeon progression is therefore Ragefire Chasm → Wailing Caverns → Shadowfang Keep / Blackfathom Deeps, with Forever's new dungeons providing additional routes between those brackets.
For the wider 1-60 path, see our WoW Forever Guide and WoW Forever Guides.
