Buy Shield Generators in Star Citizen and equip your ship with the protection that matches your combat, industrial, stealth or general-purpose loadout. Choose the exact shield model and size you need and receive the component through a coordinated in-game delivery.
Shield Generators create and regenerate the protective shield around your ship. Different models vary in shield strength, regeneration, recovery delays, durability, emissions and Resource Network requirements, so the best choice depends on your ship and intended role rather than size or grade alone.
Star Citizen Shield Generators
Shield Generators are core ship components that protect a vessel from incoming damage. Current Star Citizen 4.10.1 component data includes multiple sizes, grades and classes designed for different priorities.
For normal swappable ship upgrades, S1 through S3 are the most relevant sizes. Smaller fighters commonly use S1 shields, medium ships use S2 components, and larger multi-crew ships can use S3 generators. The exact number and size of shield slots depends on the individual ship.
| Component Type | Shield Generator |
| Main Upgrade Sizes | S1, S2 and S3 |
| Grades | A, B, C and D |
| Main Classes | Civilian, Military, Industrial, Stealth and Competition |
| Important Stats | Shield Health, Regen Rate, Regen Delay, Durability, EM Emissions and Resource Usage |
| Resource Network | Uses ship power and cooling resources |
| Compatibility | Requires a matching Shield Generator slot |
Choose the Correct Shield Generator Size
The Shield Generator must match the component slot installed on your ship. You cannot replace an S1 generator with an S2 model simply because the larger component provides more shield capacity.
S1 Shield Generators are common on fighters, starters and other smaller ships. Current high-end examples include the FR-66, Palisade and Mirage.
S2 Shield Generators are used by many medium ships and heavy fighters. Current examples include the FR-76, Rampart, Umbra and 7MA 'Lorica'.
S3 Shield Generators protect larger ships and include models such as the FR-86, Parapet and 7CA 'Nargun'.
Always check the actual ship loadout because ships can also use more than one Shield Generator of the same size.
Military Shield Generators
Gorgon Defender Industries produces one of the best-known Military shield families in Star Citizen. The Grade A progression includes the FR-66 S1, FR-76 S2 and FR-86 S3.
Military generators are built around strong protection and durability. The current FR-86, for example, combines a large shield pool with high regeneration and is designed as a performance-oriented large shield component.
Military shields can also have higher resource or signature requirements than components designed around lower emissions, so they should be considered as part of the complete ship build.
Industrial Shield Generators
Basilisk produces the main Industrial shield families. Current Grade A models include the Palisade S1, Rampart S2 and Parapet S3.
Industrial shields emphasize protection and durability. The Palisade is specifically designed around exceptional durability for a small shield, while the Rampart is built to absorb substantial damage before its shield is depleted.
The larger Parapet continues the same Industrial philosophy for S3 component slots and is designed for large spacecraft where sustained protection is important.
Stealth Shield Generators
Ascension Astro produces Stealth shield generators designed around lower emissions. Current Grade A examples include the Mirage S1 and Umbra S2.
The Mirage is intended for small low-signature builds, while the Umbra provides the same general approach for S2 ships. These shields are most useful when combined with other low-emission components rather than installed as the only Stealth component on an otherwise highly detectable ship.
Civilian Shield Generators
Civilian shields provide general-purpose alternatives without specializing as heavily in Military, Industrial or Stealth characteristics.
Current Grade A examples include the 7SA 'Concord' S1, 7MA 'Lorica' S2 and 7CA 'Nargun' S3 from Behring Applied Technology.
These models are useful when you want a balanced shield upgrade rather than designing the ship around one highly specialized component class.
Competition Shield Generators
Yorm produces lightweight Competition shield generators aimed at performance-oriented ships and racers. Unlike several other component classes, the current Competition families do not simply provide a Grade A option at every size.
For S1, the Jaghte Grade B is the highest model in its current family above the Targa and Falco. At S2, the Haltur Grade B sits above the Trenta and Bamoty.
For this reason, Grade should always be compared within the actual component family rather than assuming that every class has an equivalent Grade A model.

| Parapet | S3 | A | Industrial |
Shield Health and Regeneration
Maximum shield health tells you how much shield capacity the generator can contribute, while regeneration determines how quickly the shield resource can recover.
Current components also have separate delays after taking damage and after being fully depleted. A generator with strong maximum capacity therefore does not automatically have the fastest recovery profile.
When comparing two shields, consider shield health, regeneration rate and recovery delays together rather than looking at only one number.
Physical, Energy and Distortion Protection
Shield interaction varies depending on incoming damage type. Current component data tracks physical absorption and resistance separately from energy and distortion behavior.
This is especially important when comparing protection against conventional energy weapons and physical projectiles. Exact damage interaction is controlled by the current combat model and can change with balance updates, so the component's current live statistics should be used when building a specialized defensive loadout.
Shield Generators and the Resource Network
Shield Generators require resources from the ship to function. Current components have defined power and coolant requirements, and their shield-generation performance can change depending on the resources assigned to them.
This makes Power Plants, Coolers and Shield Generators part of the same engineering setup. Installing a stronger shield is most useful when the rest of the ship can support its power and cooling requirements.
Shield Generators and Ship Signatures
Active Shield Generators contribute to the ship's electromagnetic signature. This matters when comparing Stealth components with Military or Industrial alternatives.
A Stealth shield such as Mirage or Umbra is designed around lower emissions, while other classes prioritize durability or shield performance. For a low-signature build, the shield should be selected together with compatible Power Plants, Coolers and other low-emission components.
One Shield Generator or Multiple Shields?
Some ships use a single Shield Generator while others have multiple generator slots. Always check both the size and quantity required by your ship before ordering a complete replacement set.
If your ship uses two identical shield slots, ordering two matching generators can provide a consistent setup. Other ships may benefit from different configurations depending on their engineering design and your intended role.
Shield Generator vs Shield Controller
A Shield Generator and a Shield Controller are different components in current Star Citizen data. This product covers Shield Generators only.
If your ship uses a separate Shield Controller component, do not select it as a substitute for a generator. Component type and slot compatibility must both match.
How Shield Generator Delivery Works
Select the exact Shield Generator model and quantity required for your ship. If you are unsure about the correct size or number of generators, provide your ship model with the order so compatibility can be checked before delivery.
Our team coordinates an available server and meeting location and transfers the selected component through an appropriate in-game handoff method.
You remain on your own Star Citizen account throughout standard delivery. Your RSI password is not required.
For other ship components and physical items, browse our Star Citizen Items catalog.
Upgrade Your Ship Without Searching Component Stores
Shield Generators are distributed across different shops and progression sources. Some models can be purchased normally, while others are easier to obtain through crafting or more specialized acquisition routes.
Buying the exact generator you need allows you to move directly to installation and loadout testing instead of searching multiple component stores or unlocking the relevant blueprint first.
