Apex Legends Overclocked Season 29 Split 2 Patch 29.1

Apex Legends Overclocked Midseason Update starts the second half of the Overclocked season with a practical balance patch rather than a cosmetic-only refresh. EA published the full patch notes on June 22, and the update lands on June 23 with Legend balancing, a new shotgun hop-up, a hop-up shuffle, Ranked changes, Wildcard map rotations, weapon tuning, anti-cheat work, bug fixes and quality-of-life changes. The patch is built around three main areas: pulling several underused or struggling Legends back into the meta, reducing pressure from high-performing aggressive picks, and changing how shotgun and hop-up value works in Split 2.
The update also confirms that Respawn is not trying to reset the whole season. Overclocked systems stay in place, but Split 2 changes the pressure points around them. Ballistic, Pathfinder and Seer get direct buffs. Axle, Mad Maggie, Valkyrie and Conduit are hit with nerfs or friction changes. The Peacekeeper and Mastiff get access to the new Executioner hop-up, while Nemesis gains Turbocharger support. Ranked gets upcoming ladder dates and removes the Champion Squad screen from match start flow. Wildcard gains weekly map rotations, and the map pool shifts across Pubs, Ranked and Mixtape.
Apex Legends Overclocked Split 2 Release Date And Patch Scope
EA's official patch notes list the Overclocked Midseason Update as a June 22, 2026 publication, with all changes landing on June 23. The patch starts Overclocked Split 2 and covers Legends, weapons, locked hop-ups, maps, Wildcard, Ranked, bug fixes and quality-of-life updates. Anti-cheat work is also included: Respawn says it implemented detection for a reverse speed hack that could freeze cheaters in mid-air and resolved multiple exploits that could be used to take down servers. The note does not give a public technical breakdown, which is normal for anti-cheat changes, but it places competitive integrity beside balance as part of the midseason update.
The practical scope is wide. This is not a single Legend patch and not only a weapon patch. It touches combat pacing through Ballistic, Axle, Maggie, Valkyrie and Conduit. It changes mobility uptime through Pathfinder. It gives Seer more responsive scan tools. It adjusts shotgun reward through Executioner and removes old hop-up placements from Mastiff, Peacekeeper, Longbow, Wingman and Mozambique. It also changes map availability across the main queues. For players returning at Split 2, the main adjustment is not learning a new Legend. It is relearning which fights are safer, which pushes are weaker, which shotguns are more valuable after a knock and which maps are active in each mode.
Apex Legends Legend Changes: Buffs For Ballistic, Pathfinder And Seer

Ballistic gets one of the largest buffs in the patch. His Passive now lets him respawn with his Sling weapon in all game modes. His Tactical Whistler now applies Overheat to only one weapon instead of functioning as a broader pressure tool, but the numbers are much stronger: Overheat damage increases from 15 to 50, debuff duration increases from 12 seconds to 15 seconds, Tactical charges increase from 1 to 2, and the delay before homing activates is reduced. Overheat no longer degrades when the target is not firing or when swapping weapons, and it does not increment when a player swaps weapons and shoots. The restriction is that Ballistic cannot reapply Overheat to someone already overheating and cannot apply it to multiple guns on the same player. His Ultimate also changes from a personal speed advantage into a team sprint boost, applying to Ballistic and teammates within range, but only while sprinting.
Pathfinder gets uptime and movement value. His Passive now tucks his legs while riding horizontal ziplines, making him slightly harder to hit on horizontal zipline movement. His Tactical goes from 1 charge to 2 charges, and the old progressive cooldown is removed in favor of a flat 20-second cooldown. His Zipline Gun projectile launches faster, and the Ultimate cooldown drops from 3 minutes to 2 minutes. His Level 2 upgrades also expand: Field Research now grants all Recon perks, and Ringmaster now grants all Controller perks. The new Level 3 Landing Gear upgrade adds more air control and faster recovery from hard landings. The result is a Pathfinder that should have more consistent Grappling Hook access, stronger team rotation uptime and more utility through class perk access.
Seer gets responsiveness changes instead of a raw damage pattern. His Passive heartbeat sensor activates faster, heartbeat intervals are shorter, unarmed ADS activation is faster and activation timing is made more consistent between weapon and unarmed states. His Tactical has a shorter delay between launch and hit, and its slow should affect faster-moving Legends more reliably. His Ultimate now performs a quick 2-second scan when deployed, also scans enemies who enter the area after deployment for 2 seconds, and reveals footsteps from cloaked enemies inside the Ultimate zone. These changes target reliability. Seer still has to land his information tools, but Split 2 makes those tools less sluggish in fights where movement and cloak effects previously reduced his value.
| Legend | Patch 29.1 change | Expected effect |
| Ballistic | Sling weapon on respawn, 2 Tactical charges, Overheat damage from 15 to 50, debuff from 12s to 15s | Higher duel pressure and stronger mid-fight punishment |
| Pathfinder | 2 Tactical charges, flat 20s cooldown, Zipline Gun cooldown from 3 minutes to 2 minutes | More frequent mobility, faster rotations and better skirmisher uptime |
| Seer | Faster Passive, improved Tactical timing and slow, Ultimate gains 2s deployment scan | More reliable information and better response to fast or cloaked enemies |
| Axle | Nitro Gate count and HP reduced earlier, Super Slider no longer gives second Tactical charge | Less constant speed pressure and more risk on overextensions |
| Mad Maggie | Tactical cooldown from 22s to 28s, Wrecking Ball pucks now give sprint boost only | Lower battlefield control and reduced all-movement speed abuse |
| Valkyrie | Recent faster landing improvement from skydiving removed | Slightly more friction on repositioning and landing safety |
| Conduit | Tactical regen reduced, cooldown increased from 27s to 30s, Enduring Barrier loses ring-damage regen | Less aggressive shield sustain and lower Support dominance |
Apex Legends Nerfs Target Axle, Mad Maggie, Valkyrie And Conduit
Axle is adjusted because her speed and team utility have been driving aggressive pacing too hard. The patch notes include earlier hotfix changes that reduced Nitro Gate's max in-world count from 3 to 2 and health from 150 to 100. In Patch 29.1, knocked players can no longer slide across zip codes as Axle or while under Nitro Gate effects. They can still boost through a Nitro Gate, but they slow down once the effect ends. The Super Slider upgrade no longer grants a second Tactical charge. Instead, it gives Nitro Gate a 5-second cooldown reduction and +1 max in-world count. Kickstart also changes how it displaces enemies, launching victims on a parabolic arc based on their velocity instead of straight up, and its enemy highlight duration is slightly reduced to better match stun duration.
Mad Maggie gets a direct cooldown nerf and a speed-control nerf. Riot style patch notes would call this a pacing change, but in Apex terms it is about reducing how often Maggie controls space and how hard her Ultimate accelerates a team. Her Tactical cooldown increases from 22 seconds to 28 seconds. The speed boost from Wrecking Ball pucks is replaced by a sprint boost, so it no longer speeds up all movement types. Valkyrie receives a smaller but targeted hit: Respawn removes the recent improvement that allowed her to land faster from skydiving. This does not remove Valkyrie's rotation identity, but it reduces one piece of landing smoothness that helped her remain one of the stronger picks over recent seasons.
Conduit gets the clearest Support nerf. From the May 29 hotfix, her Tactical regen rate was reduced from 15 per second to 10 per second, regen duration increased from 6 seconds to 8 seconds, ally total regen dropped from 90 to 80 and Conduit's own total regen dropped from 60 to 56. In Patch 29.1, her Tactical cooldown increases from 27 seconds to 30 seconds. Her Instant Barrier upgrade has its regen duration increased from 4 seconds to 6 seconds, while Enduring Barrier no longer grants regen through ring damage. The direction is specific: Conduit still has support value, but her ability to enable highly aggressive teams and dominate Support pick space is being reduced.
New Executioner Hop-Up And Split 2 Weapon Changes

The headline equipment change is Executioner, a new locked hop-up for Peacekeeper and Mastiff. Knocking an enemy with either shotgun grants 50 shield regeneration over 5 seconds, and the hop-up costs 375 points to unlock. This changes how shotgun fights are rewarded. Peacekeeper and Mastiff already specialize in close-range burst and cover trading. Executioner gives them a post-knock sustain payoff, making them stronger in chained fights if the player can secure a down and survive long enough to benefit from the shield regeneration. The hop-up is not a flat damage buff, so it does not make every shotgun pellet stronger. Its value appears after a knock, which ties it to clean entry damage, close-range confidence and teamfight cleanup.
The hop-up shuffle around it is just as important. Dual Shell is removed from Mastiff. Disruptor Rounds are removed from Peacekeeper. Graffiti Mod is removed from Longbow DMR, Wingman and Mozambique, then added to Flatline and Volt. Turbocharger is added to Nemesis for 600 points, and Respawn says the weapon becomes fully heated after two bursts, letting it reach maximum fire rate much faster. Weapon numbers also shift: Hemlok Breach AR loses magazine size at every listed tier, with white magazine reduced from 21 to 20, blue from 24 to 22, and purple and gold from 27 to 25. EVA-8 and Mozambique both get a small handling speed increase. The net result is a Split 2 loot pool where shotguns gain sustain reward, Nemesis gains faster ramp potential, Hemlok Breach loses some magazine dominance and old hop-up pairings are pushed into new weapon roles.
| Weapon or hop-up | Change | Patch impact |
| Executioner | New hop-up for Peacekeeper and Mastiff, 375 points | 50 shield regeneration over 5 seconds after a knock |
| Turbocharger | Added to Nemesis, 600 points | Nemesis becomes fully heated after two bursts |
| Hemlok Breach AR | Magazine sizes reduced: 21 to 20, 24 to 22, 27 to 25 | Lower damage per magazine at higher tiers |
| EVA-8 | Small handling speed increase | Cleaner close-range handling |
| Mozambique | Small handling speed increase | Better handling while losing Graffiti Mod access |
| Dual Shell | Removed from Mastiff | Mastiff moves toward Executioner value instead |
| Disruptor Rounds | Removed from Peacekeeper | Peacekeeper loses shield-burst attachment pressure |
| Graffiti Mod | Removed from Longbow, Wingman and Mozambique, added to Flatline and Volt | Shifts the mod away from sidearm and sniper-style use into automatic weapons |
Ranked, Wildcard And Map Rotations In Overclocked Split 2

Ranked changes are smaller than the Legend and weapon changes, but they still affect match flow. Ranked Ladders are scheduled later in the split: Ladder 7 runs from July 2 to July 5, Ladder 8 from July 9 to July 12, Ladder 9 from July 16 to July 19, Ladder 10 from July 23 to July 26 and Ladder 11 from July 30 to August 2. Respawn also removes the Champion Squad screen from the Ranked match start flow. Players still see their own team on the Your Squad screen and then load directly into the dropship. The stated reason is that Champion Squad information is set by other players, can be misleading and often increases frustration before a match starts. Respawn says it is working toward a better representation of seasonal player skill, especially near the top of the lobby.
Split 2 map rotations are direct. Pubs uses Storm Point, World's Edge and Kings Canyon. Ranked uses Storm Point, World's Edge and E-District. Mixtape runs from June 23 to August 4 with TDM on Skull Town, Thunderdome, Fragment and Zeus Station, Control on Caustic, Production Yard, Thunderdome and Barometer, and Gun Run on Monument, Wattson Pylon, Skull Town and Thunderdome. Wildcard gets weekly map rotations after positive reception to Power Trip map rotations: Broken Moon Wildcard runs from June 23 to June 30, Olympus Wildcard from June 30 to July 7 and Kings Canyon Wildcard from July 7 to July 14. This gives the second half of Overclocked a fixed ranked map identity while keeping Wildcard moving weekly.
Bug Fixes, Audio, Engine And Map Quality Updates
The bug fix list includes several gameplay-specific fixes. Bots now loot weapons a few seconds after landing instead of never looting weapons. Beam Saber is no longer partially visible while cloaked from Mirage revive. Deathbox Respawn fixes stop players from getting stuck when respawned under low geometry, fix a Deathbox attachment exploit and properly restore hop-up weapons when a player is respawned from a Deathbox. Beacon Respawn now restores Akimbo weapons properly. Weapon fixes include Bocek, Rampage and Sentinel sometimes failing to energize while Infinite Ammo is active, gold shotgun bolts not applying the fire rate increase correctly when Double Tap Trigger is enabled, and the C.A.R. gold magazine now reloading while stowed as intended.
Legend-specific fixes include Axle's Jump Gate upgrade respecting the Movement Ability keybind, proper voicelines for pinging Axle's abilities in-world, most objects no longer attaching to Axle's Kickstart drone, Ballistic Tactical correctly affecting enemies hit while healing, and Mad Maggie's Wrecking Ball no longer bouncing off cloaked enemies without knockback or damage. The patch also fixes a startup crash for some PlayStation and Nintendo players when loading local save data. Map quality updates target Storm Point out-of-bounds spots, collision and lighting; World's Edge unintended Alter access; Kings Canyon out-of-bounds areas around popular POIs; and E-District out-of-bounds areas, unintended Alter ability access and lighting readability. Audio changes increase Deathbox Respawn In-Progress sound volume and audible radius for enemies, while graphics changes reduce bloom intensity on all maps and address framerate hitching when banners cycle in the world.
Conclusion
Apex Legends Overclocked Midseason Update is a heavy Split 2 patch with clear priorities. Ballistic, Pathfinder and Seer get more reliable tools. Axle, Mad Maggie, Valkyrie and Conduit lose some of the pressure that helped aggressive teams control pacing. Executioner gives Peacekeeper and Mastiff a new post-knock shield sustain reward, while Nemesis gains Turbocharger access and Hemlok Breach AR loses magazine strength. Ranked does not get a full system rebuild, but ladder dates and Champion Squad screen removal change the split's competitive flow. Wildcard and map rotations give the update a mode structure beyond balance numbers.
The strongest part of the patch is how many changes target actual match behavior. Shotguns are rewarded after confirmed knocks, not through a simple damage increase. Conduit is reduced because she was enabling aggressive compositions too easily. Axle loses constant speed access instead of losing her whole identity. Pathfinder gets uptime because he had fallen behind other skirmishers. Seer gets responsiveness rather than a full rework. If the numbers hold, Overclocked Split 2 should feel less dominated by nonstop speed and shield sustain while giving several lower-priority Legends and weapons a stronger reason to appear in real matches.
