AION 2 Hidden Cubes: Locations, Keys, Rewards & Respawn

AION 2 Hidden Cubes: Locations, Keys, Rewards & Respawn

AION 2 Hidden Cubes are shared open-world reward chests that can contain Soul Crystals, Silentium, Soul Codex items, Odyle Energy, consumables, cosmetics and even rare wings. They do not appear on the normal world map, and each cube can choose from several possible spawn positions.

The Global client defines 206 Hidden Cube spawn groups across Verteron, Eltnen, Altgard and Morheim. Those 206 cubes can appear across 3,722 candidate locations, which is why an online map can show thousands of markers even though only a much smaller number of cubes actually exist.

Quick answer: Verteron has 95 Hidden Cubes, Altgard 59, Eltnen 26 and Morheim 26. Cubes in Verteron and Altgard require a Hidden Cube Key. Eltnen and Morheim can spawn versions that may be opened without one. Using a key gives substantially better rewards.

How Many Hidden Cubes Are in AION 2?

There are 206 Hidden Cube spawn groups in the current Global client.

MapFactionHidden CubesPossible Spawn SpotsKey Required?
VerteronElyos951,440Yes
EltnenElyos26456Not always
AltgardAsmodian591,371Yes
MorheimAsmodian26455Not always

Poeta, Ishalgen and Reshanta do not contain Hidden Cube spawn groups in the current Global-client map data.

206 cubes vs 3,722 locations: do not confuse the two numbers. A cube belongs to a spawn group and chooses one of several possible positions. The thousands of map markers are candidate positions, not thousands of simultaneously available cubes.

Where to Find Hidden Cubes

Hidden Cubes are deliberately not shown on the normal world map or minimap.

They can appear:

  • behind ruins and structures;
  • against cliffs and rock walls;
  • beside rivers;
  • underwater;
  • away from normal quest paths;
  • around remote areas that players rarely check.

Each spawn group can have several possible positions, so finding a Cube at one coordinate does not guarantee that the same Cube will be there later.

Best Hidden Cube Locations in Verteron

Verteron has the largest number of Hidden Cubes in the Global client: 95.

For an efficient route, prioritize zones with several cubes instead of chasing isolated markers:

Verteron AreaHidden Cube Groups
Altamia Canyon9
Ellun River Midstream7
Verteron Fortress Ruins7
Aullaeu Village6

These four areas account for 29 Verteron cubes and are a better starting point than crossing the entire map for one isolated spawn group.

Bring keys: Verteron's current Hidden Cube groups use the key-only version.

Best Hidden Cube Locations in Altgard

Altgard contains 59 Hidden Cubes spread across 1,371 candidate positions.

Good areas to include in an Asmodian farming route are:

  • Dredgion Crash Site — 6 cube groups;
  • Purifying Forest — 4;
  • Battlescar Mound — 4;
  • Western Gribade Highland — 4.

Dredgion Crash Site is particularly dense, but its cube groups also use many possible spawn positions. Search the whole local cluster rather than running directly to one marker.

As in Verteron, Altgard Hidden Cubes require a key.

Hidden Cubes in Eltnen

Eltnen contains 26 Hidden Cube groups.

The densest areas include:

  • Eiron Hill — 7;
  • Eltnen Barrier Tower Ruins — 6;
  • Ruberein Highland — 5.

Unlike Verteron, Eltnen spawn groups can use the regular Hidden Cube version. When that version appears, you may open it normally or spend a key for the stronger reward table.

Hidden Cubes in Morheim

Morheim also contains 26 Hidden Cube groups.

The best areas to check first are:

  • Nephra Snowfield — 7;
  • Iralcig Highland — 5;
  • Muspel Volcano Zone — 5.

Like Eltnen, Morheim can spawn regular cubes that do not always force you to spend a key.

Do You Need a Hidden Cube Key?

It depends on the map.

MapCube Rule
VerteronKey required
AltgardKey required
EltnenRegular or key-only version can appear
MorheimRegular or key-only version can appear

A regular Cube can show both Open and Open with Key. Spending the key switches to the stronger reward table.

A key-only Cube cannot be opened without Key: Hidden Cube (Bound).

How to Get Hidden Cube Keys

Hidden Cube Keys are bound items and one key is consumed when used.

Verified Global-client sources include:

  • early Hero quests;
  • District quests;
  • Who Brought the Chest? achievement tiers;
  • Season Shop;
  • Level 45 Duty rewards;
  • Battle Pass / Daeva Pass sources;
  • Monolith progression;
  • attendance and selected event rewards.

Guaranteed Early Quest Keys

Client data lists one key from the early Hero quest:

  • Odyle Collection — Elyos;
  • Contaminated Area — Asmodian.

Another fixed key comes from the faction's related District quest later in progression.

Who Brought the Chest? Achievement

The Hidden Cube achievement chain rewards additional keys as you open more cubes.

The tiers continue up to 200 Cube opens, which also tells us something important: Hidden Cubes are intended as a repeatable activity rather than a one-time collectible checklist.

Should You Use a Key or Open for Free?

If a Cube allows a free opening, using a key still provides substantially stronger rewards.

RewardRegular OpenKey Open
Silentium1 guaranteed + possible extra10 guaranteed + possible extras
Soul Crystal roll1001,000
Small Odyle EnergyLower roll chanceHigher roll chance
Soul Codex1Up to 5 on the matching roll
Power ShardsSmaller quantityLarger quantity
Rare cosmetics / wingsBase reward weightHigher reward weight

For most players, the 1,000 Soul Crystal roll is one of the strongest practical reasons to spend a key.

Hidden Cube Rewards

The Global client links dozens of reward entries to Hidden Cubes.

Possible rewards include:

  • Silentium;
  • Soul Crystals;
  • Soul Codex;
  • Soul Codex: Reset;
  • Small Odyle Energy;
  • Power Shards and Superior Power Shards;
  • Mana Potions;
  • Life Crystals;
  • Resurrection Spiritstones;
  • Status Effect Resist Scrolls;
  • Lucky Aura items;
  • helm, earring and necklace appearance skins;
  • Emote: Kurukuru;
  • rare Radiant Love Wings.

The exact reward percentages can vary by Cube table. Before opening, the in-game reward window is the safest place to check the percentages attached to that specific Cube.

Can Hidden Cubes Drop Radiant Love Wings?

Yes. Radiant Love Wings are included among the rare Hidden Cube reward entries in the Global client.

The roll is rare, and using a key increases the reward weight compared with a regular opening.

Do not farm Hidden Cubes expecting wings from every session. Treat them as a jackpot reward while Soul Crystals, Silentium and progression items provide the reliable value.

Do Hidden Cubes Respawn?

Yes, Hidden Cubes are repeatable and are not permanent one-time collectibles.

However, the Global client does not expose a reliable fixed respawn timer that we can quote.

What we can verify:

  • a Cube disappears after it is opened;
  • it is shared with other players;
  • each Cube spawn group has multiple possible positions;
  • the Cube is not part of the normal timed-spawn table used for systems such as field bosses;
  • the next Cube does not have to appear at the same coordinate.

Do not rely on claims such as “30-minute respawn” as a guaranteed Global rule. Community observations vary, while the client data itself does not provide a fixed Hidden Cube respawn timer.

Can Another Player Take Your Hidden Cube?

Yes. Hidden Cubes are shared world objects.

Opening takes a short channel, and once another player successfully opens the Cube, it despawns.

If you find one in a busy area and already have the required key, it is usually better to open it immediately rather than mark it and return later.

Why Is the Hidden Cube Missing From the Marked Location?

This is normal.

An online map usually displays possible spawn positions. Only one of those positions may be active for a particular spawn group at that moment.

If the first marker is empty:

  1. Search the rest of the local marker cluster.
  2. Check above and below cliffs.
  3. Check water and riverbeds.
  4. Listen and look carefully while moving through the area.
  5. Remember that another player may have opened the Cube already.

Fast Hidden Cube Farming Route

The most efficient approach is to combine Cube hunting with other open-world progression instead of crossing the entire map for isolated spawns.

Elyos Route

Eltnen: Eiron Hill → Eltnen Barrier Tower Ruins → Ruberein Highland.

Then move to Verteron with keys:

Altamia Canyon → Ellun River Midstream → Verteron Fortress Ruins → Aullaeu Village.

Asmodian Route

Morheim: Nephra Snowfield → Iralcig Highland → Muspel Volcano Zone.

Then move to Altgard with keys:

Dredgion Crash Site → Purifying Forest → Battlescar Mound → Western Gribade Highland.

Best Hidden Cube Farming Tips

  • Carry keys before starting a Verteron or Altgard route.
  • Start with dense zones rather than isolated Cube groups.
  • Search complete clusters instead of one map marker.
  • Check underwater positions.
  • Use Kibelisks to reduce travel time.
  • Open shared Cubes immediately in populated areas.
  • Combine Cube routes with Empyrean Trace, gathering or regional progression.
  • Do not waste a key on a free Cube unless the improved reward table is worth it to you.

For another exploration system, see our AION 2 Empyrean Traces & Monolith Guide.

Hidden Cubes and Odyle Energy

Hidden Cubes can reward Small Odyle Energy, which restores Odyle Energy used for eligible dungeon reward Cubes.

This is not the same as the gatherable crafting material called Odyle.

For recharge rates, caps and the best spending strategy, use our AION 2 Odyle Energy Guide.

Are Hidden Cubes Worth Farming?

Yes, if you already have keys or can combine the route with other open-world objectives.

The strongest repeatable value comes from Soul Crystals, Silentium and other progression materials. Cosmetics and Radiant Love Wings are bonuses rather than something you should expect from every farming session.

The least efficient method is flying across an entire map to check isolated possible positions one by one.

AION 2 Hidden Cube FAQ

How many Hidden Cubes are there?

The current Global client defines 206 Hidden Cube spawn groups across four field maps.

Why do maps show more than 3,000 locations?

Those are candidate spawn positions. The 206 Cube groups can choose between 3,722 possible spots.

Do Hidden Cubes need keys?

All Verteron and Altgard Hidden Cubes are key-only in the current Global spawn data. Eltnen and Morheim can also spawn regular Cubes.

Where do Hidden Cube Keys come from?

Quests, achievements, Season Shop, Duties, Pass rewards, Monolith progression, attendance and selected events.

Do Hidden Cubes respawn?

They are repeatable, but there is no verified fixed Global respawn timer in the client data.

Can Hidden Cubes drop wings?

Yes. Radiant Love Wings are included among the rare reward entries.

Can another player take a Cube?

Yes. Cubes are shared, and they despawn after a successful open.

Conclusion

The key to Hidden Cube farming is understanding that locations are dynamic. AION 2 Global has 206 Cube spawn groups but thousands of possible positions, so search dense clusters instead of expecting a chest at every marker.

Bring keys to Verteron or Altgard, prioritize Soul Crystal and progression value, and treat rare cosmetics and Radiant Love Wings as bonus jackpots rather than guaranteed farm rewards.
