Reaching 2600 Item Level in AION 2 is less about farming every available dungeon and more about finding the upgrades your character has overlooked. The October 21 Global update introduced Hard Krao Cave and Draupnir with a 2600 entry requirement, so players already sitting around 2200–2500 have a specific target to work toward. Tier 3 Expedition gear, stronger Arcana, Clash Runes, upgraded belts and amulets, and spent Daevanion points can all contribute to the missing score. The trick is choosing upgrades that provide enough Item Level without draining your Kina on tiny improvements. This guide focuses on that final push to 2600, including which activities to prioritize, how to calculate your remaining deficit and what to check before joining a Hard dungeon. It does not retrace the entire gearing journey from level 1.
Short answer: To reach 2600 Item Level quickly, replace remaining Tier 2 equipment with Tier 3 pieces, upgrade your equipped Arcana, fill missing Clash Rune slots, check your Noble Belt and Revelation Amulet progression, and spend available Daevanion points before paying for expensive enhancements. At 2600, you can enter Hard Krao Cave and Draupnir; Hard Urugugu Canyon and Vakron Sky Island require 2700.
What Does 2600 Item Level Unlock in AION 2?
For a level 45 character on the Global servers, 2600 is the entry threshold for Krao Cave (Hard) and Draupnir (Hard). NC introduced these difficulties in its October 21 Expedition update. The requirement is your character's total equipped Item Level, often called Gear Score by players, rather than the item level printed on one weapon or armor piece. An item showing level 86 contributes toward the total; it does not mean your character needs a level 2600 weapon.
There is an important distinction after the latest update. Hard Urugugu Canyon and Vakron Sky Island were added on October 28 with a higher 2700 Item Level requirement. If your immediate goal is the first pair of Hard Expeditions, stop treating 2700 as mandatory. Those extra 100 points are a separate progression target, and pursuing them before your first 2600 clear can waste time and materials you might need for the actual fights.
| Item Level | Available content | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 2100 | Fire Temple and Ferocious Horn Den Conquest | Source of Tier 3 equipment with higher base Item Level |
| 2200 | Deus Research Base and Shattered Arkanis, Transcendence Stage 3 | Access to stronger Arcana, including possible Unique cards |
| 2500 | Transcendence Stage 4 | Another Arcana farming option for closing the final gap |
| 2600 | Krao Cave (Hard) and Draupnir (Hard) | The target of this guide |
| 2700 | Urugugu Canyon (Hard) and Vakron Sky Island (Hard) | A later goal, not required for the first two Hard dungeons |
Hard Krao Cave and Draupnir offer more than a higher difficulty setting. Their rewards include Ariel Fragments for the Ariel Daevanion system, opportunities to obtain Unique crafting materials and a chance at Philosopher's Stone: Revelation. That is why getting through the 2600 gate matters even if you are still wearing equipment from regular Conquest Expeditions.
Check Exactly How Much Item Level You Need
Before spending anything, open your character equipment screen and subtract your current Item Level from 2600. A character at 2572 needs just 28 points; someone at 2260 needs 340. Those are completely different problems. The first player should look for unspent progression points or a few inexpensive upgrades, while the second probably needs several better equipment pieces and Arcana improvements. Starting another random dungeon without checking the deficit is an easy way to spend Odyle Energy without moving closer to the entry requirement.
- Confirm your character is level 45. Item Level does not replace the character-level requirement for endgame Hard Expeditions.
- Write down your current score and the remaining gap. Use the actual equipped total rather than an estimate based on inventory items.
- Inspect every equipped gear slot. Look for Tier 2 pieces, empty equipment slots, underdeveloped belts and amulets, and items with noticeably lower base Item Level than the rest of your set.
- Check your five Arcana slots and Clash Rune equipment. A missing card or rune may be worth more than several ordinary enhancement successes.
- Open your Daevanion boards. Check for crystals and points that have been earned but not spent.
- Review available stones, Kina and Odyle Energy. These determine whether your final points are best earned through an immediate upgrade or another targeted reward claim.
This is also the useful starting point when comparing different gear-score progression targets. A character missing 30 points does not need the same gearing plan as one missing 300. Once you know which slots are responsible for the gap, you can work on those slots and leave the rest of your equipment alone.
Which Upgrades Raise Item Level the Fastest?
Not all upgrades contribute equally to your displayed score. The Global client's Item Level calculation includes equipped item levels, enhancements, equipped Arcana, runes, spent Daevanion points and eligible stone bonuses. The contributions below are supported by current client data and character comparisons documented by Aion2Data's Item Level analysis. These are useful planning values rather than guaranteed net increases: the amount you actually gain depends on what is already equipped, previous enhancement levels and whether an upgrade replaces existing bonuses.
| Upgrade | Potential gain | When to prioritize it |
|---|---|---|
| Equip a missing Clash Rune | +40 from its base Item Level | Immediately, if an eligible slot is empty and you already have access to the rune |
| Upgrade one Arcana by one grade | Typically +20 base Item Level | When a higher-grade card can replace a weaker equipped card |
| Replace a Tier 2 item with a Tier 3 item | Typically +16 base Item Level, comparing level 70 with level 86 | When you still wear older Expedition equipment |
| Spend Daevanion points | +1 per point spent | First, if the points are already available; otherwise pursue unfinished sources |
| Add or improve eligible stone lines | Manastones and Soulstones: Common +1, Rare +2, Epic +3, Unique +4 per line; Theostones: Rare +3, Epic +5 | For smaller gaps, provided the cost is reasonable |
| Normal equipment enhancement | +1 per successful enhancement level | For small remaining deficits or when the upgrade also helps combat performance |
| Amplified enhancement | +5 per Amplify level | Only if the item is eligible and you can justify the much higher investment |
These numbers explain why blindly enhancing every piece is usually a poor shortcut. Replacing a level 40 Rare Arcana with a level 60 Epic Arcana can add 20 base points at once, provided their enhancement bonuses are equal. An already enhanced Rare card may produce a smaller net gain when replaced by an unenhanced Epic card. Arcana enhancement itself also contributes +1 Item Level per successful level. Before investing heavily in ordinary gear, check your Noble Belt and Revelation Amulet as well. Their progression through Substance Morph can raise base Item Level from 13 (Rare) to 36 (Epic), then to 65 (Unique), representing base increases of 23 and 29 points. Each conversion requires the appropriate enhanced predecessor and materials, and the resulting item's enhancement level must be considered when calculating the actual gain.

If your equipped set still contains level 70 Tier 2 Expedition pieces, the most direct equipment improvement comes from the level 2100 Conquest bracket. Fire Temple supplies weapons and accessories, while Ferocious Horn Den is the corresponding armor source. Their Tier 3 Unique equipment reaches base Item Level 86, compared with 70 on the previous tier. For two otherwise comparable pieces, that is a 16-point difference before considering enhancement levels, stones and other attached systems.
Choose the dungeon based on your actual weak slots. If your weapon and accessories are already Tier 3 but three armor pieces are still Tier 2, another Fire Temple run is unlikely to solve your immediate problem as efficiently as Ferocious Horn Den. Likewise, replacing a poor weapon can improve both your displayed score and the damage your group needs for Hard Mode. Check persistent items such as your belt and amulet separately, since their progression follows different upgrade paths. The AION 2 Dungeons Guide covers the wider Expedition lineup; for this 2600 target, the only question is which available reward can replace the weakest item you currently wear.
It is worth planning Expedition clears around those missing equipment categories because reward claims consume Odyle Energy. Getting an unusable duplicate does not improve your Item Level, and a completed run is not a promise that the exact piece you need will drop. Check the available reward selection, claim progress and remaining weekly opportunities before committing your energy.
Use Transcendence Arcana to Cover Larger Gaps
Arcana are especially valuable for players who have already replaced most of their older gear. You can equip five cards, and their base Item Levels rise by grade: Common 20, Rare 40, Epic 60 and Unique 80. Moving one equipped card up a grade adds 20 base points; upgrading three Rare cards to Epic adds 60 base points before accounting for differences in enhancement. Those gains count only when the stronger cards are equipped, so an impressive Unique Arcana sitting in your inventory will not help you enter Hard Mode.
At 2200, Target Transcendence Stage 3
Once you qualify for Stage 3 of Deus Research Base or Shattered Arkanis, you can pursue Arcana rewards that include Epic and possible Unique cards. This is often the most useful route for someone with reasonable Tier 3 gear but a weak Arcana setup. Check all five positions before selecting what to replace: swapping a Rare card for an Epic card gives the same 20-point base increase whether that Rare card is in your first or fifth slot. Compare enhancement levels and prioritize cards that also improve your combat build instead of equipping a worse combat option solely because its base Item Level is higher.
At 2500, Stage 4 Can Finish the Push
Stage 4 of these Transcendence dungeons opens at 2500 Item Level, not 2600. That makes it relevant to the last 100 points before Hard Krao Cave and Draupnir. The higher stage offers another opportunity to obtain Unique Arcana, although a particular card is not guaranteed from every reward claim. If you are at 2520 with several Rare or Epic cards equipped, Stage 4 may offer a meaningful upgrade. If all five cards are already strong and you need only 12 points, spending several claims chasing another Unique card could be slower than using other available systems.
The practical rule is simple: use Arcana farming for meaningful gaps, then stop once your missing points can be covered more reliably. Your next reward claim should have a clear purpose, whether that is replacing a Rare card, improving a weak weapon or gathering resources for an upgrade you have already identified.
Do Not Ignore Clash Runes and Daevanion Points
Two characters can own similar weapons and armor yet have very different total Item Levels because their permanent progression and supporting equipment differ. That is why a 2600 audit should include systems outside the familiar weapon-and-armor slots. You do not need to clear every side activity in the game; you need to identify which unfinished objectives provide points your character can use now.
Check Both Clash Rune Slots
A Clash Rune has a base Item Level of 40, making an empty eligible slot an unusually large missed opportunity. Two equipped Clash Runes provide 80 base Item Level before enhancement. Check whether you have a rune in your inventory, an unopened Clash Rune Chest or Bundle, or an unfinished quest that awards one. Current Global item data lists Clash Rune rewards from quests and specific chests, so there is no reason to assume the only solution is buying a replacement. Equipping an available rune is the priority; enhancing a Clash Rune heavily is a different matter, with its own success chances, possible level loss on failure and potentially high costs.
Spend Earned Daevanion Points Before Farming More Gear
Daevanion progression contributes to Item Level through points actually spent on the board. If you have earned crystals but never allocated the resulting points, finish that step before spending Kina on minor gear enhancements. A node requiring several points contributes according to the number spent, so the total matters more than how many individual nodes you open. If you still have unfinished regional quests, Sealed Dungeons or other available Daevanion sources, check which ones offer a practical gain for your remaining deficit.
One detail matters here: Ariel Fragments are rewards from the Hard Expeditions you are trying to unlock. They feed the Ariel Daevanion progression system after you can access that content. Do not build your pre-2600 plan around farming Ariel Fragments from a dungeon you cannot yet enter. For this particular threshold, focus on Daevanion points and sources already accessible to your character.
Use Stones for the Last Few Points
Manastone and Soulstone lines contribute +1 to +4 Item Level depending on their grade, while Rare Theostones contribute +3 and Epic Theostones +5. These are useful when you are almost at 2600, especially if you already own suitable stones. However, a stone upgrade that adds only a handful of points should not become an expensive crafting project when an unfilled rune slot or lower-grade Arcana remains. Compare the displayed score after every change, and remember that not all attached systems carry over when you replace a piece of equipment.
The Fastest Route Depends on Your Starting Score
There is no single farming loop that is best for every character. The closer you are to 2600, the less attractive a major equipment rebuild becomes. Use your current score to decide how much of the remaining work should come from dungeon rewards and how much can be finished through existing progression systems. These brackets assume a level 45 character with access to the relevant content.
| Current Item Level | Best first move | What to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Below 2100 | Reach the Tier 3 Conquest bracket through normal endgame progression | Trying to skip the remaining foundational gear upgrades |
| 2100–2199 | Replace Tier 2 gear through Fire Temple and Ferocious Horn Den | Spending heavily to enhance items you are about to replace |
| 2200–2499 | Combine missing Tier 3 pieces with Stage 3 Arcana and accessible Daevanion gains | Repeating dungeons that cannot improve your weakest slots |
| 2500–2599 | Audit Arcana, runes, unspent points, belt and amulet progression, and stones; use Stage 4 when a card upgrade is still needed | High-risk enhancements for a small, otherwise achievable deficit |
| 2600 or higher | Prepare your combat setup and enter Hard Krao Cave or Draupnir | Waiting for 2700 when your chosen dungeon requires only 2600 |
If you are below 2100, you are still working through the broader endgame equipment route. The existing AION 2 Gear Progression Guide explains those systems in detail. This guide becomes most useful once you have access to Tier 3 Conquest and need to make a limited number of deliberate improvements to cross the Hard Mode entry line.
Example: Closing a 142-Point Item Level Gap
Suppose your character is at 2458 Item Level, leaving exactly 142 points to reach 2600. You find one empty Clash Rune slot, three Rare Arcana cards that could be upgraded to Epic, two level 70 equipment pieces suitable for replacement with level 86 pieces, and 10 Daevanion points you have already earned but not allocated. If all those upgrades are available, and the replacements preserve equivalent existing bonuses, you can build a plan without committing to a large enhancement gamble.
- Equip one Clash Rune in the empty slot: +40.
- Replace three equipped Rare Arcana with Epic versions: +60 in base Item Level, assuming equal enhancement bonuses.
- Replace two level 70 gear pieces with level 86 versions: +32 in base Item Level, assuming other bonuses remain comparable.
- Spend the 10 available Daevanion points: +10.
The planned gains total 142 points, which would take the character from 2458 to 2600 if all four changes produce their expected net increases. It is an illustration, not a universal shopping list: most characters will have a different combination of missing slots and available rewards. In particular, transferring enhancements, replacing enhanced Arcana or changing equipment with socketed stones can alter the net result. Check the actual displayed Item Level after each upgrade and recalculate the remaining gap rather than assuming every theoretical point has been added.
Avoid Spending Your Kina on the Wrong Upgrades
Ordinary enhancement usually adds just one Item Level per successful level. That can be worthwhile when you need the extra combat stats or when only a few points remain, but it is an inefficient way to close a deficit of several hundred. Amplified enhancement offers a larger Item Level contribution per level, yet it is tied to eligible gear that has reached the required enhancement threshold and should not be treated as the default catch-up method. A limited Kina budget goes further when you spend it on an identified improvement instead of repeatedly testing enhancement chances on temporary equipment.
Equipment replacement also deserves care. Regular Gear Transfer can preserve enhancement levels and eligible Soul Binding progression, but the source item is consumed and other attached systems do not necessarily follow it. Fixed Soul Binding effects may be excluded, and some Soul Fuse conditions can prevent a transfer altogether. Manastones, Soulstones, Theostones and Potential should be checked separately before confirming. Losing valuable attached bonuses can make a theoretically higher-level replacement less useful than it first appears.
The October 28 official patch notes also expanded transfer options between Expedition and crafted gear, including Tier 3 Expedition equipment into Tier 2 crafted equipment. That creates additional upgrade paths, but a newly allowed transfer is not automatically an Item Level increase. Compare the target item's base level, your preserved enhancement and the final preview before consuming anything. The goal here is to reach 2600 with useful combat equipment, not to perform the most complicated transfer available.
Where to Spend Odyle Energy Before Hard Mode
Odyle Energy determines how often you can claim many important dungeon rewards, so farming efficiently means choosing the right reward source rather than simply clearing more instances. Main Conquest and Transcendence reward claims commonly use 40 Odyle Energy in the current Global client. If the weak point in your build is a Tier 2 armor piece, prioritize the relevant Tier 3 Expedition reward. If your gear is already solid but your Arcana cards are poor, Transcendence is the better candidate. Always check the reward cube, remaining claim opportunities and the available selection before spending energy.
There is also a timely opportunity to ease that bottleneck. NC's Odyle Energy Boost event announcement confirms that players can receive four Odyle Energy items through in-game mail once per account per day from October 28 until the November 10 or 11 maintenance, depending on region. The mail expires after seven days, so check it before planning another farming session. These extra items are useful for whichever reward source can actually improve your equipped character.
The October 28 official AION 2 Steam announcements also detail changes to weekly Odyle Energy availability through Wind Breeze Merchants and the new Prelude to Flight Daeva Pass. Review the current shop and pass rewards before using scarce resources on the assumption that your existing energy balance is all you can obtain. Just remember that extra claims improve your opportunities; they do not guarantee a particular dungeon item or Arcana card.
Is 2600 Enough to Clear Hard Krao Cave and Draupnir?
2600 is an entry requirement, not a guarantee of an easy clear. Hard Krao Cave and Draupnir have a four-minute boss Frenzy timer and limit each player to three revives. The October 28 balance pass reduced Hard Expedition bosses' Attack and Damage Boost values by 10% each relative to their previous values, which should make the encounters more manageable. Even so, a party that barely meets the entry requirement can struggle if its members sacrifice important damage, survivability or role-specific stats just to raise their displayed Item Levels.
Before your first Hard run, check that your equipped Arcana supports your actual class, your important skills and combat setup are ready, and your consumables are stocked. If you replaced a strong piece with a weaker combat option for a few Item Level points, compare the result carefully. A coordinated party that handles boss mechanics cleanly and deals consistent damage is in a better position than a group whose members reached 2600 by equipping whatever produced the highest number.
Once the threshold is met, there is little reason to keep farming ordinary content solely to make the number look better if your combat setup is already sound. Enter the Hard dungeon you intend to farm, learn the encounter and use its rewards to continue progressing. The next meaningful question becomes how reliably you can finish the fight before Frenzy becomes a problem, rather than how quickly you can add another 20 points to your character sheet.
AION 2 Item Level 2600 FAQ
These are the remaining questions worth checking before you commit your resources or queue for your first Hard Expedition.
Can I enter Hard Urugugu Canyon or Vakron Sky Island at 2600 Item Level?
No. The October 28 Global update introduced those Hard difficulties with a 2700 Item Level requirement. At 2600, your relevant Hard options are Krao Cave and Draupnir.
Does an Arcana card in my inventory increase Item Level?
No. You need to equip the card for its Item Level to contribute to your character's total. Check all five Arcana slots and compare the equipped card's grade and enhancement with the replacement before making the swap.
Do unspent Daevanion points count toward the 2600 requirement?
No. Current Global character calculations count Daevanion points that have been spent on board progression. If you have points available, allocate them and check your updated character score.
Should I enhance every piece to reach 2600 faster?
Usually not. Enhancement can finish a small deficit, but larger gaps are often better addressed through higher-base-level equipment, Arcana, belt and amulet upgrades, and missing supporting slots. Calculate your available gains before committing to costly enhancement attempts.
Your Final Check Before Entering Hard Mode
Reach 2600 by fixing the biggest gaps in your equipped setup first: missing runes, outdated equipment, weaker Arcana, underdeveloped belt and amulet progression, and unused Daevanion points. Spend Odyle Energy only where a reward can move your character forward, and save expensive enhancements for situations where they are genuinely needed. Once the entry requirement is met, shift your attention from the Item Level number to surviving and completing the Hard dungeon itself.
