AION 2 Pet Souls are farmed from specific monsters across Verteron, Altgard, the Abyss and several dungeons. The current EU/NA client contains 209 pets: 162 have monster Soul sources, 46 come from shops, quests or chests, and one currently has no recorded acquisition source. Verteron and Altgard contain most of the practical Global pet farms.
Quick answer: Elyos should start in Verteron and Asmodians in Altgard, farming areas where several missing pet species overlap. At level 45, use Spacetime Rifts for pets that only have monster sources on the enemy faction map, then complete Abyss and dungeon-only pets. Do not search the map for every pet: dozens have no open-world monster source at all.
AION 2 Pet Locations at a Glance
| Source | Pets in Current Client | Availability |
|---|---|---|
| Verteron | 113 pets with recorded Soul monsters | Primary Elyos map |
| Altgard | 108 | Primary Asmodian map |
| Chaotic Lower Reshanta | 25 | Abyss |
| Eltnen | 1 recorded later source | Later progression |
| Morheim | 2 recorded later sources | Later progression |
| Chaotic Middle Reshanta | 27 recorded later sources | Later progression |
| Dungeons | 5 dungeon-only pets | Krao Cave, Fire Temple, Draupnir sources |
| Shop / Quest / Chest / Event | 46 | No normal monster farm |
| No known current source | 1 | Do not waste time searching the world map |
These counts overlap by region because one pet can have Soul monsters on more than one map. They are location coverage numbers, not separate unique-pet totals.
How to Find Any Pet Location In Game
The fastest way to verify a pet before farming is the game's own Pet menu.
- Open Pets.
- Select the pet you want.
- Open its Source information.
- Check which monsters can provide its Soul.
- Use the listed monster location to choose the closest farming area.
This matters because pets are linked to their Soul-dropping monster, not necessarily to a monster with exactly the same visible name.
For example, one pet can have several valid monster variants and multiple maps. Always farm the actual source monster shown for the pet.
How Pet Soul Farming Works
Five copies of a pet's Soul register that pet at Pet Insight Lv1. More Souls raise it further:
| Goal | Additional Souls | Total Souls |
|---|---|---|
| Unlock Pet | 5 | 5 |
| Pet Insight Lv2 | 25 | 30 |
| Pet Insight Lv3 | 75 | 105 |
If your goal is collection and Genus Insight progress, it is usually more efficient to unlock several new pets before spending 105 Souls on every pet you encounter.

Do not assume that every kill is guaranteed to drop a Soul on EU/NA Global.
The current client identifies which monsters can provide each Soul, but it does not expose a reliable real-world drop chance that we can quote as a universal Global percentage.
Some older KR/TW notes and community tools describe guaranteed or near-guaranteed Soul behavior, while current Global player observations vary. For this guide, a monster being listed means it is a valid source, not that every individual kill is guaranteed to produce a Soul.
Best Pet Farming Strategy
The fastest collection route is not to farm one pet at a time across the whole continent.
Instead:
- Choose a zone close to your current level.
- Check which pets in that zone you still need.
- Farm a dense camp containing several different Soul monsters.
- Get five Souls for new pets first.
- Move to the next cluster once the easy unlocks are finished.
- Return later for Lv2 and Lv3 Souls.
This gives much better collection progress per hour than crossing the map for one isolated species.
Best Elyos Pet Farming Locations in Verteron
Verteron is the main Elyos pet map and the latest EU/NA client records Soul sources for 113 pets there.
For the current level-45 Global progression, these are some of the most useful multi-pet areas:
| Area | Pet Species With Recorded Soul Monsters | Monster Level | Best Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eastern / Western Cantas Valley | Several early pets | 10–13+ | First collection unlocks |
| Ellun River Midstream | 19 | around 18 | Excellent early multi-pet farming |
| Pilgrim's Ridge | 10 | around 27 | Mid-level collection progress |
| Garden of the Illusion God | 19 | 44–45 | One of the strongest current endgame Verteron farms |
Early Elyos Pet Locations
| Pet | Monster to Farm | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Papis | Gentle Papis | Eastern / Western Cantas Valley |
| Kalgolem | Hard Kalgolem | Western Cantas Valley |
| Fungen | Red Cap Fungen | Eastern Cantas Valley |
| Aberrant Tog | Cairn Tog | Eastern Cantas Valley |
| Marsh Targon | Marsh Targon | Ellun River Marsh / Contaminated Marsh |
These are useful starter targets because they can be collected naturally while progressing through the same sections of Verteron.
Best Asmodian Pet Farming Locations in Altgard
Altgard currently contains recorded monster sources for 108 pets.
| Area | Pet Species With Recorded Soul Monsters | Monster Level | Best Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dredgion Crash Site / nearby early zones | Several starter sources | 10+ | Early Varian and mixed collection |
| Tranein Highland | 11 | 13–20 | Early multi-pet route |
| Purifying Forest | 23 | 26–32 | One of the best current collection zones |
| Fafnite Deposit | 12 | 35–36 | Dense mid/endgame farming |
Early Asmodian Pet Locations
| Pet | Monster to Farm | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Drana Mutant | Twisted Mutant | Dredgion Crash Site |
| Papis | Faded Papis | Nameless Cemetery / Safe Haven |
| Aberrant Bee | Black Armor Bee | Calderon Canyon / Nameless Cemetery area |
| Dratona | Dratona Tinkerer | Sanctum Outpost |
| Young Kailin | Young Kailin | Tranein Highland / Tranein Pond / Sanctum Outpost |
Best Current Pet Farming Areas by Level
| Level Range | Elyos | Asmodian |
|---|---|---|
| 10–20 | Cantas Valley → Ellun River Midstream | Dredgion Crash Site → Tranein Highland |
| 20–35 | Pilgrim's Ridge and nearby Verteron clusters | Purifying Forest |
| 35–45 | Garden of the Illusion God | Fafnite Deposit and nearby high-level Altgard camps |
| Level 45+ | Chaotic Lower Reshanta + enemy-faction Rift farming | |
Pet Locations in Chaotic Lower Reshanta
The current Global client records 25 pets with Soul monsters in Chaotic Lower Reshanta.
This is especially useful after level 45 because both factions can expand their collection through Abyss monsters instead of relying only on their home continent.
Examples in the current data include pets sourced from Abyss versions of monsters such as Swarm, Spider, Modified Karnif, Blue Kalgolem, Contaminated Slime, Nepenthes and Zelophi.
Abyss farming should come after the easy home-map unlocks because Verteron and Altgard contain far more early collection targets.
Enemy-Faction Pet Locations
The current EU/NA data separates monster-source pets into:
| Elyos-only monster sources | 44 pets |
|---|---|
| Asmodian-only monster sources | 39 pets |
| Monster sources on both faction sides | 69 pets |
This means a complete monster-farm collection eventually requires access beyond your normal home map.
How to Farm Enemy-Faction Pets With Spacetime Rifts
Spacetime Rifts are the main direct way to farm monster Souls in the opposite faction's home region.
- Elyos use the Rift to reach Altgard.
- Asmodians use it to reach Verteron.
- Rifts open on a recurring three-hour cycle.
- The entry portal is only available for a short window.
- Once inside, your time on the enemy side is limited.
Because the visit is timed, do not enter without a plan.
Best Rift Pet-Farming Method
- Before the Rift opens, filter your collection for missing faction-exclusive pets.
- Pick one or two dense areas rather than the entire continent.
- Prioritize pets with no home-faction or Abyss source.
- Ignore pets you can farm safely on your own map later.
- Move to another species as soon as you have the five Souls needed for a new unlock.
Use our AION 2 Timers for the next Rift window.
Can You Farm Every Pet From Monsters?
No. This is one of the most important things to know before using a pet map.
Of the current 209 pets:
- 162 have monster Soul sources;
- 46 are obtained through non-monster sources such as shops, quests or chests;
- 1 currently has no known acquisition source in the EU/NA client data.
If a pet has no monster source, running around a world-map marker will never solve the problem.
Pets From Dungeons
Five current pets are classified as dungeon-only monster farms, with recorded sources across:
- Krao Cave;
- Fire Temple;
- Draupnir.
Some dungeon pets can have more than one recorded dungeon source, which is why the number of source entries is larger than the number of unique dungeon-only pets.
Pets From Shops, Events and Chests
Notable current examples include:
| Pet | Known Source Type |
|---|---|
| Pagati | Tsenka / pet chest source |
| Black Dragon | Daeva reward chest |
| Swift Lugi | Daeva Pass |
| Wandering Merchant Lugi | Shugo Festival shop |
| White Bunny | Atelier |
| Chonky Hamster | Atelier |
| Little Ghost | Seasonal Halloween shop |
| Pumpkin Carriage | Seasonal Halloween shop |
Check a pet's current Source entry before farming, especially for Special pets and event pets.
Why Do Different AION 2 Pet Maps Show Different Numbers?
Different pet maps can all be technically correct while showing different counts.
The main reasons are:
- one site may use an older client version;
- one map counts pets while another counts monster spawn points;
- one source may exclude later-content maps;
- one pet can have multiple valid monsters and regions;
- some databases list a source even when the corresponding map is not part of current level-cap progression.
For example, the latest EU/NA 2.0.7.0 client lists 113 pets with a Verteron monster source, while earlier 2.0.6.0 map extracts can show 112. This guide uses the newer client-wide source count and treats older map totals as snapshots rather than contradictions.
Pet Markers vs Monster Spawn Points
A pet does not equal one map marker.
One pet can drop from several monster variants, and each monster can have many spawn points. A map can therefore display hundreds of pins while representing a much smaller number of unique pets.
Use the pet name as your target first, then choose the densest group of valid monster spawns.
Should You Farm 5 or 105 Souls?
For a missing pet, get five Souls first unless the area is unusually efficient and you already know you want Lv3 immediately.
Five Souls:
- register the pet;
- add its Owned Effect;
- advance collection progress;
- provide the most efficient early Genus Insight EXP.
Come back for the full 105 Souls after you have collected the easy Lv1 pets in that region.
Fast Pet Collection Route
Elyos
Cantas Valley → Ellun River Midstream → Pilgrim's Ridge → Garden of the Illusion God → Chaotic Lower Reshanta → Altgard via Spacetime Rift
Asmodian
Dredgion Crash Site / early Altgard → Tranein Highland → Purifying Forest → Fafnite Deposit → Chaotic Lower Reshanta → Verteron via Spacetime Rift
This is a collection-first route, not a requirement to clear every species in each zone before moving on.
Best Pet Farming Tips
- Use the in-game Pet Source panel before searching an external map.
- Farm several missing pets in one area.
- Unlock for five Souls first, max later.
- Do not assume every valid monster guarantees a Soul every kill.
- Save faction-exclusive targets for Spacetime Rift sessions.
- Do not waste Rift time on a pet that also has a home-map source.
- Check Abyss and dungeons before assuming a pet is shop-only.
- Check shops and events before searching the world for a Special pet.
- Ignore level-46+ farming recommendations while your current Global progression is capped at 45.

AION 2 Pet Locations FAQ
Where do you get pets in AION 2?
Most normal pets are registered by collecting Souls from their associated monsters. Other pets come from dungeons, quests, chests, shops, the Daeva Pass or events.
How many pets can be farmed from monsters?
The current EU/NA 2.0.7.0 client records 162 pets with monster Soul sources.
Where is the best place to farm pets as Elyos?
Verteron. Strong current multi-pet zones include Ellun River Midstream, Pilgrim's Ridge and Garden of the Illusion God.
Where is the best place to farm pets as Asmodian?
Altgard. Tranein Highland, Purifying Forest and Fafnite Deposit are useful current multi-pet farms.
How do you farm enemy-faction pets?
Use a level-45 Spacetime Rift to enter the opposite faction's home region and prioritize pets that do not have a source on your own side.
Does every pet appear on the world map?
No. Dozens of current pets have no normal monster source and come from shops, quests, chests or events instead.
Does every monster kill guarantee a Pet Soul?
The EU/NA client identifies valid Soul monsters but does not provide a reliable universal real-world drop percentage. Do not treat every valid source as a guaranteed Soul per kill.
How many Souls do I need to unlock a pet?
Five. A fully upgraded normal pet needs 105 Souls in total.
Why does one pet map show more locations than another?
Maps can use different client versions and counting methods. Some count unique pets, while others count every valid monster spawn point.
How We Verified Pet Locations
This guide uses the current EU/NA 2.0.7.0 client for pet and Soul-source coverage, with current Global spawn maps used to identify practical farming areas. Later-zone records are separated from current level-45 farming so future client data is not presented as immediately available progression.
