ARAM Mayhem Builds: Best Champion Items, Augments and Rerolls

ARAM Mayhem Builds: Best Champion Items, Augments and Rerolls

The best ARAM Mayhem builds combine items that strengthen a champion's abilities with Augments that can be activated consistently. Hecarim benefits from Ability Haste and sustained fighting, Teemo and Aurelion Sol use repeated magic damage, Caitlyn relies on critical strikes and attack range, while Tahm Kench becomes difficult to remove with Health-focused upgrades. This guide provides practical item paths, Augment priorities, alternatives and reroll decisions for eleven strong League of Legends ARAM: Mayhem champions. Riot's Patch 26.21 introduces Journey to Stardom, new Headliners and 35 Augments while removing 13 established choices. The item builds use Mayhem-specific Patch 26.20 match data, with confirmed 26.21 changes incorporated into the recommendations. New Augments are marked as provisional because their post-release performance has not yet been established.

Short answer: Build around your champion's main damage or utility pattern, then prioritize Augments that improve it immediately. Hecarim wants repeatable ability damage and durability, mages benefit from spell frequency, critical-strike carries need appropriate attack upgrades, and tanks can combine Heartsteel with Health-scaling Augments. Spend rerolls when the available effects do not support your build, not simply because a rare combination might appear.

Best ARAM Mayhem Builds by Champion

Mayhem's random Augment system means a fixed six-item build is rarely the best answer in every match. The table below gives each champion a practical three-item direction, established Augment priorities and a situation that should change the build. Item paths are starting recommendations drawn from commonly played Mayhem configurations, not guaranteed optimal sequences. Boots and later defensive or penetration purchases depend on the opposing team.

The established Augments listed here remain outside Riot's Patch 26.21 removal list. Ability Augments may also have champion-specific eligibility restrictions, so only select an interaction when the in-game card actually offers it for your champion.

SeraphineMalignance → Rylai's Crystal Scepter → Liandry's TormentEureka, Recursion, Infinite RecursionConsider defensive or healing-focused items if the team needs more protection than damage.

The arrows show a recommended item direction, not a requirement to buy all three items regardless of circumstances. For example, Tahm Kench should not automatically finish Warmog's Armor against overwhelming magic damage, and Caitlyn should not rush armor penetration when the enemy has not invested in Armor. Likewise, an Augment that radically changes your champion's combat pattern may justify changing the planned items.

For a comparison of which champions are strongest before their Augments are known, see the ARAM Mayhem Tier List: Champions & Augments. This build hub focuses on what to purchase and select after your champion is already chosen.

ARAM Mayhem Fighter Builds: Hecarim, Yasuo and Master Yi

Fighter builds depend on surviving long enough to use their primary damage pattern repeatedly. Hecarim wants frequent abilities and sustained movement through fights, Yasuo needs suitable critical-strike and attack interactions, and Master Yi relies on continued attacks and favorable opportunities to finish opponents. Their item paths should not be interchangeable simply because all three deal substantial physical damage.

Hecarim Build: Spear of Shojin, Manamune and Ability Haste

Core: Spear of Shojin → Manamune → Death's Dance. Hecarim uses Rampage repeatedly while moving through combat, making Ability Haste and sustained physical damage valuable. Spear of Shojin supports his repeated ability usage, Manamune provides an offensive route when Mana investment is part of the opening build, and Death's Dance offers protection against physical burst during extended engagements. If enemies primarily threaten magic damage, Spirit Visage becomes a more relevant defensive option than blindly completing another Armor item.

Augments: Ethereal Weapon is a strong option when Hecarim can apply its on-hit interactions through eligible abilities. Recursion gives predictable Ability Haste, and Mystic Punch rewards repeated attacks with cooldown interactions. Shrink Engine is also useful when takedown participation allows its stacking benefits to develop. These choices support Hecarim's normal fighting pattern rather than requiring an unusual transformation.

Reroll priority: Keep Recursion or another immediately effective ability-focused Augment instead of spending resources chasing one Prismatic. Reroll more aggressively when all three offers depend on repeated ranged attacks, critical strikes or mechanics Hecarim cannot use effectively. If a powerful Ability Augment modifies one of his frequently used spells, evaluate that exact interaction before committing to a reroll.

Hecarim also rewards movement control and well-timed engagement, skills that remain relevant in ordinary League of Legends coaching outside Mayhem. Additional Augment power does not compensate for approaching a fight without an escape route or enough allied follow-up.

Yasuo Build: Critical Strikes, On-Hit Damage and Survival

Core: Rite of Ruin → Blade of the Ruined King → Death's Dance. This is one commonly played Mayhem route that balances damage and survivability for a melee carry, not a mandatory sequence. Infinity Edge is an offensive alternative when critical-strike upgrades become the central part of the build, while additional defense is more appropriate when opponents can eliminate Yasuo before he reaches a target. His ability to use Last Breath effectively also depends on having suitable knock-up opportunities, whether from his own abilities or teammates.

Augments: Mystic Punch supports repeated ability access through attacks, Soul Siphon provides a critical-strike-oriented sustain direction, and Upgrade Infinity Edge becomes valuable when the item is already part of the intended build. Dual Wield is another attack-focused option, but it should be evaluated against Yasuo's actual attack-speed and critical-strike needs rather than selected only for its Prismatic rarity.

Reroll priority: Keep a strong attack or critical-strike Augment that immediately works with the current items. Do not hold resources indefinitely while waiting for a particular critical-strike effect. If the enemy team has several reliable ways to stop Yasuo, defensive Augments can provide more practical value than another damage multiplier. The old Critical Missile recommendation is obsolete because Riot removed that Augment in Patch 26.21.

Master Yi Build: Blade of the Ruined King and On-Hit Attacks

Core: The Collector → Blade of the Ruined King → Guinsoo's Rageblade. This is an observed damage-oriented Mayhem route that mixes finishing power with repeated attacks, but it is not the only viable build. Infinity Edge supports a more critical-strike-focused variation, while Death's Dance offers a defensive alternative when Yi is exposed to physical burst. Wit's End can be considered when the opposing damage profile makes Magic Resistance useful alongside continued attacking.

Augments: Mystic Punch and Dual Wield align with sustained attacks, while Ethereal Weapon can support applicable ability-and-on-hit interactions. Blunt Force and Deft offer more direct physical or attack-oriented value. Newly introduced Third Times The Harm may suit Yi's repeated attack pattern, but its Patch 26.21 performance is not yet established.

Reroll priority: Save rerolls when an offered Augment already improves repeated attacks, survival or the conditions needed to stay in combat. Spend them when the entire selection offers effects that do not interact with Yi's damage pattern. Avoid assuming his ultimate makes him immune to crowd control: against multiple reliable stuns or suppressions, staying alive is more important than maximizing theoretical attack damage.

ARAM Mayhem Mage Builds: Teemo, Aurelion Sol and Twisted Fate

Mages in Mayhem benefit from the frequency of grouped fights, but their preferred items differ. Teemo and Aurelion Sol excel when damage continues over time, while Twisted Fate combines reliable targeted crowd control with shorter spell-damage sequences. Building every mage around the same three offensive items can waste important parts of their kits.

Teemo Build: Malignance and Repeated Magic Damage

Core: Malignance → Liandry's Torment → Blackfire Torch. Malignance supports an ultimate-centered damage route, making it useful alongside Teemo's mushrooms. Liandry's and Blackfire Torch contribute to his repeated magic-damage pattern. Shadowflame or Rabadon's Deathcap can replace a later offensive slot when the fight requires more direct damage, while defensive purchases matter when enemy engage prevents Teemo from remaining safely behind his frontline.

Augments: Eureka, Infernal Conduit and Recursion are dependable directions because they reward Ability Power, frequent abilities or continued magic damage. Shrink Engine provides an alternative when Teemo can participate safely in takedowns. Ability-specific choices should be assessed according to the actual spell offered; an upgrade to an ability Teemo rarely uses successfully is not automatically better than a broad cooldown benefit.

Reroll priority: Prefer effects that strengthen mushrooms, poison or sustained magic damage. Keep a good cooldown Augment rather than chasing an unavailable dream combination. Teemo should not rebuild around Combusting Interest, which appears in older statistical recommendations but is removed from the 26.21 pool.

Aurelion Sol Build: Rylai's Control and Damage Over Time

Core: Blackfire Torch → Rylai's Crystal Scepter → Liandry's Torment. This combination supports Aurelion Sol's repeated area damage and makes it harder for enemies to move away from his abilities. Rod of Ages is a frequently observed alternative when the team can support a slower scaling approach and the extra durability matters. Archangel's Staff becomes relevant when substantial Mana investment is needed, but it should not be purchased automatically if the resource problem is already solved.

Augments: Infernal Conduit complements continuing spell damage, Eureka rewards Ability Power investment with additional haste, and Infinite Recursion supports frequent ability usage. Phenomenal Evil is another scaling option when its stacking condition can be met consistently. The best choice depends on whether Aurelion Sol needs stronger immediate fights or can afford additional long-term scaling.

Reroll priority: Accept a strong damage-over-time or cooldown Augment instead of chasing several stacking effects simultaneously. Aurelion Sol already has an important scaling component in his own kit, so selecting only slow upgrades can leave the team without enough pressure during earlier fights. Reroll offers that provide irrelevant attack statistics or force an incompatible short-range combat style.

Twisted Fate Build: Luden's Echo and Lich Bane

Core: Luden's Echo → Lich Bane → Shadowflame. Luden's provides a straightforward offensive spell route, while Lich Bane rewards weaving an attack into a spell sequence. Shadowflame strengthens the damage-focused setup. Rabadon's Deathcap can replace a later slot when raw AP is needed, and Rapid Firecannon is an alternative for a build prioritizing additional reach on Pick a Card rather than maximum immediate spell damage.

Augments: Echo Cast, Eureka and Recursion support his ability-based playstyle. Skilled Sniper and Magic Missile are alternatives when their actual triggering conditions fit the way the player uses Wild Cards and other abilities. Shrink Engine can provide useful movement and haste in games where Twisted Fate consistently participates in takedowns.

Reroll priority: Keep Augments that make Gold Card available more frequently or strengthen reliable spell damage. A selection that offers only defensive or attack-speed effects may still contain a useful option if the team needs it, but an AP-and-cooldown build usually gains more from compatible ability upgrades. Choose a particular reroll target based on the current items rather than rebuilding the entire champion around an effect that has not appeared.

ARAM Mayhem Caitlyn Build: Critical Strikes and Attack Range

Caitlyn is a useful example of why Mayhem item choices and Augment choices must be evaluated together. She can benefit from offensive effects that improve critical strikes, repeated attacks or attack range, but certain transformations create significant positioning costs. Patch 26.21 also reduces her Headshot scaling from Critical Strike Chance and Critical Strike Damage, so previous damage expectations should not be treated as exact new-patch results. A high-damage Augment is only valuable if Caitlyn can remain in a position where she can safely attack.

Caitlyn Items, Augment Priorities and Rerolls

Core: The Collector → Infinity Edge → Lord Dominik's Regards. This route combines physical damage and critical strikes with an answer to armored opponents. Rapid Firecannon is more attractive when the team benefits from additional attack reach, while Mortal Reminder can replace an armor-penetration slot when Grievous Wounds are necessary. Berserker's Greaves are a common offensive boot option, but defensive footwear can be justified against particularly dangerous opponents.

Augments: Scopier Weapons supports a long-range attack style, Upgrade Infinity Edge improves a critical-strike-oriented build, and Soul Siphon offers another compatible critical-strike benefit. Dual Wield is an attack-focused Prismatic alternative. Draw Your Sword has historically produced strong results on suitable ranged champions, but it converts them into melee attackers. That changes Caitlyn's fundamental positioning requirement and should only be considered when the player is intentionally building around the transformation.

Reroll priority: Keep strong critical-strike, attack-range or attack-speed offers when they suit the planned items. A new Silver Augment, Hands Off The Talent, is promising because it rewards attacks fired from maximum range, but it has not yet established a reliable 26.21 performance record. Do not plan around the removed Fan the Hammer or Critical Missile effects. If opponents can repeatedly reach Caitlyn, preserving distance or gaining protection can be more useful than another damage Augment.

The attack spacing and champion familiarity required here also matter in ordinary League of Legends and its Champion Mastery progression. Mayhem's additional attack modifiers change a build's output, but they do not remove the need to track threatening enemy abilities.

ARAM Mayhem Tahm Kench Build: Heartsteel and Health Scaling

Tahm Kench is one of the clearest examples of an Augment-and-item build that follows a single objective: accumulate durability while remaining useful during extended fights. Health-focused items provide a natural foundation, but the build still needs enough Armor or Magic Resistance to survive the enemy team's actual damage. Stacking Health alone is not always sufficient.

Tahm Kench Items, Quest Augments and Reroll Decisions

Core: Heartsteel → Warmog's Armor → Unending Despair. Heartsteel provides the foundation for Health stacking, Warmog's supports additional durability and recovery, and Unending Despair contributes to extended frontline combat. Spirit Visage becomes useful when Magic Resistance and healing interactions are relevant, while Thornmail addresses particular physical attackers and healing threats. The enemy composition should determine the later slots.

Augments: Quest: Steel Your Heart is an excellent fit when Tahm Kench can buy Heartsteel and meet the Augment's stacking requirement of more than 300 bonus Health from Colossal Consumption. Completing it increases the Health gained from that Heartsteel effect by 200%. Tank Engine offers additional maximum Health through takedown participation, while Goliath provides another durability-oriented direction. Heavy Hitter and Upgrade Immolate can be useful when their effects complement the current frontline build. New options such as Lich Brain and Mosh Monster are interesting for Health-focused builds, but their strength under 26.21 remains provisional.

Reroll priority: If Quest: Steel Your Heart appears while Heartsteel is already planned, keep it unless an urgent defensive weakness makes another choice clearly better. After committing to a Health-scaling direction, prioritize Augments that improve survival or convert that Health into useful combat effects. Reroll irrelevant critical-strike or ranged-attack effects. Older Tahm Kench recommendations featuring Dropkick must be discarded because that Augment is removed in 26.21.

Heartsteel-based strategies have an important limitation: they need repeated contact with enemy champions to accumulate value. Against opponents who can prevent Tahm Kench from approaching, a reliable immediate defensive Augment may be preferable to another slow scaling effect. The best tank build is the one that allows the team to survive and control actual fights, not the one that reaches the largest Health total on paper.

Morgana and Lillia Builds: Damage Over Time and Fight Control

Morgana and Lillia both benefit from sustained magic-damage items, but their responsibilities differ. Morgana creates control through Dark Binding, Tormented Shadow and Black Shield, while Lillia needs to move close enough to apply repeated damage and make use of Lilting Lullaby. Morgana's largest weakness is often vulnerability while committing to her ultimate; Lillia must balance combat range with enough durability to continue moving through fights.

Morgana Build: Blackfire Torch, Liandry's and Rylai's

Core: Blackfire Torch → Liandry's Torment → Rylai's Crystal Scepter. This is a consistent damage-over-time route that complements repeated Tormented Shadow applications. Rylai's adds a useful slowing effect to compatible damage. Zhonya's Hourglass is an important alternative when Morgana must survive while using Soul Shackles, and it can take priority over a third offensive item when the enemy can eliminate her during the engagement.

Augments: Infernal Conduit and Eureka strengthen repeated magic damage and ability access, while Recursion offers reliable flat Ability Haste. Skilled Sniper and Magic Missile are alternatives when their triggers align with her current ability usage. The defensive value of an eligible Ability Augment can also be substantial when it changes the frequency or impact of her control spells.

Reroll priority: Keep meaningful spell-frequency or damage-over-time effects, especially when the build already contains Blackfire Torch and Liandry's. Reroll attack-speed and basic-attack-focused offers unless a particular eligible interaction justifies them. Avoid spending every reroll chasing damage if Morgana cannot survive long enough to use her ultimate.

Lillia Build: Burn Damage and Sustained Fighting

Core: Blackfire Torch → Liandry's Torment → Riftmaker. The first two items strengthen Lillia's repeated magic damage, while Riftmaker supports extended fighting. Rylai's Crystal Scepter is a strong alternative when additional slowing and control are more useful than the selected third-item damage profile. Rabadon's Deathcap is more attractive when Lillia is already surviving comfortably and needs a greater offensive power spike.

Augments: Infernal Conduit, Eureka and Infinite Recursion support repeated spell damage and access. Shrink Engine offers an alternative focused on movement and haste, while Spin to Win can be attractive when its effect fits Lillia's use of her abilities in close combat. Her ability to keep moving around enemies matters as much as the raw damage value listed on the Augment card.

Reroll priority: Prioritize sustained magic damage, movement and survivability. An Augment that improves ability frequency is usually useful immediately, whereas a high-risk offensive transformation may force Lillia into unnecessary danger. When the team already has enough damage, a defensive option that lets her complete additional spell rotations can be more valuable than another conditional damage multiplier.

Seraphine ARAM Mayhem Build: Ability Haste and Team Utility

Seraphine combines repeated spell damage, crowd control and teamwide utility. Her build should reflect whether the team needs another magic-damage dealer or more protection during fights. Offensive AP items can be effective, but a composition that already has several strong carries may benefit more from improving her ability to shield, heal and control enemies.

Seraphine Items, Augments and Alternative Paths

Core damage route: Malignance → Rylai's Crystal Scepter → Liandry's Torment. Blackfire Torch is another practical opening purchase for repeated magic damage. A utility-oriented build can instead prioritize appropriate healing and shielding equipment, such as Moonstone Renewer or Redemption, when the team needs more protection than additional damage. Those are situational alternatives rather than an instruction to mix every offensive and defensive item into one inventory.

Augments: Eureka, Recursion and Infinite Recursion improve access to Seraphine's spells, making them natural priorities. Shrink Engine is useful when she participates safely in takedowns. The new Patch 26.21 Prismatic Augment Group Hug can expand an eligible heal or shield to nearby allies, while the Gold Augment Enchanting Butterflies rewards healing and shielding allies with additional offensive pressure. These effects offer a promising utility direction, but their eligibility and actual effectiveness must be checked in the live selection.

Reroll priority: Choose reliable Ability Haste or compatible ally-protection effects over unrelated physical-damage upgrades. Do not force a pure damage route if your team repeatedly loses fights because carries cannot survive. Likewise, an aggressive AP build is reasonable when allied protection is already sufficient and Seraphine can contribute safely from the backline.

ARAM Mayhem Reroll Priorities: What to Keep and When to Reroll

Rerolls are most valuable when all offered Augments have weak interactions with your champion or when a specific missing effect would substantially improve an existing build. They are less valuable when at least one option already provides meaningful damage, durability, control or utility. Because offering pools and Ability Augment restrictions affect what can appear, rerolling repeatedly does not guarantee access to one exact card.

Practical reroll decisions during an ARAM Mayhem match
Selection SituationKeep the Augment When...Consider a Reroll When...
Initial SelectionIt directly supports your champion's primary damage, cooldown or survival pattern. All choices are incompatible or require a build your champion cannot realistically use.
Early Follow-UpIt complements the first Augment or works independently with your current items. The options provide little immediate value and your build lacks a useful direction.
Middle of the MatchIt improves an established item-and-Augment interaction or solves a current weakness.Every offer conflicts with the items and Augments already selected.
Late SelectionIt changes the next teamfight through immediate damage, protection or reliable control. The alternatives are irrelevant and the reroll can still be used before the next important fight.
Quest Augment OfferedYou already want its required item and can reasonably complete the objective. The quest demands a build change or progression unlikely to finish in time.

The most common mistake is rerolling a strong standalone Augment because it is not the theoretical best-in-slot choice. Hecarim does not need to reject Recursion while waiting for Mystic Punch, and Aurelion Sol does not need a specific Prismatic to benefit from strong repeated spell damage. A completed, functional build is more reliable than a collection of partial synergies waiting for an unlikely final card.

Reroll Priorities by Champion Type

Each archetype has a different threshold for accepting an offered Augment. The most useful decision is based on how often the effect can actually trigger:

  • Ability-focused fighters: Keep relevant Ability Haste, ability-and-attack interactions and defensive effects that support repeated combat.
  • Damage-over-time mages: Keep repeatable spell damage, compatible Ability Haste and effects that improve control over grouped enemies.
  • Critical-strike carries: Keep attack, critical-strike and range effects, provided the champion can use them without sacrificing necessary positioning.
  • Health-stacking tanks: Keep suitable Health, resistance and Heartsteel-related effects. Reject offensive conversions that remove defenses needed to survive.
  • Enchanters: Keep reliable healing, shielding, Ability Haste and allied utility. Evaluate offensive alternatives only when they fit the team's needs.

Some Augments appear extremely powerful only after a specific item is purchased. Upgrade Infinity Edge is more useful when Infinity Edge is already a realistic part of the carry's build. Quest: Steel Your Heart requires a genuine Heartsteel plan. An augment whose value depends on an item you do not intend to buy should not be rated the same way as an immediately functional upgrade.

How Patch 26.21 Changes ARAM Mayhem Builds

Journey to Stardom introduces Headliners, 35 new Augments and a rotation that removes 13 older effects. These changes directly affect build planning because an item-and-Augment combination from Patch 26.20 may no longer be available. Headliners also alter the rules for an entire match rather than acting as ordinary Augments selected through the usual card choices.

New Augments Worth Considering for Specific Builds

The following Patch 26.21 additions have clear potential applications based on their official descriptions. These are preliminary recommendations rather than measured post-patch rankings:

  • Group Hug: Promising for Seraphine and other eligible enchanters when an important heal or shield can also protect nearby allies.
  • Enchanting Butterflies: Rewards healing and shielding allies, giving support-oriented builds another way to contribute offensively.
  • Hands Off The Talent: Potentially useful for long-range carries such as Caitlyn when they can consistently attack from maximum range.
  • Third Times The Harm: Fits attack-oriented champions such as Master Yi when they can reliably land repeated attacks on enemy champions.
  • Mosh Monster: Provides a Health and slowing-area direction for suitable frontline champions that frequently participate in ultimate-centered fights.
  • Lich Brain: Converts bonus Health into Ability Power, creating a possible hybrid direction for appropriate Health-building AP champions.
  • Flow of Spirit: Rewards repeated use of a designated ability with Attack Speed, provided the ability is eligible and the champion benefits from attacking.
  • Weapon Of Destiny: Strengthens the first Legendary item through takedowns, making that initial completed item a more important build commitment.

These effects introduce possibilities that older statistical build lists cannot measure yet. In particular, Weapon Of Destiny changes the cost of choosing the wrong first Legendary item, while Group Hug and Enchanting Butterflies may justify more supportive item paths on suitable champions. Any champion-specific interaction must be checked against the actual eligible ability and the current in-game description.

Headliners and Their Effect on Reroll Decisions

Headliners can change which resources and choices are available during the match. Some influence Augments directly, while others modify Gold income, the strength of abilities or the environment:

  • Command Line: Allows one Augment to be rerolled into a higher tier during each selection. This changes the value of upgrading an underwhelming offer.
  • K/DA: Collect four K/DA Cards for an additional Augment, potentially expanding the total number of effects in your build.
  • HEARTSTEEL: Augments may appear with special modifiers that increase their power. Evaluate the modified effect rather than relying on its ordinary ranking.
  • True Damage: Takedowns and tower destruction may provide Anvils, opening additional opportunities to improve combat statistics.
  • Pentakill: Strengthens a champion ability at the start and again at level 18, making the selected ability particularly important to the build.

These are match-specific mechanics, not permanent bonuses to every champion. A build that performs well during a HEARTSTEEL Headliner match should not automatically be treated as equally strong without its special modifiers. Likewise, K/DA's extra Augment reward only becomes relevant when the collection requirement is completed.

Journey to Stardom missions and Superstar Ranks are separate from ordinary account-wide League of Legends Challenges. Challenge progression depends on each objective's eligible game modes, so a Mayhem mission or reward should not automatically be treated as progress toward an unrelated Challenge.

Removed Augments That Make Older Builds Obsolete

Patch 26.21 removes several popular effects. The most important names for the builds in this guide are Critical Missile, Fan the Hammer, Combusting Interest and Dropkick. Their removal affects critical-strike carries, ranged attack builds, damage-over-time mages and tanks that previously used those interactions.

Riot's complete removal list also includes Crit 'n Cast, Dimension Shift, DropBear, Hide on Bush, High Roller, Our Healing, Poro Stampede, Spiritual Purification and Ult Bot. Older guides may still show them because their statistics were recorded before the rotation. Do not spend rerolls pursuing an Augment that has been removed from the current published pool.

When to Change Your ARAM Mayhem Item Build

Items should respond to the fight that is actually happening. Augments can create powerful new offensive combinations, but they cannot eliminate every weakness in a champion's kit. If a damage dealer dies before contributing or a frontline champion cannot survive long enough to engage, the next item should address that problem rather than mechanically following a predefined sequence.

  • Enemies stack Armor: Physical carries should consider Lord Dominik's Regards or another appropriate armor-penetration purchase instead of adding only raw attack damage.
  • Enemies stack Magic Resistance: Mages may need Void Staff or another suitable Magic Penetration option before investing in more Ability Power.
  • Enemies have substantial healing: Use an appropriate Grievous Wounds item, such as Mortal Reminder or Morellonomicon, when the champion can apply it effectively.
  • Assassins repeatedly reach the backline: A defensive purchase, better positioning or a protective Augment may have greater value than another offensive multiplier.
  • Your team lacks a frontline: Durable champions should preserve enough resistance and survival utility to create space instead of converting every defensive stat into damage.
  • Your Augments favor a different damage pattern: Adjust later item purchases to exploit compatible effects without sacrificing the champion's essential defenses or resources.

A common example is Caitlyn choosing between additional critical-strike damage and more attack range. Against opponents who struggle to reach her, an offensive purchase can be effective. Against repeated engage, extending her reach or improving survival may allow her to deliver more damage across the complete fight. The same principle applies to Hecarim, who can benefit more from Magic Resistance than another offensive item when enemy casters are the reason his engagements fail.

How These ARAM Mayhem Builds Were Selected

The champion item paths are based on available ARAM Mayhem-specific build data for Patch 26.20, including frequently observed completed-item combinations. Augment recommendations use the corresponding champion-specific offers and performance classifications, filtered against Riot's confirmed Patch 26.21 removals. This distinction matters because an older database can correctly report what players used in 26.20 while still containing effects that cannot be selected after the update.

The main statistical reference is the ARAMMayhem Champion Builds database, which provides champion pages with items, skill priorities and Augment results. The published data reviewed for this guide was associated with Patch 26.20. Riot's Patch 26.21 Notes establish the new Augments, Headliners and removals. These sources serve different purposes: historical match data helps identify established builds, while official notes determine the current rules and content.

Item sequence popularity does not prove an item causes victories, and an Augment ranking does not guarantee that the effect will be offered to a particular champion. The recommendations therefore emphasize mechanical compatibility, practical opportunity cost, available evidence and the conditions that justify changing the build. New 26.21 interactions remain provisional until enough matches have been recorded under the updated rules.

ARAM Mayhem Builds FAQ

These answers cover the most common decisions about item order, Augment selection and rerolls.

Should I always copy the highest-win-rate ARAM Mayhem build? No. A recorded build represents matches in which those items were purchased, not proof that the same sequence is best against every team. Use its core damage pattern as a starting point and adjust defensive, penetration or utility items according to the opponents and your Augments.

When should I reroll an Augment? Reroll when the offered effects have little useful interaction with your champion or current items. Keep an immediately valuable choice even if a stronger theoretical combination exists. Rerolls cannot guarantee that a particular eligible Augment will appear.

Do Ability Augments work on every champion? No. They are restricted to eligible abilities. Riot has adjusted the system to reduce incompatible offers, so the current in-game card is the appropriate reference for whether a specific interaction can be selected.

Are Patch 26.20 ARAM Mayhem builds still usable in 26.21? Many established item paths remain useful starting points, but any strategy relying on removed Augments must change. The new Headliners and Ability or Quest Augments may also justify different priorities. Updated match data is needed to establish which new combinations perform best.

Building Effectively in ARAM Mayhem

The strongest Mayhem build is a combination of compatible items, reliable Augment triggers and enough survivability to execute the champion's role. Use established item paths as a foundation, adapt purchases to enemy threats and prioritize Augments that strengthen the way your champion already fights. With Patch 26.21 changing the available pool and introducing Headliners, actual eligibility and current mechanics should always take precedence over older combinations or untested theoretical rankings.
