Marvel Rivals Team-Ups changed fundamentally in Season 9. The old anchor-bonus model is no longer a safe reference: every hero now has two selectable Team-Up loadouts, each with a Base Effect that works on its own and an Enhanced Effect that requires the listed partner. This Marvel Rivals Team-Ups guide is a master reference for the live system, covering every active Team-Up ability, both effects, the required partner, and the roles on each side of the pairing.
The practical rule is simple: choose the Team-Up for what its Base Effect gives your hero first, then treat the partner as an upgrade condition rather than a requirement to make the loadout function. That distinction matters in solo queue, where a partner can swap heroes at any time. It also makes this reference useful beyond a single patch because the structure of the system can be checked independently from individual balance numbers.
How Marvel Rivals Team-Up Abilities Work After the Season 9 Rework
Season 9 replaced the previous Team-Up framework with a ground-up system rework. The official Season 9 patch notes introduced the new model, while the live hero interface now presents two Team-Up choices for each hero. You equip one choice at a time. If your composition changes, return to the hero-selection or spawn interface and review the Team-Up choice instead of assuming the loadout you started with is still the best one.
- Base Effect: the part of the selected Team-Up that belongs to your hero. It does not need the listed partner to function.
- Enhanced Effect: the extra interaction, stronger version, added charge, passive bonus, or altered behavior that becomes available when the named partner is on your team.
- Partner: the hero who enables the Enhanced Effect. A partner is not automatically the hero receiving the ability.
- Activation: some Team-Ups add an active ability, some modify an existing skill, and some are passive. A few Enhanced Effects require both players to confirm a shared interaction, such as Gamma Fastball, Stars Aligned, or Primal Punishment.
- Role pairing: Team-Ups can connect heroes within the same role or across Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist. Deadpool is the special case because his role is flexible.
Do not memorize a universal keyboard button for Team-Up abilities. The live UI shows the correct input for the selected hero and platform, and controls can be remapped. What matters for composition planning is whether the effect is passive, replaces a normal ability, creates a new active button, or needs a mutual interaction. Players who want to practice that decision-making around specific heroes and compositions can use Marvel Rivals coaching alongside their own match review rather than treating a Team-Up name as an automatic reason to force a draft.
How to Choose Between Two Marvel Rivals Team-Up Loadouts
Because every hero has two choices, the practical question is not which Team-Up is best in a vacuum. The better choice is the one whose Base Effect fits the match and whose Enhanced partner has a realistic place in the draft. This keeps the system useful even when teammates swap heroes and prevents a composition from becoming dependent on a bonus that disappears the moment one player changes roles.
- Start with Base Effect value. Compare what each option gives your hero with no partner present. Mobility, emergency defense, self-healing, crowd control, or a safer ranged tool can be more reliable than a higher-damage Enhanced combo.
- Check the actual partner, not just the Team-Up name. If that hero is already in the composition, the Enhanced Effect is effectively free value. If adding the partner would break role balance, do not force it.
- Identify the activation type. Passive enhancements are easy to maintain. New active abilities demand cooldown management. Mutual interactions require coordination and can fail if the other player is busy, out of range, or unwilling to confirm.
- Re-evaluate after swaps. A Team-Up selected at the start of a round may lose its Enhanced Effect after a teammate changes hero. Use the spawn interface to reconsider the other loadout.
- Separate balance changes from system rules. Damage, healing, cooldowns, and control durations can move from patch to patch, but Base versus Enhanced and partner identity are the stable parts to check first.
When learning several heroes after the rework, rotate through both loadouts in real matches instead of judging them only from text. That makes it easier to understand range, timing, and whether a nominally useful Enhanced Effect fits your preferred role. Players already working through multiple hero goals can use Marvel Rivals proficiency progression as a separate progression option; it does not replace the need to learn the current Team-Up activation rules.

All Marvel Rivals Team-Ups by Hero and Role
As of September 5, 2026, the live Season 9.5 roster contains 53 heroes and 106 selectable Team-Up abilities. The official Team-Up reference separates Base Effect from Enhanced Effect. Rather than putting all 106 choices into one oversized matrix, this guide groups heroes by role and gives every hero a separate block. Read the two options under your hero, compare their Base Effects first, and then check whether the listed partner is already part of a sensible composition.
Marvel Rivals Vanguard Team-Ups
Vanguards use Team-Ups to alter frontline pressure, survivability, mobility, control, and the way core defensive abilities work. The partner can improve the selected option, but the Base Effect remains the first thing to judge when you are deciding between a hero’s two loadouts.

The most important reading habit is to compare the two choices for the hero you intend to play, not just search for a favorite partner. A strong Base Effect can be the safer solo-queue choice because it remains available through teammate swaps, while a more specialized option can become better when the Enhanced partner is already locked and the composition actually supports the interaction.
How to Read Team-Up Partners and Role Combinations
Team-Up partners do not follow a fixed role formula. Vanguard-to-Vanguard links such as Hulk with Captain America can add frontline pressure, Duelist-to-Duelist links such as Blade with Moon Knight can add offensive tools, Strategist-to-Strategist links such as Luna Snow with Adam Warlock can reinforce sustain, and cross-role pairings can add damage, control, mobility, or protection where a hero normally lacks it. The matrix therefore lists both roles instead of pretending that one pairing type is universally stronger.
For draft decisions, first ask whether the Base Effect solves a problem your hero has in the current match. Then check whether the Enhanced partner is already part of a sensible six-hero composition. If the only reason to add the partner is to activate one Enhanced Effect while weakening healing, frontline coverage, range, or objective control, the Team-Up is usually not worth forcing. In coordinated competitive play, the same principle applies: build the composition first, then use Team-Ups to improve it. Players focused on ladder progression can pair this reference with a planned Marvel Rivals rank progression route rather than changing heroes only to chase one synergy.
Mutual-interaction Team-Ups deserve extra attention because the partner merely being present is not the entire activation sequence. Gamma Fastball needs Hulk and Wolverine to confirm the throw; Stars Aligned adds a shared rally for Captain America and Winter Soldier; Primal Punishment lets The Punisher mount Devil Dinosaur after confirmation. If an Enhanced Effect does not seem to fire automatically, check whether the description calls for a second player's action before assuming it is bugged.
Season 9 to Season 9.5 Team-Up Changes
Season 9 established the rebuilt system; Season 9.5 did more than add another hero. The Hood entered the roster with two personal Team-Up choices, while several existing Team-Ups received numerical or mechanical tuning. The official Season 9.5 balance post is the correct source for those changes, so older Season 9 values should not be carried into the current matrix.
- Season 9.5 roster: The Hood joined as a Vanguard. Two new selectable Team-Ups for The Hood: Chaos Collision with Scarlet Witch and New Moon's Shadow with Moon Knight. Hood-linked Enhanced Effects on Jubilee, Cloak & Dagger, and Magik also became usable with the partner actually available.
- Surf & Turf: Devil Dinosaur and Jeff the Land Shark Maximum base duration increased from 4s to 5s; ally healing from the water stream increased from 40 to 60.
- Gamma Maelstrom: Doctor Strange and Hulk Cooldown reduced from 8s to 6s.
- Metallic Chaos: Magneto and Scarlet Witch Enhanced Chaos Greatsword projectiles gained a minor Launch Up effect.
- Damisa-Yao: Black Panther and Storm Base area damage reduced from 40 to 30 and cooldown increased from 12s to 15s.
- Cyclops / Kinetic Kin: Ricochet Force cooldown reduction per Optic Blast hit increased from 0.15s to 0.25s as a Cyclops base adjustment; with Gambit selected for Kinetic Kin, the Enhanced Concussive Beam attack-frequency bonus increased from 10% to 15%.
- Prehistoric Trap: Elsa Bloodstone and Devil Dinosaur Enhanced Smoky Snare health reduced from 100 to 50 and its control duration reduced from 1.5s to 1.2s.
- Deep Wrath: Hela and Namor Enhanced Undead Monstro single-hit damage reduced from 15 to 10.
- Luminous Moon: Moon Knight and Cloak & Dagger Cooldown reduced from 15s to 12s. Base dash duration and distance increased, while the Enhanced version added a short healing-over-time effect after leaving Phased state.
- Telekinetic Beatdown: Phoenix and Rogue Team-Up damage increased from 45 to 55.
- Sorcerers Supreme: Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange Base became an 8s duration on an 8s cooldown; Enhanced became a toggle that keeps Mystic Burst replacing Chthonian Burst until switched off.
- Favorable Odds: Gambit and Magneto Launch Up frequency from the spinning magnetic-card field changed from 0.5s to 1s.
The Hood is especially important to the 9 to 9.5 transition. Jubilee's Hellfire Sparks, Cloak & Dagger's Oblivion Shroud, and Magik's Void Pentagram could already reference The Hood as their Enhanced partner before he became playable; his Season 9.5 release made those Enhanced states realistically activatable in a live composition. For his own mechanics, the separate Marvel Rivals The Hood guide covers the rest of his kit beyond the two Team-Up rows shown here.
Removed and Legacy Team-Ups After the Season 9 Rework
The Season 9 rework means old Team-Up tables cannot be updated by simply changing a few numbers. Season 8.5 used the previous anchor and secondary-hero structure, including anchor bonuses that are no longer the basis of the live system. Seventeen old Team-Up names returned in the rebuilt catalog, but returning names do not guarantee that the old activation rules, bonuses, or effects still apply. The ExpCarry Season 9 overview provides the wider patch context; this page should be used for the current hero-by-hero reference.
Nine Season 8.5 Team-Up names are absent from the active 106-entry catalog:
- Arcane Order
- Blessing of the Kumiho
- Chilling Assault
- Fastball Special as a standalone Team-Up name
- First Steps
- Primal Flame
- Psionic Mayhem
- Sword of Duality
- Symbiote Shenanigans
That does not mean every underlying idea vanished. Fastball Special, for example, survives as the Enhanced interaction inside Hulk's Gamma Fastball rather than as the old standalone Team-Up entry. The safe rule for returning players is to ignore legacy anchor bonuses and search the current hero-by-hero list by hero, Team-Up name, or partner before building a composition around a remembered Season 8.5 interaction.
FAQ
The questions below address the points most likely to cause confusion when moving from the old Team-Up system to the Season 9 model.
Does a Team-Up partner have to be on my team for the Base Effect?
No. The selected Base Effect belongs to the hero and works without the listed partner. The partner is required for the Enhanced Effect.
Can I use both Team-Up abilities for one hero at the same time?
No. Each hero has two selectable Team-Up loadouts, but only one is equipped at a time. Recheck the selection when you return to spawn if the team composition changes.
How many active Marvel Rivals Team-Ups are in Season 9.5?
There are 106 selectable Team-Up abilities across 53 heroes, with two choices per hero. Future hero releases or system updates can change that total.
Are old Team-Up Anchor bonuses still part of the current system?
No. Season 9 rebuilt the Team-Up system and removed the old anchor-bonus framework. Do not use old Season 8.5 stat bonuses as current values.
Why is my Enhanced Effect not activating even though the partner is present?
First confirm that you selected the correct Team-Up loadout. Then check whether the Enhanced Effect is passive, changes an existing ability, or requires a mutual interaction. Some pairings need an explicit confirmation from both players.
Did Season 9.5 replace all Season 9 Team-Ups again?
No. Season 9.5 kept the rebuilt framework, added The Hood's two selectable Team-Ups, enabled his partner-dependent Enhanced interactions in live drafts, and adjusted several existing Team-Ups rather than replacing the system again.
Conclusion
The current Marvel Rivals Team-Up system should be read as two layers: a Base Effect you select for your own hero and an Enhanced Effect that comes online when the named partner is present. The hero-by-hero sections above keep those layers separate without turning the guide into a 106-row spreadsheet, while also avoiding the main mistake left by pre-Season 9 guides: treating old anchor bonuses or old Team-Up tables as current rules.
When choosing a loadout, compare the two Base Effects first, then check whether the Enhanced partner belongs in the composition you already want to run. Revisit the selection after teammate swaps, pay attention to mutual-interaction abilities, and use the current hero sections rather than legacy names when a patch changes values. That approach keeps Team-Ups useful as a composition tool instead of turning them into a reason to force an otherwise weak draft.
