Need Help Progressing in Path of Exile 2?

The fastest route through all eight Runes of Aldur challenges is to begin four of them during the campaign, continue three of them alongside normal Atlas progression, and reserve only the Pinnacle Boss requirement for a dedicated endgame push. Kill every Hunter target as its area opens, complete increasingly long Remnant recipes, identify every Unique item, and claim Ascendancy Points without postponing them. This removes most of the cleanup before level 90.

Do not treat the challenge list as eight separate grinds. The Master and Cartographer progress while farming Remnants, Verisium ingredients, Uniques, trial entries, and access to the three Vanquisher bosses. One organised character can therefore complete nearly the entire set through a single campaign-to-endgame route and unlock the full Knight of Aldur Armour Set at eight challenges.

The CartographerFully allocate all 311 points on the main Atlas Passive TreeLate endgame
The VanquisherDefeat Vessel of Kulemak at full strength, The Bodach, and TangmazuLate endgame

Challenge progress is account-wide within the Runes of Aldur league rather than restricted to one character. Press H to open the Challenges screen and check individual counters before spending an entry item or crafting material. The official Runes of Aldur rewards announcement confirms eight challenges and the permanent cosmetic milestones.

Completed challengesReward
1First Runes of Aldur Totem decoration segment
2Knight of Aldur Boots and additional Totem progress
4Knight of Aldur Gloves and additional Totem progress
6Knight of Aldur Body Armour and additional Totem progress
8Knight of Aldur Helmet, complete Armour Set, and completed Totem

Every completed challenge adds to the Totem decoration, while the armour pieces arrive at two-challenge intervals. Any challenges can fill a milestone; the game does not require a fixed order. The efficient order is based on shared progression rather than reward eligibility.

Efficient Route From Campaign to Eight Challenges

StagePrimary objectivesChallenges progressing together
Campaign Acts and InterludesKill all six Hunter bosses, complete 2-5 Rune recipes, identify every Unique, and claim available Ascendancy PointsHunter, Runeseeker, Reliquarian, Ascendant
Early AtlasFind 6 and 7+ Rune Remnants, finish 50 Unique identifications, collect Verisium ingredients, and enter the Fortress routeRuneseeker, Reliquarian, Artisan, Master, Cartographer
Established AtlasEarn the final Ascendancy Points, approach level 90, allocate every Atlas point immediately, and progress Abyss, Ritual, and DeliriumAscendant, Master, Cartographer, Vanquisher
Late endgameFinish missing Artisan materials, complete the Atlas Tree, and defeat all three required Pinnacle BossesArtisan, Cartographer, Vanquisher

The first realistic reward target is two challenges. The Hunter is completed entirely during the campaign, while The Runeseeker can finish as soon as a safe 7+ Rune Remnant becomes available. If the larger Remnant does not appear early, The Reliquarian can become the second completion without changing the route.

Four challenges usually come from The Hunter, The Runeseeker, The Reliquarian, and The Ascendant. The Master normally becomes the fifth through Atlas farming. The Artisan and Cartographer depend more heavily on material access and endgame progression, while The Vanquisher should be attempted only after the character can reliably clear the three relevant systems.

Players who want to remove the campaign portion from the route can review the specific PoE 2 Campaign service. Challenge counters should still be checked afterward because optional bosses, Remnant inscription lengths, and identified Uniques require their individual conditions to be completed.

The Runeseeker and The Hunter

The Runeseeker requires successful inscriptions of six different lengths: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 or more Runes. The recipe must be completed at a Runic Remnant; merely finding a Remnant with enough slots does not finish the objective. Longer recipes create more enemy waves and add further runic modifiers, so the final requirement should be attempted on a recipe the build can survive rather than the first seven-slot option seen.

  1. Complete 2 and 3 Rune recipes as soon as Farrow introduces Remnants.
  2. Use 4 and 5 Rune recipes during later campaign progression when damage and recovery improve.
  3. Record the 6 Rune completion instead of assuming a 7 Rune recipe automatically fills every shorter requirement.
  4. Attempt 7 or more Runes in a cleared area with space to move and no unrelated monsters nearby.
  5. Open the Challenges screen after the reward is claimed to confirm the length registered.

The Hunter requires these six campaign bosses:

BossAreaCampaign stage
The CrowbellThe Hunting GroundsAct 1
Kabala, Constrictor QueenKethAct 2
Blackjaw, the RemnantJiquani's MachinariumAct 3
Great White OneWhakapanu IslandAct 4
Akthi, the Final StingThe Khari CrossingKhari Interlude
Anundr, the SandwormThe Khari CrossingKhari Interlude

Akthi and Anundr belong to the same encounter, so one completed fight supplies the final two entries. Kill every target during natural progression. Returning later means reopening large campaign areas for bosses that also grant useful permanent rewards or progression benefits.

The Ascendant, The Master and The Reliquarian

The Ascendant tracks four trial milestones leading to all eight Ascendancy Points. Complete First Trial, Second Trial, Third Trial, and Final Trial with eligible Trial of the Sekhemas or Trial of Chaos entries. The character may mix the two systems; it does not have to use one trial type for every pair of points.

Do not postpone the first six points. They strengthen the build for Remnants, Atlas maps, and later trials. Save suitable entry items and choose the final route according to the build: Sekhemas tests movement, Honour preservation, and boss consistency, while Chaos tests survival against a growing set of selected modifiers. The detailed PoE 2 Ascendancy Trials guide explains the eligible tiers and routes for all eight points.

The Master requires level 90. There is no shortcut beyond earning experience efficiently and avoiding deaths. Treat it as the result of the Cartographer and Vanquisher preparation rather than an isolated grind.

  • Run the highest Waystone Tier the build clears quickly and safely.
  • Avoid modifiers that create a serious death risk merely for additional item quantity.
  • Stop attempting unfamiliar Pinnacle encounters when close to the next level.
  • Use safer mapping to finish an experience bar, then return to progression bosses.
  • Improve defences and recovery if repeated deaths erase an entire session of progress.

The Reliquarian requires identifying 50 Unique items, not collecting 50 Uniques that are already identified. Keep Scrolls of Wisdom available and identify every eligible drop before selling, destroying, or storing it. In trade leagues, inexpensive unidentified Uniques can accelerate the final counter, but verify that they are unidentified before purchasing. Do not assume Unique rewards supplied already identified by another mechanic will count.

Start Reliquarian tracking in Act 1. Waiting until endgame turns a passive league-long objective into unnecessary farming. The items do not need to suit the active class, and their market value does not affect challenge credit.

The Artisan: All 14 Verisium Ingredients

The Artisan requires using every listed ingredient to craft an item. Owning, trading, or placing the material in the Verisium Anvil does not count unless the craft completes. Use disposable eligible items for cheap ingredients, but inspect valuable Alloys and Crests before consuming them because some can justify a real crafting project.

IngredientEfficient completion rule
VerisiumRuneforge an eligible inexpensive armour item after checking the preview
Runic AlloyUse on an eligible Rare that can lose a random modifier
Adaptive AlloyChoose a spare Rare compatible with the stated crafted modifier
Protective AlloyUse a defensive project or a disposable eligible Rare
Expansive AlloyConfirm the target can accept the craft before consuming it
Swift AlloyPrefer a useful speed project, otherwise use a safe spare target
Any Kalguuran CrestUse one eligible Crest; the challenge does not require every Crest type
Exceptional VerisiumFind an eligible Unique or advanced Anvil target before attempting the craft
Cyclonic AlloyUse only after confirming the item type and replacement outcome
Prismatic AlloyApply to an eligible target that can survive the random replacement
Mystic AlloyCheck whether its result has real value before using a filler item
Sovereign AlloyCompare the material's market value with the intended craft
Celestial AlloyReserve for a suitable valuable base when possible
Any FluxComplete one eligible Flux craft and verify the counter afterward

Runic Alloys replace a random existing modifier with their stated crafted modifier. A filler item must therefore be Rare, eligible, and expendable. Do not use an expensive equipped item simply to complete the counter. Exceptional Verisium and a Kalguuran Crest require compatible targets, so identify those targets before buying or farming the ingredient.

Patch 0.5.4 expanded the Flux options that count toward The Artisan. The official 0.5.4 notes confirm that Thaumaturgic Fluxes now satisfy the Any Flux condition. Check the in-game counter after use rather than following older launch-week advice that excludes them.

The Cartographer: Fully Allocate 311 Atlas Points

The Cartographer asks for the entire main Atlas Passive Tree to be allocated. This means all 311 tracked points, not simply revealing the Fortress, completing ordinary Waystones, or reaching a preferred Atlas setup. Allocate points as they are earned so the challenge screen exposes any missing total immediately.

The normal route begins with a Precursor Tower and the Fortress. Maps inside the Fortress award Atlas Passive Points, and completing the full structure eventually provides enough points for the entire tree. The main Atlas Tree no longer uses conventional respecialisation because every node can ultimately be allocated; selectable multi-choice nodes can be changed without leaving points unspent.

  1. Complete the campaign and activate the first required Precursor Tower.
  2. Enter the Fortress progression and clear every accessible point-granting map.
  3. Prioritise Gateway and Citadel routes needed to open blocked sections.
  4. Defeat Arbiter of Divinity when the required access is ready.
  5. Use the completion reward to resolve further Fortress sections efficiently.
  6. Allocate every awarded point and compare the Atlas total with 311.

Repeated Arbiter of Divinity progress can complete large Fortress sections faster than clearing every remaining map individually, but later encounters become more demanding. Use the shortcut only while the build can defeat the current version consistently. Otherwise, complete safe Fortress maps and improve the character before risking additional access.

The main Atlas Tree is separate from the dedicated trees for individual mechanics. Filling Expedition, Ritual, Delirium, or other specialised trees does not replace the 311 main-tree requirement. The official endgame changes describe the Fortress point system and the fully allocatable main Atlas Tree.

The Vanquisher: Three Required Pinnacle Bosses

The Vanquisher requires three exact kills:

BossEndgame systemCritical requirement
Vessel of KulemakAbyssMust be defeated at full strength
The BodachRitualComplete the required Pinnacle encounter
TangmazuDeliriumComplete the required Pinnacle encounter

A standard Vessel of Kulemak kill does not satisfy the challenge. The boss must be restored to full strength through the Abyss progression before the successful attempt. Read the encounter interface and quest state before opening the fight; consuming access on the wrong version wastes both time and currency.

Progress Abyss, Ritual, and Delirium while working toward level 90 and full Atlas allocation. Their quest versions introduce the systems and provide deterministic first access, while repeatable versions support further attempts. Save the actual Pinnacle fights for after an experience level when possible, because learning deaths can delay The Master.

Prepare separately for each boss instead of using one generic setup. Verify damage type, ailment protection, recovery, movement, and whether the build can sustain a longer fight. A character capable of fast mapping may still fail a Pinnacle encounter because its damage depends on killing packs or its recovery collapses against one target.

Final Checklist and Common Mistakes

  • Skipping Hunter bosses: kill them during the campaign to avoid searching old zones later.
  • Assuming one long recipe fills Runeseeker: confirm all six separate inscription lengths in the challenge screen.
  • Storing unidentified Uniques: identify them immediately so Reliquarian progresses passively.
  • Using the wrong trial entry: the item must qualify for the next Ascendancy milestone.
  • Wasting Artisan materials: check target eligibility and market value before crafting.
  • Filling the wrong Atlas Tree: Cartographer requires the 311-point main tree.
  • Fighting the wrong Kulemak version: only the full-strength kill completes Vanquisher.
  • Bossing near a level: secure level 90 before risking repeated endgame deaths.

Before the final push, the Challenges screen should show Hunter 6 of 6, Runeseeker 6 of 6, four completed Ascendancy milestones, level 90, Reliquarian 50 of 50, Artisan 14 of 14, Cartographer 311 of 311, and all three Vanquisher bosses. Check these counters after every expensive craft or boss kill while the action can still be repeated.

Conclusion

The full Knight of Aldur Armour Set is earned most efficiently by overlapping objectives. Finish campaign bosses, shorter Remnant recipes, early trials, and Unique identifications together; use Atlas progression to complete level 90, the remaining Remnant lengths, Artisan materials, and all 311 Atlas points; then close the route with the three required Pinnacle Bosses.

Open the Challenges screen now and identify the earliest missing counter rather than starting the hardest objective. One forgotten campaign boss or unused common Alloy is faster to fix today than after every remaining goal has already become late-endgame content.
