PoE 3.29 Challenges Guide: All 40 Curse of the Allflame Challenges and Rewards

PoE 3.29 Challenges Guide: All 40 Curse of the Allflame Challenges and Rewards

Forty challenges. Four ocean-themed cosmetics. One final sprint before Wraeclast moves on to its next league. Path of Exile 3.29: Curse of the Allflame gives you plenty to chase, but earning all the rewards is a different game from simply clearing maps. Some challenges reward normal Atlas progression, others demand carefully prepared Voyages, unusual combinations of league mechanics, expensive crafting materials, or victories against Uber Pinnacle Bosses.

The good news? You don't need to conquer every nightmare to earn the complete cosmetic set. The Oceanic Portal Effect unlocks at 36 challenges, leaving four objectives you can skip. If you're chasing the full 40/40 and the highest Allflame Challenger Trophy progression, however, you'll need a proper plan. This guide covers every challenge, its requirements, the smartest order to tackle them, and the mistakes that can turn a quick completion into an evening of wasted maps.

Short Answer

PoE 3.29 has 40 Curse of the Allflame challenges. Complete 12 for the Oceanic Weapon Effect, 24 for the Fangtooth Moray Pet, 32 for the Captain's Wheel Back Attachment, and 36 for the Oceanic Portal Effect. The Allflame Challenger Trophy also progresses as you complete challenges. The league ends on November 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM PST. For the fastest route, finish campaign objectives first, combine Atlas challenges with five-Scarab mapping, progress Charts and Voyages alongside your maps, and leave conditional boss fights and Uber encounters until your build is ready.

PoE 3.29 Challenge Rewards: Every Cosmetic and Milestone

Grinding Gear Games split the main rewards across four milestones. There is no need to finish all 40 challenges just to get the final portal. The last four completions are for players who want the full challenge count and maximum progression on the league's hideout trophy.

36 Challenges8 ChallengesOceanic Portal EffectA themed portal appearance for your character.

All four main cosmetics can also be used in Path of Exile 2. They are visual rewards, so none provides extra damage, defenses, currency, or experience. You can see the original reward announcement in Grinding Gear Games' Curse of the Allflame challenge rewards post.

When Does Curse of the Allflame End?

The deadline matters more than it usually does because several challenges need dozens or hundreds of completed encounters. Don't leave those counters sitting at zero while you spend your final week shopping for boss invitations.

League Deadline: November 9, 2026

GGG scheduled the Curse of the Allflame challenge league to end at 1:00 PM PST on November 9. That is 9:00 PM UTC, or 11:00 PM in Kyiv. Path of Exile 3.30 is scheduled for November 13, so finish your league-specific objectives before the current league closes. The schedule comes from GGG's expansion timeline announcement.

The Best Order to Complete All 40 PoE 3.29 Challenges

The most efficient approach is to work on overlapping objectives. A single well-prepared Tier 16 map can advance Atlas completion, Scarab usage, explicit modifier totals, Astrolabe progress, league mechanics, and even your supply of Charts. Running those activities separately is the quickest way to make 40/40 feel endless.

6. Final 40/40 PushNightmare maps, Uber bosses, long grinds38–40 and anything unfinished

If your Atlas is still largely empty, establishing access to your maps and Voidstones comes first. Our PoE Atlas progression service covers that part of the endgame; the strategy below assumes you can eventually sustain the Tier 16 maps needed for the harder objectives.

Challenges 1–7: Campaign and First Allflame Encounters

These are the challenges you should clear before serious endgame farming begins. Most take care of themselves during the ten-act story, provided you don't ignore side quests or the new league mechanic.

1. Beginner's Basics

Requirements: Defeat Hillock, Brutus, and Merveil.

How to complete: Follow the Act 1 campaign. Hillock guards the first settlement, Brutus waits in the prison, and Merveil closes the act. You don't need special modifiers, difficulty settings, or a separate farming route.

2. Deep Dive

Requirements: Visit The Sovereign, place an Allflame Lantern, and chart an area.

How to complete: Engage with the Curse of the Allflame introductory questline instead of rushing straight past it. Visit the ship, follow the Lantern tutorial, and finish a charting encounter. This unlocks the foundation for several much longer challenges later.

3. Peddler's Produce I

Requirements: Use vendor recipes to receive an Armourer's Scrap, Blacksmith's Whetstone, Glassblower's Bauble, and Gemcutter's Prism.

How to complete: Collect suitable quality armour, weapons, flasks, and gems for their respective vendor recipes. The important distinction is that you must receive the items from a recipe; simply purchasing the currency from a vendor does not satisfy the challenge. Set aside quality drops during leveling so you don't need to hunt for them afterward.

4. Act Adversaries I

Requirements: Defeat Merveil in Act 1, Vaal Oversoul in Act 2, Dominus in Act 3, Malachai in Act 4, and Kitava in Act 5.

How to complete: Finish the first half of the campaign. Every boss is part of the main story, so there is no separate boss-farming requirement here.

5. Possessive Pantheons

Requirements: Complete all eight quests: The Father of War, The Cloven One, The Puppet Mistress, The Master of a Million Faces, Queen of Despair, Reflection of Terror, Queen of the Sands, and The Ruler of Highgate.

How to complete: Check your quest journal while progressing through Acts 6–9 and finish the Pantheon-related side objectives before moving on. This is one of the easiest challenges to overlook when following a speed-leveling route.

6. Underwater Undertaking

Requirements: Chart four areas, complete one Voyage, and use Dead Man's Sulphur to craft an item.

How to complete: Return to The Sovereign as your first Charts become available, complete a Voyage, and interact with the league's Sulphur crafting system. Don't hoard every drop of Sulphur for a future perfect item; a basic craft gets the tutorial objective out of the way.

7. Act Adversaries II

Requirements: Defeat Tsoagoth in Act 6, Arakaali in Act 7, Lunaris and Solaris in Act 8, the Depraved Trinity in Act 9, and Kitava in Act 10.

How to complete: Finish the campaign. Once Act 10 Kitava falls, you should have both Act Adversaries challenges completed and be ready to begin Atlas progression.

Challenges 8–16: Atlas Progression and League Mechanics

This is where efficient mapping starts paying off. Build your Atlas around mechanics you can clear quickly, and avoid changing your passive tree for every individual objective. Several of these challenges can progress in the same maps.

8. Atlas Accomplishment

Requirements: Complete all 100 non-unique maps on the Atlas.

How to complete: Work through missing map layouts systematically. Use your Atlas to identify gaps, trade for stubborn missing maps when necessary, and avoid running the same familiar layouts while a dozen others remain uncompleted. The challenge is about map completion, not the separate Atlas passive bonus total.

9. Ingrained Increases

Requirements: Complete any three of these six objectives: defeat 30 Essence monsters, open 30 Strongboxes, activate 30 Shrines, defeat 30 Possessed monsters, defeat 30 Rogue Exiles, or defeat 30 Rare Beyond monsters.

How to complete: Essence, Strongboxes, and Shrines make a straightforward trio because you can increase their appearance through Atlas investment and Scarabs. If your build already farms Rogue Exiles or Beyond, use that existing setup instead of rebuilding your entire Atlas.

10. Legendary Leagues

Requirements: Finish any five of these twelve counters: 30 Abysses, 30 Expeditions, 100 Harvest plots, 30 Legion encounters, 30 Smuggler's Caches, 30 Delirium Mirrors, 200 Ultimatum waves, 30 Blights, 100 Rituals, 30 Ore Deposit encounters, 30 Unstable Breaches or Hives, or 30 defeated Mercenaries.

How to complete: Choose five mechanics your character clears without slowing down. Abyss, Expedition, Legion, Delirium, and Mercenaries are an attractive combination for fast mapping builds, but the best five depend on your Atlas and gear. Remember that the challenge asks for five completed categories, not five total encounters.

11. Trustworthy Teachers

Requirements: Complete any two types of Master missions, ten times each, in Tier 16 maps with at least 80% Item Quantity. The choices are Niko, Einhar, Jun, and Alva.

How to complete: Prepare ten qualifying Tier 16 maps for each of your two chosen Masters. Niko is convenient because Sulphite objectives are usually quick; Alva can also fit well into a fast mapping session. Check the map's quantity before opening it. A completed mission in a map below 80% quantity won't help this challenge.

12. Nautical Navigation

Requirements: Complete ten Voyages, defeat 200 Rare monsters during Voyages, and spend a total of 50,000 Dead Man's Sulphur crafting equipment.

How to complete: Run Voyages regularly and prioritize layouts that provide plenty of Rare monsters. The 50,000 counter refers to Sulphur used for crafting, not 50,000 separate crafting clicks. This challenge is a major reason to keep interacting with the league mechanic even after its tutorial is finished.

13. Savage Sellswords

Requirements: Complete any three of four Mercenary objectives: kill 100 Rare or Unique monsters in level 68+ areas while accompanied by an allied Mercenary; claim 15 items with Infamous modifiers; complete 15 maps with Mercenary Scarabs or Warrants; or defeat 30 Infamous Mercenaries in level 68+ areas.

How to complete: Keep an allied Mercenary active during ordinary mapping, then combine that progress with Mercenary Scarabs or Warrants. Claim Infamous-modifier items when they appear. If one objective is proving slow, remember you can skip one of the four categories entirely.

14. Chromatic Crafting

Requirements: Use ten Chromatic Orbs, have 15 coloured sockets across equipped items, and socket a skill gem with at least 60% quality.

How to complete: Handle the Chromatic Orb and socket requirements early. The high-quality gem is the real preparation step: check the current gem-quality system and your intended gem before investing valuable crafting resources. Don't assume that an ordinary low-quality gem will naturally reach the required total during leveling.

15. Vanquished Villains

Requirements: Socket four Voidstones into your Atlas.

How to complete: Progress through the relevant endgame boss encounters, obtain all four Voidstones, then physically socket them into your Atlas. Owning the stones without inserting them isn't enough. If your build has excellent clear speed but struggles with bosses, address that weakness before planning the Uber encounters required by challenge 39.

16. Taxing Tasks

Requirements: Complete any five of eleven advanced league objectives, using area level 81 or higher wherever the encounter allows it:

  • Complete five Abyssal Depths.
  • Complete five Logbooks with at least ten active Remnants.
  • Complete five Tier 4 Harvest Seed encounters.
  • Complete three Domains of Timeless Conflict with at least 25 rewards.
  • Complete five Blueprints with four revealed wings.
  • Complete 60 Simulacrum waves.
  • Fully complete ten Ultimatums.
  • Complete five Blighted or Blight-Ravaged maps.
  • Complete all Rituals in ten maps containing at least one Blood-filled Vessel.
  • Claim rewards from 30 successfully completed Rare Atlas Runner maps.
  • Complete five Hive Fortresses or defeat five Breach Marshals.

How to complete: Pick the five activities that overlap with your existing farming. Simulacrum waves, fully completed Ultimatums, Blighted maps, Atlas Runners, and Abyssal Depths can form a workable combination. The challenge becomes much more expensive if you try to complete every category instead of selecting five.

Challenges 17–25: Charts, Ascendancy, Crafting and Bosses

Several challenges in this group are much easier if you've been saving the right items since the campaign. Others reward players who have already invested time in The Sovereign and the wider endgame. Check your stash before buying anything.

17. Comprehensive Charting

Requirements: Complete any nine different Chart types out of fourteen: Anchorfield, Brine King's Domain, Clam-infested Shelf, Diving Shoals, Eldritch Depths, Hazardous Depths, Infested Bathyspheres, Lost Ruins, Abyssal Plain, Pelagic Abyss, Seafloor Ridges, Sea Pillars, Sunken Totems, and Undersea Groves.

How to complete: Track the types you have already finished. A repeated Chart may produce useful loot, but it won't give you another distinct type for this challenge. Trade for missing types if you're short on time and playing in a trade league.

18. Achieve Ascension

Requirements: Use the Ascendancy Device in the Normal, Cruel, Merciless, and Eternal Labyrinths, and gain a Bloodline Class.

How to complete: Finish all four Labyrinth tiers, making sure you use the Ascendancy Device rather than simply defeating Izaro and leaving. Complete the requirements for a Bloodline Class as a separate objective. Don't confuse gaining a Bloodline Class with allocating ordinary Ascendancy points.

19. Devious Divination

Requirements: Complete any three of four tasks: open 40 Stacked Decks, turn in 30 Divination Card sets, complete ten red-tier maps with a Divination Scarab applied, or scry a map.

How to complete: Opening Stacked Decks and running ten red-tier maps are straightforward. For the third objective, compare the cost of completing cheap card sets against the effort needed to scry a map. You only need three categories.

20. Peddler's Produce II

Requirements: Complete vendor recipes that award a Unique item five times, a Scarab five times, and a Tier 16 map five times.

How to complete: This is another recipe challenge, not a shopping challenge. Plan the relevant recipe combinations before buying ingredients, and make sure each trade actually produces the required reward. Repeat each recipe category five times to finish its counter.

21. Challenging Curators

Requirements: Defeat any six of eight boss categories at level 80 or higher: Uber Atziri; Izaro; an Abyssal Lich; the Omnitect; the Vox Twins; K'Tash, Ghorr, or Beidat; Medved, Vorana, or Uhtred; and the Black Knight, Admiral Valerius, or Sasan.

How to complete: Choose accessible boss categories first. The level requirement is crucial: defeating the correct boss in a lower-level encounter won't count. Inspect the encounter's level before spending a fragment, invitation, or other access item.

22. Ethereal Enhancements

Requirements: Use any five of nine distinct Cursed Ducat types: Merrick's, Cyaxan's, The Genteel's, Kishara's, Telesia's, Rotmother's, Brinehook's, Katakohi's, or Tzamoto's Ducat.

How to complete: Save or acquire five different types and use each one. Five copies of the same Ducat do not fulfill five distinct-type requirements. Coordinate this challenge with your Sulphur crafting plan so the materials also contribute to useful equipment upgrades.

23. Remarkable Realms

Requirements: Complete any 15 of these 18 Unique maps:

  • Vaults of Atziri
  • Maelström of Chaos
  • The Coward's Trial
  • Acton's Nightmare
  • Poorjoy's Asylum
  • Mao Kun
  • Oba's Cursed Trove
  • Olmec's Sanctum
  • Death and Taxes
  • Whakawairua Tuahu
  • The Vinktar Square
  • Caer Blaidd, Wolfpack's Den
  • The Putrid Cloister
  • Hallowed Ground
  • The Twilight Temple
  • Pillars of Arun
  • Doryani's Machinarium
  • Hall of the Grandmasters

How to complete: Buy or collect the cheaper Unique maps first. You can skip three, so expensive or awkward maps such as Doryani's Machinarium and Hall of the Grandmasters are reasonable candidates to leave until last. Be sure to satisfy each map's completion condition; entering it is not enough.

24. Stacked Scarabs

Requirements: Complete maps using a cumulative total of 750 applied Scarabs. Every Scarab used in a successfully completed map contributes to the counter.

How to complete: Use five Scarabs whenever your map setup supports it. At that rate, 150 completed maps provide 750 Scarab uses. This is one of the best challenges to progress alongside Astounding Astrolabes, Modified Maps, and general Atlas farming.

25. Corrupted Crystals

Requirements: Complete any three of four gem objectives: level ten gems to level 20; have 20 corrupted gems socketed in your equipment; corrupt a gem into level 21 or 23% quality; or level a Pact Skill Gem to level 20.

How to complete: Keep spare gems gaining experience while mapping. If you already have enough corrupted gems, socket them together to clear that objective. Since only three tasks are required, avoid spending excessive currency forcing a level 21 or 23%-quality corruption if the other categories are easier.

Challenges 26–34: The Big Endgame Checklist

These are the challenges that punish careless map preparation. Read the full requirement before opening an expensive map: an Astrolabe without the right Scarab count, an insufficient quantity roll, or a missing Atlas passive can waste the entire run.

26. Cross Contamination

Requirements: Complete any four of six combined-mechanic encounters:

  • Defeat a Mercenary while affected by Delirium.
  • Defeat a Possessed Rogue Exile while an allied Mercenary accompanies you.
  • Complete an Originator-influenced map affected by an Astrolabe.
  • Defeat an Abyssal Consort while affected by a Shrine.
  • Defeat a Breach Marshal empowered by Wildwood Wisps.
  • Defeat a Legion General while affected by a Tempest.

How to complete: Prepare the mechanics together instead of waiting for a lucky coincidence. The Delirium/Mercenary and Possessed Exile/allied Mercenary combinations are good places to begin. For the Abyssal Consort objective, keep the Shrine effect active until the kill. The challenge is about the conditions during the encounter, not merely having both mechanics somewhere on the map.

27. Superior Sovereign

Requirements: Fully upgrade The Sovereign, completing all five ship upgrades.

How to complete: Progress the ship's upgrade chain through Charts, Voyages, and its associated league encounters. The five upgrades are Deadcaller Bellows, Sulphur Purifier, Spectral Infuser, Alchemical Exchange, and Forbidden Scripture. Prioritize them as you discover the relevant objectives instead of saving all ship progression until the end of the league.

28. Bountiful Bloodlines

Requirements: Defeat any seven of twelve boss or encounter categories: the Trialmaster, King in the Mists, Oshabi, Catarina, Aul, Olroth, Lycia, Farrul, Simulacrum, both It That Was Tul and It That Was Esh, Velka, or Zorath.

How to complete: Start with encounters your character already handles comfortably. Catarina, accessible league bosses, and Simulacrum progression can provide several categories without changing builds. Check that an objective naming two bosses requires both kills before you count it as finished.

29. Astounding Astrolabes

Requirements: Complete any six of ten Astrolabe categories. For each chosen category, complete five Rare Tier 16 maps affected by that Astrolabe and using five Scarabs. The available types are Templar, Fruiting, Lightless, Grasping, Nameless, Fungal, Chaotic, Deceptive, Timeless, and Runic.

How to complete: Choose six affordable Astrolabe types, then run five properly prepared maps for each one. That's a minimum of 30 qualifying map completions across six categories. The five-Scarab condition applies to every counted map. Do not confuse this challenge with a requirement to run 30 maps for each individual Astrolabe type.

30. Modified Maps

Requirements: Accumulate 3,000 explicit map modifiers across completed maps.

How to complete: Run well-rolled Rare maps consistently. An eight-modifier map contributes eight toward the total, so 375 such completions would reach 3,000. Mixing six-, seven-, and eight-modifier maps is fine; the key is completing them. Start this challenge early because it is a long passive counter, not a quick evening's farming.

31. Excruciating Echoes

Requirements: Complete any two of four map categories. Every qualifying map must be Rare, Tier 16, and have at least 150% Item Quantity. The categories are 30 Originator-influenced maps, five Courtyards of Wasting, five Chambers of Impunity, or five Theatres of Lies.

How to complete: Select the two categories you can access most reliably. Verify the map's item quantity before entering, especially if you're preparing an expensive encounter. Five special maps can be quicker than 30 Originator maps if you already have the necessary access and a build strong enough to finish them.

32. Fathomless Fears

Requirements: Complete Voyages carrying any nine of sixteen different Border Modifiers. The possible modifiers include additional monster packs, currency converted into Stacked Decks, Rare monsters dropping Sulphur, increased explicit modifier magnitudes, extra Rare-monster currency, Lanterns that do not reduce Lantern count, Altars to the Goddess, Captainsbane, Filthscrabble, Gold Lanterns, a minimum Magic-monster rarity, additional Pirate's Lockers, extra Treasure Anchors, equipment converted into Gold, a chance not to consume Charts, and additional Scarab drops from Rare monsters.

How to complete: Inspect the Border Modifiers on each Voyage and target variants you haven't completed. You need nine distinct modifiers, not nine repetitions of the same Voyage. This pairs naturally with Nautical Navigation, so avoid abandoning the league mechanic after completing ten Voyages.

33. Intrigued Interlopers

Requirements: Complete any two of three Eldritch objectives in Rare Tier 16 maps:

  • Complete ten maps after activating at least four Eater of Worlds Altars with boss-affecting modifiers while Eldritch Gaze is allocated.
  • Complete ten maps after activating at least four Searing Exarch Altars with boss-affecting modifiers while Wrath of the Cosmos is allocated.
  • Defeat 25 Maven-witnessed map bosses with at least 150% Item Quantity while Destructive Play is allocated.

How to complete: Pick two routes before allocating your Atlas passives. For the Eater and Exarch objectives, ordinary altar activation isn't enough: the relevant altars must affect the map boss. For the Maven route, check both the Item Quantity condition on the qualifying boss encounters and Destructive Play allocation.

34. Potent Possibilities

Requirements: Use any ten of twenty special currency categories. Options include Influenced Exalted Orbs; Veiled Exalted or Chaos Orbs; Orbs of Remembrance, Unravelling, or Intention; Eldritch Exalted, Annulment, or Chaos Orbs; Exceptional Eldritch Ichors or Embers; ten Tainted Currency uses; Awakener's Orb; Orb of Dominance; Mirror of Kalandra; Sacred Orb; Fracturing Orb; Hinekora's Lock; Tempering or Tailoring Orb; Reflecting Mist; five Runegrafts or Tattoos; five Enshrouding Crystals; 40 Catalysts; four Corrupted Essences; ten Blight Oils; and Sacred Crystallised Lifeforce or Crystallised Rancour.

How to complete: Compare the cost of each category before crafting. You need ten distinct categories, and some require multiple uses while others require only one. Start with inexpensive options and avoid consuming a Mirror of Kalandra or another premium currency just to fill a challenge slot when cheaper categories remain available.

Challenges 35–40: Invitations, Nightmare Maps and the Final Grind

The last six challenges contain some of the toughest objectives in the league. A 36/40 player can skip four challenges overall, but a true 40/40 run must eventually clear every one of these. Save your strongest gear, expensive encounters, and patient boss practice for this stage.

35. Succinct Summons

Requirements: Complete 30 Invitations, each with at least five explicit modifiers.

How to complete: Roll Invitations until they have five or more explicit modifiers, then complete the encounter. Lower-cost Invitations are ideal for repetition. Don't spend your best materials on 30 difficult invitations if a more accessible invitation type satisfies the same condition.

36. Atlas Assertions

Requirements: Complete any six of eleven random Atlas encounters: River's End, Lake Islet, The Manor Foyer, The Court of Chaos, Gambling District, Forgotten Shrine, Syndicate Hideout, Planned Heist, Uncharted Expedition, Untainted Paradise, and Overgrown Grove.

How to complete: Keep running maps and clearing qualifying Atlas Anomalies as they appear. This is more about encountering the required variety than repeating one profitable activity. Track completed types and avoid passing up an unfamiliar anomaly just because its rewards aren't your usual farming target.

37. Brinerot's Bloody Bounty

Requirements: Defeat Velka, the Tide Witch, satisfying any three of four conditions: avoid being hit by Brine Storm Call, Anchors, Lightning Whip, or Crashing Brine.

How to complete: Treat the fight as a mechanics test rather than a damage race. Study the telegraphs, preserve movement skills for dangerous patterns, and prioritize positioning over an extra second of damage. A clean attempt can satisfy multiple conditions. If you get clipped by one attack, focus on keeping the other three conditions intact.

38. Horrific Halls

Requirements: Complete any two of five Nightmare maps: Abomination, Citadel, Fortress, Sanctuary, or Ziggurat. Each must be corrupted, have at least 150% Item Quantity, and have both five Scarabs and five Delirium Orbs applied.

How to complete: Prepare every condition before opening the map. This is a brutal combination, especially for characters with weak defenses or limited recovery. Choose layouts your build handles well, avoid map modifiers that disable your defensive layers, and don't risk valuable materials on a configuration you haven't checked carefully.

39. Apex Assailants

Requirements: Defeat any five of ten Pinnacle Boss encounters in level 85 areas. The options are Sirus, the Elder, the Maven, the Searing Exarch, the Eater of Worlds, High Templar Venarius, the Shaper, and the Incarnations of Dread, Fear, and Neglect.

How to complete: The area level is the trap: ordinary versions of these bosses do not satisfy a level 85 requirement. Plan around Uber-tier encounters, learn their dangerous phases, and choose five your build can clear reliably. If boss access or execution is the bottleneck, the PoE boss kill service covers Pinnacle and Uber encounters, while the underlying challenge still needs to be tracked on your character.

40. Gallant Grinding Goals

Requirements: Complete any four of six major grinds:

  • Reach character level 100.
  • Cleanse 150 Darkshrines in the Endgame Labyrinth.
  • Defeat 30 Pinnacle Bosses in level 85 areas.
  • Complete 50 corrupted Rare Tier 16 maps with eight explicit modifiers.
  • Complete 40 Nightmare maps.
  • Defeat 400 Rare monsters in level 83 Voyages.

How to complete: Choose your four objectives based on the rest of your 40/40 route. If you're already farming Nightmares and Uber bosses, those counters may be practical. If your build clears maps quickly but struggles against pinnacle mechanics, 50 eight-mod maps and 400 Voyage Rare monsters are more natural picks. Level 100 and 150 Labyrinth Darkshrines are alternatives, not mandatory requirements.

How to Farm Several Challenges in the Same Map

Challenge hunting becomes much faster when every map has more than one job. Instead of opening a map for an Essence counter, another for Scarabs, and a third for Astrolabes, build a repeatable loop that advances several objectives together.

The Five-Scarab Tier 16 Route

Prepare a pool of Rare Tier 16 maps with modifiers your build can safely handle. Apply five Scarabs, choose a mechanic that also contributes to Legendary Leagues or Ingrained Increases, and use an Astrolabe when you're working on its category. Complete the map and collect Charts along the way.

That single run can move Stacked Scarabs, Modified Maps, Astounding Astrolabes, your Atlas completion, and selected league-mechanic counters forward. If you're also working on Excruciating Echoes or Intrigued Interlopers, verify their stricter quantity and influence conditions before entering.

The Voyage Route

Don't let Charts pile up indefinitely. After a block of maps, return to The Sovereign and run Voyages. Check each Voyage's Border Modifier, look for Chart types you still need, and prioritize Rare monsters whenever Nautical Navigation or Gallant Grinding Goals remains incomplete.

Use accumulated Dead Man's Sulphur on equipment crafting and collect different Cursed Ducats for Ethereal Enhancements. This way, one session contributes to Underwater Undertaking, Nautical Navigation, Comprehensive Charting, Superior Sovereign, Fathomless Fears, and potentially the final grind.

The Boss and Invitation Route

Group your outstanding boss objectives by access requirements. Challenging Curators wants level 80+ encounters, Bountiful Bloodlines needs distinct boss categories, and Apex Assailants demands level 85 Pinnacle encounters. Don't treat those as interchangeable.

For a character that crushes maps but struggles against bosses, improving single-target damage, recovery, and ailment defenses often saves more time than buying another set of fragments. The PoE custom build service focuses on character setup when a build has reached that kind of progression wall.

The Fastest 36/40 Route: Which Four Challenges Should You Skip?

If the Oceanic Portal Effect is your real goal, clearing 36 challenges is enough. You can abandon four objectives completely, so choose those four according to your build and the time you have left.

Practical candidates to skip for 36/40
ChallengeWhy It Can Be Worth SkippingComplete It Instead If...
37. Brinerot's Bloody BountyConditional Velka mechanics can require repeated, carefully played fights. You know the fight well and can avoid three attacks consistently.
38. Horrific HallsCorrupted, heavily Delirious Nightmare maps are extremely punishing.Your build can safely handle heavily juiced endgame maps.
39. Apex AssailantsFive level 85 Pinnacle encounters demand serious bossing capability. You're already farming Uber bosses successfully.
40. Gallant Grinding GoalsFour long objectives can consume a huge amount of remaining league time.Several of its counters are already nearly complete.

This is a suggested skip list, not a universal ranking. If you've already finished 35 or more challenges and Modified Maps is only halfway done, dropping that grind may be smarter than skipping an Uber boss challenge your character can clear. Likewise, a dedicated bossing character may find Apex Assailants easier than Atlas Assertions or a lengthy Voyage objective.

How to Prepare Your Build for 40/40

The difficulty changes dramatically after the straightforward mapping objectives. A character that deletes ordinary Tier 16 packs can still struggle in a 100% Delirious Nightmare map or against a level 85 Pinnacle Boss. Prepare for the content you're actually planning to run.

  • Reliable damage: Aim for consistent single-target damage, not just screen-wide clear speed. Velka and Uber bosses punish long fights.
  • Layered defenses: Combine appropriate mitigation, recovery, resistance coverage, and protection against dangerous ailments.
  • Movement and positioning: Keep a movement skill available for scripted attacks. Brinerot's Bloody Bounty rewards clean execution more than greed.
  • Map modifier awareness: Don't corrupt or open an expensive Nightmare map without checking whether its modifiers cripple your build.
  • Currency reserve: Save enough for Invitations, maps, Astrolabes, Scarabs, and replacement boss attempts. Spending everything on one upgrade can leave you unable to access the remaining challenges.

If you only have a few evenings left, prioritize objectives with predictable progress per hour. A repeatable farming route is usually more valuable than chasing a random encounter without a clear backup plan.

Common Mistakes That Waste Challenge Progress

Most failed challenge attempts aren't caused by lack of damage. They're caused by overlooking one line of the requirement. Keep this checklist handy before you invest in an expensive encounter.

  • Wrong area level: A level 80 boss and a level 85 Uber Pinnacle Boss are not interchangeable.
  • Missing Scarabs: Astounding Astrolabes requires five Scarabs on every qualifying Tier 16 Rare map.
  • Not enough Item Quantity: Several endgame tasks require 150% quantity. Check the actual value rather than assuming a Rare map qualifies.
  • Wrong Atlas passives: Intrigued Interlopers specifically names Eldritch Gaze, Wrath of the Cosmos, or Destructive Play.
  • Repeating completed categories: Challenges asking for different Chart, Ducat, Astrolabe, or boss types won't progress from repeating the same type.
  • Confusing currency spent with crafting clicks: Nautical Navigation asks for a cumulative Sulphur crafting amount.
  • Forgetting to socket Voidstones: Vanquished Villains requires four Voidstones placed in the Atlas.
  • Completing an encounter without its special condition: A Shrine buff, Delirium effect, allied Mercenary, or boss-affecting altar must be active when specified.
  • Ignoring the deadline: Expensive 40/40 objectives need time for failed attempts, missing access items, and last-minute trading.

How to Claim Your Curse of the Allflame Rewards

Track your progress through Path of Exile's Challenges interface. Once you reach a reward threshold, check your account's cosmetic inventory for the corresponding effect or pet. These rewards are account cosmetics rather than items you need to extract from a boss chest.

  1. Open the Challenges interface and check your completed count.
  2. Reach 12, 24, 32, or 36 challenges in the normal league, or the corresponding Ruthless threshold.
  3. Open your cosmetic inventory and look for the newly unlocked reward.
  4. Apply the weapon effect, pet, back attachment, or portal appearance to your character as appropriate.
  5. Check your hideout decorations for the Allflame Challenger Trophy pieces awarded through challenge progression.

If a reward doesn't appear immediately, verify that the relevant challenge is marked complete and refresh your character or account display before assuming the unlock failed. The reward thresholds are tied to your completed challenges, not to how much currency you've spent on the activity.

PoE 3.29 Challenges FAQ

These are the questions worth resolving before your final challenge push, especially if you're deciding between 36/40 and the full completion.

Do I need all 40 challenges to unlock every cosmetic reward?

No. The four main cosmetic rewards unlock at 12, 24, 32, and 36 challenges. Going beyond 36 is for full challenge completion and additional Allflame Challenger Trophy progression.

When do the PoE 3.29 challenges end?

The Curse of the Allflame challenge league ends on November 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM PST. Complete your remaining objectives before that deadline.

Can I use Curse of the Allflame rewards in Path of Exile 2?

Yes. Grinding Gear Games announced that the league's four main cosmetic rewards are also usable in Path of Exile 2. They remain cosmetic and provide no gameplay advantage.

What are the hardest challenges in PoE 3.29?

Horrific Halls, Apex Assailants, Brinerot's Bloody Bounty, and Gallant Grinding Goals are demanding for different reasons: extreme map difficulty, Uber boss requirements, conditional boss mechanics, and large completion counters. Atlas Assertions can also become frustrating if the required random encounters refuse to appear.

Should I farm challenges in Solo Self-Found or Trade League?

Both are possible, but Trade League makes it easier to target missing Unique maps, Astrolabes, crafting currency, and boss access items. In Solo Self-Found, favor objectives that naturally overlap with your chosen Atlas strategy and begin long counters as early as possible.

Where can I check the exact requirements for every challenge?

Use the in-game Challenges interface as your immediate tracker. For a searchable reference to all 40 objectives and their numerical requirements, the PoEDB Curse of the Allflame challenge database lists the objectives derived from the game data.

Conclusion

Curse of the Allflame offers a satisfying final chase, but 40/40 is won through planning more often than raw grinding. Clear the campaign objectives, establish your Atlas, and combine five-Scarab mapping with the long counters instead of treating every challenge as a separate expedition. Keep Charts and Voyages moving alongside your maps, save expensive encounters for a properly prepared build, and double-check every quantity, area-level, and modifier requirement.

If you want every ocean-themed cosmetic, 36/40 is the milestone to chase. If you want the complete challenge record and the full Allflame Challenger Trophy progression, the final four demand more patience, stronger preparation, and a willingness to tackle Wraeclast's nastiest encounters. Either way, November 9 is the finish line. Spend your remaining league time on challenges that actually move your counter forward — and make that last portal worth the fight.
