Valorant Agent Tier List: Best Agents for Ranked

Valorant Agent Tier List: Best Agents for Ranked

The strongest VALORANT Ranked Agents in Patch 13.09 are currently Clove, Sage and Killjoy for broad ladder value. Clove combines one of the highest current win rates with a very high pick rate, while Sage and Killjoy continue to produce strong results across multiple skill levels.

This tier list is designed specifically for Ranked play, not professional VALORANT. Ranked rewards self-sufficiency, repeatable utility, simple team value and Agents that remain useful even when communication is limited. That is why an Agent can be excellent in VCT but rank lower here, or perform extremely well in matchmaking without dominating pro play.

Hush is currently listed separately as Provisional. She only joined the live game in Patch 13.09, so there is not enough stable data yet to place her confidently in a permanent tier.

How We Rank Valorant Agents

This is not a pure win-rate table. Raw win rate can be misleading because low-pick Agents are often played by specialists, while popular Agents attract a much wider range of skill levels.

Our Ranked tier uses five practical factors:

  • Current Ranked performance: recent win and pick-rate trends.
  • Map pool flexibility: how many current Competitive maps suit the Agent.
  • Self-sufficiency: how useful the Agent remains without perfect team communication.
  • Utility consistency: whether the Agent creates value even when aim is not perfect.
  • Skill requirement: how difficult it is to reproduce the Agent's theoretical value in normal Ranked games.

This is why Clove can rank above Omen for normal matchmaking even though coordinated teams may extract enormous value from Omen.

S Tier Valorant Agents

Clove

Clove remains the best overall Controller for Ranked despite the Patch 13.09 reduction to Pick-Me-Up movement speed.

The reason is simple: Clove solves several problems that regularly appear in matchmaking. They provide smokes, can continue helping after death and can create personal fight value without requiring perfect coordination.

Clove is especially strong for players who want to influence rounds while still taking active gunfights.

Why Clove is S Tier:

  • strong current Ranked win rate;
  • very high pick rate without collapsing in performance;
  • useful smokes on almost every active map;
  • post-death utility reduces the cost of aggressive mistakes;
  • good balance between team utility and personal carry potential.

The Patch 13.09 Haste nerf reduces some snowball potential but does not remove the core reasons Clove works so well in Ranked.

Sage

Sage is not always a centerpiece of professional compositions, but Ranked is a different environment.

Healing, Resurrection, Slow Orbs and Barrier Orb provide obvious value that does not require complicated utility coordination. Sage can slow an execute, stabilize a teammate after a fight and change the economy of a round with Resurrection.

Why Sage is S Tier:

  • strong current ladder results;
  • easy-to-understand utility;
  • useful on attack, defense and retakes;
  • excellent at slowing chaotic Ranked rounds;
  • works even when the team has limited communication.

Killjoy

Killjoy became significantly stronger after Riot's Sentinel changes. Her Turret received a large fire-rate increase, Nanoswarm duration increased and Alarmbot movement improved.

Her pick rate is lower than Agents like Clove or Jett, but current Ranked data remains very strong.

Why Killjoy is S Tier:

  • excellent site control;
  • reliable information without constant peeking;
  • strong post-plant utility;
  • good defensive value on many current maps;
  • high win-rate performance despite a relatively modest pick rate.

A Tier Valorant Agents

Sova

Sova remains one of the safest Initiator choices. Recon Bolt provides repeatable information, Drone can clear dangerous positions and Hunter's Fury has both objective and kill pressure.

He becomes especially valuable on maps with long lanes and open geometry such as Abyss and Summit.

Fade

Fade offers information, pressure and strong utility for clearing tight positions. She is easier to combine with aggressive Duelists than many players expect because Haunt and Prowlers give entries clear information before committing.

Her current Ranked performance is also strong enough to make her one of the safest Initiator choices.

Phoenix

Phoenix continues to perform surprisingly well in Ranked because his kit is extremely self-sufficient.

He can flash for himself, heal himself, block vision and use Run It Back to create a low-risk first contact.

He loses some value in highly coordinated environments, but that matters less in normal Ranked.

Jett

Jett remains one of the most trusted Duelists in the game. Her raw win rate is not as dominant as Clove's, but her pick rate stays extremely high.

Jett remains excellent for:

  • Operator players;
  • fast first-contact entries;
  • vertical off-angles;
  • escaping after aggressive peeks.

Her placement in A instead of S reflects the fact that poor Jett play provides very little team value.

Raze

Raze offers more guaranteed space-clearing utility than most Duelists.

Grenade damage, Boom Bot information and Blast Pack movement make her particularly valuable on tighter maps and site entrances.

She is one of the best picks when enemies repeatedly hold predictable close positions.

Cypher

Cypher benefited from the wider Sentinel buffs and remains one of the best information Agents in solo queue.

Tripwires, Spycam and Cyber Cage let him control space without needing a teammate to watch every angle.

He is especially useful for players who consistently lose rounds to flanks or late rotations.

Gekko

Gekko is a strong all-round Initiator because his utility is straightforward and repeatable.

Wingman gives him unusual Spike interaction value, while Dizzy provides information and flash pressure.

He may not dominate one specific category, but his flexibility makes him reliable in Ranked.

Vyse

Vyse has been trending positively in current Ranked data and benefits from the stronger Sentinel environment Riot created during 2026.

Her value comes from controlling entry timing and forcing attackers to respect prepared defensive space.

Neon

Neon remains dangerous for players who understand movement and tempo.

She can punish slow rotations and create space faster than almost anyone, but the difference between a strong and weak Neon is large.

For experienced Neon players she can feel S Tier. For an average Ranked player, A is more realistic.

B Tier Valorant Agents

Reyna

Reyna remains one of the most popular Ranked Agents because she is built around winning individual fights.

Her problem is not that she is weak. Her problem is that most of her value appears after securing a kill.

If you are consistently one of the strongest mechanical players in the lobby, Reyna can carry games. If you are losing your opening duels, the team receives much less utility than it would from another Agent.

Chamber

Chamber remains extremely popular and produces strong individual combat statistics.

However, his overall Ranked win rate is less impressive than his pick rate suggests. He rewards strong Operator play and disciplined aim but offers less traditional site-control utility than Killjoy or Cypher.

Skye

Skye remains a useful hybrid Initiator with flashes, information and healing.

She works best when teammates actually act on her utility. That dependence keeps her below the most reliable A-tier Initiators for broad solo queue.

Deadlock

Deadlock became more attractive after Riot's Sentinel buffs and can create difficult defensive zones.

She is strongest when opponents are forced through predictable routes, but her information control is not as universally reliable as Cypher's.

Brimstone

Brimstone remains one of the easiest Controllers to convert into practical team value.

His smokes are simple, Stim Beacon supports executes and Orbital Strike is excellent for post-plants and area denial.

His range limitations and lower flexibility keep him below Clove.

Tejo

Tejo provides useful area-clearing pressure and can make defenders abandon strong positions.

He works best when the team understands how to follow his utility, which makes his Ranked value more inconsistent than Sova or Fade.

Veto

Veto gained meaningful buffs during Patch 13.00 and is more practical than earlier versions.

He can be very effective against utility-heavy teams but is not as universally valuable as Killjoy, Sage or Cypher.

C Tier Valorant Agents

Miks

Miks can support team tempo and provides useful Controller tools, but current Ranked performance is below the strongest options.

He becomes more attractive in coordinated teams where players can intentionally play around his buffs and timing.

Waylay

Waylay has mobility and strong tempo potential, but converting that movement into reliable round wins requires experience.

For specialists she can outperform this placement. For average Ranked players there are easier Duelists with more consistent results.

Iso

Iso remains dangerous in direct duels but competes with multiple Duelists that create space more reliably.

Pick him when your strength is disciplined gunfighting and you understand how to convert his shield mechanics into early advantages.

Viper

Viper remains strategically valuable on specific maps and team structures, but broad Ranked results are currently weaker.

Her utility requires preparation, fuel management and map understanding, making her less plug-and-play than Clove or Brimstone.

Omen

Omen is the clearest example of why this is a Ranked tier list rather than a pro tier list.

Professional teams can create enormous value from his flexible smokes, Paranoia and teleport mind games. Current broad Ranked win-rate data is much weaker.

Omen is not a bad Agent. He simply demands more good decisions than easier Controllers.

Breach

Breach can completely overwhelm defenders when teammates coordinate around his utility.

In uncoordinated Ranked, flashes and stuns are frequently wasted because nobody is ready to swing at the correct moment.

Yoru

Yoru has one of the highest skill ceilings among Duelists.

A strong Yoru can manipulate rotations, create false information and attack from unexpected positions. A weak Yoru often spends too much time creating complexity without creating actual round value.

D Tier Valorant Agents

Astra

Astra remains capable of powerful global utility, but she demands planning, map awareness and communication.

That makes her much harder to extract value from in normal Ranked than simpler Controllers.

KAY/O

KAY/O is another Agent whose professional value is much higher than his broad matchmaking results suggest.

Suppressing abilities and setting up coordinated flashes can be extremely strong, but his value falls when teammates cannot coordinate around timing.

Harbor

Harbor can create large amounts of temporary space and vision denial, but current Ranked performance remains among the weakest Controllers.

He is playable on the right map and with coordinated teammates, but most players will get more reliable value from Clove or Brimstone.

Where Does Hush Rank?

Hush is currently Provisional.

She was released in Patch 13.09 and has only had a few days of live Ranked data. Early statistics are weak, but treating those numbers as a permanent verdict would be misleading.

Riot has also explicitly said that Hush's Performance Score may be unstable during the first days while the system learns what effective utility usage looks like.

Her kit clearly offers strong theoretical tools:

  • guided flash;
  • forced displacement;
  • mobility;
  • remote object interaction;
  • large area-control ultimate.

The open question is how consistently average Ranked players can combine steering her utility with gunfights.

For now, treat Hush as a high-upside experimental pick rather than an established meta Agent. See our complete Hush guide for abilities, combos and counterplay.

Best Valorant Agents for Beginners

If you are new to Ranked, prioritize Agents whose utility is easy to convert into round value.

Our beginner recommendations are:

  • Phoenix: simple self-sufficient Duelist kit;
  • Sage: obvious team value and defensive control;
  • Clove: accessible Controller with strong individual agency;
  • Gekko: understandable Initiator utility;
  • Killjoy: repeatable defensive setups and automatic information.

Avoid choosing an Agent only because a tier list says they are S Tier. An A-tier Agent you understand deeply is usually more useful than an S-tier Agent you barely know.

Does Agent Win Rate Tell You Which Agent Is Best?

No. Win rate is useful but incomplete.

A low-pick Agent can have an inflated win rate because specialists represent a larger share of their players. A very popular Agent can have a lower win rate because beginners and autofilled players use them constantly.

Pick rate also matters. An Agent maintaining positive results with a large player base is usually more convincing than an Agent reaching a similar win rate in a tiny specialist sample.

Ranked Meta vs Pro Meta

Do not copy professional compositions blindly.

Professional VALORANT has:

  • planned utility combinations;
  • structured communication;
  • fixed Agent roles;
  • prepared strategies;
  • extensive opponent analysis.

Normal Ranked has much more randomness. This increases the value of Agents that can create impact independently.

Omen and KAY/O are good examples: both can be extremely valuable in coordinated environments but currently produce weaker broad Ranked results than several simpler alternatives.

Should You Always Pick an S-Tier Agent?

No.

A practical priority order is:

  1. Agent you actually know;
  2. role the team genuinely needs;
  3. Agent that fits the map;
  4. current meta strength.

Do not first-time Clove in an important Ranked match only because a tier list places Clove in S Tier.

How Many Agents Should You Main?

For most Ranked players, two strong picks are enough:

  • one main Agent;
  • one secondary Agent for bad maps or role conflicts.

A third backup is useful, but constantly rotating through six or seven Agents slows down learning.

Our Valorant rank-up guide explains why a smaller Agent pool usually produces more consistent Ranked improvement.

Valorant Agent Tier List FAQ

Who is the best Valorant Agent right now?

For broad Ranked play in Patch 13.09, Clove is our strongest overall recommendation because current ladder data combines a high win rate with a very large pick rate and strong map flexibility.

Who is the best Duelist?

Phoenix is one of the safest general Ranked choices, while Jett and Raze have higher carry and entry potential for experienced players.

Who is the best Controller?

Clove is currently the strongest broad Ranked Controller.

Who is the best Initiator?

Sova and Fade are the most reliable overall recommendations for the current Ranked environment.

Who is the best Sentinel?

Killjoy and Sage currently provide the strongest broad Ranked value, with Cypher close behind for information-heavy play.

Is Hush S Tier?

It is too early to say. Hush only arrived in Patch 13.09 and current data is still settling, so we are keeping her provisional instead of forcing an unreliable tier placement.

Is Clove still good after the Patch 13.09 nerf?

Yes. Pick-Me-Up's movement-speed bonus was reduced, but Clove's core strengths — flexible smokes, post-death utility and strong personal agency — remain intact.

Final Ranked Tier Recommendations

If you simply want the safest current choices, start with Clove, Sage or Killjoy. If you prefer Duelist, Phoenix offers excellent self-sufficiency while Jett and Raze reward stronger mechanics. For Initiator, Sova and Fade remain dependable choices across the active map pool.

Most importantly, do not switch Agents every time a tier list changes. Meta strength matters, but mastery matters more. Use this page to identify strong options, select a small Agent pool and then build map-specific experience with those Agents.
