Coins are not a replacement for Corrosive Souls. They do not simply purchase the same powers from the Altar of Corrosion. Instead, they support permanent benefits and purchases associated with the Vaults and the wider Coiled Isle system.
The Vaults of Atal’Utek are designed as an activity in which players help ancient Amani spirits fight undead forces and the Children of Ula’tek. Enemies and objectives inside the Vaults provide Corrosive Coins, while additional rewards can come from completing the activity and interacting with its progression systems.

Captain Tokka reputation is a reputation track, not a currency. Reputation is earned through Coiled Isle activities and unlocks access to rewards as the track progresses. Corrosive Souls and Corrosive Coins may be earned during some of the same activities, but the three progression systems should be tracked separately.
A reputation reward is not purchased by converting Souls into reputation. Likewise, reaching a reputation level does not automatically provide an unlimited supply of Corrosive Coins or Corrosive Souls. Check the reward source before planning your weekly activity order.

This distinction matters when deciding what to buy first. A player focused on the Venomous Abyss raid should prioritize the normal seasonal gearing systems, tier-set progress and raid preparation.
