To reach the Abyss Base in AION 2 Global, reach level 45, raise your Item Level to at least 1,000 and progress the faction Episode until it sends you through the Abyss Portal into Chaotic Lower Reshanta.
Quick answer: Elyos arrive at Latesran Western Root. Asmodians arrive at Latesran Eastern Root. If your quest says Talk to Koro at the Abyss Base, Koro is inside Lower Reshanta at your faction-side base — not back in Verteron or Altgard.
Abyss Base Requirements
| Character Level | 45 |
|---|---|
| Item Level | 1,000+ |
| First Area | Chaotic Lower Reshanta |
| Elyos Base | Latesran Western Root |
| Asmodian Base | Latesran Eastern Root |
Level 45 alone is not enough. If you stand at the portal but cannot enter, Item Level is the first number to check.
How to Get to Abyss Base as Elyos
The Elyos story reaches the Abyss through the level-45 Draupnir Episode.
- Continue the Verteron main story to Draupnir.
- Talk to Paitos and investigate Draupnir as instructed.
- Return to Paitos.
- Talk to Edna when the objective asks how to reach the Abyss.
- Reach at least 1,000 Item Level.
- Use the Abyss entry/portal connected to the Verteron story step.
- Enter Chaotic Lower Reshanta.
- You arrive on the Elyos side at Latesran Western Root.
- Follow the quest marker to Koro.
The Verteron portal route is around the Garden of the Illusion God / East Observatory side of the map near the Draupnir progression route.
How to Get to Abyss Base as Asmodian
The Asmodian equivalent is the level-45 Forgotten Commander Episode.
- Start Forgotten Commander through the Altgard story.
- Complete the Draupnir investigation objectives.
- Talk to Kiara as required.
- Receive the Abyss Portal briefing from Ivar.
- Reach at least 1,000 Item Level.
- Use the Abyss Portal.
- Enter Chaotic Lower Reshanta.
- You arrive at Latesran Eastern Root.
- Koro is near the faction base and Kibelisk.
If you are still searching around Fang Hideout, Draupnir or Altgard for Koro, you are on the wrong map.

Where Is Koro at the Abyss Base?
Koro is a Black Cloud Merchants NPC in Chaotic Lower Reshanta.
| Elyos | Latesran Western Root faction base |
|---|---|
| Asmodian | Latesran Eastern Root faction base, roughly 50 m from the local Kibelisk |
Use your quest navigation after entering Lower Reshanta. The important part is entering the correct map first; Koro is close to the faction base rather than hidden deep inside the Abyss.
Why Can't I Enter the Abyss?
Your Item Level Is Below 1,000
This is the most common problem. Reach 1,000+ before returning to the portal.
You Have Not Completed the Previous Story Step
For Asmodians, finish Ivar's portal briefing. For Elyos, follow the Draupnir quest until Edna directs you toward the Abyss.
You Are Looking for Koro Before Entering Reshanta
Koro is not the NPC standing next to your home-region portal. Enter Chaotic Lower Reshanta first.
You Are at the Wrong Faction Root
Elyos use Western Root. Asmodians use Eastern Root.
How to Return to the Abyss Later
After the story unlock, you can access the Abyss through the game's normal content navigation rather than repeating the entire story route. Open the relevant Abyss content entry and select Chaotic Lower Reshanta.
Your available Abyss time is limited by the current weekly access system, so check the remaining timer before entering for farming or PvP.
What to Do After Reaching the Abyss Base
- Turn in the faction Episode to Koro when required.
- Unlock or continue the Abyss story.
- Check Commands and Duties that award Abyss Points.
- Learn your faction base before moving into contested territory.
- Find the Ereshkigal Monolith for Reshanta Empyrean Traces.
- Check the current weekly Abyss time before long farming sessions.
