AION 2 Monoliths are the turn-in points for Empyrean Traces, the glowing collectibles commonly called Feathers. If you already collected Traces but cannot find where to use them, you need the Monolith that belongs to the same region.
Quick answer: Elyos can use the Verteron Monolith at Dawn Legion Base or Zumion Village. Asmodians can use the Altgard Monolith at Safe Haven or Nornir Assembly. In the Abyss, Elyos use the Ereshkigal Monolith at Latesran Western Root, while Asmodians use the one at Latesran Eastern Root.

Verteron Monolith Location — Elyos
Elyos characters use the Verteron Monolith for Empyrean Trace: Verteron.
You can access the same regional Monolith progression from two convenient locations:
- Dawn Legion Base: teleport to Dawn Legion Base and travel roughly 120 metres to the Monolith.
- Zumion Village: teleport to Zumion Village; the Monolith is roughly 75–80 metres from the teleport point.
You do not need to return to the exact location where you first unlocked the system. Both Verteron Monolith access points feed the same regional progression.
Altgard Monolith Location — Asmodian
Asmodians use the Altgard Monolith to resonate Empyrean Trace: Altgard.
- Safe Haven: approximately 150 metres from the Safe Haven teleport.
- Nornir Assembly: the faster option when already unlocked, approximately 35–40 metres from the teleport.
The Monolith system is introduced through the early regional story. If you reach the physical location before completing the relevant progression step, continue your Episode quests until the Monolith interaction becomes available.

Abyss Feathers use a separate progression track called the Ereshkigal Monolith.
| Faction | Abyss Base | Monolith |
|---|---|---|
| Elyos | Latesran Western Root | Ereshkigal Monolith near the faction base |
| Asmodian | Latesran Eastern Root | Ereshkigal Monolith near the faction base |
Do not take Reshanta Traces back to Verteron or Altgard. Empyrean Trace: Reshanta belongs to Ereshkigal progression.
If you have not unlocked the Abyss yet, see our AION 2 Abyss Guide.
Which Empyrean Trace Goes to Which Monolith?
| Trace | Use At | Faction |
|---|---|---|
| Empyrean Trace: Verteron | Verteron Monolith | Elyos |
| Empyrean Trace: Altgard | Altgard Monolith | Asmodian |
| Empyrean Trace: Reshanta | Ereshkigal Monolith | Both factions |
How Many Feathers Do You Need?
The Verteron and Altgard Monolith tracks require 560 resonance units for level 30. On the current Global home maps, each field pickup grants three corresponding Trace units, so approximately 187 pickups are enough to reach 560.
The maps contain far more possible Trace pickups than the minimum required for the main reward track. You therefore do not need to collect every single marker just to max your home-region Monolith.
The Ereshkigal Monolith is separate. Its full data track requires 300 Reshanta Traces for level 20, while the currently relevant Lower Reshanta map contains 200 pickup locations. Later Abyss content can extend that progression.

How to Use a Monolith
- Collect Empyrean Traces in the matching region.
- Travel to that region's Monolith.
- Interact with the Monolith.
- Select the resonance option.
- Apply the available matching Empyrean Traces.
- Claim or confirm the new resonance-level rewards.
Regional Traces are not interchangeable. Verteron, Altgard and Reshanta use different progression counters.
Can You Sync Monolith Progress to Alts?
Current Global Monolith progression includes a Sync Empyrean Traces option. This allows later characters on the same server to inherit relevant collected progression instead of repeating the entire collection route from zero.
Check the Monolith interface on the alt before beginning another full Feather route.
What About Eltnen and Morheim Monoliths?
The Global client contains additional Monolith records for later regions including Eltnen and Morheim. Client map data places an Eltnen Monolith around Lacephin Village and a Morheim Monolith around Kromede's Island.
However, do not confuse client records for later-region content with the main launch progression currently required by most players. For the standard Global route, Verteron or Altgard plus Ereshkigal are the important Monoliths to know first.
Monolith Not Working?
- Check that the Trace belongs to the same region as the Monolith.
- Complete the regional Episode quests that introduce Monolith resonance.
- For Ereshkigal, make sure the Abyss is unlocked.
- Do not search for the Asmodian Ereshkigal Monolith at the Elyos root, or vice versa.
- Check whether your alt can use Sync Empyrean Traces before collecting everything again.
