Need Help With Diablo 4 Progression?

Diablo 4 Season 15 does not have an officially confirmed release date yet. Blizzard has revealed a large part of patch 3.2.0 through the August PTR, including Rebirth, Challenge Dungeons, Soul Splinters, Overland Ambushes, legacy Uniques, Mythic crafting changes, new Charms and the Horadric Post. Blizzard also says the PTR intentionally does not show everything coming with Season 15 and that more details will be shared at BlizzCon.

This makes the difference between a confirmed system and a final release detail especially important. Rebirth is planned for Season 15, but it still resets a character to level 1. Challenge Dungeons are planned, but their PTR encounters will not be the live encounters. Soul Splinters are seasonal, but their final values and acquisition route remain unknown. The sections below separate those confirmed plans from test values, estimates and information Blizzard has not announced.

Diablo 4 Season 15 Release Date and Launch Status

Blizzard has not announced the Season 15 start date or global launch time. September 15, 2026 is the leading estimate because the in-game Season 14 Reliquary countdown points to a reset around that date, and it falls immediately after BlizzCon. It is still not an official Blizzard launch date, so players should wait for the dedicated Season 15 announcement before treating it as a fixed deadline.

Date or milestoneOfficial statusWhat it means for Season 15
June 30, 2026Season 14 began at 10:00 AM PDTThis is the current live season, not the Season 15 launch date
August 4 to August 11Patch 3.2.0 PTR test windowThe test is over and its values can still change before release
September 12 to September 13BlizzCon 2026Blizzard says more Season 15 information will be revealed at the event
September 15In-game estimate, not officially announcedThe Season 14 Reliquary countdown points toward this date, but Blizzard has not confirmed it
Final patch 3.2.0 notesNot publishedLive class values, fixes and complete release changes remain pending

The official Season of Death Awakening announcement confirms that Season 14 began on June 30 at 10:00 AM PDT. Blizzard often announces an exact date and time in the full seasonal reveal, but that article does not exist for Season 15 yet. The safe position is therefore simple: BlizzCon is the next confirmed information point, while September 15 remains an in-game-timer-based estimate rather than an announced launch date.

PTR 3.2.0 Status and Confirmed Season 15 Changes

The official patch 3.2.0 PTR overview calls the test a selection of updates and features for the next season and the base game. Blizzard also says player feedback will be used to adjust balance and remove bugs. A feature shown on PTR can therefore be planned for launch without its numbers, rewards or exact implementation being final.

FeatureConfirmed directionStill unconfirmed or subject to change
RebirthMove an Eternal character to the Seasonal Realm and reset it to level 1Any additional launch restrictions or interface changes after PTR feedback
Challenge DungeonsOverland portals lead to bosses, with higher selectable Torment tiers and stronger rewardsFinal encounters, boss roster, portal rules and reward pool
Overland AmbushA rare demon hunt gives the player 30 seconds to flee or fightSpawn frequency, rewards and final difficulty
Soul SplintersSeasonal jewelry socketables have five rarities and Horadric Cube upgradesNormal drop source, upgrade recipe, stacking rules and final values
Legacy UniquesNine returning items are permanent additions across all versions of Diablo 4Final affix values and the untested Messerschmidt's Reaver implementation
Mythics and CharmsMore deterministic Mythic crafting, Mythic Unique Charms and new Unique CharmsFinal costs, drop rates and balance
Class balanceEvery class received proposed changes in PTR build 73123All final live percentages and post-PTR revisions
Season themeBlizzard confirms that the PTR intentionally omits some Season 15 contentSeason name, theme, story, progression structure, rewards and other unrevealed details

The practical rule is to build around systems, not PTR percentages. Rebirth can shape character preparation now because its reset rules are clear. Soul Splinter penalties can shape early build theory, but not a final tier list. Challenge Dungeon footage can explain the portal and difficulty system, but it cannot confirm the live boss strategy because Blizzard explicitly plans different release content.

Rebirth: What Carries Over and What Resets

Rebirth converts an existing Eternal character into a Seasonal character and resets that hero to level 1. It is designed for players who want to continue using the same identity instead of creating another copy of the character every season. It does not preserve that character's level, build, equipped gear or personal inventory when the hero enters the Seasonal Realm.

What Rebirth keeps

The character keeps its class, name, appearance and Normal or Hardcore state. Rebirth also preserves selected cosmetic preferences, including transmogs, pigments, mounts and accessories, pets, portals and headstones. Blizzard will maintain a running total of hours played across all rebirths of that character.

  • Character identity: class, name and appearance remain unchanged.
  • Game state: a Normal character remains Normal and a Hardcore character remains Hardcore.
  • Cosmetic choices: selected transmogs, pigments, mounts, pets, portals and headstones carry over.
  • Playtime record: the character keeps a cumulative total across repeated rebirths.

Rebirth is therefore an identity shortcut, not a progression shortcut. It avoids recreating a familiar hero and reselecting cosmetic preferences, but the seasonal leveling and gearing process still begins from the start.

Safe Rebirth checklist

Blizzard requires the character to have no equipped items and nothing in personal inventory before Rebirth can proceed. Move every item worth keeping into the Eternal stash. The warning interface can offer to remove retained items or destroy them, so rushing through the final confirmation can permanently erase gear that should have remained on Eternal.

  1. Open the Eternal character. Confirm that this is the correct name, class and Normal or Hardcore state.
  2. Empty every equipment slot. Check weapons, armor, jewelry and any other equipped item category.
  3. Clear personal inventory. Move gear, Charms, consumables and any other carried items you want to keep into the Eternal stash.
  4. Review the warning. Do not choose destruction as a quick way to clear valuable items.
  5. Prepare for level 1. Save a leveling plan because the existing level and build do not survive the transfer.

Players who want to move the reborn hero through the fresh seasonal climb can use a Diablo 4 leveling route after Season 15 launches. This does not change the Rebirth rules: Eternal gear remains behind and the Seasonal character still enters the new economy at level 1.

Challenge Dungeons and Overland Ambushes

Challenge Dungeons create boss-focused encounters through portals that appear in the Overland. Overland Ambushes apply the opposite pressure by allowing a powerful demon to hunt the player during normal exploration. Both systems connect Overland exploration with optional high-pressure combat, but Blizzard has not published their final frequency or reward tables.

How Challenge Dungeon tiers work

Entering a Challenge Dungeon portal leads to a boss encounter. On Torment difficulty, the player can select a challenge up to three Torment tiers above the current difficulty. Higher settings increase the danger and promise stronger rewards, giving well-built characters a way to push beyond their normal world setting without changing every activity around them.

The correct preparation is general rather than boss-specific: reliable single-target damage, defense against sudden spikes, sustain and enough mobility to handle an unfamiliar arena. Players working on established dungeon progression before Season 15 can use Diablo 4 dungeon assistance, but PTR Challenge Dungeon clears should not be sold or described as a confirmed live route.

Why the PTR encounters will change

Blizzard directly states that the PTR encounters were created to test the underlying system and that the final Season 15 experience will contain different content. Videos from the test can demonstrate portals, selectable difficulty and the basic boss loop. They cannot confirm the release boss roster, exact mechanics, best counters or expected rewards.

Overland Ambushes also need cautious treatment. On rare occasions, a demon begins hunting the player and a 30-second warning provides time to flee or prepare for the fight. Blizzard calls the encounter difficult but does not provide a guaranteed reward, exact timer between hunts or repeatable farming route. Any guide promising a specific ambush drop or fixed spawn location is moving beyond the official information.

Soul Splinters and Season 15 Build Planning

Soul Splinters are the confirmed seasonal power shown in PTR 3.2.0. They socket into jewelry, provide elemental resistance, physical resistance or stats, and combine a strong benefit with a drawback. Blizzard lists Common, Magic, Rare, Legendary and Unique rarities and confirms that Splinters can be upgraded in the Horadric Cube.

How the eight PTR Splinters affect builds

The test included eight named Splinters. Anguish adds Critical Strike Chance and Attack Speed but raises Primary Resource costs. Sin increases Maximum Health while reducing Maximum Primary Resource. Lies improves farming rewards and Bonus Experience while leaving the character Weakened and Vulnerable. The Black Soulstone builds damage through collected souls but also increases damage taken.

  • Splinter of Pain: adds Damage Reduction but removes Movement Speed, making it more suitable for difficult boss attempts than fast farming.
  • Splinter of the Mother: grants Unhindered movement and applies Vulnerable through contact, but eventually stuns the character after enough enemy touches.
  • Splinter of Hellfire: provides a large damage multiplier while removing Critical Strike Chance, so it can disable crit-based triggers even when the main skill does not need crits.
  • Splinter of Damnation: raises Monster Power after killing Elite packs, but the official preview does not fully explain the reward benefit tied to that extra danger.

The penalty must be solved before the bonus is treated as an upgrade. A resource-hungry build can break under Anguish, a speed farmer can lose too much time with Pain and a conventional crit build can lose its engine with Hellfire. The dedicated Soul Splinters guide covers every published effect, but all displayed values remain PTR data until the live tooltips appear.

The PTR vendor could grant seasonal items for testing. That shortcut does not reveal the normal Season 15 acquisition route. Blizzard has not confirmed a seasonal activity, boss, reputation board, cache or general drop pool as the final source, and it has not published the Horadric Cube recipe cost. Farming recommendations should wait for the full reveal.

Legacy Uniques, Mythic Crafting and New Charms

Patch 3.2.0 also expands long-term itemization. Blizzard describes nine legacy Uniques as permanent additions available in all versions of Diablo 4, while the Mythic changes are designed to offer a more controlled route to one major build item. New Unique and Mythic Unique Charms expand the Talisman system without adding a guaranteed target farm.

Nine permanent legacy Uniques

The returning items draw from Diablo, Diablo II and Diablo III but are adapted to the current Diablo 4 item system. They are regular Uniques in power and utility, not a tier above Mythics. Blizzard can adjust their affixes to fit modern itemization even when the core idea resembles the older item.

  • All classes: Leoric's Crown, Nemesis Bracers, Stone of Jordan and Squirt's Blouse.
  • Barbarian, Druid and Spiritborn: Arioc's Needle.
  • Sorcerer, Necromancer and Warlock: Henri's Perquisition.
  • Other multi-class weapons: In-Geom is usable by Barbarian, Druid, Rogue, Necromancer, Paladin and Warlock; The Furnace and Messerschmidt's Reaver are usable by Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Paladin and Warlock.

Messerschmidt's Reaver is confirmed for Season 15 but was not available for PTR testing. The official preview also contains counting inconsistencies. It says there are nine legacy Uniques, then describes five all-class and five multi-class items, while the named list actually contains four all-class and five multi-class entries for a total of nine. A second summary later says eight of ten legacy Uniques receive Charm versions, but the PTR patch notes name only seven of the nine listed legacy Uniques as craftable into Unique Charms. The named item lists are therefore the safer reference than the summary counts.

Mythic crafting routes and Charm limits

The PTR's direct Horadric Cube conversion to Mythic is planned as a one-to-one transfer. A valid Unique keeps its existing affixes, Tempering and Masterworking when converted. The recipe cannot use an Unmodifiable item and is planned to cost more than the less deterministic alternatives. The resulting Mythic receives a Crafted tag, and only one Crafted-tag item can be equipped.

Jeweler Rune Crafting lets the player choose a slot and receive a random class-valid Mythic from that slot. The Blacksmith Mythic Cache can return a class-valid Mythic Unique or Iconic Mythic. Those methods do not apply the Crafted tag, so the one-item restriction does not prevent a character from equipping other Mythics obtained through different routes. All Iconic Mythics are also planned to receive easier standard Unique versions for transitional builds.

Mythic Unique Charms can appear when a Unique Charm drops at Mythic quality. Their normal properties roll at maximum value and their Unique property becomes stronger, but Blizzard says they cannot be crafted and have no specific target farm. Sixteen new Unique Charms are based on current Uniques. Separately, the PTR patch notes list seven legacy Uniques that can be made into Unique Charms: Arioc's Needle, Henri's Perquisition, In-Geom, Nemesis Bracers, Squirt's Blouse, Stone of Jordan and The Furnace. The Mythic Uniques 3.0 guide provides the wider itemization background, but Season 15 costs and drop odds remain unannounced.

Class Balance Changes in PTR 3.2.0

The PTR notes contain hundreds of changes across skills, class mechanics, Paragon, Aspects, Uniques and Talismans. These values belong to PTR build 73123 and should not be presented as the final Season 15 meta. The useful pre-release information is the direction of each class pass, not a permanent tier position.

  • Barbarian: the core-stat damage scalar was tested at 0.8 instead of 1.1. Madawc damage, Bleed bonuses and several Paragon multipliers were reduced, while selected utility effects received improvements.
  • Druid: the core-stat scalar increased from 1.25 to 1.625. Human Form, defensive shifting, several Uniques and companion or storm interactions also changed.
  • Necromancer: the core-stat scalar rose to 1.625 alongside changes to skills, minion interactions, items and build multipliers.
  • Paladin: the same 1.625 scalar increase appeared with a wider pass across skills, Aspects and class items.
  • Rogue: Combo Points, grenades and skills carrying multiple tags received important test changes intended to open more build interactions.
  • Sorcerer: the core-stat scalar increased to 1.625, while elemental variants, Enchantment scaling, Aspects and Uniques were rebalanced.
  • Spiritborn: Basic Skills gained damage, Swarm of Storms appeared as a new Paragon Board and several storm, swarm and Spirit Hall interactions changed.
  • Warlock: the test emphasized usability through cast-while-moving support, demon behavior improvements, targeting changes and broad skill buffs.

Do not dismantle a live build because one PTR number fell, and do not spend scarce materials because another number rose. Blizzard ran the test specifically to collect feedback and adjust the build. Once the final notes are available, a Diablo 4 build setup can be aligned with the live skill, gear, Paragon and Glyph values instead of an expired PTR snapshot.

Horadric Post and the Season 15 Details Still Missing

The Horadric Post is a one-way account inbox for rewards, supplies, messages and commemorative items. PTR participants received a test delivery so Blizzard could verify the feature before Season 15. It is not player mail, an auction system or a trading channel, and Blizzard has not announced its capacity, expiration rules or recurring delivery schedule.

The larger missing pieces are the actual Season 15 package. Blizzard said the limited PTR offering was intentional because it wanted to reveal more at BlizzCon. The official BlizzCon 2026 page confirms the September 12 to September 13 event dates, but the event calendar does not confirm when the season will launch.

  • Release information: official date, global launch time, end date and preload schedule.
  • Season identity: name, theme, story and any season-specific questline.
  • Progression structure: how the seasonal mechanic is unlocked, advanced and repeatedly farmed.
  • Challenge Dungeons: final bosses, portal rules, rewards, group scaling and difficulty values.
  • Soul Splinters: acquisition source, upgrade recipe, stacking restrictions and final live values.
  • Season rewards: Season Rank rewards, Reliquaries, cosmetics and any season-specific reward details.
  • Itemization: final Mythic costs, Charm drop rates and any post-PTR item changes.
  • Expansion access: which individual features require Lord of Hatred and which belong to the base game.

Datamines, in-client timers and creator forecasts can identify possibilities, but they do not replace an official launch article. Any update to this guide should preserve the same labels: announced by Blizzard, tested on PTR, observed by players or still unknown.

Best Diablo 4 Season 15 Launch Plan

The safest launch plan prepares for confirmed systems without committing to a guessed date or PTR-only meta. Rebirth requires stash organization now, while Soul Splinters, Challenge Dungeon counters and final builds should wait for live rules. This order protects valuable Eternal items and avoids wasting materials on test values.

PriorityRecommended actionReason
Before the revealChoose the Eternal character you may RebirthClass, identity and Hardcore state carry over, but progression does not
Before RebirthMove every equipped and carried item into the Eternal stashThe transfer cannot proceed with retained items and the destruction option can erase them
After final patch notesCompare live class changes with the PTR listBuild rankings based on build 73123 can become outdated before launch
Early levelingUse a stable starter until Soul Splinter drops and penalties are understoodA powerful bonus can still break resource, movement or critical interactions
Early endgameTest Challenge Dungeons near the normal Torment setting firstFinal encounters differ from PTR and can punish an unprepared build
Mythic progressionReserve the direct Cube upgrade for an item with excellent affixes and modificationsThe conversion keeps the item but applies the one-Crafted-item equip restriction
Rare CharmsTreat a specific Mythic Unique Charm as a long-term dropBlizzard confirms no crafting method and no dedicated target farm

Do not empty or destroy an Eternal character until the live Rebirth interface is available and the correct hero has been selected. Do not lock a launch build before the final 3.2.0 notes. The only urgent preparation is preserving items and understanding the reset; the rest becomes safer after Blizzard publishes the season reveal.

Diablo 4 Season 15 FAQ

These answers address the questions most likely to be confused while the PTR information is public but the full Season 15 announcement is still pending.

When does Diablo 4 Season 15 release?
Blizzard has not announced the official date or global launch time. September 15, 2026 is the leading estimate based on the Season 14 Reliquary countdown, but it is not a confirmed release date.

Does Rebirth keep gear and levels?
No. The character resets to level 1 and cannot keep equipped or personally carried items. Move valuable gear to the Eternal stash before confirming Rebirth.

What does Rebirth keep?
It keeps the class, name, appearance, Normal or Hardcore state, selected cosmetic preferences and cumulative hours played across rebirths.

Are Challenge Dungeons confirmed for Season 15?
The underlying portal, boss and selectable Torment difficulty system is planned for Season 15. Blizzard says the final encounters will differ from the PTR content.

Are Soul Splinters permanent?
Blizzard lists Soul Splinters as seasonal items for the Season 15 test. Their permanent status after the season has not been announced.

Are the nine legacy Uniques permanent?
Yes. Blizzard explicitly describes them as permanent additions available in all versions of Diablo 4. Messerschmidt's Reaver is planned for Season 15 but was not testable on PTR.

Are the PTR class changes final?
No. The published values belong to PTR build 73123 and can change after feedback. Wait for the final patch 3.2.0 notes before treating any percentage as live.

Can Mythic Unique Charms be crafted?
No. Blizzard says they have a low chance to appear when Unique Charms drop, with no crafting method and no specific target farm.

Conclusion

Diablo 4 Season 15 already has a substantial systems preview, but not a confirmed launch date or complete seasonal reveal. Rebirth will let an Eternal hero restart at level 1 while keeping identity and cosmetic choices. Challenge Dungeons will provide selectable boss difficulty, Soul Splinters will trade powerful jewelry bonuses for serious penalties, and Overland Ambushes will add rare open-world hunts. Permanent legacy Uniques, Mythic crafting changes, new Charms, class adjustments and the Horadric Post extend the update beyond the seasonal mechanic.

The correct preparation is to protect Eternal gear before Rebirth, wait for final patch notes before choosing a meta build and treat PTR bosses, rewards and numerical values as temporary. Blizzard has not yet announced the Season 15 name, full theme, story, progression structure, final Challenge Dungeon encounters, complete rewards or launch date, and it says more Season 15 details will be shared at BlizzCon. BlizzCon on September 12 to September 13 is the next confirmed reveal window, while September 15 remains an estimate based on the current in-game season countdown until Blizzard publishes the official launch details.
