GTA 6 features cars, motorcycles, boats, aircraft and other vehicles, but the most important change is not simply the size of the roster. Rockstar has rebuilt vehicle ownership and theft around scanning, security levels, key cloning, alarms, trackers, resale value, garages, personal vehicles, storage and police Heat.
Last updated: October 1, 2026. This guide deliberately separates vehicles officially named by Rockstar from vehicles visually identified by specialist databases. We do not label a car “confirmed by name” simply because its bodywork resembles a GTA Online model or a real-world vehicle.
Quick navigation: See our GTA 6 gameplay guide for the wider crime and police systems, or compare the bonus vehicles in our GTA 6 Standard vs Ultimate guide.

How Many Cars Are in GTA 6?
Rockstar has not published an official total number of GTA 6 cars or vehicles.
This is important because some current databases advertise totals approaching 300 vehicles. Those projects are useful visual catalogs, but their numbers include models identified by comparing vehicles in official trailers, screenshots and gameplay footage with previous GTA vehicles and real-world designs.
That is different from Rockstar explicitly publishing the model name.
We use three evidence levels:
| Evidence level | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Officially Named | Rockstar publishes the vehicle name directly in editions, screenshots or other official material. |
| Officially Shown | The vehicle clearly appears in official footage, but Rockstar has not provided its model name. |
| Community Identified | Specialists match an officially shown vehicle to a probable GTA model or real-world inspiration. |
This distinction prevents a fan identification from gradually turning into a fake “official” fact after being repeated across dozens of websites.
Officially Named GTA 6 Vehicles
The following vehicle names can currently be traced directly to Rockstar's GTA VI edition and media material.
| Vehicle | Type | Source / availability | What is confirmed |
|---|---|---|---|
| '95 Grotti Cheetah | Sports car | Ultimate Edition | Mid-1990s Grotti sports car with exclusive presentation/livery |
| Dinka Enduro | Motorcycle | Jason's Safehouse Vehicles / Ultimate | Army-fatigue styled motorcycle connected to Jason's safehouse |
| Crest Kayak | Kayak | Jason's Safehouse Vehicles / Ultimate | Named personal watercraft tied to Jason's safehouse |
| Vapid Ganado | Pickup | Ganado Retro Build / Ultimate | Jason's worn low-riding pickup receives an exclusive retro build |
| Shitzu Squalo | Powerboat | Ultimate Edition | Open-water boat with an explosives-oriented weapons crate |
| '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy | Off-road vehicle | Ultimate Edition | Off-road build supplied with Paradise Garage |
| '55 Vapid Stanier Sedan | Classic sedan | Vintage Vice City Pack | Classic sedan supplied with a private garage |
Rockstar's current media library can be checked directly on the official GTA VI screenshot page.

'95 Grotti Cheetah
The '95 Grotti Cheetah is currently one of the most prominent officially named cars in GTA VI.
Rockstar describes it as a signature mid-'90s Grotti sports car and connects its styling to Shore Drive. It comes with Ultimate Edition content and is described as appearing later in Jason and Lucia's story rather than necessarily being available immediately after starting the game.
What Rockstar has not published yet:
- official top speed;
- acceleration figure;
- handling rating;
- base-game purchase price;
- normal spawn locations;
- whether the same underlying model can be obtained without the Ultimate benefit.
We will not invent those values before the final game can be tested.
Jason's Safehouse Vehicles: Dinka Enduro, Crest Kayak and Ganado

Jason's safehouse creates one of the first confirmed examples of vehicles being tied to a character's living space.
The Ultimate Edition material explicitly identifies:
- Dinka Enduro – a military-styled motorcycle;
- Crest Kayak – a small human-powered watercraft;
- Vapid Ganado – Jason's existing pickup, enhanced through the Ganado Retro Build.
The Ganado is especially interesting because it demonstrates that GTA VI can treat a vehicle as part of a character's identity rather than merely a disposable car stolen from traffic.

Shitzu Squalo: GTA 6 Is Not Just About Cars
The vehicle system extends far beyond road traffic.
The Shitzu Squalo is an officially named Ultimate Edition watercraft intended for open-water use. Rockstar associates it with Washington Beach and equips the bonus with a weapons crate containing explosives.
Official GTA VI imagery has also shown other boats, a seaplane, conventional aircraft and helicopters.

'67 Vapid Dominator Buggy and Paradise Garage
The '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy is Rockstar's clearest officially named off-road vehicle so far.
It is associated with Mount Kalaga and comes with the Paradise Garage in Watson Bay.
That garage is more important than the vehicle itself for understanding GTA VI's systems because Rockstar says it includes:
- a weapon locker;
- vehicle storage;
- a stash area for stolen goods intended to be fenced.

'55 Vapid Stanier: Vintage Vice City Pack Car
The '55 Vapid Stanier Sedan belongs to the Vintage Vice City Pack rather than the core Ultimate-only vehicle set.
The bonus also includes a private garage at Shore Court near Ocean Beach. Like Paradise Garage, the property includes weapon storage and a place for stolen goods.
That distinction matters: the Stanier is tied to the promotional purchase window rather than being the reason to buy Ultimate.

GTA 6 Vehicle Theft Is Now a Progression System
One of the biggest confirmed changes is that you cannot necessarily steal every vehicle from the beginning of the game using the same method.
Rockstar North's Rob Nelson explained that GTA VI places vehicles into different practical security levels.
| Vehicle/security level | Possible requirement |
|---|---|
| Older / simpler vehicle | Basic lock-opening tool may be enough |
| Modern vehicle | More advanced security can require additional preparation |
| High-end vehicle | Electronic key-cloning device may be required |
| Premium / tracked vehicle | Alarm and advanced tracker can complicate theft and escape |
The electronic key cloner is obtained later in progression, meaning some desirable vehicles are deliberately inaccessible as easy early-game steals.
Breaking the Window Is No Longer Always the Smart Option
You can still use the classic GTA approach, but brute force now has consequences.
Breaking a window can activate the vehicle alarm. A high-end vehicle can also contain a tracker capable of transmitting its position after the theft.
That means the quickest method of entering a vehicle may create a more difficult escape.
You Can Scan Vehicles Before Stealing Them
GTA VI lets the player scan a vehicle and evaluate it before committing to the theft.
Rockstar says the scan can reveal information including:
- vehicle/model information;
- approximate value;
- the cost of registering it as your own vehicle;
- whether the car is worth stealing for resale.
This turns the act of car theft into an economic decision.
A random luxury car is no longer automatically “free money” if its security, tracker, condition or registration cost makes the operation inefficient.
Stolen Cars Can Be Tracked by Police
Vehicle theft also connects directly to GTA VI's new police system.
If the owner or another witness reports the crime, police can receive information about:
- the stolen vehicle;
- your appearance;
- your clothing;
- weapons you were carrying.
You then enter the broader Heat system rather than police magically knowing your exact location.
A tracked vehicle can become the weakest link in your escape. Even after direct pursuit ends, returning to a vehicle already associated with the crime can create new risk.
Car Owners Can Fight Back
Carjacking NPCs are also less predictable.
Instead of immediately dragging someone from the driver's seat, the player can order them out.
The driver may:
- comply;
- refuse;
- become aggressive;
- draw a weapon;
- fight back.
Escalating the encounter can then feed into the wider Crime Profile system.
Vehicle Damage Reduces Resale Value
If you steal a car to sell it, how you drive matters.
Rockstar says vehicle damage reduces the amount you can receive for the car.
This creates a direct economic reason not to destroy every stolen vehicle during the escape.
GTA VI also uses narrower, more realistically proportioned roads and denser traffic than previous entries, increasing the importance of actually driving well.
Selling Cars and the Pay & Spray Cooldown
Pay & Spray is part of GTA VI's vehicle economy rather than only an escape mechanic.
It can be used to:
- evaluate a stolen car;
- repair a vehicle;
- repaint it;
- help break a police description;
- register certain stolen vehicles as personal vehicles.
There is also a practical anti-farming restriction: after selling a vehicle through one Pay & Spray location, you cannot immediately bring another car to the same shop. If you want to continue selling quickly, another location may be required.
Stolen Vehicle vs Personal Vehicle
GTA VI makes a real distinction between a vehicle you temporarily stole and one you officially own.
| Temporary stolen vehicle | Personal vehicle |
|---|---|
| Displayed as a temporary/grey vehicle marker | Registered as owned |
| Can remain available for some time | Persistent ownership |
| Can disappear after restarting the game | Stored through the ownership/garage system |
| May still carry weapons in its trunk while retained | Can function as a persistent equipment store |
Rob Nelson compared the distinction loosely to Red Dead Redemption 2's owned horse versus a temporarily acquired horse.
How Many Cars Can You Own in GTA 6?
Rockstar says the player initially has storage for roughly three personal vehicles.
If those slots are full and you want to register another car, you need to make room.
The capacity can then be expanded by buying additional garages around Leonida.
This is already a major change from treating every stolen vehicle as disposable transport.
Your Car Is Also Part of the Weapon Inventory
Personal vehicles have another major purpose: their trunks can store weapons.
GTA VI no longer treats large rifles and other long guns as an invisible arsenal that follows the protagonist everywhere.
Weapons can instead be kept in:
- the trunk of your personal vehicle;
- the trunk of a temporary stolen car while you retain it;
- Ammu-Nation weapon lockers.
Your personal vehicle can also be delivered to your location, making it effectively a mobile equipment hub.
This is one of the clearest examples of cars becoming part of the core gameplay system rather than just transportation.
GTA 6 Car Customization
Vehicle customization is confirmed, but we do not yet have the complete modification catalog.
At the base-system level, Pay & Spray can repair and repaint vehicles. More elaborate work is handled by dedicated tuning shops.
The Ultimate Edition also introduces named customization content including Rideout Customs and One-Eyed Willie's Mod Shop.

Rideout Customs focuses on heavily styled builds with details such as interiors, wheels and larger rims, while One-Eyed Willie's is associated with hand-painted off-road customization.
Those specific Ultimate benefits should not be confused with the entire GTA VI customization system. Rockstar has confirmed broader tuning beyond these bonus shops.
Classic Car Collection Could Make Vehicle Hunting an Activity
Another particularly interesting Ultimate Edition feature is the Classic Car Collection.
Rockstar describes it as a special assignment from local mechanic and collector Wyman. Players search for abandoned classic vehicles and unfinished project cars around Leonida and restore them.
This is significant because it turns vehicle discovery itself into structured content rather than simply populating traffic with collectible-looking cars.
We will keep this activity on the main vehicle hub until post-launch search demand justifies a separate guide.
What Vehicle Types Have Been Shown in GTA 6?
Even without a final Rockstar vehicle list, official footage establishes a broad range of transport categories.
- sports and supercars;
- classic cars;
- sedans and coupes;
- pickup trucks;
- SUVs and off-road vehicles;
- police and emergency vehicles;
- commercial and utility vehicles;
- motorcycles;
- bicycles and small personal transport;
- speedboats and other motorboats;
- kayaks;
- seaplanes;
- fixed-wing aircraft;
- helicopters.
We will add the final vehicle classes after launch instead of imposing GTA V/GTA Online categories on GTA VI before Rockstar confirms how the new database is organized.
Are Real Car Brands in GTA 6?
Rockstar has not announced licensed real-world vehicle brands for GTA VI.
The vehicles it has officially named so far continue the fictional GTA manufacturer system with brands such as Grotti, Vapid, Dinka and Shitzu.
Community databases frequently list a probable real-world inspiration — Ferrari, Ford, Honda, Mitsubishi, Porsche and so on — but these comparisons should be labeled as visual interpretation rather than official manufacturer partnerships.
What About the 200–300 “Confirmed” GTA 6 Cars Online?
This is mainly a terminology problem.
Specialist vehicle databases perform impressive frame-by-frame identification work. They can often recognize a returning GTA Online model from its headlights, body panels or badge geometry.
That makes the identification useful, but it is still different from Rockstar publishing:
“This vehicle is Model X and will appear in the final GTA VI build.”
Our database therefore does not mix those evidence levels.
Can You Keep Any Car You Steal?
Not automatically.
A stolen car initially behaves as a temporary vehicle. Some cars can later be registered, but vehicle security, registration cost and progression requirements can affect the process.
Higher-end cars can also have trackers that need to be dealt with before they become practical long-term acquisitions.
Can You Sell Stolen Cars?
Yes. Vehicle theft and resale are confirmed methods of making money in GTA VI.
Several variables affect whether a theft is worthwhile:
- vehicle value;
- security level;
- tracker;
- alarm;
- condition after the escape;
- whether a buyer wants that vehicle;
- availability/cooldown of the relevant shop.
This gives the title “Grand Theft Auto” considerably more mechanical meaning than simply stealing whatever car is closest.
Can You Call Your Personal Car?
Yes. Rockstar says a personal vehicle can be delivered to the player.
The smartphone includes a Scooter Bros vehicle-delivery app, making your owned vehicle — and therefore the weapons stored inside it — accessible without returning to a garage every time.
Can You Lose a Personal Vehicle?
Rockstar has explained the difference between temporary stolen vehicles and registered cars, but has not yet fully detailed:
- vehicle destruction recovery;
- insurance;
- impound lots;
- replacement fees;
- what happens if a personal car is abandoned permanently.
Those systems remain unknown until Rockstar provides more detail or the final build can be tested.
GTA 6 Fastest Cars: Why We Are Not Ranking Them Yet
No reliable final performance dataset exists before launch.
A screenshot can confirm that a car exists. It cannot reliably establish:
- true top speed;
- 0–60 acceleration;
- lap time;
- braking distance;
- handling;
- off-road performance.
After release, our separate fastest-cars guide will use measured results rather than manufacturer stereotypes or GTA Online stats copied into GTA VI.
How This Page Will Become the GTA 6 Vehicle Database
After launch, every verified vehicle entry will be expandable with structured fields such as:
| Database field | What we will track |
|---|---|
| Name | Exact in-game model name |
| Manufacturer | Official GTA brand |
| Class | Final GTA VI vehicle category |
| Seats | Verified passenger capacity |
| Price | Official purchase / registration cost |
| Sell value | Verified resale range and conditions |
| Top speed | Measured under controlled conditions |
| Acceleration | Measured, not estimated from animation |
| Handling | Use-case tested |
| Location | Map spawn / purchase / unlock |
| Security | Lock, alarm and tracker requirements |
| Customization | Supported shops and modification types |
| Ownership | Whether and how it can be registered |
| Evidence | Official / verified in-game / community identification |
This lets the page grow into a useful reference instead of becoming obsolete the moment the game launches.
