Is GTA 6 Really $100?
No. The base GTA 6 game does not cost $100 in the US. The Standard Edition is $79.99. The $99.99 price belongs to the Ultimate Edition, which includes the base game plus the Ultimate Edition Upgrade.
This distinction matters because headlines and social posts often shorten the story to “GTA 6 costs $100.” That is not the entry price for Grand Theft Auto VI.

Is GTA 6 the Same Price on PS5 and Xbox?
Yes in the major regions we checked. Official PlayStation and Xbox storefronts currently match at $79.99/$99.99 in the US and €79.99/€99.99 in Germany, France and Spain.
The same pattern applies in the UK, Canada and Australia. This means platform choice currently does not create a meaningful base-price advantage between PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
How Much Is GTA 6 on PS5 Pro?
There is no separate GTA 6 PS5 Pro edition or additional PS5 Pro charge currently listed. PlayStation labels the PS5 version as PS5 Pro Enhanced, while keeping the same Standard and Ultimate prices.
So owning a PS5 Pro does not currently require purchasing a more expensive version of GTA 6.
How Much Is the Physical GTA 6 Version?
Rockstar currently lists the US physical Standard version at $79.99, matching the Standard digital MSRP.
However, GTA 6's physical release has an unusual detail: there is no game disc inside the box. The package contains a download code instead, allowing the game to be preloaded from November 12.

Is Digital GTA 6 Cheaper Than Physical?
Rockstar's current US list price does not show a base-price discount for the physical Standard edition versus digital Standard.
The real difference is therefore format rather than game content: digital delivery versus a physical box containing a download code.
If a retailer later offers a discount, that should be treated as a store-specific deal rather than a permanent GTA 6 MSRP change.
How Much Is the GTA 6 Collector's Edition?
This is where one of the biggest current price misunderstandings comes from.
Rockstar has not announced a $399.99 Collector's Edition of the actual GTA 6 game. The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection is a separate premium merchandise box.
It contains physical collectibles and merchandise, but Grand Theft Auto VI is sold separately.

Why Does GTA 6 Cost $79.99 Instead of $69.99?
Rockstar and Take-Two have confirmed the $79.99 price, but they have not published a detailed cost formula explaining why the Standard Edition is priced exactly $10 above the common $69.99 premium-game tier.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has discussed pricing in terms of consumer value and said the company believed it had significant pricing power while still wanting consumers to feel they received more value than they paid for.
Claims that GTA 6 costs $80 because of a specific development budget, a particular number of gameplay hours or guaranteed future content should therefore be treated as analysis unless Take-Two provides that data directly.
Is GTA 6 Too Expensive?
That is ultimately a personal value judgment rather than a factual question. What can be measured is the actual purchase structure:
- $79.99 buys the Standard base game in the US.
- $20 more adds the Ultimate Upgrade.
- Standard can be upgraded later.
- No early access is currently attached to the more expensive edition.
