Netherwing Eggs are the repeatable acceleration method for the Netherwing reputation grind. Daily quests provide predictable progress, but every egg found after the first unlock is worth another 250 reputation without a daily limit. Efficient farming therefore depends on checking several spawn environments while continuing to kill and gather, not waiting beside one empty location.
Netherwing arrives with TBC Anniversary Phase 3 on August 27, 2026. Blizzard's official Phase 3 announcement confirms that Netherwing Eggs accelerate reputation progress on Netherwing Ledge. This guide covers every valid Anniversary source, representative spawn coordinates, profession advantages, and a complete route through the ledge, mines, floating islands, and Dragonmaw Fortress.
Requirements Before Farming Netherwing Eggs
| Requirement | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Level 70 | Required for the Netherwing introduction and reputation hub |
| Neutral with Netherwing | Reached by completing the Mordenai questline through Ally of the Netherwing |
| Artisan Riding, skill 300 | Required to continue beyond Neutral and interact with the main Netherwing Ledge progression |
| Blood Oath and camp introduction | Unlocks the Dragonmaw disguise, daily hub, and egg quests |
| The Great Netherwing Egg Hunt | The first turn-in unlocks the repeatable Accepting All Eggs quest |
Do not begin a dedicated route merely because an egg coordinate appears on a map. Finish the Neutral unlock, train Artisan Riding, complete Blood Oath of the Netherwing, and accept The Great Netherwing Egg Hunt first. The initial egg grants 350 reputation; later eggs award 250 each through Accepting All Eggs. Players who still need the complete setup can compare the available Netherwing reputation routes by their current rank instead of treating egg farming as a substitute for the unlock chain.
A single stack holds 20 eggs, which represents 5,000 reputation when submitted through the repeatable quest. Four repeat turn-ins equal 1,000 reputation. Eggs bind when picked up, so they cannot be mailed, traded, or purchased from another player.
Every Netherwing Egg Source
| Source | Where it works | How to use it efficiently |
|---|---|---|
| Ground egg objects | Netherwing Ledge, floating crystal islands, Netherwing Mines, and Dragonmaw Fortress | Check fixed possible locations while moving through a continuous circuit |
| Creature loot | Eligible enemies on Netherwing Ledge, inside the mines, and at Dragonmaw Fortress | Farm dense packs and loot every corpse instead of killing only enemies standing beside known spawns |
| Nethercite Deposit | Surface and mine nodes connected to Netherwing Ledge | Requires Mining; the egg chance is approximately 4 percent per eligible deposit |
| Netherdust Bush | Surface areas of Netherwing Ledge | Requires Herbalism; the egg chance is approximately 2 percent per eligible bush |
| Sludge-Covered Object | Dropped by Black Blood of Draenor inside the mines | Open every object because it can rarely contain an egg in addition to mine quest items |
Skinning does not add a separate egg roll when a corpse is skinned. A Skinner still benefits from killing Nethermine Flayers for the profession daily and can receive an egg from ordinary corpse loot, but the hide collection itself is not equivalent to mining a Nethercite Deposit or gathering a Netherdust Bush.
Netherspite in Karazhan is not a valid TBC Anniversary egg source. Netherwing Eggs were added to that boss in a much later expansion, so a Phase 3 farming plan should not spend a Karazhan lockout or raid time expecting them.

How Ground Egg Spawns Behave
Ground eggs use a set of possible spawn locations, but all points are not occupied simultaneously. When one player loots an egg, another point from the shared pool can become active later. No officially guaranteed respawn timer exists for an individual coordinate, and observed times vary with the active pool and other players collecting eggs.
- Egg objects emit a vertical purple or violet haze that can be easier to notice than the shell itself.
- They can sit behind crystals, inside mine carts, beside boxes, on scaffolding, in towers, and against cave walls.
- A character cannot open the world object while in combat.
- Ordinary treasure tracking does not reveal egg objects.
- Coordinate addons record possible positions, not confirmation that an egg is currently present.
- Normal group-loot rules can apply when an uncommon egg enters the loot system, so agree on distribution before farming as a party.
Constant movement is more productive than guarding one waypoint. A missed egg in a mine cart or behind a crystal is more likely than a supposedly fixed spawn appearing immediately in front of a stationary player.
Netherwing Ledge Surface Locations

The surface has three useful search environments: Dragonmaw Base Camp, the ridges and crystal formations around the main ledge, and the smaller floating islands. The camp is fast to inspect but heavily traveled. High ridges, cliff shelves, and isolated crystal rocks take longer to reach and are therefore more likely to survive a busy sweep.
| Surface cluster | Representative coordinates | Objects to inspect |
|---|---|---|
| Base Camp and racers | 64.0, 86.1; 65.5, 84.8; 67.4, 86.2; 69.3, 86.5 | Crystals, camp structures, racer area, boxes, and ledge edges |
| Western and northern ledge | 62.8, 74.8; 63.5, 82.9; 66.0, 80.6; 68.3, 79.4 | Large crystal bases, raised ground, and the approach to the mine |
| Central high ground | 68.1, 81.8; 69.8, 82.1; 71.0, 81.5; 72.8, 82.2 | Hilltops, narrow shelves, crystal clusters, and paths above the camp |
| Eastern cliffs | 74.2, 82.4; 75.2, 82.4; 77.4, 85.8; 78.9, 83.4; 79.5, 88.0 | Cliff recesses, mountain tops, side ledges, and isolated crystals |
| Southern floating islands | 65.7, 94.0; 68.1, 94.7; 73.4, 90.3; 75.8, 91.6; 77.3, 95.4 | Small islands with crystal formations and the edges facing the main ledge |
Coordinates are reference points rather than a requirement to fly through every decimal. Approach each cluster from above, look for purple haze, and spiral around large crystals before landing. On a crowded realm, prioritize vertical locations and outlying islands because most players follow a flat circle around the camp.
Netherwing Mines Locations
The mines offer the best combined method when competition is manageable. Ground objects can appear along the entrance, mine carts, waterwheel, bridges, ramps, flayer tunnels, ravager chambers, and the deeper area occupied by Black Blood of Draenor. The same circuit supplies dense creature kills, Sludge-Covered Objects, Netherwing Crystals, profession objectives, and gathering nodes.
| Mine section | Representative coordinates | Search priority |
|---|---|---|
| Entrances and crates | 64.2, 86.8; 64.6, 87.3; 68.0, 85.0 | Check behind boxes, beside the tunnel walls, and near the first carts |
| Waterwheel and upper tunnels | 66.9, 82.0; 68.0, 82.4; 71.1, 80.9 | Clear Flayers and Ravagers while checking wall recesses |
| Bridge and central chamber | 71.0, 84.0; 72.3, 86.4; 73.2, 84.3 | Inspect the bridge, railings, mine carts, and both sides of the chamber |
| Lower ramps | 69.1, 88.3; 72.6, 88.6; 73.4, 87.1 | Look along the base of ramps and around the lower-level walls |
| Crazed miners and back coves | 74.3, 87.2; 74.6, 88.4; 75.2, 86.5 | Check side caves and carts before turning back toward the exit |
Do not run through the mine looking only for visible eggs. Kill dense packs as you move, particularly Flayers and Ravagers, and loot every corpse. Open Sludge-Covered Objects from Black Blood of Draenor before leaving the lower section. A clean empty mine still produces chances through combat and profession nodes.
Dragonmaw Fortress Locations
Dragonmaw Fortress is on the Shadowmoon Valley mainland northwest of Netherwing Ledge. It has fewer convenient points than the mine but often receives less attention because it is separated from the main daily hub. Eggs can appear inside large rooms, near wagons, on upper floors, along ramparts, and in watchtowers guarded by Dragonmaw riders.
| Fortress point | Representative coordinate | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
| Western wagon | 67.2, 61.4 | Beside and behind the wagon inside the compound |
| Northern tower | 68.1, 59.7 | Upper tower level near the Dragonmaw rider |
| Central building | 69.4, 63.8 | Roof, upper room, and wall edges |
| Zuluhed building | 70.9, 62.6 | Upper interior level and nearby rampart |
Land above the objective, check whether guards block the egg, and leave combat before attempting to loot it. Fortress enemies also provide ordinary egg-drop chances, but scattered packs make sustained mob farming less efficient than the Netherwing Mines. Use the fortress primarily as an uncontested spawn check between island sweeps.
Fast Netherwing Egg Farming Route
This route combines the highest-density mine circuit with less-traveled surface and fortress checks. A complete loop is better than repeating only the camp because it gives the shared spawn pool time to move and keeps creature and profession chances active.
- Start at Dragonmaw Base Camp around 66, 86 and inspect the racer area, camp structures, nearby boxes, and large crystals.
- Fly west and north across the central high ground, checking the crystal clusters between approximately 63, 83 and 72, 82.
- Enter the Netherwing Mines near 64, 87 and clear the upper Flayer and Ravager tunnels.
- Follow the waterwheel and bridge route through the central chamber, inspecting every cart and side recess.
- Drop to the lower ramps, kill Black Blood of Draenor, open every Sludge-Covered Object, and gather eligible nodes.
- Sweep the crazed-miner section and back coves, then leave through the most direct available tunnel.
- Mount and travel clockwise across the southern floating islands, checking the crystal rocks between roughly 66, 94 and 77, 95.
- Continue north along the eastern cliffs and hilltops through the 74 to 79 coordinate band.
- Fly to Dragonmaw Fortress and inspect the wagon, towers, upper buildings, and ramparts.
- Return to the northern side of Netherwing Ledge, check outlying crystals, and re-enter the mine only after completing the surface circuit.
One loop does not guarantee an egg. Measure the route by how many active sources it touches: world objects, corpses, Nethercite deposits, Netherdust bushes, and sludge containers. If another player remains one room ahead through the entire mine, switch to the floating islands and fortress instead of following an empty trail.
Best Route by Profession
| Profession setup | Recommended emphasis | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Mining | Full mine clear plus surface crystal circuit | Nethercite deposits add an approximately 4 percent egg chance while supporting the Mining daily |
| Herbalism | Wide surface loop, floating islands, then one mine pass | Netherdust bushes are concentrated on the surface and add an approximately 2 percent chance |
| Skinning | Dense Flayer and Ravager kill loop inside the mines | Eggs come from corpse loot rather than skinning, while hides add value to the same kills |
| No gathering profession | Mine mob density, ground objects, and fortress checks | Maximizes the two sources available to every character |
Mining has the strongest direct profession bonus because Nethercite deposits show the higher recorded egg chance. Herbalism remains useful when surface competition is low. Skinning improves the material value of a creature-heavy route but should not be advertised as an independent egg source.
Combining Eggs with Netherwing Dailies
The most efficient routine begins by accepting every available daily. Mine objectives overlap with creature kills, cargo, crystals, hides, ore, pollen, and egg searches. Surface quests naturally pass through the camp and transporter areas, while A Slow Death creates an opportunity to include the mainland fortress check.
- Accept all camp, mine, profession, and rank-specific dailies.
- Complete the mine circuit before turning in Netherwing Crystals or profession materials.
- Finish the camp and surface objectives while checking nearby crystal clusters.
- Use the mainland trip to inspect Dragonmaw Fortress.
- Turn in guaranteed dailies first, then submit every collected egg.
- Begin dedicated egg loops only if more playtime remains after predictable reputation is secured.
Players who need help maintaining the complete hub rotation can compare the available TBC daily quest options. Egg farming itself remains variable because world spawns, gathering nodes, mob drops, and competition cannot produce a fixed guaranteed quantity.
Farming During High Competition
Launch-week traffic changes the best route. A surface path that works before peak hours may be empty when several players fly the same direction. Respond to visible competition instead of increasing speed along an already cleared circuit.
- Reverse the common clockwise route and approach crystal islands from the eastern side.
- Check vertical positions, upper fortress rooms, mine carts, and side coves that are easy to miss.
- Switch from visible-object hunting to dense mob kills when the mine floor has no eggs.
- Use Mining or Herbalism tracking for profession nodes, but continue visually scanning for purple egg haze.
- Farm during quieter realm hours when possible rather than assuming a particular respawn timer.
- Leave a route when another player remains directly ahead for several consecutive clusters.
If the goal is the Exalted mount rather than the farming activity itself, do not let contested eggs replace guaranteed progress. Complete all unlocked dailies before committing the remaining playtime to optional egg circuits.
Netherwing Egg Reputation Math
| Egg quantity | Repeatable reputation | Practical impact |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 250 | Small bonus or enough to cross a nearby rank threshold |
| 4 | 1,000 | Equivalent to the full Neutral daily total with an eligible gathering profession |
| 10 | 2,500 | Comparable to most of a late-rank daily circuit |
| 20 | 5,000 | One full inventory stack and a substantial reduction in remaining resets |
| 168 total | 42,100 including the 350-point first egg | Enough to cover Neutral to Exalted without counting any other reputation |
The 168-egg calculation combines the 350 reputation from The Great Netherwing Egg Hunt with 167 repeatable turn-ins worth 250 each. It produces 42,100 reputation, slightly more than the 42,000 required from Neutral to Exalted. This is not the efficient recommendation because rank quests and dailies already supply large amounts of reputation. Use eggs to reach the next rank before a reset, shorten the Revered-to-Exalted stage, or add progress after finishing the guaranteed route.
Common Netherwing Egg Farming Mistakes
- Starting the route before unlocking The Great Netherwing Egg Hunt and Artisan Riding.
- Waiting beside one coordinate as though every spawn had an independent fixed timer.
- Flying only around Dragonmaw Base Camp and ignoring the mine, floating islands, and fortress.
- Running past creatures even though eligible enemies can drop eggs.
- Leaving Sludge-Covered Objects unopened after killing Black Blood of Draenor.
- Assuming Skinning itself provides the same egg roll as Mining or Herbalism.
- Searching for eggs through treasure tracking instead of watching for purple haze.
- Trying to open a ground egg while still in combat.
- Expecting Netherspite to drop eggs in TBC Anniversary.
- Skipping guaranteed daily reputation to follow a heavily contested route for hours.
Final Fast Farming Checklist
- Reach Neutral, train Artisan Riding, and unlock repeatable egg turn-ins.
- Empty enough bag space and accept every available Netherwing daily.
- Inspect Base Camp and the central crystal clusters.
- Clear the full mine route while looting corpses, objects, and profession nodes.
- Sweep the southern floating islands and eastern high ground.
- Check Dragonmaw Fortress towers, rooms, wagon, and ramparts.
- Change direction or source type when another player controls the same circuit.
- Finish dailies and turn in eggs before deciding whether another full loop is worthwhile.
The fastest Netherwing Egg route is adaptive. Use the mines for density, the surface for profession nodes and broad visibility, the floating islands for overlooked spawns, and Dragonmaw Fortress as the low-traffic extension. Keep moving, loot everything, and let eggs accelerate the daily reputation plan instead of turning one rare spawn into the entire plan.
