Valorant Corrode Map Guide: Callouts, Agents & Strategy

Valorant Corrode Map Guide: Callouts, Agents & Strategy

Corrode is a two-site, three-lane VALORANT map built around Mid control, layered elevation and disciplined angle clearing. Unlike Bind, Summit or other maps with major interactive mechanics, Corrode has no special gimmick. The map is difficult because A, Mid and B contain multiple levels, links and defensive fallback positions that punish teams that enter without clearing space properly.

Corrode returned to the Competitive map pool in Patch 13.08. Riot also significantly changed the map by shortening Defender rotations, rebuilding parts of Mid and adjusting the A Site plant zone. If you learned Corrode around its original release, several important timings and post-plant assumptions are now different.

Is Corrode in the Current Valorant Map Pool?

Yes. Corrode is currently part of the Competitive map rotation together with Abyss, Bind, Haven, Lotus, Summit and Sunset.

It returned in Patch 13.08 when Riot rotated Corrode and Bind in while removing Ascent and Split.

For the complete live rotation, see our current VALORANT map pool guide.

Corrode Map Layout Explained

Corrode follows a classic three-lane structure:

  • A lane: A Lobby → A Main / A Yard → A Site;
  • Mid: Mid Bottom → Mid Stairs → Mid Top / Mid Window;
  • B lane: B Lobby → B Main → B Site.

A Link and B Link connect Mid to the sites, which makes Mid the strategic hinge of the map.

An attacking team that controls Mid can threaten:

  • A through A Link;
  • B through B Link;
  • fast rotations back toward either Main lane;
  • split executes that force defenders to watch two directions.

Defenders therefore cannot simply give Mid away every round without eventually becoming predictable.

Why Mid Control Is So Important on Corrode

Mid is the most important neutral area because it connects both sites and provides multiple elevations.

Attackers who gain Mid can force defenders to answer several threats simultaneously. A defender holding A Main cannot know whether the final hit will arrive through A Main alone or become an A Main + A Link split.

The same applies to B through B Link.

However, attacking Mid without utility is dangerous. Mid contains long sightlines, elevation changes and several positions that can punish a team funneling through the same choke.

What Changed on Corrode in Patch 13.08?

Patch 13.08 made several important changes.

Defender Rotations Became Faster

Riot shortened the paths from Defender Spawn into the back of both A and B Sites.

This means attackers have less time than before to exploit a completely empty site after forcing a rotation. Retakes can also arrive sooner.

Mid Stairs Became Safer for Attackers

The half wall around Mid Stairs was changed to metal and moved approximately one meter.

The goal was to reduce repetitive wall spam and give attackers another route toward A Link without being automatically exposed from Mid Top.

Mid Bottom Cover Changed

The boxes near Mid Bottom were moved toward the B Lobby side and received a jump-up.

Riot also raised the nearby wall so the relocated boxes could not create an unintended elevated peek.

A Site Post-Plant Changed

The A Site plant zone was adjusted specifically to make post-plant positions from A Link less powerful.

Old lineups and plants designed entirely around A Link should therefore be rechecked rather than copied from early Corrode guides.

How to Attack Corrode

The strongest attacking rounds usually create pressure in more than one lane before committing.

Do Not Default Five Players Through Main

Five-player A Main or B Main rushes can work, but repeated single-choke attacks allow defenders to stack utility and fight predictable angles.

A stronger default is often:

  • one or two players contesting Main;
  • two players pressuring Mid;
  • one player holding the opposite lane or watching aggression.

This keeps both Links available and makes rotations harder to read.

Take Mid With Utility

Use recon, flashes, stuns or other clearing utility before committing several players through Mid Bottom and Stairs.

Your objective is not always to kill the Mid defender immediately. Taking enough space to threaten A Link or B Link already changes the defensive setup.

Use Split Executes

Corrode rewards attacks that hit a site from two directions.

For example, an A execute can combine A Main pressure with players coming through Mid toward A Link.

A B execute can similarly combine B Main with B Link.

These splits force site anchors to reposition their crosshairs and utility instead of holding one entrance.

How to Attack A Site

A Site contains several defensive layers around A Main, Yard, Pocket, Elbow and the back-site routes.

Before committing:

  • clear close A Main positions;
  • use utility on A Pocket and deeper site angles;
  • check A Elbow rather than assuming the site is clear;
  • coordinate A Link timing if Mid is controlled;
  • expect faster defensive rotations after Patch 13.08.

Do not automatically use an old plant designed for an A Link post-plant. The plant zone was specifically changed to reduce the strength of that setup.

How to Attack B Site

B attacks revolve around B Main, Tower, Arch, Elbow and B Link.

B Tower gives defenders an elevated position that should be cleared or isolated before the Spike planter becomes exposed.

Recon or clearing utility is especially valuable because defenders can play several different heights instead of standing on one flat plane.

If your team controls Mid, a B Main + B Link split is generally harder to defend than sending all five players through B Main.

How to Defend Corrode

Defenders should contest information without donating early deaths.

Do Not Give Mid for Free Every Round

You do not need to fight Mid to the death, but attackers should not be allowed to walk into both Links without spending utility.

Useful defensive options include:

  • early recon into Mid;
  • Sentinel utility watching Link routes;
  • an Operator or rifle holding a long Mid angle;
  • temporary aggression followed by a safe fallback.

Preserve Your Site Anchor

Corrode sites have enough depth for defenders to retreat instead of dying at the first choke.

If the entry utility is overwhelming, giving up the front of the site and playing for retake can be stronger than taking an isolated 1v3.

This became more viable after Riot shortened defender retake paths in Patch 13.08.

Watch the Links

Once attackers have Mid, defenders must communicate immediately.

A player seeing nothing at A Main does not mean A is safe if attackers can already be approaching through A Link.

Best Agents for Corrode

Corrode rewards Agents who can control long lanes, clear layered corners and punish rotations.

RoleStrong picksWhy they work
DuelistNeon, Jett, YoruFast space creation, vertical access and pressure across multiple lanes
ControllerClove, Omen, BrimstoneReliable site isolation and Mid/Link control
InitiatorSova, FadeRecon and clearing tools for layered Mid and site corners
SentinelVyse, Cypher, VetoStrong lane control, flank information and site anchoring

For overall current Agent strength outside this map, see our VALORANT Agent Tier List.

Best Duelists on Corrode

Neon

Neon's speed is useful for crossing exposed lanes, taking space through Main and rapidly converting information into a site hit.

She is particularly effective when an Initiator clears the first dangerous positions before she commits.

Jett

Jett remains valuable for long sightlines and elevated positions. Dash gives her an escape after aggressive Operator or rifle peeks.

Yoru

Corrode's three-lane layout gives Yoru room to manipulate rotations and create pressure on one side before repositioning elsewhere.

Best Controllers on Corrode

Clove

Clove is a strong Ranked Controller because their smokes are flexible enough for both site executes and fast rotations.

Omen

Omen can isolate Tower, Arch, Yard or deeper defensive angles and use Shrouded Step to exploit vertical positions.

Brimstone

Brimstone is especially effective for committed site executes where several defensive sightlines must be removed at the same time.

Best Initiators on Corrode

Sova

Corrode's long lanes and structured site geometry create useful Recon Bolt and Owl Drone opportunities.

Drone is particularly valuable when your team wants to clear Mid or a layered site without sending the first player into every possible angle.

Fade

Fade's Prowlers are effective for clearing tight positions such as Elbow-style corners, while Haunt can reveal defenders across larger site areas.

Best Sentinels on Corrode

Vyse

Vyse can make Main entrances expensive to cross and is currently one of the strongest statistical Ranked picks on Corrode.

Cypher

Cypher benefits from three-lane maps because his information can cover flank routes and allow teammates to rotate without permanently watching every Link.

Veto

Veto's defensive toolkit can punish utility-heavy executes and currently performs well in Ranked data on Corrode.

Example Corrode Team Composition

A balanced Ranked composition can look like:

Neon / Clove / Sova / Fade / Vyse

This gives the team:

  • one fast entry;
  • reliable smokes;
  • two layers of information and clearing utility;
  • a strong site anchor and flank-control option.

You do not need to copy this composition exactly. A player who is excellent on Cypher, Jett or Omen is usually more useful than someone first-timing an Agent simply because a tier list says it is optimal.

Best Weapons on Corrode

Corrode contains both long sightlines and tight site interiors.

Vandal is a strong general choice because it retains one-shot head damage across every distance.

Phantom remains excellent around closer Main, Link and site fights.

Warden can exploit long angles because of its 2x scope and high per-shot damage.

Operator can be powerful around long Mid and Main sightlines but requires an escape plan because Corrode provides several ways to pressure a static angle.

See our VALORANT Weapons Guide for current weapon damage and prices.

Corrode FAQ

How many sites does Corrode have?

Two: A and B.

Does Corrode have a special map mechanic?

No. Corrode uses a traditional three-lane structure without teleporters, rotating doors or another defining interactive mechanic.

Is Corrode currently in Ranked?

Yes. Corrode returned to the Competitive rotation in Patch 13.08.

What is the most important area on Corrode?

Mid is usually the strategic priority because it provides routes toward both A Link and B Link.

What are the best Agents for Corrode?

Strong current options include Neon, Clove, Sova, Fade, Vyse, Cypher and Veto. The best choice still depends on team composition and player proficiency.

Was Corrode changed recently?

Yes. Patch 13.08 shortened Defender rotations, changed Mid Stairs and Mid Bottom and adjusted the A Site plant zone.

Final Corrode Strategy

The simplest way to understand Corrode is: control Mid, force defenders to respect both Links and avoid entering layered sites through a single predictable choke.

On defense, do the opposite. Make Mid expensive, preserve your site anchors and use the shorter Patch 13.08 rotation paths to build coordinated retakes instead of taking isolated fights.
