LoL Classic Best Runes: Rune Pages for Every Role and Champion

LoL Classic Best Runes: Rune Pages for Every Role and Champion

The best runes in League of Legends Classic depend on your champion's damage type, role and lane matchup. Attack Damage Marks, Armor Seals and Magic Resist Glyphs provide a reliable foundation for many physical carries, while mages usually prefer Magic Penetration Marks and Ability Power Quintessences. Junglers often need Attack Speed or Movement Speed, and supports must balance defensive statistics against additional gold income. This LoL Classic Best Runes guide provides complete 30-slot rune pages for Top, Jungle, Mid, ADC and Support, including champion-specific presets and practical alternatives against difficult opponents. The recommendations use Classic's confirmed rune catalogue and the changes introduced through Patch 26.17, checked against Riot's Patch 26.21 notes. They are editorial starting configurations, not statistically proven universal builds.

Short answer: For physical carries, start with Attack Damage Marks, Armor Seals, Magic Resist Glyphs and Attack Damage Quintessences. Mages generally prefer Magic Penetration Marks and Ability Power Quintessences, while junglers and supports should choose their remaining runes according to clearing, mobility, survivability or income needs.

How to Use These LoL Classic Rune Page Presets

League Classic uses the legacy Rune Page system instead of modern keystones such as Conqueror or Electrocute. Each complete page contains exactly 30 rune slots: nine Marks, nine Seals, nine Glyphs and three Quintessences. Every preset below fills all 30 slots and uses rune types available in Classic. You can save multiple configurations and select the appropriate Rune Page during champion selection.

The tables use shortened rune names for readability. For example, "Attack Damage" in the Marks column means Mark of Attack Damage, while "Attack Damage" in the Quintessences column means Quintessence of Attack Damage. "Minor Armor" refers to Minor Mark of Armor when it appears under Marks. The numbers in each column heading indicate how many runes of that category must be equipped.

  • Marks (9): Usually supply Attack Damage, Attack Speed, Magic Penetration or another offensive statistic.
  • Seals (9): Commonly provide Armor, Health, scaling defenses or resource regeneration.
  • Glyphs (9): Frequently provide Magic Resist, Ability Power or Cooldown Reduction.
  • Quintessences (3): Supply larger bonuses such as Attack Damage, Ability Power, Movement Speed, Health or Gold generation.

Runes and Masteries are separate preparation systems. A 21/9/0 mastery allocation does not determine which runes belong in your page, and a correct Rune Page does not replace the need to select appropriate Masteries. For the full rune catalogue, individual stat values, mastery trees, unlock requirements and purchasing rules, see the League Classic Runes and Masteries Guide. The presets here concentrate on actual champion selection rather than repeating that reference.

Best LoL Classic Top Lane Runes

Top lane requires a balance between trading power and surviving repeated exchanges. Physical fighters usually benefit from Attack Damage or Attack Speed Marks, while Armor Seals protect against basic attacks and physical abilities. Magic Resist Glyphs become more important against champions with threatening magic damage. The optimal Quintessences depend on whether your champion needs additional damage, movement to reach an opponent or sustain during extended trades.

Physical Fighters: Fiora, Irelia, Garen and Jax

Fiora and Irelia can use similar offensive pages because their historical kits reward strong physical trading and consistent early damage. Nine Attack Damage Marks and three Attack Damage Quintessences provide a combined 15.75 Attack Damage before other bonuses. This improves basic attacks and damage patterns that scale with AD, while Armor Seals help them survive against physical lane opponents.

Fiora's preset uses Scaling Magic Resist Glyphs because it assumes her early matchup is manageable without maximum flat Magic Resist. If the opposing top laner threatens significant magic burst before she gains levels, replace those Glyphs with flat Magic Resist. Irelia's default already uses flat resistance, giving her a more conservative starting point.

Garen and Jax have different reasons to consider Movement Speed Quintessences. Garen needs to reach targets to complete favorable exchanges, while Jax can use movement to position for Leap Strike and extended fights. Jax also benefits from Attack Speed Marks because repeated attacks are an important part of his damage pattern. Neither movement-focused page is mandatory: Attack Damage Quintessences on Garen or Attack Speed Quintessences on Jax are alternatives when immediate offensive power matters more than target access.

Aatrox and AP Kennen: Rune Pages Built Around Different Kits

Original Aatrox uses health-cost abilities and sustained melee combat. Attack Damage Marks support his physical damage, Armor and Magic Resist provide a conventional defensive foundation, and Health Regeneration Quintessences help compensate for repeated health expenditure and lane attrition. The Health Regeneration Quintessence was buffed in Patch 26.17 to provide three Health regeneration per five seconds per rune, making a three-Quintessence sustain page a meaningful option. Against a lane where additional damage is more valuable than recovery, switch to Attack Damage Quintessences.

AP Kennen uses a different setup. Magic Penetration Marks and Ability Power runes support the damage from his spells and the threat created by Mark of the Storm. However, the listed page sacrifices Magic Resist Glyphs for additional Ability Power, so it is an aggressive option for favorable lanes. Against threatening AP opponents, replace the Ability Power Glyphs with Magic Resist. AD Kennen also exists in Classic and requires an attack-oriented configuration rather than copying this AP page.

Best LoL Classic Jungle Runes

Jungle presets need to account for early monster damage, clearing patterns and how the champion reaches enemy lanes. Attack Speed Marks are useful for junglers who repeatedly attack camps, while Ability Power and Magic Penetration can be more suitable for spell-based junglers. Armor Seals provide dependable early protection, and Movement Speed Quintessences help champions travel between camps and approach ganks. A farming carry may instead prioritize more attack speed or damage.

Lee SinAttack DamageArmorMagic ResistMovement Speed

Tank Junglers: Rammus and Amumu

Rammus benefits from defensive runes because Armor supports the way his historical abilities punish physical attackers. Minor Armor Marks and normal Armor Seals provide protection during early camps and physical skirmishes, while Magic Resist Glyphs address damage that Armor does not reduce. Movement Speed Quintessences work with his ganking identity by helping him reach favorable positions before an opponent escapes. If the opposing team has heavy magic damage, additional Magic Resist or Health can be more useful than committing further to Armor.

Amumu's main strengths are magic damage, crowd control and teamfight initiation. Magic Penetration Marks support the damage from his abilities, while Armor Seals make early clearing more comfortable. Movement Speed Quintessences improve positioning for Bandage Toss and access to nearby fights. A safer alternative is to replace Movement Speed with Armor or Health Quintessences when early camp damage and enemy invasions are the main concern.

Attack-Based Junglers: Warwick and Master Yi

Warwick uses Attack Speed Marks to support clearing and sustained combat, while Movement Speed Quintessences help him approach reachable targets. His page is built around steady progression rather than maximum theoretical damage. Master Yi instead uses Attack Speed in both Marks and Quintessences, giving him a stronger offensive emphasis for repeated attacks and farming. A complete page with these selections provides 28.8% Attack Speed before other bonuses, using nine Attack Speed Marks and three Attack Speed Quintessences.

These pages make different sacrifices. Warwick gains movement but less immediate attack frequency, while Master Yi gains attack speed but has no additional Movement Speed from Quintessences. If Master Yi struggles to reach opponents or move efficiently between camps, Movement Speed is a reasonable alternative. Likewise, Warwick can switch to more attack-oriented Quintessences when mobility is already sufficient.

Lee Sin: Physical Damage With Energy Management

Lee Sin's baseline uses Attack Damage Marks and Movement Speed Quintessences to support early fighting and ganking. Armor Seals and Magic Resist Glyphs provide standard defenses. His abilities consume Energy rather than Mana, so Mana and Mana Regeneration runes are not useful solutions to his resource management.

Classic also includes Energy and Energy Regeneration runes introduced in Patch 26.16. Lee Sin can experiment with Energy Regeneration Seals or Quintessences if repeated ability use is limiting his combat pattern, but those substitutions cost Armor, movement or offensive power. They should solve a real resource problem rather than be equipped automatically on every Energy champion.

Rune Pages cannot compensate for a poor jungle route or inefficient Smite usage. The separate LoL Classic Jungle Guide explains camp routes, early clearing, Smite timing and objective control, helping you apply your chosen rune configuration in actual jungle games.

Best LoL Classic Mid Lane Runes

Mid lane contains mages, assassins and several unconventional historical champions. Most AP casters benefit from Magic Penetration Marks and Ability Power Quintessences, but the other slots should reflect the actual opponent. Armor protects against repeated basic attacks and physical all-ins, while flat Magic Resist is useful against early spell damage. Cooldown Reduction, Mana and scaling AP become attractive when the lane is safe enough to sacrifice some defensive power.

Annie, Ahri and Fizz: Burst Damage Versus Lane Safety

Annie uses the most conventional AP preset: Magic Penetration Marks, Armor Seals, Magic Resist Glyphs and Ability Power Quintessences. This gives her offensive power without leaving her completely exposed to enemy damage. Her abilities already provide a clear burst and crowd-control pattern, so she does not need a complicated Rune Page to contribute effectively.

Ahri's listed setup replaces Magic Resist with Cooldown Reduction Glyphs. This favors more frequent ability usage but leaves her more vulnerable against magic damage. Nine flat Cooldown Reduction Glyphs provide approximately 7.47% Cooldown Reduction before other sources. That makes the page more suitable for manageable or favorable lanes; against dangerous AP burst, Magic Resist Glyphs are the safer alternative.

Fizz benefits from Magic Penetration and Ability Power because his historical assassin kit relies on reaching a target and delivering a spell combination. The default keeps Magic Resist for more stable early trading. The Patch 26.20 reductions to Urchin Strike and Seastone Trident AP ratios do not change the fact that these offensive rune types support his spell damage, but runes cannot fully replace damage removed through champion nerfs.

Ryze and Zilean: Resource and Utility-Focused Alternatives

Ryze has greater reasons than most mages to consider maximum Mana because his historical abilities include Mana-related damage scaling and he needs resources for repeated spellcasting. Three Mana Quintessences provide 114 maximum Mana, giving him a different starting profile from an ordinary Ability Power page. This is a deliberate choice rather than an assertion that Mana Quintessences are always superior. Against a matchup where immediate damage matters more, Ability Power Quintessences remain an alternative.

Zilean's recommended page emphasizes Cooldown Reduction and Movement Speed instead of maximizing raw AP. His value comes from landing Time Bomb, controlling movement with Time Warp and using Chronoshift at the correct moment. More frequent ability access and better positioning can therefore be useful. Against strong early burst, replace the Cooldown Reduction Glyphs with Magic Resist rather than sacrificing the ability to survive an engagement.

Akali: Magic Penetration Without Wasting Slots on Mana

Akali's historical kit uses Energy, so she does not benefit from Mana or Mana Regeneration runes. Magic Penetration and Ability Power support her magic-damage threat, while Armor and Magic Resist provide a reliable defensive foundation. If repeated ability usage creates Energy problems, Energy Regeneration Seals can be considered against an opponent who does not punish the loss of Armor. This adjustment is situational; choosing resource runes without identifying a resource limitation can reduce early combat strength unnecessarily.

Best LoL Classic ADC Runes

ADC Rune Pages primarily need to improve reliable farming and damage while preserving enough survivability for the two-player lane. Attack Damage Marks are a strong baseline because they improve early basic attacks and last-hitting. Attack Speed Marks become attractive for champions whose damage is built around repeatedly applying on-hit effects. Armor Seals and Magic Resist Glyphs are broadly useful because bot-lane opponents can threaten a carry with both attacks and spells.

Ashe, Caitlyn and Ezreal: Consistent Early Physical Damage

Ashe and Caitlyn benefit from additional Attack Damage when farming and trading with basic attacks. Their identical baseline pages are intentional: both want stable early damage without sacrificing ordinary bot-lane defenses. Ashe can consider Attack Speed Quintessences for sustained fighting, while Caitlyn can switch to Life Steal against repeated harassment if recovery is more valuable than stronger individual attacks.

Ezreal also benefits from Attack Damage because Mystic Shot scales with physical damage and his early trading often combines spells with basic attacks. The default offensive page supports both. When facing a difficult lane with repeated harassment, Life Steal Quintessences may provide more value than additional damage, although they only heal through eligible attacks and effects rather than solving every source of incoming damage.

Kog'Maw and Vayne: Attack Speed and Sustained Damage

Kog'Maw uses Attack Speed in both Marks and Quintessences to increase the frequency of his attacks. This supports the damage pattern of Bio-Arcane Barrage, especially against durable champions. The major limitation is that attack speed provides no additional protection or mobility. If the opposing lane has strong initiation or poke, swapping some offensive value for Life Steal, Health or Movement Speed can be more practical.

Vayne's page also uses Attack Speed Marks but combines them with Life Steal Quintessences. Her damage increases through repeated attacks and Silver Bolts, yet her relatively short range can expose her to harassment. Life Steal can help recover Health during extended laning, but an aggressive all-in may still require stronger defensive positioning. Attack Speed Quintessences are a more offensive option if the lane is safe and sustain is not the limiting factor.

Graves: Short-Range Trades and Sustain

Original Graves uses a conventional physical-damage page with Life Steal Quintessences. His shorter effective trading range means he often takes damage while approaching opponents, and sustain can help him remain in lane after repeated exchanges. Against a matchup where Graves can reliably win trades without significant retaliation, Attack Damage Quintessences provide a stronger immediate offensive option.

Riot reduced Graves' base damage and offensive scaling in Patch 26.20. Those changes make older damage expectations unreliable, but they do not create a new Rune Page category specifically for him. Attack Damage remains useful, and the choice between damage and sustain depends on the matchup rather than an attempt to recreate his previous damage values through runes alone.

Best LoL Classic Support Runes

Support Rune Pages have the widest range of reasonable choices because supports contribute through different mechanics while receiving less farming income. Enchanters often need enough durability to remain alive and use their abilities, engage tanks benefit from defensive runes, and offensive supports can use Magic Penetration and Ability Power. Gold Quintessences are useful when the lane is safe, but extra income is not worth repeatedly losing fights because the page lacks defensive statistics.

Janna and Sona: Defensive Runes With Gold Income

Janna and Sona use Minor Armor Marks, Armor Seals and Magic Resist Glyphs for a stable defensive foundation. Three Gold Quintessences provide a total of three Gold per ten seconds, improving income for champions that normally do not farm minions. Both supports can contribute through their abilities without investing heavily in personal damage, making this a reasonable default when the lane is not overwhelmingly dangerous.

Against aggressive engage supports, Gold Quintessences are not always the correct choice. A Janna facing repeated physical all-ins can consider Health or Armor Quintessences, while Sona may need additional durability simply to survive long enough to use her healing and teamfight abilities. Losing some future gold is preferable to repeatedly dying before the income advantage becomes relevant.

Leona: Defensive Engage With Movement Speed

Leona's setup prioritizes durability through Minor Armor Marks, Armor Seals and Magic Resist Glyphs. Movement Speed Quintessences help her reach favorable positions before committing with Zenith Blade or following up on allied crowd control. A Health Quintessence page provides an alternative when surviving a direct engagement is more important than reaching it.

The key difference from enchanter pages is that Leona must often enter danger to use her abilities. An income-focused page that works for Janna may leave Leona too vulnerable during an unsuccessful engage. Her rune choices should therefore support her actual initiation pattern rather than follow a universal support template.

Morgana, Annie and Karma: Offensive AP Supports

Morgana, Annie and Karma can use Magic Penetration Marks and Ability Power Quintessences to improve lane pressure. Morgana benefits when Dark Binding and her damaging abilities create effective trading opportunities. Annie can use additional offensive power to punish enemies caught by Pyromania, while Karma's original Heavenly Wave and Spirit Bond give her offensive and utility applications.

The listed pages are aggressive starting points rather than mandatory builds. Morgana may gain more practical value from Gold or defensive Quintessences when Black Shield protection is her main responsibility. Annie can also sacrifice offensive power for durability against lanes capable of eliminating her before she casts a meaningful stun. Karma's Patch 26.21 buffs improve several of her ability values, but they do not establish one statistically superior rune configuration without corresponding Classic match data.

Soraka: Staying Alive to Provide Sustain

Classic Soraka uses her historical healing and resource-related utility rather than the modern version of her kit. Minor Armor Marks and conventional defensive runes help her survive repeated attacks, while Health Regeneration Quintessences provide passive recovery. This is a defensive page for difficult lanes, not a claim that Health Regeneration always gives greater value than Gold or Ability Power.

Against a low-pressure lane where Soraka can remain safe, Gold Quintessences are a reasonable alternative. Against dangerous physical engagement, Armor or Health may be more important. The objective is to keep her alive and able to use Astral Blessing and other support abilities rather than maximizing a stat that has little impact on her immediate responsibilities.

How to Adjust Rune Pages for Different Matchups

The champion presets are starting points, not fixed answers for every draft. Most matchup adjustments require changing only one rune category. This preserves the main purpose of the page while addressing the threat most likely to decide the early game. When choosing between flat and scaling runes, consider when the enemy can actually punish you, not only which rune offers the larger number at level 18. Champions not named in the tables can begin with a preset for a similar damage and resource pattern, then adapt it to their own abilities and opposing lane.

Practical Classic Rune Page substitutions
SituationRecommended AdjustmentReason
Dangerous early magic burstUse flat Magic Resist Glyphs instead of Scaling Magic Resist or offensive Glyphs.Immediate resistance matters before scaling bonuses catch up.
Repeated physical harassmentKeep Armor Seals; consider Minor Armor Marks or Health Quintessences.Improves survival during early attacks and short trades.
Safe scaling laneConsider Scaling Magic Resist, Scaling Health or Scaling Ability Power.Trades some early strength for stronger later statistics.
Poor sustain against pokeConsider Life Steal or Health Regeneration Quintessences.Provides recovery appropriate to the champion's attack or sustain pattern.
Cannot reach targets reliablyUse Movement Speed Quintessences instead of some offensive Quintessences.Better positioning may create more useful attacks or spell opportunities.
Repeated Mana problemsConsider Mana Regeneration Seals or Mana Glyphs.Supports repeated casting or a larger mana pool, at the cost of another stat.
Repeated Energy problemsConsider Energy Regeneration runes on Energy-based champions.Supports resource recovery without wasting slots on Mana.
Safe low-income support laneUse Gold Quintessences, or Gold Seals when defensive Seals are not needed.Improves long-term income but reduces immediate combat power.

Flat Versus Scaling Runes

Flat runes provide their listed bonus immediately, while scaling runes become more valuable as the champion gains levels. For example, a flat Magic Resist Glyph gives 1.4 Magic Resist, while its scaling counterpart gives 0.2 Magic Resist per level. One scaling Glyph matches the flat value at level 7 and exceeds it afterward, based on the current Classic values. That does not automatically make it the stronger choice: a champion facing dangerous early magic damage may need the flat bonus before level 7.

The same principle applies to Armor, Health, Ability Power and Cooldown Reduction. Scaling bonuses are attractive when you can survive the early game without relying on the statistic, but taking them into repeated aggressive trades can sacrifice more Health or minions than the later advantage is worth. Use flat defenses when the matchup is decided early and scaling runes when the early lane is comparatively safe.

Offensive Penetration Versus Raw Damage

Attack Damage Marks improve early attacks and abilities that scale with AD, making them especially useful for last-hitting and physical trading. Lethality Marks instead target the opponent's physical defenses and may become preferable for champions built around physical-damage abilities rather than repeated attacks. Magic Penetration Marks serve a similar offensive purpose for spellcasters dealing magic damage, while Ability Power runes increase the raw stat used by eligible abilities.

Choosing penetration does not automatically guarantee more damage in every situation. The result depends on the target's defenses, the champion's ability ratios and how frequently the relevant damage is applied. For stable physical farming, Attack Damage remains a straightforward recommendation. For magic-damage mages, Magic Penetration Marks are a strong default because they work across multiple spells rather than only increasing one specific scaling effect.

Which Rune Pages Should You Prepare First?

A player does not need a separate collection of purchased runes for every champion in the tables. Classic runes are reusable across saved Rune Pages, so completing broadly useful rows makes it easier to prepare several champions without repeatedly buying the same rune type. Patch 26.17 also granted two additional Rune Pages and reduced the cost of Minor Runes and Quintessences, making multiple configurations more accessible than at launch.

The most useful initial pages for a player who switches between roles are:

  • Physical carry page: 9 Attack Damage Marks, 9 Armor Seals, 9 Magic Resist Glyphs and 3 Attack Damage Quintessences. Covers many ADCs and physical solo laners.
  • AP mage page: 9 Magic Penetration Marks, 9 Armor Seals, 9 Magic Resist Glyphs and 3 Ability Power Quintessences. Works as a conservative starting point for many mid mages and offensive supports.
  • Attack-based jungle page: 9 Attack Speed Marks, 9 Armor Seals, 9 Scaling Magic Resist Glyphs and 3 Movement Speed Quintessences. Suits several junglers whose clearing relies on repeated attacks.
  • Defensive support page: 9 Minor Armor Marks, 9 Armor Seals, 9 Magic Resist Glyphs and 3 Gold Quintessences. Suitable for utility supports in manageable lanes, with defensive Quintessences available for harder matchups.

Start with the pages matching the champions you actually play. An ADC specialist gains little from spending early Influence Points on Energy runes for champions they never select, while a Lee Sin or Akali specialist may have a genuine reason to purchase Energy-related options. Likewise, a support player who frequently faces aggressive lanes should obtain defensive Quintessences before investing heavily in multiple Gold-focused variants.

Rune slots unlock as your Classic account progresses. Marks become available at Classic level 4, Seals at level 6, Glyphs at level 7 and Quintessences at level 8. Riot also provides bonuses for unfilled slots, so an incomplete collection does not leave a new account with zero rune statistics. Patch 26.16 increased the placeholder bonuses from 66% to 80% of the corresponding rune value, but a completed custom page offers more control over the statistics your champion needs.

The LoL Classic Builds Guide explains how these Rune Pages fit with complete item builds, Masteries, Summoner Spells and skill orders. Use it after selecting the rune configuration that matches your champion and lane. The League of Legends Guides hub also connects the broader Classic champion and gameplay resources.

Recent Classic Rune Changes and Patch Accuracy

Classic rune values should be checked against the released mode rather than copied directly from a historical Season 3 guide. Riot restored the old Rune Page structure but has also made adjustments during Classic's 2026 run. The most relevant confirmed changes occurred in Patches 26.16 and 26.17.

  • Patch 26.16: Increased the power of default placeholder rune slots from 66% to 80% and improved Scaling Armor Seals from 0.15 to 0.17 Armor per level.
  • Patch 26.16: Added rune options involving Ability Power, Mana, Mana Regeneration, Energy, Energy Regeneration and Health Regeneration, expanding the available resource and matchup choices.
  • Patch 26.17: Granted two extra Rune Pages to every player, more than doubled IP gained per game and doubled Classic XP gained per game.
  • Patch 26.17: Reduced Minor Rune and Quintessence prices, and increased the Health Regeneration Quintessence from 1.5 to 3 Health regeneration per five seconds.

Riot's Patch 26.21 Notes introduce additional Classic champions and balance changes but do not announce a replacement Rune Page system or new rune stat adjustments in the Classic section. The presets above therefore continue to use the confirmed rune catalogue rather than inventing new values for the latest champion releases.

For the original rune changes, consult Riot's Patch 26.16 Notes and Patch 26.17 Notes. Future balance patches may change champion abilities without changing the runes themselves. That can still affect which preset is preferable, so a champion page should be reassessed when the character's damage, resource costs or early survivability changes meaningfully.

LoL Classic Best Runes FAQ

These answers address common questions about using the presets and managing Classic Rune Pages.

What are the best runes for ADC in LoL Classic? Nine Attack Damage Marks, nine Armor Seals, nine Magic Resist Glyphs and three Attack Damage Quintessences are a dependable starting page for Ashe, Caitlyn and several other physical carries. Kog'Maw and some on-hit champions may prefer Attack Speed, while Life Steal Quintessences can help against sustained harassment.

Can the same purchased runes be used on multiple Rune Pages? Yes. A purchased rune is a reusable part of your Classic collection, so you can configure multiple saved pages with the same rune types. You do not need to repurchase the complete row for every champion.

Are Classic Runes the same as modern League keystones? No. Classic uses Marks, Seals, Glyphs and Quintessences that provide statistics. Modern systems such as Conqueror, Electrocute and the current Rune Page structure are not substitutes for Classic's pre-game preparation.

Should I always use scaling runes instead of flat runes? No. Scaling runes can provide better statistics later, but flat bonuses are valuable when surviving or winning the first few levels matters most. Choose the version that addresses the point in the game where your matchup is most difficult.

Choosing the Best Runes in League Classic

A good Classic Rune Page begins with the champion's damage and resource mechanics, then adjusts to the opposing lane. Physical carries generally need reliable offensive statistics and early defenses, mages benefit from Magic Penetration and appropriate AP or resource bonuses, and jungle or support pages should solve their particular mobility, survivability and utility requirements. Use the champion presets as complete starting configurations, change individual rune categories when the matchup demands it and prioritize reusable runes before specialized purchases.
