Mount Hyjal attunement is built around one quest with two raid checkpoints. Soridormi in the Caverns of Time offers The Vials of Eternity, which requires Vashj's Vial Remnant from Lady Vashj in Serpentshrine Cavern and Kael's Vial Remnant from Kael'thas Sunstrider in Tempest Keep. Return both remnants to Soridormi to unlock the Battle for Mount Hyjal.
The quest is shorter than the Black Temple chain, but each objective sits behind a 25-player raid and a weekly lockout. The most important preparation rule is to accept The Vials of Eternity before killing either final boss and to loot the correct remnant before leaving the instance.
Mount Hyjal Attunement Requirements
Check access to Soridormi and both Tier 5 raids before reserving boss kills. A character who can accept the quest but cannot enter Serpentshrine Cavern or Tempest Keep will still be blocked.
| Requirement | Why it matters | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Level 70 | Both required objectives are final bosses of level 70 raids | Reach level 70 before scheduling Lady Vashj or Kael'thas |
| Caverns of Time access | Soridormi is located on the lower level of the Caverns of Time | Complete the introductory Caverns of Time access steps and travel to Tanaris |
| The Vials of Eternity | The vial remnants are quest objectives rather than automatic raid unlocks | Accept the quest before either final boss dies |
| Serpentshrine Cavern access | Lady Vashj is the final SSC encounter | Confirm the character or account can enter and the group can reach Vashj |
| Tempest Keep access | Kael'thas Sunstrider is the final encounter in The Eye | Confirm raid access and a group capable of completing the full instance |
| Two raid checkpoints | Each remnant comes from a different weekly raid | Reserve both kills and track which item has already been looted |
The official TBC Anniversary Phase 3 announcement confirms that The Vials of Eternity is the required Mount Hyjal access quest. It also confirms that a player does not need to be in a raid group simply to enter the instance after access is available, although defeating the encounters still requires an organized raid.
Keepers of Time Reputation in TBC Anniversary
The original Burning Crusade version of the attunement used Revered reputation with Keepers of Time as the prerequisite for Soridormi. Current Anniversary behavior is less restrictive, and players have been able to accept The Vials of Eternity below the old Revered threshold, including at Honored.
Do not continue an unnecessary reputation grind without checking the NPC. Visit Soridormi after reaching level 70 and completing the Caverns of Time introduction. If the quest is not available, verify the introductory questline, current Keepers of Time standing and whether The Vials of Eternity is already active or complete on the character.

Where to Find Soridormi
Soridormi is found on the lower level of the Caverns of Time in Tanaris and moves within the central cavern. Enter the Caverns of Time, travel down to the instance hub and look near the Scale of the Sands NPCs. She both starts and completes The Vials of Eternity.
- Travel to the Caverns of Time in eastern Tanaris.
- Use the dragon transport or travel down through the cavern.
- Locate Soridormi on the lower level.
- Accept The Vials of Eternity.
- Confirm that both Vashj's Vial Remnant and Kael's Vial Remnant appear as objectives.
The quest should be collected before entering either Tier 5 raid. The two remnants do not need to be obtained during the same week and can be collected in either order.
The Vials of Eternity Quest Overview
The entire attunement can be summarized as two final-boss kills and one return to Soridormi. The difficulty comes from reaching the bosses, not from additional outdoor or dungeon steps.
| Quest objective | Boss | Raid | Required action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vashj's Vial Remnant | Lady Vashj | Serpentshrine Cavern | Defeat Lady Vashj and loot the quest item |
| Kael's Vial Remnant | Kael'thas Sunstrider | Tempest Keep The Eye | Defeat Kael'thas and loot the quest item |
| Quest completion | None | Caverns of Time | Return both remnants to Soridormi |
A boss kill alone is not enough. The character must have the quest active and must loot the corresponding remnant. Check the quest tracker after each encounter and do not leave the raid until the objective is marked complete.
Lady Vashj Checkpoint in Serpentshrine Cavern
Lady Vashj is the final boss of Serpentshrine Cavern in Coilfang Reservoir. The raid must defeat the earlier encounters and complete the Vashj fight before the character can loot Vashj's Vial Remnant.
- Confirm The Vials of Eternity is active.
- Enter Serpentshrine Cavern with a group capable of reaching the final encounter.
- Complete the required raid progression and defeat Lady Vashj.
- Loot Vashj's Vial Remnant from the defeated boss.
- Check that the Vashj objective is complete before leaving SSC.
Do not schedule only the final boss unless the raid lockout and group arrangement support that plan. A fresh group may need a full Serpentshrine Cavern clear, while a saved lockout can restrict which players are able to join. Players unable to secure the two Tier 5 checkpoints through their regular roster can compare their current progress with the Mount Hyjal Attunement Boost. Confirm which remnant is still missing so completed progress is not repeated.
Kaelthas Checkpoint in Tempest Keep

Kael'thas Sunstrider is the final boss of Tempest Keep The Eye in Netherstorm. Kael's Vial Remnant is a separate personal quest objective, so completing the Vashj checkpoint does not grant automatic credit for this raid.
- Keep The Vials of Eternity in the quest log.
- Enter Tempest Keep and complete the encounters leading to Kael'thas.
- Defeat Kael'thas Sunstrider.
- Loot Kael's Vial Remnant.
- Verify that both vial objectives are now complete if Vashj was defeated earlier.
Kael'thas is also part of other Tier 5 progression goals, so the raid should confirm which members need quest credit before the pull. If the group cannot finish the encounter, the character must preserve another opportunity before the intended Mount Hyjal raid date.
Which Vial Remnant Should Be Collected First
The quest does not require a fixed boss order. Collect Vashj's Vial Remnant or Kael's Vial Remnant first according to available raid nights, lockouts and group strength. The most efficient choice is the checkpoint that can be completed reliably rather than the boss that appears first in the quest tracker.
| Situation | Recommended first checkpoint | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| The guild regularly clears SSC | Lady Vashj | Secure the reliable remnant while the correct quest is active |
| The group has a stronger Tempest Keep schedule | Kael'thas | Use the raid night with the better chance of reaching the final boss |
| One raid is already locked | The available raid | Avoid waiting when the other checkpoint can be completed immediately |
| Both bosses are available | Either order | The quest only checks that both remnants are returned |
The official Phase 2 content overview confirms Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep as the two current Tier 5 raids. Both remain part of Tier 6 preparation because their final bosses supply the Hyjal attunement items.
Return Both Vial Remnants to Soridormi
After both objectives are complete, return to Soridormi in the Caverns of Time and turn in The Vials of Eternity. The quest unlocks Mount Hyjal and awards Scale of the Sands reputation, moving a new character into Friendly standing with the raid faction.
- Confirm both vial remnants are complete in the quest tracker.
- Travel back to the lower Caverns of Time.
- Find Soridormi.
- Turn in The Vials of Eternity.
- Confirm Mount Hyjal access before the scheduled raid.
The Friendly reputation level begins the Scale of the Sands ring progression. Additional reputation is earned inside Mount Hyjal, and the associated Band of Eternity can be upgraded as the character reaches higher standings. This reward path is separate from the basic act of collecting both vial remnants.
How Mount Hyjal Attunement Connects to Black Temple
Mount Hyjal is not only a destination. It is also a required checkpoint in the Black Temple chain. After completing Ruse of the Ashtongue, Akama offers An Artifact From the Past, which requires Rage Winterchill inside Mount Hyjal and the Time-Phased Phylactery.
- Complete The Vials of Eternity and unlock Mount Hyjal.
- Advance the Black Temple chain through Fathom-Lord Karathress and Al'ar.
- Accept An Artifact From the Past from Akama.
- Enter Mount Hyjal and defeat Rage Winterchill.
- Loot the Time-Phased Phylactery and return to Akama.
Completing The Vials of Eternity does not automatically unlock Black Temple. It only gives access to the raid containing the next Black Temple objective. Track the two attunements separately so the Hyjal unlock is not mistaken for completion of the Medallion of Karabor chain.
Mount Hyjal Attunement for Alts
TBC Classic Anniversary uses account-wide raid access after an attunement is completed on one character. Partial quest progress is not shared. An alt does not automatically receive completed quest objectives, Scale of the Sands reputation or the associated quest rewards.
| Alt objective | Does the alt need The Vials of Eternity | Recommended action |
|---|---|---|
| Enter Mount Hyjal after account access is unlocked | No full repeat should be required for basic account raid access | Test the entrance before the scheduled raid |
| Earn the quest reputation reward | Yes | Collect both remnants and complete the quest on the alt |
| Begin personal Band of Eternity progression | Yes | Reach Friendly with Scale of the Sands on that character |
| Complete the Black Temple Rage Winterchill step | The alt needs the relevant personal Black Temple quest progress | Enter Hyjal with An Artifact From the Past active |
| Earn Scale of the Sands reputation | Account access does not grant reputation | Run Mount Hyjal on the alt and earn reputation normally |
A raid alt that only needs entry should verify the account unlock and focus on gear, consumables and encounter assignments. Repeat the quest when the character needs its own reputation, ring progression or related quest completion.
Mount Hyjal Raid Preparation After Attunement
Attunement confirms access but does not prepare the character for the raid. Mount Hyjal combines five bosses with repeated enemy waves, so groups need area damage, threat control, mana recovery, camp organization and reliable recovery after deaths.
- Confirm that every required character can enter the instance.
- Prepare raid consumables for both waves and boss attempts.
- Assign tanks and crowd control for dangerous wave enemies.
- Plan healer mana recovery across consecutive waves.
- Set loot rules for Tier 6 tokens and other major rewards.
- Keep An Artifact From the Past active on characters progressing toward Black Temple.
Players with access but without a stable Tier 6 group can review the available Mount Hyjal raid service after checking their character, preferred completion and Black Temple quest requirements. Raid completion is a separate goal from attunement and should not be confused with the two-vial unlock.
Common Mount Hyjal Attunement Mistakes
Most delays come from killing a final boss without the quest, leaving before looting a remnant or assuming one Tier 5 clear completes both objectives. Check the tracker before and after every checkpoint.
- Do not rely on the old Revered requirement without checking Soridormi on Anniversary realms.
- Do not kill Lady Vashj before accepting The Vials of Eternity.
- Do not kill Kael'thas before accepting The Vials of Eternity.
- Do not leave either raid before looting the personal quest item.
- Do not assume the two remnants must be collected in a fixed order.
- Do not wait until the final available lockout to schedule the harder boss.
- Do not mistake Mount Hyjal access for completed Black Temple attunement.
- Do not assume account access grants personal reputation or ring progression to an alt.
After each boss, confirm the corresponding objective is complete. Once both remnants are recorded, return to Soridormi immediately instead of carrying a finished quest into the first planned Hyjal raid night.
Final Thoughts
The complete Mount Hyjal attunement route is direct: accept The Vials of Eternity from Soridormi, defeat Lady Vashj and loot Vashj's Vial Remnant, defeat Kael'thas and loot Kael's Vial Remnant, then return both items to the Caverns of Time. The order of the two raid checkpoints does not matter.
The real risk is weekly scheduling. Accept the quest before either boss dies, verify each personal loot objective and keep enough time for a second attempt if one raid cannot reach its final encounter. Once Soridormi accepts both remnants, Mount Hyjal access is complete and the character can continue Scale of the Sands and Black Temple progression.
