ARC Raiders currently has six Topside maps plus the Practice Range. The practical unlock path is Dam Battlegrounds → Buried City → Spaceport → The Blue Gate → Riven Tides → Stella Montis, with access based on total rounds played rather than successful extractions. Start by learning safe exits and low-commitment loot runs on Dam, then move into the denser and more contested maps as your stash, crafting options, and confidence improve. This guide reflects the live map pool and systems following Update 1.39.0, released July 28, 2026.
ARC Raiders Map Unlock Order
Rounds count toward map access whether you extract or lose the raid, so do not throw away kits merely to accelerate unlocks. The better approach is to use each unlock milestone to build the supplies, map knowledge, and recovery loadouts needed for the next zone.
| Map | Unlock Requirement | Editorial Difficulty | Best Early Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dam Battlegrounds | Available immediately | Beginner | Learn raids, extraction timing, basic materials, ARC parts |
| Practice Range | 4 rounds played | Safe training area | Test weapons, recoil, gadgets, and movement |
| Buried City | 6 rounds played | Intermediate | Compact urban looting and close-range PvP practice |
| Spaceport | 12 rounds played | Intermediate | Industrial, technological, and weapon-focused loot routes |
| The Blue Gate | 18 rounds played | Intermediate-hard | Mixed residential, outdoor, underground, and event farming |
| Riven Tides | 20 rounds played | Hard | Coastal high-risk loot runs and ARC Turbine opportunities |
| Stella Montis | 24 rounds played | Hard | Dense endgame indoor raids and high-value technical loot |
The Practice Range is not a normal loot-and-extract destination, but unlocking it early is valuable. Use it before bringing an unfamiliar weapon, grenade, or traversal tool into a costly raid. A few minutes of testing can prevent a much more expensive mistake Topside.
The Best Progression Order for New Raiders
The unlock order is not automatically the best order for every raid. Your map choice should change according to your current objective: workshop materials, Credits, blueprints, quest progress, ARC parts, or PvP practice.
- Run Dam Battlegrounds until extraction feels routine. Learn to identify your nearest exit before you commit to a major point of interest. Build a recovery kit supply instead of risking every good weapon immediately.
- Use Buried City to improve close-range decision-making. The city offers cover, rooftops, interiors, and short sightlines, but it also makes third parties much more likely. Loot one area, reposition, and avoid treating every gunshot as an invitation to fight.
- Move to Spaceport when you need industrial and technology-focused scavenging. Its larger sightlines punish open rotations. Bring a weapon you can use at range, but do not stay exposed to chase a container or a damaged Raider.
- Make The Blue Gate your flexible farming map. It supports several playstyles because it combines open terrain, buildings, underground areas, and map-specific events. It is a strong choice when you have multiple quest objectives but no reason to force a boss event.
- Enter Riven Tides with a purpose. The coastal layout is exposed and the map is more punishing when multiple teams rotate toward the same objective. Go in for specific quest items, event loot, or a planned high-value route—not an unfocused first look.
- Use Stella Montis for prepared endgame runs. Its indoor, multi-level facility creates frequent close-quarters fights and limited reset space. Bring a coherent kit, know your intended extraction route, and leave when you have the item that justified the risk.
A good progression rule is simple: do not graduate to the next map because you unlocked it; graduate because you can replace the kit you are bringing. If a death on the new map leaves you unable to field a functional recovery loadout, return to Dam or Buried City for a few low-risk extractions.

All ARC Raiders Maps: Loot, Terrain, and Risk
Dam Battlegrounds: best map for learning the extraction loop
Dam Battlegrounds is the starter map and remains useful long after the opening hours. The broken power plant, wetlands, research buildings, and vegetation create enough route variety to learn how sound, cover, ARC patrols, and player movement interact without forcing every raid into tight indoor combat.
- Prioritize: common workshop materials, ARC components, quest items, and safe early Credits.
- Best for: solo recovery runs, new-player contracts, basic ARC hunting, and learning when to extract.
- Main danger: open ground around major structures and high-traffic event areas can expose you to long sightlines and third parties.
- Useful feature: the Controlled Access Zone is a higher-risk loot objective that requires coordination and match-specific resources. Do not make it your default solo route unless you have an exit plan.
Dam is also a frequent host for major conditions such as Harvester, Matriarch, Electromagnetic Storm, Hurricane, and Close Scrutiny. Those conditions can turn a beginner-friendly map into a high-value, high-traffic raid. If you only need ordinary materials, choosing a normal Dam run is often safer than following every event notification.
Buried City: the strongest map for urban cover and fast rotations
Buried City trades Dam’s open terrain for sand-filled streets, villas, rooftops, plazas, and interiors. It is easier to break line of sight here, but the same density makes it easier for another squad to hear your fight, climb above you, or wait on your extraction route.
- Prioritize: residential, commercial, medical, and Old World containers; sellable valuables; mission objectives in city buildings.
- Best for: players who prefer cover-to-cover movement, quick building clears, and close- to mid-range combat.
- Main danger: vertical pressure. Roof access and windows create angles that are difficult to clear if you linger in one building.
- Route rule: clear one compact block, then rotate toward an exit rather than crossing the entire city with a full bag.
Buried City is not inherently a “safe” map just because it has more cover. Cover can save you from a distant shooter, but it can also conceal an enemy team until they are within grenade or shotgun range. For better results, use sound discipline and choose fights only when you have a second route out. Our ARC Raiders PvP fundamentals guide explains how to use audio cues, angles, and disengages to keep urban fights under control.
Spaceport: best for industrial and technology-focused scavenging
Spaceport is built around Acerra Spaceport’s abandoned launch infrastructure. It is a broad, industrial map with valuable technical loot, but its open areas and major landmarks can make routes predictable. The map also has underground space, so you need to think in layers rather than treating a marker as a single flat destination.
- Prioritize: industrial, electrical, technological, mechanical, and weapon-related loot categories.
- Best for: workshop upgrades that need technical components, weapon cases, and planned squads with coverage at multiple ranges.
- Main danger: lengthy exposed movement between large structures and competition around high-value facilities.
- Special condition: Hidden Bunker extends the raid and creates a contested objective. The reward is meaningful, but activating it announces your intentions through noise, movement, and player traffic.
Bring enough healing and shield recovery for a long rotation, but avoid overpacking consumables that you will not use. Spaceport rewards deliberate routes more than random building-to-building wandering. If your bag is already full of components you actively need, extract instead of gambling it all for one more container.
The Blue Gate: the best all-purpose midgame map
The Blue Gate is a mountainous valley with abandoned towns, orchards, open approaches, and a dangerous underground complex. That variety makes it one of the most flexible maps in the pool. It can support questing, farming, event runs, and PvP, but the correct route changes sharply with your spawn, active condition, and extraction availability.
- Prioritize: residential and nature-related loot above ground; industrial, electrical, and ARC-related materials below ground.
- Best for: mixed objective sessions, squads that can handle both open and interior combat, and players developing map-condition awareness.
- Main danger: committing underground without a clean exit. The tunnels concentrate ARC pressure and attract Raiders looking for predictable routes.
- Special condition: Locked Gate is a high-risk objective built around acquiring key cards and opening the secured area.
Do not enter the underground complex simply because it is nearby. Go down only when your loadout, current health, ammunition, and available exit make sense for it. If you are carrying quest progress or rare blueprints, the safer choice is often to bank the run first and return with a fresh kit.
Riven Tides: high-risk coastal loot and ARC Turbine farming
Riven Tides is the newest live map, added with the Riven Tides update. The abandoned harbor resort gives it a distinct identity: coastline exposure, dense resort structures, vertical hotel routes, and limited room to recover when an ARC encounter or PvP fight escalates.
- Prioritize: commercial and residential loot in resort buildings; industrial and electrical components around service areas; event rewards and ARC Turbine parts when conditions are favorable.
- Best for: focused high-value runs, experienced duos or trios, and players pursuing Riven Tides contracts.
- Main danger: exposed coastlines and heavily contested landmark routes. A visible fight can draw several teams quickly.
- Map-specific opportunity: Stacking Yard contains layered loot objectives involving switches, a battery, and lift access. Treat it as a contested puzzle, not free loot.
The ARC Turbine arrived alongside Riven Tides, although it can appear beyond the new map. Embark has since increased its loot value, but it remains a dangerous target that relocates and defends itself with electrical attacks and mines. Fight it only with space to move, a planned retreat, and enough time to extract afterward. For large ARC targets, use the same discipline covered in our boss and elite survival guide: establish a lane, fight in controlled cycles, and leave when another squad turns the encounter into a bad trade.
Stella Montis: the endgame indoor map
Stella Montis is a secluded mountain research facility split across multiple levels. It is less forgiving than the outdoor maps because tight corridors, vertical interiors, and overlapping routes make disengaging harder. High-value loot is a reason to go there, but it is not a reason to enter undergeared.
- Prioritize: medical, security, technological, and research-facility containers; high-value locked rooms when you can secure the surrounding area.
- Best for: prepared squads, indoor-combat specialists, blueprints and technical loot hunting, and players comfortable with fast close-range decisions.
- Main danger: being trapped between ARC pressure and another team in a corridor or stairwell.
- Condition note: Stella Montis has a narrower condition pool than most maps, with Night Raid being its main featured modifier.
On Stella Montis, every door, staircase, and hallway can become a choke point. Avoid carrying a single long-range weapon with no answer for a close push. Keep one route behind you, do not stack tightly with teammates in doorways, and listen before opening a locked room. The loot is dense, which means Raider traffic often is too.
How Map Conditions Change Loot and Difficulty
Base map difficulty is only part of the decision. Live map conditions can substantially change threat level, loot incentives, visibility, available objectives, and the number of players converging on one location. Check the official ARC Raiders Map Conditions page before committing a valuable kit.
| Condition Type | What Changes | When to Run It |
|---|---|---|
| Night Raid | Higher ARC and Raider pressure; improved locked-door opportunities and more keys | When you have a planned route, key usage, and a reliable close-range kit |
| Electromagnetic Storm | Lightning hazards and disrupted ARC behavior | When you understand open-ground risk and can adapt to unpredictable engagements |
| Hurricane | Reduced visibility and altered awareness in strong winds | For stealthier rotations, not for players relying on long visual sightlines |
| Harvester or Matriarch | Major ARC objective with concentrated player traffic | With a coordinated team, damage plan, healing, and extraction route |
| Hidden Bunker or Locked Gate | Map-specific puzzle objective and contested reward space | When you can solve the objective quickly and leave before third parties arrive |
| Close Scrutiny | High-end ARC Operation featuring Surveyors and Vaporizers | Only with a real combat kit; free loadouts are restricted for this condition |
Since Update 1.33.0, Embark has tested a No Free Loadout requirement for Night Raid and Close Scrutiny. Do not queue into those conditions expecting to use a disposable free kit. More importantly, do not confuse a valuable condition with guaranteed profit: a high-value event is profitable only if you can secure the loot and extract it.
Map Selection Rules That Prevent Bad Raids
- Choose the map for the item, not its reputation. Run Spaceport for technical needs, Dam for stable recovery and ARC parts, Buried City for compact urban looting, Blue Gate for flexible objectives, Riven Tides for focused high-risk value, and Stella Montis for prepared indoor endgame runs.
- Check your spawn and extraction points before routing. An excellent loot location on the other side of the map can become a poor choice if your exit is far away or the route crosses a major event.
- Loot outward from your extraction. Start with nearby containers, then extend deeper only while your health, ammunition, time, and bag value allow it. This gives you an easy decision point when the raid becomes noisy.
- Do not cross the entire map with a completed objective. Quest items, rare components, and blueprints are already a successful raid. Extracting them is better than converting a win into an unnecessary fight.
- Match the kit to the terrain. Open maps reward range and movement options; Buried City and Stella Montis require a close-range response; event runs need healing, shield recovery, and enough ammunition to survive both ARC and Raiders.
What to Do After Each Successful Map Unlock
Each unlock should improve your account rather than merely expand your queue options. After reaching a new map, make a few low-commitment learning runs before taking keys, rare weapons, or quest-critical items there.
- Run the map with a replaceable kit and identify at least two extraction options.
- Learn the high-traffic landmarks by listening to where shots, ARC fights, and extraction calls concentrate.
- Record which loot categories support your current workshop upgrade or quest plan.
- Decide which areas are worth contesting and which are better treated as avoidance zones.
- Clean your stash after the raid so the new materials turn into progress rather than clutter. Use this ARC Raiders keep, sell, and recycle guide if you need a simple rule set for protecting upgrade materials without hoarding everything.
If you want help clearing a difficult map objective, extracting rare materials, or farming a specific target with an organized team, ExpCarry also offers ARC Raiders carry and farming services. It is optional support, not a replacement for learning the routes and extraction decisions that make every future raid safer.
Final Map Progression Recommendation
For most players, Dam Battlegrounds is the foundation, Buried City and Spaceport are the early progression maps, The Blue Gate is the flexible midgame destination, and Riven Tides plus Stella Montis are the high-risk endgame choices. The map with the best loot is never automatically the best map for your raid. Pick the destination that matches your current objective, kit value, active map condition, spawn, and available extraction—and leave once you have enough to make the run worthwhile.
