In the current Western version of Lost Ark, Chaos Dungeons and the Kurzan Front are solo daily activities that provide progression materials, silver, shards, equipment-related rewards, Cube tickets, and occasional Fate Ember rewards. Characters from level 50 can access the system after completing the required North Vern guide quest and having Aura of Resonance available. Characters at Item Level 1640 and above should normally use the Kurzan Front instead of Tier 3 Chaos Dungeons.
Chaos Dungeons and Kurzan Front: Current Overview
Chaos Dungeons are fast PvE stages where you defeat waves of monsters and fill a Purification Gauge before the timer expires. Chaos Dungeons use portals between stages, while the Kurzan Front is a continuous battle in which enemies keep spawning until the objective is complete.
The two activities serve a similar purpose, but they belong to different progression brackets:
| Activity | Progression bracket | Entry model | Main purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chaos Dungeon | Tier 3 characters, generally Item Level 1620 and below | Solo daily activity | Tier 3 progression materials, silver, shards, tickets, and related rewards |
| Kurzan Front | Tier 4 characters, generally Item Level 1640 and above | Solo daily activity | Tier 4 progression materials and endgame daily rewards |
The table is a practical progression guide rather than a replacement for the entry menu. Always check the activity shown for your current Item Level, because consolidation and reward adjustments can change which stage is appropriate for a character.
Recent Western updates changed these activities substantially. Chaos Dungeons were consolidated, several old reward types were removed, and Chaos Dungeons and the Kurzan Front were changed to solo-only instances. Older guides that describe matchmaking, Find Party groups, or large accessory and ability-stone drops from these activities should not be treated as current instructions.
Who This Guide Is For
This guide is intended for:
- New level 50 characters learning the daily progression loop.
- Returning players who remember the older Chaos Dungeon system.
- Tier 3 characters deciding which Chaos Dungeon level to select.
- Tier 4 characters moving into the Kurzan Front.
- Players trying to use Aura of Resonance and Rest Bonus efficiently.
It is not a boss mechanic guide or a class build guide. Chaos Dungeons and the Kurzan Front are primarily about selecting the correct stage, clearing efficiently, and spending the resulting materials on character progression.

Requirements and How to Enter
Use the Alt+Q Quick Menu and select Chaos Dungeons or the Kurzan Front. The official Western dungeon guide lists the basic access requirements as:
- Character level 50 or higher.
- Completion of the Afterimages of the Rift quest in North Vern.
- At least 100 Aura of Resonance available for entry.
High-level characters may see the Kazeros War Map in the menu instead after reaching Item Level 1640 or higher and completing The Way Forward in North Kurzan. This does not remove the daily activity; it changes how the relevant endgame content is presented in the interface.
Kurzan Front access also depends on reaching the Tier 4 progression path through North Kurzan. If the activity is not visible, check your Quest Journal for unfinished guide or story quests rather than assuming that the character lacks the required Item Level.
Aura of Resonance and Rest Bonus
Aura of Resonance is the resource used to enter Chaos Dungeons and the Kurzan Front. Characters receive a daily amount that refreshes at server reset. Entry consumes Aura immediately, so leaving early still costs the Aura used for that run and can forfeit the associated loot.
Because the current Kurzan Front and Chaos Dungeon system is solo-only, there is no need to wait for a party or adjust your route around matchmaking. The main decision is whether to spend the available Aura now or allow the character to accumulate Rest Bonus.
If you miss daily activity, remaining Aura can convert into Rest Bonus at reset. Rest Bonus can increase the rewards from a later clear, up to the character’s storage limit. This makes rested play a valid option for alts and rosters that cannot complete every daily run.
Do not confuse Rest Bonus with weekly purification progress. Rest Bonus affects the value of eligible rested clears, while the Weekly Purification system tracks separate Chaos Dungeon progress. The current interface is the final authority for the exact reward chest and meter values on your character.
How the Activity Works
Chaos Dungeon stages
A Chaos Dungeon is divided into successive stages connected by portals. Defeat enough monsters to fill the Purification Gauge, then use the portal when it appears. The timer resets when you progress through a portal, giving you time to complete the next stage.
The basic objective is not to kill every enemy on the map. Your goal is to defeat enough monsters to complete the gauge before the activity timer expires. Chasing isolated enemies or stopping to collect every drop can make a run slower without improving the completion result.
Kurzan Front combat
The Kurzan Front uses a continuous battle format rather than the traditional portal sequence. Enemies arrive in waves, and you continue fighting while progressing the activity objective. The combat is designed as a daily solo farming activity, so your build should prioritize reliable area damage, mobility, and cooldown uptime over specialized party utility.
Kurzan Front is not a four-player dungeon and does not require a support class, counter rotation, stagger assignment, or raid-style battle-item setup. You can still use defensive or offensive consumables when a character needs them, but most geared characters should be able to clear the activity with a normal farming build.
Recommended Clear Route
- Check your Item Level. Open the entry menu and select the highest activity that provides rewards appropriate for your character. Do not automatically choose an older stage because its name is familiar.
- Confirm your Aura. Make sure the character has enough Aura of Resonance before entering. If you are planning to use a rested run, check the Rest Bonus displayed in the activity window.
- Equip a farming setup. Use skills with wide area coverage, short cooldowns, and dependable movement. A raid build may work, but it can be slower if it relies on long single-target animations.
- Enter alone. Current Western Chaos Dungeons and Kurzan Front instances are solo-only, so party composition is not part of the preparation process.
- Pull enemies into your damage zones. Grouping monsters before using large attacks generally clears faster than spending major cooldowns on scattered targets.
- Prioritize named or stronger enemies when they appear. They can contribute efficiently to the Purification Gauge and are usually worth including in your attack pattern.
- Use portals promptly in Chaos Dungeons. Once the stage objective is complete and the portal opens, move forward instead of waiting for every remaining monster.
- Finish the objective before leaving. The activity can consume Aura even if you exit early, so do not abandon a run because the first wave feels slow.
- Collect and review rewards. A pet can automatically collect ground loot. After the clear, check the completion panel and your inventory before honing or dismantling anything.
What Rewards Can You Get?
Chaos Dungeons and the Kurzan Front share a broad reward structure. Depending on the activity and your character’s progression bracket, rewards can include:
- Honing shards.
- Silver.
- Guardian Stones and Destruction Stones in the applicable current progression form.
- Cube Entry Tickets.
- Equipment-related drops.
- Ability Stones, accessories, or other older reward types only where the current activity version still permits them.
- Rare Fate Ember rewards.
- Completion rewards granted when the activity ends successfully.
Reward tables are not identical across all Item Levels. A Tier 3 Chaos Dungeon should not be judged by the same material quantities as a Tier 4 Kurzan Front. The entry panel is the best place to preview the current reward category before committing Aura.
Recent Western changes removed Gems, Accessories, Bracelets, and Ability Stones from the Kurzan Front and Chaos Dungeon reward pool in the affected activity update. Those items should not be treated as guaranteed daily drops. Fate Embers are also rare and are not guaranteed on every completion.
Weekly Purification for Chaos Dungeons
The Weekly Purification system gives Chaos Dungeons an additional weekly progression track. Eligible Chaos Dungeon runs add progress to a weekly meter, which grants extra shard and silver rewards when milestones are reached.
This system is exclusive to Chaos Dungeons rather than being a general reward track for every daily activity. It is useful for players who want more flexibility because the weekly meter allows some daily runs to be distributed across the week instead of treating every reset as a mandatory deadline.
Check the in-game Purification panel for the current meter, milestone, and remaining weekly progress. Official Western updates have changed the way purification points and reward chests are awarded, so older guides that quote a fixed number of points per run may no longer match the live interface.
Which Activity Should You Prioritize?
For a Tier 3 character
Run the highest Chaos Dungeon level that is appropriate for your Item Level and produces useful rewards for your current honing path. There is little value in repeatedly farming a much lower level simply because it is faster unless you are deliberately using the character for a specific secondary reward.
Spend the obtained shards and stones on your intended main before distributing materials to low-priority alts. If you are close to a honing breakpoint, complete the Chaos Dungeon first, review your inventory, and then decide whether the available materials are better used immediately or saved for another upgrade.
For a Tier 4 character
Use the Kurzan Front as your normal daily solo activity once it is available and appropriate for your Item Level. The main value is its contribution to Tier 4 progression and its place in the character’s daily material routine.
Keep the Kurzan Front separate from raids in your planning. It does not replace weekly raid clears, Una’s Tasks, Guardian content, or other sources of progression. It is one repeatable part of a larger endgame route.
For an alt roster
Do not force every alt through every daily activity. Use Rest Bonus on characters that are not central to your current progression plan, and prioritize non-rested runs on the main or on characters approaching an important Item Level threshold.
If the daily routine becomes the main obstacle to maintaining your roster, the Lost Ark Daily Bundle is the most relevant ExpCarry option to review because it is built around repeated daily tasks, including Chaos Dungeon clears.
Common Mistakes
- Using an outdated party guide. Current Western Chaos Dungeons and Kurzan Front content are solo-only, so old advice about matchmaking or support availability is no longer relevant.
- Entering below your best available level without a reason. Lower stages may be easier, but they can provide weaker progression value.
- Leaving after spending Aura. Aura is consumed on entry, and abandoning the run can lose both the resource and possible loot.
- Building only for single-target damage. These activities are wave-clearing content. Area damage and cooldown coverage usually matter more than raid burst.
- Waiting for a perfect group setup. There is no current party requirement for these instances.
- Assuming every listed reward drops every run. Fate Embers are rare, and reward pools vary by activity and Item Level.
- Following old material names. Consolidation and Tier 4 changes removed or unified several older honing materials.
- Spending all resources on an alt without a plan. Decide which character is receiving your next major upgrade before using bound materials.
- Ignoring the Purification meter. Chaos Dungeon clears can contribute to weekly rewards, so check the meter before deciding that a run has no additional value.
When Extra Assistance Makes Sense
Chaos Dungeons and the Kurzan Front are designed to be repeatable solo activities, but they can still become time-consuming across a large roster. If daily clears are delaying honing, raid preparation, or other progression tasks, you can review the current Lost Ark Chaos Dungeons service. Check the selected region, character requirements, and play method before ordering, since service availability and activity access depend on the character’s current progression.
For broader character development, the Lost Ark gear progression guide explains how daily materials fit into the wider Item Level route. Players returning after a long break can also use the ExpCarry Lost Ark blog to find related raid, progression, and system articles.
FAQ
Can you run Chaos Dungeons or the Kurzan Front with other players?
Not in the current Western version described here. Chaos Dungeons and the Kurzan Front were changed to solo-only instances, and their Find Party and matchmaking options were removed from the entry interface.
How often can you enter?
Each character can enter Chaos Dungeon or Kurzan Front content using its available Aura of Resonance. The official dungeon guide describes the activities as daily content, with Aura refreshing at server reset. The precise number of entries depends on how the activity consumes Aura and whether Rest Bonus or an applicable special effect is being used.
Should a new Tier 4 character still run Chaos Dungeons?
Usually, a Tier 4 character should use the Kurzan Front when it is available and appropriate for its Item Level. Use the entry menu to confirm the recommended activity and preview its rewards before entering.
Are Chaos Dungeons difficult?
They are generally less mechanically demanding than raids. The main challenge is efficient wave clearing, correct stage selection, and maintaining enough damage and mobility to complete the objective before the timer expires.
Do Chaos Dungeons drop guaranteed Fate Embers?
No. Fate Embers are rare bonus rewards and may not appear on every Chaos Dungeon or Kurzan Front completion.
