Need Help Progressing in TBC Classic?

Sethekk Halls is the eastern wing of Auchindoun and one of the most useful late leveling dungeons in Outland. Normal mode combines two straightforward bosses with strong level 68 gear and two quests from the entrance. Heroic mode adds Anzu, Badge of Justice farming, epic drops, and a chance at the Raven Lord mount. Blizzard's official Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary overview provides the wider progression context for this version of Outland.

This guide covers both difficulty settings, the entrance, access rules, route planning, dangerous trash, every boss, Anzu summoning, relevant quests, faction progress, Spirit Shards, and worthwhile drops. The final accuracy review for TBC Classic Anniversary was completed on August 7, 2026.

Sethekk Halls has a mostly linear layout, so navigation is simple. The real difficulty comes from tightly placed trash packs, dangerous control effects, and mechanics that punish uncontrolled damage. Heroic groups should plan crowd control before the first pull and decide who will remove magic debuffs and curses.

Sethekk Halls Location and Entrance

Travel to Auchindoun in the Bone Wastes of Terokkar Forest. Enter the Ring of Observance and take the eastern passage. The Sethekk Halls portal is near coordinates 43.3, 65.4. Isfar stands outside the entrance and offers the two main Normal quests.

No physical key or quest chain is needed to enter Normal Sethekk Halls. A character can enter at level 63, although the enemies and rewards are designed for a group closer to level 68. Heroic mode is intended for a complete level 70 party and uses a separate personal access requirement.

Heroic Access and Anniversary Alt Keys

Each character entering Heroic Sethekk Halls must be level 70 and have access to Heroic Auchindoun dungeons. The standard unlock requires Revered reputation with Lower City. At Revered, buy the Auchenai Key from Nakodu in the southern part of Shattrath City.

TBC Classic Anniversary also supports an account based shortcut for eligible alternate characters. After one character reaches Revered and unlocks the standard key, that character can buy the communal version from the quartermaster and mail the key to an alt. The Communal Auchenai Key is account bound and requires Friendly with Lower City on the character using it. The alternate character must still be level 70. This shortcut changes the reputation requirement for the receiving alt, but it does not allow lower level characters into Heroic mode.

Every Heroic boss drops a Badge of Justice. Talon King Ikiss also drops a guaranteed Primal Nether. A run without Anzu has two badge bosses, while a run with Anzu has three.

How to Get the Shadow Labyrinth Key

Sethekk Halls contains the physical key for the next Auchindoun wing. Complete a standard Normal run, defeat Talon King Ikiss, and open The Talon King's Coffer behind him to loot the Shadow Labyrinth Key. There is no separate quest chain for this key. Blizzard's official Outland attunement guide confirms that the key comes from the chest behind Ikiss.

Only one party member needs the physical key to open the Shadow Labyrinth door. Do not confuse it with the Auchenai Key. The Shadow Labyrinth Key opens a dungeon door, while the Auchenai Key grants personal access to Heroic Auchindoun instances.

Party Composition and Run Preparation

Start with a dedicated tank and healer, then fill the other three slots with damage dealers. Most enemies are Humanoids or Beasts, which makes Polymorph, Sap, Mind Control, Seduction, Hibernate, and Scare Beast particularly effective. One reliable control effect is enough for Normal, but two forms of control make Heroic pulls much safer.

  • Assign a player to destroy Charming Totems immediately.
  • Bring a magic dispel for Talon of Justice, Polymorph, and Slow.
  • Bring curse removal for Anzu's Spell Bomb.
  • Use Tremor Totem if a Shaman is available because an uncontrolled Fear can pull another pack.
  • Save burst area damage for Syth's elementals and Anzu's bird phases.
  • Choose a pillar before pulling Ikiss so every player knows where to hide.

If the group is missing an Anzu summoner or needs help completing the full route, the Sethekk Halls service can be considered as an alternative to repeated group searches. Players forming their own party should confirm Heroic keys, quest pickups, and Anzu access before traveling.

Route and Boss Order

  1. Move through the eastern halls and use crowd control on large Arakkoa packs.
  2. Defeat Darkweaver Syth.
  3. Free Lakka from the cage near Syth while the quest group is still together.
  4. Continue upstairs and clear the densely packed rooms one group at a time.
  5. Pick up The Saga of Terokk from the floor in the chamber before the final boss.
  6. On Heroic, summon and defeat Anzu in that chamber if a qualified Druid is present.
  7. Enter the final room and defeat Talon King Ikiss.
  8. On a Normal key run, open The Talon King's Coffer after Ikiss.

The route does not contain optional side corridors worth clearing. Avoid unnecessary packs along the room edges, but do not squeeze past enemies when a Fear or knockback could turn the skip into a multi pack pull.

Dangerous Trash and Kill Priority

Time-Lost Controller

Kill the Time-Lost Controller first. It summons a Charming Totem that can take control of a party member. Switch to the totem as soon as it appears, destroy it, and then return to the marked target.

Sethekk Oracle

Control or focus the Sethekk Oracle. Arcane Lightning damages and silences nearby players, so ranged characters and the healer should avoid stacking. Interrupt the Oracle when possible and do not place the entire party beside the tank.

Sethekk Prophet

The Sethekk Prophet is the most dangerous trash enemy. Keep it controlled and kill it last. When the Prophet dies, an Arakkoa Spirit appears and can instantly kill a nearby player. Everyone must move away from the corpse before the spirit materializes. The Prophet can also cast Fear, which is especially dangerous in the narrow halls.

Sethekk Talon Lord

The Sethekk Talon Lord uses Talon of Justice to stun the tank. Remove this magic debuff quickly so threat remains stable. Damage dealers should wait for the tank to recover instead of attacking unrestrained while the stun is active.

Darkweaver Syth Tactics

Darkweaver Syth is the first boss in both difficulties. He attacks the party with Arcane Shock, Flame Shock, Shadow Shock, and Chain Lightning. Spread far enough to limit Chain Lightning jumps, but remain close enough for healing and add control.

At roughly 75, 50, and 25 percent health, Syth summons four elementals. Stop damaging the boss at each threshold and kill every add before resuming. Pushing Syth through two thresholds at once creates eight active elementals and is the most common cause of a wipe.

Normal Strategy

The tank keeps Syth in one position while damage dealers change targets as soon as the elementals appear. Area damage is useful, but focused attacks are safer if the healer is under pressure. Save cooldowns for the final elemental wave and then finish the boss.

Heroic Strategy

Heroic elementals apply stacking vulnerabilities to their own magic schools. Their damage becomes increasingly dangerous if they survive. Use stuns, roots, slows, and immediate burst damage. Do not continue attacking Syth until the arena is clear, even if his remaining health is low.

Anzu Summon Requirements

Anzu is an optional Heroic boss located in the room before Talon King Ikiss. The encounter requires a Druid who can use the Essence-Infused Moonstone at the Raven's Claw. The moonstone is provided during Vanquish the Raven God, the final dungeon step of the Druid Swift Flight Form chain. Blizzard's official Anniversary Phase 2 overview confirms that the chain and Anzu encounter are available. After completing the quest, the Druid can obtain a permanent replacement through Eternal Vigilance and continue summoning Anzu on later runs.

Clear the entire room before using the moonstone. The summon point itself does not replace the Heroic access requirement, so every party member still needs a valid Heroic Auchindoun key.

Anzu Tactics

Anzu uses Paralyzing Screech, Flesh Rip, Dive, Spell Bomb, and Cyclone of Feathers. Keep the tank healthy before Paralyzing Screech because the party cannot respond while stunned. Spell Bomb is a curse. Remove it quickly, and the affected player must stop casting until it is gone because completed spells trigger heavy damage and mana loss.

At roughly three quarters and one third health, Anzu banishes himself and summons a Brood of Anzu. Kill every bird to end the banish early. Group the birds near the tank, control their movement, and use area damage. The healer should remain far enough away to avoid taking unnecessary melee hits during the gather.

Using the Three Bird Spirits

Three friendly spirits appear when the encounter begins. A Druid activates a spirit by keeping a healing over time effect on it. Rank 1 Rejuvenation or Regrowth is sufficient because the amount healed does not change the benefit.

  • Hawk Spirit grants Protection of the Hawk and reduces incoming damage.
  • Eagle Spirit attacks Anzu while its healing over time effect remains active.
  • Falcon Spirit increases movement, attack, and casting speed.

Maintain the Hawk Spirit first for survival. Activate the Eagle Spirit during bird phases so Anzu continues taking damage while banished. Maintain the Falcon Spirit when the Druid has enough time and mana. Anzu can drop the rare Reins of the Raven Lord, but the mount is not guaranteed.

Talon King Ikiss Tactics

Talon King Ikiss is the final boss. His core abilities are Arcane Volley, Polymorph, Slow, and a lethal Arcane Explosion. The room contains four pillars, and those pillars are the central mechanic of the encounter.

Tank Ikiss near the center while every player stays within a short path of the chosen pillar. When Ikiss Blinks, he immediately begins casting Arcane Explosion. Run behind a pillar and break line of sight before the cast completes. The explosion cannot be interrupted, so do not remain in view while attempting a stun or kick.

Normal Strategy

Keep safe routes to the pillars open and remove Polymorph if it affects a player needed for survival. After each Arcane Explosion, return to position and continue damage. Ranged players should not stand so far away that a Blink leaves them without reachable cover.

Heroic Strategy

Heroic damage leaves almost no room for a failed line of sight. Slow is especially dangerous because it can prevent a player from reaching cover, so dispel it immediately. Preserve movement abilities for a bad Blink location and prioritize survival over finishing the last few points of boss health.

Isfar offers Brother Against Brother and Terokk's Legacy outside the entrance. After Syth dies, free Lakka immediately because the rescue is not an escort. For Terokk's Legacy, loot both bosses and collect the book from the floor before Ikiss. Once Heroic dungeon dailies are active in the realm's content phase, the assignment rotates through several dungeons. Check Wind Trader Zhareem in Shattrath before entering.

The four necklace choices from Brother Against Brother are Mark of the Ravenguard, Sethekk Oracle's Focus, Talon Lord's Collar, and Torc of the Sethekk Prophet. Choose for the role the character will use, not only for the current specialization.

Lower City Reputation and Spirit Shards

Normal Sethekk Halls grants Lower City reputation from Neutral through 5999 of 6000 Friendly. A complete clear awards about 1035 reputation before bonuses, although the exact total can vary with the enemies killed. Normal enemies cannot supply the final point into Honored, so switch to quests, turn ins, Shadow Labyrinth, or Heroic difficulty at that cap.

Heroic Sethekk Halls awards Lower City reputation through Exalted. A full clear is worth roughly 2000 reputation before bonuses, with the final number affected by the route and whether Anzu is defeated. Heroic is therefore useful for finishing Revered and Exalted while also collecting badges and loot. Players planning a longer reputation grind can compare that route with a dedicated Lower City reputation service.

Auchindoun bosses can also drop Spirit Shards when one faction owns every Spirit Tower across the Bone Wastes. The standard Sethekk bosses award two shards each when that world objective belongs to the player's faction. Check tower ownership before entering if the group wants shard rewards.

Notable Normal Loot

Normal mode is valuable for level 68 gearing and several dungeon set pieces. The table focuses on drops that are commonly targeted rather than listing every item in the loot pool.

Notable Heroic Loot

Heroic bosses retain much of the Normal loot pool and add epic items. Anzu has a separate table, while Ikiss supplies the final boss epics and the guaranteed crafting material.

Common Mistakes

  • Pushing Syth through another health threshold while earlier elementals are alive.
  • Killing a Sethekk Prophet while players are standing beside its corpse.
  • Ignoring a Charming Totem and allowing a controlled party member to attack the group.
  • Forgetting to free Lakka after Syth.
  • Leaving the chamber before collecting The Saga of Terokk from the floor.
  • Starting the Anzu summon before every trash enemy in the room is dead.
  • Casting while affected by Spell Bomb.
  • Trying to interrupt Ikiss instead of breaking line of sight behind a pillar.
  • Assuming one Heroic key grants access to the entire party.
  • Confusing the Auchenai Key with the physical Shadow Labyrinth Key.

Pre Run Checklist

  • Confirm that every Heroic participant is level 70 and has personal Auchindoun access.
  • Pick up both Isfar quests before entering.
  • Check the rotating Heroic daily in Shattrath.
  • Bring a Druid with the moonstone if Anzu is part of the run.
  • Assign crowd control, magic dispel, curse removal, and Charming Totem duty.
  • Mark the Sethekk Prophet as the final target in dangerous packs.
  • Save area damage for Syth elementals and the Brood of Anzu.
  • Agree on an Ikiss pillar before the pull.
  • Collect the floor quest item before entering the final room.
  • Open the coffer after a Normal Ikiss kill if anyone needs Shadow Labyrinth access.

Final Verdict

Sethekk Halls is a compact dungeon with strong reasons to run both difficulties. Normal mode provides useful level 68 equipment, two efficient quests, Lower City reputation, and the key to Shadow Labyrinth. Heroic mode turns positioning and target control into strict requirements while adding badges, epic equipment, Anzu, and the rare Raven Lord mount.

The cleanest run depends on three decisions: control dangerous trash before it acts, stop damage for every Syth add wave, and treat the pillars as mandatory during Ikiss. Groups that also prepare a Druid summoner gain an extra boss without changing the main route.
