Take Your Star Citizen Progress Further

Reputation is Star Citizen’s main mission-progression system. It tracks your standing with NPC organizations and individual contacts, controls which contracts appear in the Contract Manager and unlocks higher ranks, mission chains, restricted opportunities and better-paying work.

This evergreen guide explains how reputation works, where to view it in Delphi, how organizations and mission givers differ, which major reputation tracks matter, how to farm reputation efficiently and how failures, abandoned contracts, criminal work and wipes affect progress. The permanent mechanics remain on this page, while the current-patch warning section can be updated after each major release.

What Reputation Does in Star Citizen

Reputation records the relationship between your character and an NPC organization or contact. Successful contracts increase standing. Failed, abandoned or expired contracts can reduce it. The result is a progression ladder based on reliability rather than only aUEC earned.

Reputation can affect:

  • which contracts appear in the Contract Manager;
  • access to higher mission difficulties and certifications;
  • mission-giver invitations and personal contract chains;
  • restricted locations, shops, equipment or rewards where implemented;
  • dialogue and treatment from individual contacts;
  • AI friendliness or hostility in reputation-enabled content;
  • access to lawful, unlawful or profession-specific work.

Reputation does not increase simply because you spend time near an organization. It normally changes through tracked mission outcomes, contracts, trades or reputation-enabled activities.

Where to Check Reputation: Delphi and Contract Manager

Two mobiGlas apps are central to reputation progress:

AppPurpose
DelphiDisplays organizations, contacts, standing, ranks and progress where supported.
Contract ManagerShows available Verified and Unverified contracts, the contract issuer, objectives, rewards and eligibility.

How to confirm which reputation a mission gives

  1. Open the Contract Manager.
  2. Select the mission before accepting it.
  3. Check the contract issuer or organization.
  4. Complete the mission.
  5. Open Delphi and confirm that the intended organization or contact moved.

This method is more reliable than following an old static list because contract distribution and active contacts can change through patches, events and server-side updates.

Organizations vs Mission Givers

Star Citizen tracks both organizations and individual contacts, but they do not work in exactly the same way.

Organization reputation

An organization is the company, guild, security service or faction issuing work. Examples include the Bounty Hunters Guild, Crusader Security, Covalex Shipping and InterSec Defense Solutions.

Organization ranks commonly control repeatable contract tiers and broad career progression.

Contact reputation

A contact is an individual mission giver. Contacts can invite you to a physical meeting, open a specialized chain and react to your standing. Examples include Constantine Hurston, Miles Eckhart, Clovus Darneely, Ruto and Tecia Pacheco.

Failing too many contracts for a contact can cause a temporary lockout. The current reputation implementation commonly uses a 24-hour period when a mission giver fires the player.

How Reputation Ranks Work

Rank names and thresholds vary by organization. Some use general titles such as Applicant, Rookie, Member, Experienced, Senior and Master. Others use career-specific titles or certifications.

The basic progression structure is:

  1. Complete an introduction, evaluation or certification when required.
  2. Run entry-level contracts from the same issuer.
  3. Fill the current rank through successful completion.
  4. Complete a promotion or certification if one appears.
  5. Unlock higher difficulty, larger contracts or a new mission family.

A full reputation bar does not always mean the next tier appears immediately. Some organizations require a separate certification, appointment or prerequisite.

Bounty Hunters Guild Reputation

The Bounty Hunters Guild is the clearest certification-based reputation ladder. Completing an evaluation or certification unlocks the corresponding bounty tier. Continued successful contracts raise standing toward the next test.

Fast bounty reputation method

  • Complete certification missions as soon as they appear.
  • Use the highest tier that you can finish reliably, not the highest tier you can barely survive.
  • Stage at a station near the current target cluster.
  • Use a ship with short claim and turnaround time for lower tiers.
  • Prioritize contract completion over cargo recovery when reputation is the goal.
  • Repair, refuel and rearm before accepting the next contract.

Common bounty reputation losses

  • accepting several timed contracts and completing none;
  • abandoning a certification after entering the chain;
  • continuing on an unstable server when targets repeatedly fail to spawn;
  • spending too long recovering optional loot;
  • using an oversized ship that makes every contract slower.

Reputation per hour is primarily successful completions per hour. A lower tier completed consistently can progress faster than a higher tier with frequent failures.

Security and Mercenary Reputation

Security and mercenary organizations offer combat contracts tied to jurisdictions, planets or private contractors. Typical activities include bunker clearance, protection, patrol, hostile-ship interception and support missions.

Major lawful security issuers

  • Crusader Security;
  • Hurston Security;
  • MT Protection Services;
  • Northrock Service Group;
  • InterSec Defense Solutions in Nyx.

Fast security reputation method

  1. Choose one jurisdiction for the session.
  2. Set your regeneration and ship staging point nearby.
  3. Select one or two stable mission archetypes.
  4. Carry enough FPS ammunition and medical supplies for several contracts.
  5. Return only when repair, inventory or ammunition requires it.

Travel between planets can consume more time than the missions themselves. Do not mix Crusader, Hurston, ArcCorp and microTech security work in one short grinding session.

Hauling Reputation

Hauling reputation uses dedicated logistics organizations and career ranks. Current interstellar hauling work can include direct A-to-B delivery, one pickup to several destinations, several pickups to one destination and modifiers such as combat exposure or illegal cargo.

Important hauling organizations

  • Covalex Shipping;
  • Red Wind Linehaul;
  • Ling Family Hauling;
  • Dead Saints for unlawful hauling where available.

Fast hauling reputation method

  • Pick one hauling organization and stay on that track.
  • Use a ship matched to the container size and destination type.
  • Prefer direct or low-stop contracts while learning the physical cargo flow.
  • Check freight elevators before committing to several linked missions.
  • Keep contract cargo separated and clearly placed on the grid.
  • Do not overfill the ship with several missions if one failure can block the entire load.
  • Standardize the same pickup, loading and delivery procedure.

A smaller ship can produce more reputation per hour if it loads, lands and unloads faster. Total SCU is not the only performance metric.

Nyx and InterSec Reputation

Star Citizen Nyx reputation and InterSec mission progression

Nyx now has multiple mission packs and organization-specific progression. InterSec Defense Solutions offers contracts to operators in Nyx and is central to security activity involving former QV facilities, hostile organizations and Vanduul technology.

Achieving the InterSec Jr. Contractor rank unlocks additional work, including contracts such as Neutralize UEE Threat and Vanduul Tech Smugglers.

How to farm Nyx reputation

  • Use Levski or a suitable Nyx station as a staging point.
  • Run contracts from the same Nyx organization instead of mixing every issuer.
  • Confirm organization movement in Delphi after the first contracts.
  • Complete required introductory work before expecting Breaker Station access.
  • Carry FPS equipment and a ship with interior storage for resource contracts.
  • Account for longer travel and asteroid-belt navigation.

Nyx Mission Pack 2 expanded contract archetypes and organizations and added reputation scopes to relevant factions. Use the current Contract Manager rather than assuming every Nyx mission increases the same track.

Wikelo Reputation

Wikelo uses a separate trade-based reputation system. Reputation is earned by completing selected Wikelo collection and barter contracts rather than normal security or hauling missions.

The current customer ranks are:

  • New Customer;
  • Very Good Customer;
  • Very Best Customer.

Higher Wikelo reputation unlocks additional trade contracts and high-value rewards. Favors are a physical barter currency, but owning Favors alone does not replace the required customer rank.

For the complete system, use the Wikelo Ship List and Wikelo Favors Guide.

Individual Mission Givers and Locations

Mission-giver availability can change. Treat the invitation in mobiGlas and active Contract Manager offers as the final confirmation.

ContactTypical location or accessGeneral role
Constantine HurstonLorville, Central Business DistrictHurston-related personal contracts
Miles EckhartLorville, M&V Bar in the Workers DistrictCombat and bounty-style contract chains
Clovus DarneelyLorville, Reclamation & DisposalRecovery, cleanup and salvage-adjacent work
Wallace KlimGrimHEXUnlawful and specialized contracts
RutoGrimHEX terminal or holographic contactUnverified contract chain
Tecia PachecoArea18Criminal and specialized contracts
VaughnUnverified Contract Manager chainIllegal assassination-style progression

Do not travel to a physical mission giver until you have the appointment or active mission step. A historical location does not guarantee that the contact is currently enabled for your character.

Verified vs Unverified Reputation

The Contract Manager separates offers into two broad categories:

  • Verified: contracts from recognized organizations and official sources.
  • Unverified: work from unofficial, criminal or questionable issuers.

Unverified missions can build criminal-contact reputation while creating CrimeStat, hostility and conflicts with lawful organizations. Read the issuer and mission description before accepting.

Rules for unlawful reputation farming

  • Use a separate session plan for illegal work.
  • Prepare a CrimeStat, surrender or escape strategy.
  • Do not carry more equipment or cargo than you can replace.
  • Plan the sale or delivery location before accepting.
  • Avoid mixing lawful and unlawful contracts that send you through the same jurisdiction.
  • Stop after repeated server or objective failures.

What Causes Reputation Loss?

Negative reputation can result from:

  • mission failure;
  • abandoning accepted work;
  • allowing a timed contract to expire;
  • killing protected targets or allies;
  • destroying required cargo or mission objects;
  • failing several contracts from the same contact;
  • working against an organization in content where opposing relations are implemented.

Not every server-related mission disappearance applies a reputation penalty. However, unless an official known-issues notice states otherwise, assume that normal failure or abandonment can affect standing.

How to Recover Lost Reputation

  1. Stop accepting missions from the affected issuer until the cause is understood.
  2. Wait for any temporary mission-giver lockout to expire.
  3. Complete available lower-risk contracts from the same organization.
  4. Take required re-evaluation or certification missions when offered.
  5. Avoid additional abandonment while the standing is low.
  6. Confirm recovery in Delphi after each successful contract.

Character Repair does not reset or fix reputation. If progress appears technically broken, search the Issue Council and contribute to an existing report.

Reputation and Wipes

Reputation is part of Long Term Persistence when CIG preserves that database. However, a comprehensive wipe can reset all organization and mission progression.

Alpha 4.8 launched with a comprehensive wipe that reset reputation progression alongside earned aUEC, in-game vehicles, items, resources and certain in-game rewards. Blueprints and account-entitled items or vehicles were preserved.

Because future wipe scope can differ, check the official patch announcement before assuming reputation will survive a major release.

Fastest Reputation Farming Strategy

1. Pick one primary track

Choose bounty, security, hauling, Nyx or another organization and stay with it long enough to trigger the next rank.

2. Pick one backup track

Use a different gameplay dependency:

  • bounty plus hauling;
  • security plus courier;
  • hauling plus FPS mercenary;
  • Nyx security plus Wikelo material gathering.

If AI spawning is broken, switch to logistics. If freight elevators are unstable, switch to combat.

3. Optimize completion rate

Your real KPI is not payout per contract. It is successful contracts per hour without reputation loss.

  • Use one mission at a time when stability is poor.
  • Choose the closest reliable mission cluster.
  • Use the smallest ship that completes the job.
  • Carry supplies for several runs.
  • Stop a mission archetype after two repeated technical failures.

4. Complete certifications immediately

A certification or promotion can be the actual gate to the next tier. Do not continue filling the old bar while ignoring the unlock mission.

5. Separate reputation grinding from looting

Loot only when it does not threaten the timer or next completion. A profitable detour can reduce reputation per hour.

Current Alpha 4.8 Reputation Warnings

This section should be updated after major patches without changing the page URL.

  • Exiting the game can make mission history appear blank. Completed mission credit remains; the issue is visual.
  • Evict Illegal Occupants can fail because target NPCs do not spawn.
  • Repel Raid on Orison targets may not spawn. RSI advises players not to accept it because failure or abandonment can damage Crusader Security reputation.
  • Underground facilities may not display a trespass warning. After turning in relevant missions, leave the location promptly.
  • Character Repair does not repair or reset reputation.

When an official known issue can cause reputation loss, remove that mission from the grinding route until it is fixed.

Common Reputation Mistakes

Grinding several organizations at once

Progress becomes slow because no individual rank reaches its unlock threshold.

Accepting every available mission

More accepted contracts create more timers, failure points and abandonment risk.

Using payout as the only metric

A high-paying mission with a long travel path can give worse reputation progress per hour.

Ignoring the contract issuer

Two similar missions can improve different organizations.

Assuming all Nyx missions give one reputation

Nyx contains multiple organizations and scoped reputation tracks.

Confusing Wikelo Favors with reputation

Favors are physical barter items. Customer rank is separate progression.

Trying to fix reputation with Character Repair

The account tool does not reset reputation.

Star Citizen Reputation FAQ

How do I check reputation?

Open the Delphi app in mobiGlas. Use the Contract Manager to identify the organization issuing each mission.

How do I increase reputation?

Complete contracts, trades or reputation-enabled activities for the same organization or contact.

What is the fastest reputation farm?

Run one stable mission type for one organization in a compact region. Completion rate and low travel time matter more than the highest payout.

Can failed missions reduce reputation?

Yes. Failure, abandonment and expiration can reduce standing depending on the contract.

How long can a mission giver lock me out?

The current implementation commonly uses a 24-hour lockout after a mission giver fires the player for repeated failures.

Does Character Repair reset reputation?

No. RSI explicitly states that Character Repair does not resolve or reset CrimeStat and reputation.

Does reputation survive a wipe?

Only when the reputation database is preserved. Alpha 4.8 reset reputation as part of its comprehensive wipe.

Does Wikelo use reputation?

Yes. Wikelo has New Customer, Very Good Customer and Very Best Customer ranks earned through selected trades.

Do Unverified missions give reputation?

Some criminal contacts and organizations use reputation progression. The exact issuer and consequences should be checked before accepting.

Why did my mission history disappear?

In Alpha 4.8, logging out can visually clear mission history. Fully completed mission credit remains.

Final Reputation Plan

  1. Open Delphi and choose one organization.
  2. Find its contracts in the Contract Manager.
  3. Stage near the mission cluster.
  4. Run the highest tier that you can complete reliably.
  5. Complete certifications or promotions immediately.
  6. Stop after repeated technical failures.
  7. Use a backup loop with different technical dependencies.
  8. Confirm rank progress in Delphi.

Reputation farming is a completion-rate problem, not a ship-price problem. Focus one organization, reduce travel, avoid broken contracts and protect successful mission streaks.
