The Tempest's Weapons in WoW Forever: Shaman Quest and Rage of the Storm

The Tempest's Weapons in WoW Forever: Shaman Quest and Rage of the Storm

The Tempest's Weapons concludes a Shaman class quest chain available from level 30 in WoW Forever. It takes you through Razorfen Kraul, four Twisted Totem farming areas and an elite ritual in Thousand Needles before rewarding a choice of Rage of the Storm, Lightning's Grasp or Tidebringer's Claw. This guide covers the October 2026 beta as of October 14, including the October 8 farming improvements. The chain is obtainable at the current level-30 beta cap, but its later enemies reach approximately level 40. Several Horde database handoffs remain inconsistent, so those uncertainties are identified where they affect your route.

Short answer: Complete Call of Air, obtain the Tattered Note from Charlga Razorflank, collect five Twisted Totems of each element and finish Heed My Call in Thousand Needles. Deliver the Eye of the Tempest to Bath'rah the Windwatcher in Alterac Mountains, then choose the weapon suited to your build.

The Tempest's Weapons Requirements and Quest Order

You need a level-30 Shaman and the preceding Air Totem progression. Alliance and Horde have separate quest records and different contacts, but both routes lead to the same three weapon choices.

The final quest is listed at level 40 with a minimum requirement of 30. These numbers describe different things: level 30 unlocks the quest, while the higher quest level reflects its difficulty. No profession or reputation requirement is listed for the weapon hand-in.

Shaman weapon quest progression in WoW Forever

Call of AirComplete the Air Totem quest available from level 30.Horde visits Prate Cloudseer; the Alliance route leads to Veyric Thunderhame.
Elemental AidDefeat Charlga Razorflank in Razorfen Kraul and collect the Tattered Note.Separate Horde and Alliance quest records.
Eyes on the SkySpeak with Prate Cloudseer in Thousand Needles.Listed in the Horde chain; absent from the checked Alliance series.
Storm, Earth, and FireCollect five each of the Water, Earth, Fire and Air Twisted Totems. The Horde objective names Prate; the Alliance objective names Veyric.
Heed My CallUse the supplied Corrupted Totems at the steam pools and obtain the Eye of the Tempest. Both versions involve the Thousand Needles ritual.
The Tempest's WeaponsDeliver the Eye of the Tempest to Bath'rah the Windwatcher. Both factions finish in Alterac Mountains.

Prepare a dungeon group for Razorfen Kraul and additional help for the later outdoor objectives. At the current beta cap, postponing the ritual until level 40 is not an available solution; completing it at level 30 requires dealing with a substantial level disadvantage. This restriction applies to the beta, not the planned level-60 game at launch.

Starting NPCs for Horde and Alliance Shamans

Start with your faction's Call of Air progression. Bath'rah is the final weapon contact, so traveling directly to him does not replace the earlier quests.

Alliance: Eldrun Stormbreaker and Veyric Thunderhame

The checked Alliance route begins with Eldrun Stormbreaker in Ironforge. Call of Air sends you to Veyric Thunderhame in the northern Arathi Highlands, around 59.6, 27.6. Some quest text calls him Veyric Thundervein; the NPC record uses Thunderhame.

Complete the Air Totem step, then accept Elemental Aid from Veyric. He is also the Alliance contact for the subsequent totem collection and ritual stages. The Alliance quest IDs are 94789 for Call of Air, 96264 for Elemental Aid, 79358 for Storm, Earth, and Fire, 96135 for Heed My Call and 96016 for The Tempest's Weapons.

Horde: Prate Cloudseer and Rau Cliffrunner

The Horde Call of Air objective sends you to Prate Cloudseer in Thousand Needles. The familiar Orc, Tauren and Troll route and the separate Windshaper Skyborne quest record both name Prate as the destination. Complete your character's version before looking for the weapon-chain follow-up.

Beta player reports place Elemental Aid immediately after the Air Totem quest. Its Horde database entry lists both Prate and Rau Cliffrunner among the starting contacts, while completion fields also contain conflicting Rau and Bath'rah references. Check Prate after completing Call of Air, then follow the NPC named in your accepted quest log. Rau is at Freewind Post, approximately 46.1, 51.7.

The recorded Horde sequence is Elemental Aid, Eyes on the Sky, Storm, Earth, and Fire, Heed My Call and The Tempest's Weapons. Their IDs are 79360, 79364, 79361, 79366 and 79442 respectively. Eyes on the Sky explicitly directs you to Prate, and the totem-collection objective also names Prate.

Some route databases insert With Wind Beneath Your Wings and an earlier trip to Bath'rah. That detour could not be verified as a mandatory step for every character in the current Forever chain. Follow it if your active quest log offers it; do not add the journey solely because a third-party route includes it.

Elemental Aid: Tattered Note in Razorfen Kraul

Elemental Aid requires information from Charlga Razorflank, the final boss of Razorfen Kraul. Accept the quest before your run and check the boss's loot for the Tattered Note.

  1. Confirm that Elemental Aid is active. Completing Call of Air alone does not finish this dungeon objective.
  2. Enter Razorfen Kraul with your party. Check that the group is running RFK; Razorfen Downs is a different dungeon.
  3. Defeat Charlga Razorflank and loot the Tattered Note. Each questing Shaman should confirm their own objective before leaving.
  4. Return to the indicated contact. Alliance returns to Veyric in Arathi Highlands. Horde should use the turn-in shown in its active quest because the public records disagree.
  5. Accept the next stage. Horde has Eyes on the Sky in its recorded series; Alliance proceeds to the totem-collection stage.

The dungeon step does not award Rage of the Storm directly. Leaving after Charlga gives you the information needed to continue, not the final weapon.

Storm, Earth, and Fire: All 20 Twisted Totems

Storm, Earth, and Fire requires 20 quest items: five Water, five Earth, five Fire and five Air Totems. You also receive The Walks of Shaman, a book associated with the collection stage. These dropped items are separate from the normal elemental totems used to cast your class spells.

Twisted Totem farming areas and approximate reference points
Quest itemAmountZone and targetsMap reference
Twisted Water Totem5Mirefin murlocs along northeastern Dustwallow Marsh; Mirefin Oracle is a recorded source.Dreadmurk Shore, around 58.4, 12.6
Twisted Earth Totem5Lost Ones in Swamp of Sorrows. Ongeku was added as a source in the October 8 notes.Fallow Sanctuary, around 58.7, 25.7
Twisted Fire Totem5Stonevault troggs in the Badlands; the October 8 update also added Murdaloc and Dustbelcher ogres.Agmond's End, around 50.3, 68.3, for the trogg area
Twisted Air Totem5Maraudine centaurs in Desolace, including Windchasers; Maraudine Scouts were added in the October 8 notes.Valley of Spears, around 31.7, 57.4

The coordinates identify approximate farming areas, not guaranteed individual spawns. Each linked item page provides its recorded drop sources. Use those records to identify the correct creatures, but do not treat their displayed aggregate percentages as a reliable estimate for an eligible Shaman on the quest.

What Changed on October 8?

Blizzard increased the relevant creatures' respawn frequency and made Twisted Totems drop more often. The additional sources broaden your options, especially for Fire Totems. Larger Badlands camps such as Dustbelch Grotto received faster respawns; the notes explicitly exclude smaller camps from that particular respawn improvement.

No official numerical drop rate was provided. There is therefore no defensible fixed kill count or completion-time promise for collecting all 20 items.

Plan the Farm Around Your Travel and Group

Dustwallow Marsh and Desolace are the Kalimdor stops; Swamp of Sorrows and the Badlands are the Eastern Kingdoms stops. Grouping the two stops on each continent can reduce unnecessary crossings, but your available flight paths and faction contact determine which order is convenient.

Several recorded sources are well above level 30. Check enemy levels before committing to a camp and bring help if necessary. In the Badlands, compare the newly eligible Dustbelcher groups with the higher-level Stonevault targets rather than assuming every source is equally manageable.

Before returning, verify all four counters separately. Twenty total items are insufficient if one element is still short. When farming with other Shamans, check how quest-item loot is distributed: a dropped Twisted Totem should not be assumed to count for every group member. Alliance delivers the collection to Veyric; the Horde objective names Prate, subject to the quest-log handoff caveat above.

Heed My Call: Thousand Needles Ritual

After the collection stage, Heed My Call supplies Corrupted Totems for the ritual. Its objective is to disrupt the quilboar's work and recover the Eye of the Tempest. The quest text directs you to the steam pools in Thousand Needles, west of Freewind Post.

The exact activation coordinate could not be independently verified from current Forever sources. Use your active quest's marked area and the Corrupted Totems' location requirement. Freewind Post's coordinates identify the nearby Horde hub, not the ritual's activation point.

  1. Accept Heed My Call and confirm that Corrupted Totems are in your bags. The collected Twisted Totems and the supplied event item belong to different stages.
  2. Assemble your group before activating the event. Recover Health and Mana, and confirm that every Shaman seeking the Eye has the correct quest active.
  3. Use the supplied item at the steam pools. Follow the quest's placement requirement.
  4. Defeat the event enemies. Beta reports describe successive elemental waves and a final fight involving an elite quilboar and an elite water elemental around level 40.
  5. Loot the Eye of the Tempest. Every eligible Shaman should check their own inventory and objective before the party leaves.
  6. Report back to your faction's quest contact. Alliance returns to Veyric; the Horde quest text names Rau Cliffrunner.

At level 30, plan this as a difficult group encounter. Assign someone to hold enemies away from the healer, keep enough Mana for recovery and avoid beginning while other party members are still traveling. These are preparation recommendations, not a claim that one fixed party size guarantees completion.

Eye of the Tempest Multi-Drop Fix

Blizzard's October 8 notes explicitly changed the Eye of the Tempest for Heed My Call to multi-drop. Older comments saying only one Shaman can receive it from a kill describe earlier beta behavior.

The change concerns the Eye. It does not establish that every Twisted Totem collected during the previous stage is automatically awarded to every party member. Check each player's collection progress separately, even if you are completing the chain in a group.

Quest Map References and Bath'rah's Final Turn-In

Once you accept The Tempest's Weapons, take the Eye of the Tempest to Bath'rah the Windwatcher in Alterac Mountains. He stands around 80.4, 66.8 on the Alterac Mountains map. The NPC links below open the relevant Forever location records and map references.

Rau Cliffrunner — Thousand Needles46.1, 51.7Freewind Post contact named in Horde quest records and the ritual return text.
Bath'rah the Windwatcher — Alterac Mountains80.4, 66.8Final weapon hand-in for both factions.

Select the correct zone map before using a coordinate pair. Prate's location is reached through the surrounding terrain rather than by treating a straight line to the marker as a walkable route. The map references are approximate navigation aids, not a measured travel-time route.

At Bath'rah, make sure you are turning in The Tempest's Weapons: Horde quest 79442 or Alliance quest 96016. Compare the rewards before confirming your choice.

Rage of the Storm and the Other Weapon Rewards

The three weapons are item-level-40, bind-on-pickup rewards. Their item level is separate from the chain's level-30 acceptance requirement and should not be confused with a level-40 character requirement. The table below records the currently indexed Forever tooltips; beta values and listed effects can change before release.

The Tempest's Weapons reward statistics
WeaponDamage and speedAttributesListed equip effects
Rage of the StormTwo-handed mace; 94–141 damage; 3.30 speed; 35.61 DPS+15 Stamina
+12 Intellect
Increases Stormstrike damage by 10%.

Tidebringer's ClawMain-hand fist weapon; 30–57 damage; 2.40 speed; 18.13 DPS+5 StaminaUp to +86 healing and +28 spell damage; +2% critical strike chance for Healing Wave and Lesser Healing Wave.

Which Weapon Should You Choose?

Enhancement: Rage of the Storm is the weapon designed around melee damage and Stormstrike. Compare its damage range and speed with your current two-hander. In Forever, Two-Handed Axes and Maces has moved from the Enhancement talent tree to baseline Shaman abilities. Older weapon references show 3.60 speed, a different damage range and +16 Intellect; those are not the values in the currently indexed tooltip.

Elemental: Lightning's Grasp supplies the larger general spell-damage bonus of the two fist weapons and a Lightning Bolt-specific critical strike bonus. Its low melee DPS does not measure its value for a ranged caster.

Restoration: Tidebringer's Claw provides the stronger healing bonus and additional critical strike chance for the two named healing spells. Compare it with your existing healing weapon and the off-hand you intend to use.

These recommendations follow the listed item effects, not a measured DPS or healing simulation. For talents and how the weapons fit each specialization, use the WoW Forever Shaman guide.

Elementalist's Guard and the Horde Reward Discrepancy

The Alliance quest record explicitly awards Elementalist's Guard in addition to the selected weapon. Its indexed tooltip shows 1,078 Armor, 20 Block, +9 Stamina, +6 Intellect and 2 Mana restored per 5 seconds. It is an item-level-40, bind-on-pickup shield.

Player reports and Wowhead's overview describe a shield alongside the weapon reward. However, the Horde quest entry displays Rune of the Storm instead, and the shield's item page associates it with Alliance. The additional Horde reward therefore remains inconsistent across sources. Check your actual in-game reward window rather than assuming that Horde automatically receives Elementalist's Guard or that the displayed database reward is final.

The shield fits a one-handed weapon setup. You cannot equip it at the same time as Rage of the Storm. The two fist weapons are main-hand caster options; their presence does not unlock Dual Wield.

Missing Quests, Totem Drops and Reward Checks

Most useful troubleshooting starts with the exact stage you have accepted. A missing follow-up, an incomplete collection counter and a failed ritual are separate problems.

  • Elemental Aid is unavailable: check that your character is level 30 and has completed its Call of Air quest. Horde players should check Prate and the Rau handoff shown by their current quest state.
  • The farm gives no progress: confirm that Storm, Earth, and Fire is active, that the creatures are recorded sources and that the relevant element is still below five. In a group, check who actually receives each quest item.
  • The ritual item cannot be used: confirm that you have Heed My Call and its supplied Corrupted Totems, then check the steam-pool placement area.
  • Another Shaman received the Eye but you did not: check your own quest eligibility and loot. The official multi-drop change does not replace the prerequisite chain.
  • A route sends you to an unexpected NPC: use the accepted quest's objective and completion marker. Horde database fields contain conflicting contacts.
  • A reward differs from a screenshot: compare the current in-game tooltip and faction-specific reward window. Record the beta build and report a discrepancy rather than assuming an older image describes the current item.

The Tempest's Weapons FAQ

These answers cover additional questions about eligibility, weapon access and the class-quest rewards.

Can Warriors complete this chain for Rage of the Storm?
No. This is a Shaman class chain. Bath'rah also appears in Warrior progression, but sharing a final NPC does not make the Shaman rewards available through the Warrior quest.

Can I buy Rage of the Storm on the Auction House?
The item is recorded as bind on pickup. Its documented acquisition route is the Shaman quest reward, not an Auction House purchase.

Do I have to play Enhancement to complete the quest?
No specialization restriction is listed. The reward choices support melee damage, spell damage and healing, so choose according to the role and equipment you want.

Can I choose both fist weapons or take a second weapon later?
The final quest offers one weapon choice. The checked records do not establish a repeatable reward-selection or exchange system, so select with your intended build in mind.

Conclusion

Accept the dungeon step before entering Razorfen Kraul, finish all four totem counters and organize help before activating the Thousand Needles ritual. At Bath'rah, use the current reward tooltips to make your choice and verify the additional reward shown for your faction. Recheck these details if Blizzard changes the beta chain or item rewards before launch.
