World of Warcraft: Forever retains the faction-based PvP experience of Classic while introducing individual Rank Point progression, seasonal objectives, new gear upgrades, and a new 15v15 Battleground. This collection brings together practical guides for the different systems without treating Honor, Rank Points, Marks of Honor, and reputation as interchangeable rewards.
WoW Forever PvP Guides and Resources
Choose a guide based on the information you need. The general PvP guide explains the overall system, the ranking guide focuses on individual rewards and requirements, and the Darkspear Islands walkthrough covers a specific Battleground.

WoW Forever PvP Progression at a Glance
Blizzard's redesigned PvP system separates rank progression from the currency used to purchase rewards. Understanding these systems helps you choose the right activities and avoid farming the wrong resource.
| System | Purpose | Important Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Rank Points | Advance through PvP Ranks 1–14. | Progress is limited by the current season week's rank cap. |
| Honor Points | Purchase eligible PvP equipment and other vendor rewards. | The October 1 beta update increased the holding cap to 25,000 Honor. |
| Battleground Marks | Meet requirements for certain Battleground-related purchases. | Each Battleground awards its own Mark type. |
| Battleground Reputation | Unlock faction equipment and reputation rewards. | Reputation is tied to the relevant Alliance or Horde faction. |
| PvP Season Journey | Complete weekly objectives for additional progression. | Some milestones also award account-wide Legacy Points. |
Honor does not directly increase your PvP rank. Rank Points determine ranking progress, while Honor is spent on purchases. Spending Honor therefore does not reduce the Rank Points you have earned.

WoW Forever Battlegrounds
Battlegrounds combine PvP combat with objectives that determine the winner. Different maps reward different kinds of coordination, so defeating opposing players is only part of a successful match.
| Battleground | Format | Primary Objective |
|---|---|---|
| Warsong Gulch | 10v10 | Capture the enemy flag and protect your own. |
| Arathi Basin | 15v15 | Control bases to earn resources. |
| Alterac Valley | 40v40 | Complete large-scale faction objectives and defeat the opposing general. |
| Darkspear Islands | 15v15 | Hold capture points and use a central flag to increase your team's score. |
These Battlegrounds serve different progression goals, including Honor, Marks, faction reputation, and seasonal tasks. Confirm queue availability and level brackets in the live client, as pre-release testing availability does not establish the final launch schedule.
Darkspear Islands: New 15v15 Battleground
Darkspear Islands is the new WoW Forever Battleground off the coast of Dustwallow Marsh. Blizzard has confirmed that it supports levels 30–60, features four capture points and a central flag, and ends when a team reaches 2,000 points.
Holding more bases increases your team's passive score. The central flag adds another objective that can reward coordinated movement between controlled locations. This makes base defense, communication, and timely rotations more important than focusing exclusively on player kills.
The map also introduces separate faction reputations: Darkspear Raiders for Horde and Theramore Expeditionary Force for Alliance. Their standing rewards provide another reason to participate beyond Honor farming.
Our Darkspear Islands Battleground Guide covers the map, known objective locations, current reward data, and practical strategies for defenders, flag carriers, and rotating players.
For the officially confirmed map rules, see Blizzard's Darkspear Islands announcement.
PvP Ranks 1–14 and Reward Unlocks
WoW Forever uses 14 familiar PvP ranks, culminating in Grand Marshal for Alliance and High Warlord for Horde. Unlike the original competitive Vanilla ranking system, individual progress is not determined by whether other players on your realm earned more Rank Points during the same week.
Higher ranks unlock equipment and other rewards. The official progression includes an early PvP trinket, additional equipment, Battle Standards, rank-gated Emboldened Seals for upgrading rare armor, mounts, and epic PvP weapons at Rank 14.
The weekly rank cap prevents players from immediately reaching the maximum rank at the beginning of a season. Exact planning depends on the progression rules active when the season begins.
See our PvP Ranks & Rewards Guide for detailed rank requirements, upgrade slots, and the current pre-release reward information.
Honor, PvP Gear, and Battleground Marks
Honor is a spendable currency earned through PvP activities, while Battleground Marks may be required for specific purchases. Equipment planning should account for both resources rather than assuming Honor alone is sufficient.
Forever introduces a rare PvP armor set that can be upgraded to epic quality using rank-gated Emboldened Seals. These upgrades are earned progressively rather than unlocked in full at the start of a season.
Blizzard increased the beta Honor holding cap from 15,000 to 25,000 on October 1 and adjusted the Honor costs of many PvP items and upgrade tokens. Because these values can change again before or after launch, check the current vendor cost before committing to a farming plan.
Our PvP Guide explains the currency system, while the Ranks & Rewards Guide provides the detailed equipment progression requirements.
PvP Reputation and Seasonal Legacy Progress
Battleground reputation is separate from Honor and Rank Points. Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin, Alterac Valley, and Darkspear Islands each have faction-linked reputation rewards.
Reputation targets may unlock equipment, mounts, cosmetics, and account-wide Legacy Challenges. Choose the relevant faction based on the reward you actually need instead of treating every Battleground reputation grind as mandatory.
WoW Forever also introduces a seasonal PvP Journey with weekly tasks. Blizzard has confirmed that three Journey tasks per season reward Legacy Points, in addition to their regular progression rewards. The exact objectives should be checked against the active season.
For a broader explanation of reputation systems, use our WoW Forever Reputations Guide.
Choosing a PvP Class and Preparing for Battlegrounds
Different Battleground objectives reward different class strengths. Mobility helps with flag movement and rotations, crowd control helps protect objectives, and reliable healing can extend a team's ability to hold a capture point.
A class that performs well in small fights may not be equally effective in a coordinated large-scale Battleground. Your preferred role, available equipment, and group composition matter alongside raw damage output.
Consult our WoW Forever Class Tier List for class comparisons and specialization considerations. The final level 60 PvP meta should be evaluated using live encounters rather than beta predictions alone.
