Need Help Progressing in WoW?

Jewelcrafting is a Retail crafting profession in World of Warcraft: Midnight. It is not a gathering profession, Cooking, or Fishing. Jewelcrafters cut gems, prospect ore, crush uncut gems, create rings and amulets, produce profession equipment and reagents, and craft several Housing Décor items. It is one of the strongest professions for players who want to support gear upgrades, fill sockets, complete crafting orders, or participate in the Auction House economy.

Jewelcrafting Profession Overview

Midnight Jewelcrafting uses ores and uncut gems as its main inputs. Prospecting converts Midnight ore into uncut gems and useful byproducts such as Duskshrouded Stone and Crystalline Glass. Crushing converts uncut gems into Crushed Gemstones, which are used in multiple Jewelcrafting recipes.

The profession’s main product categories are:

  • Cut gems: Gems such as Flawless Versatile Garnet, Flawless Quick Peridot, Flawless Masterful Lapis, and other stat-specific cuts.
  • Eversong Diamonds: Unique-equipped gems, including Powerful Eversong Diamond, Indecipherable Eversong Diamond, Stoic Eversong Diamond, and Telluric Eversong Diamond.
  • Rings and amulets: Equipment created for Crafting Orders and personal use, including Masterwork Sin'dorei jewelry and other Midnight accessories.
  • Profession equipment: Jewelcrafting tools and accessories, as well as equipment used by other professions.
  • Profession reagents: Items such as Sunglass Vial and other components required by crafters.
  • Housing Décor: Decorative items including the Bejeweled Sin'dorei Lyre, Brilliant Phoenix Harp, Resplendent Highborne Statue, and Shining Sin'dorei Hourglass.

Jewelcrafting has a Midnight skill range of 1–100. Trainer recipes are designed to take you comfortably through the early and middle portion of the profession, while the final levels require more expensive gem cuts, profession equipment, jewelry, or Crafting Orders.

Is Jewelcrafting Worth It in Midnight?

Jewelcrafting is worth choosing if you want a flexible crafting profession with several different markets. It is particularly useful for characters who regularly upgrade gear, players who enjoy completing public or personal Crafting Orders, and Auction House crafters who can monitor gem and reagent demand.

The main advantage is variety. You are not restricted to one item type. You can specialize in cut gems, craft equipment for customers, prospect ore, sell reagents, or pursue Housing Décor. This makes Jewelcrafting more adaptable than a profession that relies on only one endgame recipe.

The main disadvantage is the cost of leveling and specialization. Gem crafting consumes valuable materials, and the best recipes require substantial Knowledge investment. Competition can also be intense because many players purchase the same popular stat gems. A new Jewelcrafter should not assume that every craft is profitable.

Jewelcrafting is a good choice for:

  • Players who also have Mining or access to inexpensive ore.
  • Players willing to research Auction House demand before crafting.
  • Crafters who want to serve customers through Crafting Orders.
  • Players interested in profession equipment and gem markets.

It is less suitable for players who want a low-cost profession with guaranteed income. Leveling to 100 can require a major investment, especially if you rely on high-end gem cuts instead of customer-provided reagents.

How to Learn Jewelcrafting

Travel to a Midnight Jewelcrafting trainer in Silvermoon and learn the Midnight version of the profession. If you have never learned Jewelcrafting before, you may need to learn the basic profession first. Profession skill is divided by expansion, so older Jewelcrafting skill does not replace Midnight Jewelcrafting skill.

Midnight trainers include Amin, Aleinia, and Kalinda in Silvermoon. Open the profession trainer’s dialogue and learn both Jewelcrafting and the available trainer recipes. You can also open the profession window to see the current skill range, recipes, specialization requirements, and First Craft rewards.

Specializations become available after reaching Jewelcrafting skill 25. Knowledge cannot be spent in the specialization interface before reaching that profession skill threshold.

How to Level Jewelcrafting

Jewelcrafting leveling is not completely fixed. A recipe can become yellow or green, and some crafts may fail to award a skill point. For this reason, keep extra materials available rather than buying only the exact listed amount.

The most efficient approach is to combine trainer recipes with First Crafts. Craft every new recipe at least once when the cost is reasonable. First Craft bonuses can provide Knowledge and Artisan Jewelcrafter's Moxie, making unfamiliar recipes valuable even when they are not the cheapest source of skill points.

Trainer recipes are generally effective through approximately skill 65. After that point, the profession becomes considerably more expensive and the best path depends on your specialization, available recipes, gold budget, and whether other players can supply Crafting Orders.

Skill 1–12: Prospecting

Begin by prospecting Midnight ore. The recommended early route uses 55 Midnight Ore for 11 Prospecting crafts. Prospecting can produce uncut gems as well as Duskshrouded Stone and Crystalline Glass, giving you materials for later recipes.

Skill 12–15: Sunglass Vial

Craft Sunglass Vial using Crystalline Glass and Duskshrouded Stone. This is a trainer recipe and helps convert prospecting byproducts into skill points.

Skill 15–21: Quick Peridot or Versatile Lapis

Use Harandar Peridot and Glimmering Gemdust to craft Quick Peridot. Versatile Lapis is an alternative if its materials are cheaper on your realm. Check the recipe color before committing to a large batch.

Skill 21–30: Copper Bands and Nocturnal Charms

Craft Gleaming Copper Band with Refulgent Copper Ore and Duskshrouded Stone. Nocturnal Charm, made with Umbral Tin Ore and Duskshrouded Stone, is another trainer option. These recipes are useful because they consume different materials and can be selected according to current Auction House prices.

Skill 30–65: Monologuer's Chalice

Monologuer's Chalice uses Crystalline Glass and remains a practical trainer recipe through the middle levels. It eventually becomes yellow and then green, so the number of crafts required can vary. Do not discard Crystalline Glass while leveling; it is one of the most important early Jewelcrafting materials.

Skill 66–100: Choose a specialization-based route

There is no single cheap route for the final levels. Profession equipment can be mass-crafted if you have the recipe and materials. Eversong Diamond cuts are a straightforward option and can provide skill points into the later levels, but the recipes and materials may be expensive. Rings and amulets are slower but can be leveled through Crafting Orders, especially when customers provide the reagents.

If you are not in a hurry, use First Crafts, newly learned gem cuts, reagent recipes, and customer orders to progress naturally. This is usually safer than buying a large amount of expensive material and hoping to recover the cost through Auction House sales.

Materials and Shopping List

The following materials support the recommended early leveling path:

MaterialPrimary use
Midnight OreProspecting for uncut gems and byproducts
Crystalline GlassSunglass Vial and Monologuer's Chalice
Duskshrouded StoneEarly reagents, bands, charms, and profession equipment
Harandar PeridotQuick Peridot
Glimmering GemdustGem cuts and other Jewelcrafting recipes
Refulgent Copper OreGleaming Copper Band
Umbral Tin OreNocturnal Charm

The quantities required after skill 65 depend on the route you choose. Gem cutting requires uncut gems and supporting reagents, equipment recipes may require profession materials and other crafted components, and jewelry can involve expensive endgame materials. Before purchasing anything, decide whether you are leveling through gems, equipment, jewelry, or Crafting Orders.

Jewelcrafting Specializations and Knowledge Points

Midnight Jewelcrafting has four specialization trees:

  • Thoughtful Throughput: General Jewelcrafting statistics and efficiency.
  • Glamorous Gems: Cut gems and Eversong Diamond crafting.
  • Alluring Accessories: Rings, amulets, and profession equipment.
  • Proficient Processor: Prospecting, crushing, and processing materials.

All four trees can eventually be completed, but gaining enough Knowledge Points takes time. The complete specialization system requires 774 Knowledge Points: 120 for Thoughtful Throughput, 310 for Glamorous Gems, 150 for Alluring Accessories, and 194 for Proficient Processor.

Thoughtful Throughput

Thoughtful Throughput improves the foundations of the profession. Its branches provide bonuses to Ingenuity, Concentration, Crafting Speed, Multicraft, and Resourcefulness. These benefits apply broadly across Jewelcrafting and are useful regardless of whether you primarily cut gems or craft jewelry.

Glamorous Gems

Glamorous Gems is the main gem-cutting tree. It is divided by gem type, so you must decide which cuts to prioritize. Investing deeply into one gem family is generally better than spreading points across several types because specialization increases skill and unlocks higher-end recipes.

Alluring Accessories

Alluring Accessories improves rings, necklaces, and profession equipment. Its major branches include Regal Rings, Luxurious Lockets, and Crafting Couture. Choose one equipment category first if you want to become a reliable high-quality crafter for customers.

Proficient Processor

Proficient Processor supports Prospecting and Crushing. It is the natural choice for players who want to process ore, supply uncut gems to other Jewelcrafters, or produce the Crushed Gemstones needed for many recipes.

Knowledge Point Sources

The most important early Knowledge sources are First Craft bonuses and profession Knowledge treasures. First Craft rewards appear in the crafting journal when available. Crafting each unique recipe once can provide useful Knowledge and profession currency while also revealing which markets are accessible to you.

Do not spend Knowledge immediately on every available branch. Reach skill 25, inspect the complete specialization trees, and choose a goal. Knowledge is most valuable when concentrated into a recipe family that you intend to sell or complete for customers.

Knowledge-gated recipes do not always follow normal trainer skill requirements. If a recipe is learned through a specialization branch, its availability depends on the required Knowledge investment rather than only the displayed profession skill.

Best Specialization Paths by Goal

GoalRecommended focus
Sell popular cut gemsThoughtful Throughput, then Glamorous Gems and one gem family
Craft rings and amuletsThoughtful Throughput, then Alluring Accessories
Craft profession equipmentThoughtful Throughput, then Crafting Couture
Process ore for profitThoughtful Throughput, then Proficient Processor
Use Concentration efficientlyThoughtful Throughput with Ingenuity-focused bonuses and the appropriate craft tree

For most players, a small early investment in Thoughtful Throughput is sensible because its bonuses affect every Jewelcrafting recipe. After that, commit to one commercial product rather than trying to provide every gem, ring, and reagent at once.

Profession Stats, Tools, and Gear

Jewelcrafting uses four primary crafting statistics:

  • Ingenuity: Helps conserve Concentration when crafting.
  • Resourcefulness: Gives a chance to use fewer reagents.
  • Multicraft: Gives a chance to produce additional items.
  • Crafting Speed: Reduces the time required to complete crafts.

Ingenuity is especially valuable for Concentration-based high-quality crafts. Multicraft is attractive when mass-producing gems or reagents. Resourcefulness is useful when materials are expensive, while Crafting Speed matters most to players who produce large batches.

Jewelcrafting profession equipment includes tools and accessories such as Sin'dorei Jeweler's Loupes and Mage-Eye Precision Loupes. Choose equipment according to your specialization rather than automatically purchasing the highest item level option.

Tool enchants can also be matched to your activity. Enchant Tool - Ren'dorei Ingenuity supports Concentration crafting, Enchant Tool - Haranir Multicrafting supports mass production, and Enchant Tool - Amani Resourcefulness is suited to prospecting and reagent-saving strategies.

Important Recipes and Crafts

Cut Gems

Standard gems provide secondary-stat options such as Deadly, Masterful, Quick, and Versatile. Examples include Flawless Deadly Peridot, Flawless Masterful Peridot, Flawless Quick Peridot, Flawless Versatile Peridot, and comparable Lapis, Amethyst, and Garnet cuts.

Because customers generally want the best quality available, specialization skill is important. Concentration can help bridge a quality gap, but it should be reserved for crafts where the final value justifies the cost.

Eversong Diamonds

Eversong Diamonds are Midnight’s unique-equipped gem category. Important recipes include Indecipherable Eversong Diamond, Powerful Eversong Diamond, Stoic Eversong Diamond, and Telluric Eversong Diamond. Their recipes are associated with Midnight dungeon content and are among the more direct ways to raise Jewelcrafting after the trainer route.

Jewelry

Jewelcrafting creates rings and amulets for Crafting Orders. Masterwork Sin'dorei Band and Masterwork Sin'dorei Amulet are specialization-linked examples. Other jewelry recipes include Gleaming Copper Band, Nocturnal Charm, Loa Worshiper's Band, Thalassian Phoenix Torque, and Voidstone Shielding Array.

Reagents and Décor

Sunglass Vial is an early trainer recipe and can also be sold as a profession reagent. Housing Décor adds another market, including the Bejeweled Sin'dorei Lyre, Brilliant Phoenix Harp, Replica Haranir Mural, Resplendent Highborne Statue, Shining Sin'dorei Hourglass, and Tenebrous Ren'dorei Armillary.

Making Gold with Jewelcrafting

Gold-making depends on supply, demand, quality, and your ability to control material costs. Do not craft an item simply because it is listed in a guide. Check the Auction House, compare the price of finished goods with the cost of materials, and account for failed quality attempts, Concentration, and market competition.

Sell popular cut gems

Stat gems are usually the most visible Jewelcrafting market. Focus on the cuts used by current class and specialization builds, but avoid learning every gem branch at the beginning. A concentrated specialization is more likely to produce competitive quality than a broad but shallow setup.

Offer Crafting Orders

Rings, amulets, and profession equipment can generate steady income through Crafting Orders. Customers may provide some or all of the expensive reagents, reducing your risk. Advertise the specific craft quality you can reliably produce rather than promising every item.

Process materials

Proficient Processor can support an ore-processing business. Buy ore only when the expected value of the gems, stone, glass, and crushed materials exceeds the purchase price. Prospecting results are variable, so evaluate several batches rather than judging the method from a single craft.

Sell reagents

Profession reagents can have more consistent demand than luxury jewelry. Sunglass Vial and other commonly used components may sell quickly when other professions are leveling or crafting in bulk.

Use First Crafts intelligently

First Craft bonuses can provide Knowledge and Artisan Jewelcrafter's Moxie, making one-time crafts valuable. When a recipe has a reasonable material cost, completing its First Craft may be more profitable than repeatedly producing one low-margin item.

Best Profession Pairings

Mining is the strongest pairing for Jewelcrafting. Mining supplies ore for Prospecting and reduces dependence on the Auction House. It also lets you prospect materials gathered during normal questing and world content.

Enchanting is useful for players who want to supply their own tool enchants and maintain another crafting market. Alchemy, Inscription, or Tailoring can also work if you prefer two crafting professions, but you will need a reliable source of ore and gems.

For a dedicated gold-making character, Mining and Jewelcrafting provide the most direct material loop. For a main character, Jewelcrafting can be paired with any profession that complements your class, playstyle, or existing market network.

Common Jewelcrafting Mistakes

  • Spending Knowledge everywhere: Concentrate early points on one product category.
  • Buying materials before choosing a route: The requirements for gem cutting, jewelry, and processing are different.
  • Ignoring First Crafts: New recipes can reward Knowledge and profession currency.
  • Assuming exact shopping lists are guaranteed: Yellow and green recipes may require extra crafts.
  • Using Concentration on low-value crafts: Save it for profitable high-quality items.
  • Trying to sell every gem: Market demand is uneven, and some cuts may remain unsold.
  • Neglecting Crafting Orders: Customer-provided reagents can make expensive endgame leveling far more manageable.
  • Overlooking Prospecting byproducts: Duskshrouded Stone, Crystalline Glass, and crushed materials all have uses and should be included in cost calculations.

Practical Jewelcrafting Tips

  • Learn Midnight Jewelcrafting before purchasing large quantities of materials.
  • Keep Crystalline Glass, Duskshrouded Stone, and Glimmering Gemdust instead of selling every byproduct.
  • Use the crafting journal to identify available First Craft rewards.
  • Choose a specialization based on your intended customers, not on the name of the most expensive recipe.
  • Use Mining if you want to lower leveling costs or process your own ore.
  • Compare raw ore value with the value of the gems and reagents produced by Prospecting.
  • Craft one product family deeply before opening several competing specialization branches.
  • Reserve Ingenuity-focused gear and enchants for Concentration-based crafts.
  • Use Multicraft gear when producing large numbers of gems or reagents.
  • Use Resourcefulness when reagent prices are high or when prospecting and processing are your main activities.
  • Check quality requirements before accepting a Crafting Order.
  • Do not rush from skill 65 to 100 unless the resulting recipes have a clear purpose. The final levels are expensive, and a slower First Craft and order-based route can preserve a large amount of gold.
