Alchemy is a crafting profession in World of Warcraft: Midnight. Alchemists can also create group cauldrons that provide consumables to multiple players at once.

Midnight Alchemy also supports several less traditional markets:

Alchemy has no gathering route of its own. Your efficiency depends on buying or obtaining the correct reagents, choosing a specialization early, and using your profession stats and Concentration carefully.

Is Alchemy Worth It in Midnight?

Alchemy is worth choosing if you regularly use consumables or want a profession with several possible markets. Potions, flasks, and phials are needed throughout an expansion, particularly when new raid tiers, Mythic+ seasons, PvP seasons, and major events begin.

It is also one of the strongest professions for players who want personal utility. Spending Knowledge Points in the base Flask specialization can unlock the double-duration flask benefit, reducing the number of flasks required for regular play.

Alchemy is less attractive if you want a simple, guaranteed gold-making profession. Consumable markets are competitive, and popular recipes can quickly approach the value of their materials. Profit usually comes from timing, specialization, Concentration, Multicraft, and finding recipes with consistent demand rather than crafting everything available.

How to Learn Midnight Alchemy

Visit an Alchemy trainer in Silvermoon City or another Midnight profession hub. The main Silvermoon Alchemy trainer is Camberon. Camberon also stands beside Camberon’s Cauldron, the location used for Alchemy research and recipe Discovery.

If you have never learned Alchemy, learn the basic profession first and then select the Midnight version. Expansion professions are separate skill tracks, so previous-expansion Alchemy skill does not replace your Midnight Alchemy skill.

After learning the profession:

1. Open the profession window and confirm that Midnight Alchemy is active.
2. Learn the available trainer recipes.
3. Buy or gather the basic vials and reagents needed for early crafts.
4. Craft the recipes that provide skill points and First Craft bonuses.
5. Visit Camberon’s Cauldron whenever new research becomes available.
6. Unlock specializations after reaching the required profession skill.

Midnight changes the usual Alchemy recipe system. Trainer recipes are largely obtained by skill 15, so later progress depends heavily on Discovery and specialization recipes rather than simply waiting for the trainer to offer another recipe at a higher skill threshold.

How to Level Alchemy

Alchemy skill increases when you craft recipes that can still award skill points. The most efficient approach is to combine trainer recipes, First Craft bonuses, discovered recipes, and specialization crafts instead of repeatedly making one item without checking its skill-up color.

First Crafts are particularly important. They provide profession Knowledge and can also grant experience while your character is below maximum level. When leveling, inspect the profession journal for recipes marked with a First Craft bonus and use those crafts before spending large amounts of materials on repeated production.

Recipe Discovery is also part of the leveling process. Midnight Alchemy no longer relies on completely random discovery. Instead, you complete crafting achievements or requirements, then research eligible recipes at Camberon’s Cauldron.

For example, crafting healing potions can unlock the research requirement for Light’s Potential. Once the achievement is complete, research the recipe at the cauldron and use it for further skill progression.

Leveling Alchemy from 1 to 50

The early skill range can be completed using trainer recipes and a small number of specialty crafts. A verified starter shopping list for the commonly recommended route includes:

• 244 Tranquility Bloom
• 60 Argentleaf

Light’s Potential is generally preferred for the final part of the early route because it does not depend on a transmutation cooldown and is usually easier to produce than flask or transmutation alternatives.

Leveling Alchemy from 51 to 100

Progress beyond skill 50 depends more heavily on specialization, recipe access, and the price of materials. The recommended craft changes according to your chosen focus:

• Potion specialization: Use Light’s Potential where it remains skill-positive and economical.
• Flask specialization: Use Flask of the Shattered Sun if its material cost is competitive.
• Transmutation specialization: Use Wondrous Synergist, particularly when you can make use of the transmutation cooldown.

Skill gains become less predictable near skill 100. Before committing to a large batch, compare the material cost of each recipe and check whether crafting orders can provide a cheaper route. Crafting for other players can still provide skill points when the order uses an eligible recipe.

Do not automatically follow a static shopping list for the entire expansion. Auction House prices, specialization bonuses, recipe availability, and the value of the finished item can change. The cheapest leveling route on one region may be expensive on another.

1. Learn Midnight Alchemy from Camberon or another profession trainer.
2. Craft the inexpensive trainer recipes available at skill 1.
3. Complete First Craft bonuses whenever they appear.
4. Craft the healing potions needed to qualify for Light’s Potential research.
5. Research new recipes at Camberon’s Cauldron as crafting achievements unlock them.
6. Reach skill 25 so that specialization trees become available.
7. Spend early Knowledge Points on the specialization that matches your intended market.
8. Use Light’s Potential, Flask of the Shattered Sun, or Wondrous Synergist for the later skill range.
9. Use Concentration only when the quality increase or expected sale value justifies it.
10. Recheck the Auction House before every large crafting session.

Recycle unwanted potions and flasks when you need Stabilized Derivate. This reagent is important for learning many recipes, crafting cauldrons, and performing transmutations. Recycling destroys the item, so only recycle spare or low-value consumables.

Materials and Shopping List

Midnight Alchemy uses a mixture of vendor components, gathered herbs, motes, crafted reagents, and profession-specific materials. The most important early materials include Sunglass Vials, Tranquility Bloom, Argentleaf, Azeroot, Oil of Heartwood, and Mote of Light.

As you progress, expect to use materials associated with four broad categories:

• Vials and containers: Sunglass Vial and other required crafting containers.
• Herbs: Argentleaf, Azeroot, Tranquility Bloom, and other Midnight herbs.
• Motes and essences: Mote of Light, Mote of Primal Energy, Mote of Pure Void, and Mote of Wild Magic.

Do not stockpile every herb before choosing a specialization. Potion and flask recipes use different material combinations, and transmutation recipes may become cheaper when unwanted materials are available. Buy enough materials for the next group of crafts, then reassess the market.

Alchemy Specializations and Knowledge Points

Midnight Alchemy has four specialization trees:

Specializations unlock at profession skill 25. You eventually have access to every tree, but Knowledge Points arrive gradually, so your first spending decisions affect your early performance.

The complete Midnight specialization trees require 520 Knowledge Points in total:

• 170 points for Potion Prowess.
• 170 points for Fluent in Flasks.
• 90 points for Transmutation Authority.
• 90 points for Alchemical Mastery.

Knowledge Point Sources

The main Knowledge Point sources are First Craft bonuses and profession Knowledge treasures. First Craft bonuses are shown in the profession journal when available. Midnight also includes eight profession treasures that provide up to 24 additional Knowledge Points in total.

Complete your First Crafts regularly instead of waiting until you have maxed skill. The Knowledge gained from early, inexpensive recipes helps unlock the production tree that will later make leveling and gold-making cheaper.

Alchemical Mastery applies to every Alchemy craft. Its branches include bonuses associated with general skill and Resourcefulness, along with focused improvements for reagents and transmutations, potions, or flasks and phials. Even if you specialize in potions or flasks, placing some points in Alchemical Mastery is usually worthwhile.

Best Specialization Paths by Goal

Best Path for Potion Crafting

Begin with Potion Prowess if you want to produce Light Potions, Void Potions, healing potions, or other combat consumables. The tree supports potion skill, crafting speed, Multicraft, and increased yield.

Choose one potion branch first rather than spreading points across both Light and Void options. A focused build reaches useful production bonuses sooner. After establishing your potion branch, invest in Alchemical Mastery for general skill and Resourcefulness.

Best Path for Flasks and Phials

Choose Fluent in Flasks if your priority is raid flasks, Mythic+ consumables, or profession phials. The tree improves flask and phial skill, crafting speed, yield, and Concentration efficiency.

For personal utility, unlock the early Fluent in Flasks benefit that provides double-duration flasks. For gold-making, progress toward the Sin’dorei Specialist and Flask Abundance portions of the tree, which improve the value of Multicraft-focused production.

Best Path for Transmutations

Choose Transmutation Authority if you want to convert materials or produce Wondrous Synergist. This path is especially suitable for an alt that logs in regularly to use transmutation charges.

Transmutation Authority also supports the Magister’s Alchemist Stone and other transmuted reagents. Because transmutations are cooldown-based, this specialization pairs well with players who do not want to maintain a large crafting operation every day.

Best General-Purpose Path

Start with the production category you use most, then place points in Alchemical Mastery. Avoid spending points randomly across every branch. Early specialization is stronger when it reaches a meaningful node rather than leaving several trees partially developed.

Profession Stats, Tools, and Gear

Alchemy can benefit from all four crafting stats, but the most useful choices depend on what you craft:

• Multicraft: Gives a chance to produce extra items and is strong for potions, flasks, phials, reagents, and transmutations.
• Ingenuity: Gives a chance to save Concentration and is valuable when producing maximum-quality items with limited Concentration.
• Resourcefulness: Gives a chance to use fewer materials and is useful for long-term production.
• Crafting Speed: Reduces the time needed to complete crafts and is convenient for large batches.

For mass production, prioritize Multicraft. For Concentration-based maximum-quality crafting, prioritize Ingenuity. Once your skill, specialization, and gear are strong enough to craft maximum-quality items without Concentration, Resourcefulness can become more attractive than Ingenuity.

Alchemists equip one tool and two accessories. The Midnight options include:

Epic-quality gear provides the best profession stats. High-quality tools and accessories may require Crafting Orders because some recipes are bind on pickup. Use Enchant Tool - Haranir Multicrafting for general mass production, or Enchant Tool - Ren’dorei Ingenuity when your main goal is saving Concentration.

Alchemy can also craft Haranir Phial of Ingenuity, which temporarily increases crafting stats. Optional reagents such as Multicraft Matrix and Multicraft Manifold can be useful on expensive crafts when the expected additional output is worth the cost.

• Multicraft production: Craft large batches when extra output makes the recipe profitable.
• Transmutation cooldowns: Use Transmutation Authority to produce Wondrous Synergist or convert materials.
• Raid launches: Stock consumables before raid progression and major season releases.
• Crafting Orders: Complete customer orders for high-quality Alchemist Stones, cauldrons, and specialty crafts.

Mining and Alchemy can also work when transmutation recipes use ore-derived materials or when you want to sell gathered materials and purchase only the herbs required for your chosen crafts.

Fishing and Alchemy is useful when fish participate in Midnight transmutation or reagent conversion markets. This is a more specialized pairing and depends on the current value of fish and transmuted materials.

Inscription or Tailoring can complement Alchemy on an alt network. Inscription produces Alchemy mixing rods, while Tailoring creates Alchemy coveralls. Leatherworking is another useful partner because it crafts Alchemist headgear and mixcaps.
