CS2 Mirage Guide 2026: Callouts, Positions & Premier Strategy

CS2 Mirage Guide 2026: Callouts, Positions & Premier Strategy

Mirage is one of the current CS2 Premier maps and one of the clearest examples of why Mid control matters in Counter-Strike. A Ramp and Palace attack A, Apartments attacks B, and Mid connects both bombsites through Connector, Short, Window and Underpass.

The map is easy to understand but difficult to play well because losing Mid gives the opponent several rotation and split options at once.

Mirage in one sentence: control Mid, pressure Window and Connector, then use that space to split A through Connector or B through Short instead of relying on predictable five-man site rushes.

Is Mirage in CS2 Premier?

Yes. Mirage remains part of the current seven-map Premier pool:

  • Ancient;
  • Anubis;
  • Cache;
  • Dust II;
  • Inferno;
  • Mirage;
  • Nuke.

See the current CS2 Premier Map Pool.

What Changed on Mirage in 2026?

Mirage did not receive a major layout redesign during 2026.

On September 22, Valve reinforced the scaffolding beside Balcony on A Site.

The main competitive structure therefore remains familiar: Mid connects Connector toward A and Short toward B, while Underpass creates another route between Apartments and Mid.

Mirage Map Structure

Think of Mirage as three connected lanes:

  • A: A Ramp and Palace;
  • Mid: Top Mid, Window, Connector, Underpass and Short;
  • B: Apartments and Short.

Mid is what turns those three lanes into a flexible map instead of two separate bombsites.

Why Mid Control Is So Important

Mid is the strategic hinge of Mirage.

When Ts control Mid they can threaten:

  • Connector → A;
  • Short → B;
  • Underpass pressure;
  • Window;
  • CT rotations;
  • late switches between sites.

Without Mid control, T rounds often become predictable A Ramp/Palace or B Apartments executes.

Window

Window is the strongest central CT information position.

An AWP here can see Top Mid and influence Connector, Short and Underpass-related movement.

For Ts, removing Window pressure is usually the first step toward a structured Mid take.

Connector

Connector links Mid directly to A and Jungle.

When Ts control Connector:

  • A defenders become vulnerable from another direction;
  • Jungle loses freedom;
  • rotations become harder;
  • an A split becomes much stronger.

Short / Catwalk

Short connects Mid to B.

Control here creates a B split with Apartments and also prevents CTs from freely rotating between Window, Short and B.

Underpass

Underpass connects the Apartments side of the map to Mid.

It is useful for:

  • late Mid pressure;
  • flanking Window;
  • changing a B setup into Mid control;
  • punishing aggressive CT rotations.

How to Take Mid as T

A basic Mid take:

  1. remove or reduce Window vision;
  2. flash the first Mid angles;
  3. move players toward Boxes/Top Mid;
  4. contest Connector;
  5. establish Short control when possible;
  6. leave one player able to watch Underpass or rotations.

The purpose is not to rush through Connector immediately. Mid control gives you options.

What to Do After Winning Mid

Ask:

  • Did the Window player fall back to Jungle?
  • Is Connector weak?
  • Is Short open?
  • Did B rotate a player toward Mid?
  • Can Palace or Apartments become the second entry?

Do not waste Mid control by immediately taking a bad solo duel.

How to Attack A on Mirage

A has three useful pressure routes:

  • A Ramp;
  • Palace;
  • Connector.

A simple Ramp + Palace execute works, but a Mid-based Connector split is much harder to defend.

A Ramp

A Ramp is the main ground-level T entrance.

CT incendiary utility can delay a fast hit, so do not send every player into the same chokepoint without support.

Palace

Palace gives Ts an elevated entrance into A.

The Palace player can:

  • pressure Stairs;
  • clear Balcony-related angles;
  • punish CTs focused on Ramp;
  • create vertical pressure during a site hit.

Tetris

Tetris is the collection of boxes immediately outside A Ramp.

It is an important staging position because Ts can take site fights without exposing every player at once.

Stairs and Jungle

Stairs and Jungle form a strong CT support structure.

If both remain active during the execute, entries can be exposed to overlapping angles.

Ticket / CT

Ticket is another common A defensive position and a major rotation route from CT Spawn.

Triple and Firebox

These site positions must be part of the A clear.

Do not focus entirely on Jungle and CT while ignoring defenders already inside the bombsite.

Simple A Execute

  1. apply enough Mid or Connector pressure to limit rotations;
  2. isolate CT/Jungle/Stairs as required by the plan;
  3. flash over A;
  4. activate Ramp;
  5. activate Palace at similar timing;
  6. clear Triple, Firebox and Sandwich;
  7. plant for controlled post-plant positions.

Mid + A Split

This is stronger than a pure Ramp + Palace execute.

One group attacks through:

  • Ramp/Palace;

while another reaches:

  • Connector.

The A defenders now need to watch three directions instead of two.

How to Defend A

A defenders should support each other rather than taking isolated fights.

Useful defensive relationships include:

  • Stairs + Jungle;
  • Ticket + Site;
  • Site + Palace information;
  • Connector support from Mid.

How to Attack B on Mirage

A pure five-player Apartments rush is easy to punish with utility and crossfires.

B is much stronger when Ts combine:

  • Apartments;
  • Short;
  • Mid control.

B Apartments

Apartments is the main T route into B.

The first player can immediately face several angles, including:

  • Van;
  • Bench;
  • Site;
  • Market;
  • Short.

That makes flashes and trade spacing essential.

Van

Van is one of the classic close B defensive positions.

Clear it before focusing only on Market.

Bench

Bench provides another strong B anchor or post-plant position.

Market

Market is one of the main CT rotation and retake areas.

Players also call it Kitchen.

Simple B Execute

  1. establish Apartments control;
  2. create Mid/Short pressure if possible;
  3. isolate Market or other rotation lines;
  4. flash over B;
  5. enter Apartments together;
  6. clear Van and close Site;
  7. clear Bench and Back Site;
  8. plant for Apartments or Short positions.

Apartments + Short B Split

This is one of the strongest B structures.

B defenders must divide their attention between:

  • Apartments;
  • Short;
  • possible Market pressure.

Why B Rushes Fail

  • first player cannot be traded;
  • Van is not cleared;
  • everyone exits Apartments through the same line;
  • no Short pressure exists;
  • Market remains completely open;
  • the bomb is planted before Back Site is controlled.

Best T-Side Default on Mirage

A practical default:

  • one player holds A Ramp;
  • one controls Palace or A-side information;
  • two players work Mid/Underpass;
  • one controls Apartments or acts as the flexible player.

The purpose is to keep all three lanes credible.

CT Setup on Mirage

A common starting setup is approximately 2-1-2:

  • two A-side players;
  • one Mid player;
  • two B-side players.

The Mid player can operate from Window, Connector or Short depending on the round.

Why the Mid Player Matters

The Mid defender connects the entire CT setup.

Useful information includes:

  • number of players Top Mid;
  • Window smoke;
  • Connector pressure;
  • Short pressure;
  • Underpass movement.

Window AWP

Window is one of Mirage's most famous AWP positions.

The important skill is knowing when to fall back.

If Window is smoked and Ts control Connector/Short, repeatedly forcing the same peek can turn one lost angle into a lost round.

CT B Defense

B anchors should delay rather than always hunt for kills.

Utility in Apartments can buy time for:

  • Short support;
  • Market rotation;
  • Window/Connector players to reposition.

CT Rotations

Mirage rewards fast rotations, but over-rotating is dangerous because Mid gives Ts multiple late-round paths.

Before leaving a site, ask:

  • was the bomb seen?
  • how many opponents were confirmed?
  • is Mid controlled?
  • could a Palace or Apartments lurker still be active?

Mirage Retakes

Retakes are stronger when teammates regroup and clear the bombsite in a consistent order.

On A, pay attention to:

  • Ramp;
  • Palace;
  • Tetris;
  • Firebox;
  • Connector.

On B, check:

  • Apartments;
  • Bench;
  • Van;
  • Short;
  • Back Site.

Mirage in Solo Queue

Mirage rewards players who communicate simple information well.

Useful calls:

  • “Two Top Mid.”
  • “Window smoked.”
  • “One Connector.”
  • “Three B Apps.”
  • “One Palace.”
  • “Last Market.”

Mirage With a Duo or Stack

Coordinated players can use:

  • Window smoke + Connector pressure;
  • Ramp + Palace A executes;
  • Mid + Connector A splits;
  • Apartments + Short B splits;
  • Underpass lurks;
  • fake A utility into a B finish;
  • late Mid retakes on CT.

Utility to Learn First

Exact grenade lineups belong on a dedicated Mirage Smokes page. For the main map guide, prioritize the targets:

  • Window Smoke;
  • Connector Smoke;
  • Jungle Smoke;
  • Stairs Smoke;
  • CT Smoke;
  • Market Window / Market isolation;
  • A Ramp CT incendiary;
  • B Apartments anti-rush utility;
  • A and B entry flashes.

Common Mirage Mistakes

  • ignoring Mid every round;
  • throwing Window smoke but never taking Mid;
  • five-man rushing A Ramp;
  • five-man rushing B Apartments;
  • not clearing Firebox or Van;
  • allowing Connector to remain uncontested;
  • Window player repeatedly re-peeking after losing control;
  • rotating from sound alone;
  • planting before the site is cleared;
  • using all CT utility too early.

How to Practice Mirage

  1. learn A Ramp, Palace, Mid and Apartments;
  2. walk Top Mid → Connector → A;
  3. walk Top Mid → Short → B;
  4. practice Underpass routes;
  5. learn one basic A execute;
  6. learn one B split;
  7. practice CT rotations;
  8. add exact smoke lineups afterward.

Mirage Practice Checklist

  • A Ramp;
  • Palace;
  • Tetris;
  • Triple;
  • Firebox;
  • Stairs;
  • Jungle;
  • Ticket;
  • Top Mid;
  • Window;
  • Connector;
  • Underpass;
  • Short;
  • Ladder Room;
  • B Apartments;
  • Van;
  • Bench;
  • Market.
Bottom line: Mirage is a Mid-control map. Window controls the opening information, Connector opens A, Short opens B, and Underpass gives Ts another route to break predictable defenses.
