CS2 Premier Leaderboard Explained: World, Regional & Top 1000

CS2 Premier Leaderboard Explained: World, Regional & Top 1000

The CS2 Premier leaderboard ranks the highest-rated Premier players by CS Rating across the World and seven regions. The World leaderboard contains the Top 1,000 players globally, while regional leaderboards track the highest-rated eligible players in Africa, Asia, Australia, China, Europe, North America and South America.

There is no permanent CS Rating requirement such as “30,000 always guarantees Top 1000.” The cutoff changes during the season as players gain and lose rating.

Quick answer: to appear on a public CS2 Premier leaderboard you need Prime Status, an active Premier CS Rating and enough rating to be among the Top 1,000 eligible players in your region. The World leaderboard separately shows the Top 1,000 players globally.

How Does the CS2 Premier Leaderboard Work?

Premier uses one numerical CS Rating for your overall Premier performance.

Once your rating becomes high enough, it can place you on one of Valve's public leaderboards.

The system is different from Competitive, where ranks are map-specific. Premier uses one rating across the full Premier map pool.

How Many CS2 Leaderboards Are There?

Valve officially lists nine:

LeaderboardWhat It Shows
FriendsPlayers from your Steam Friends List
WorldThe Top 1,000 Premier players globally
AfricaRegional Premier leaderboard
AsiaRegional Premier leaderboard
AustraliaRegional Premier leaderboard
ChinaRegional Premier leaderboard
EuropeRegional Premier leaderboard
North AmericaRegional Premier leaderboard
South AmericaRegional Premier leaderboard

What Rating Do You Need for the CS2 Leaderboard?

There is no fixed rating requirement.

The minimum rating required to enter a leaderboard depends on:

  • the current Premier season;
  • your region;
  • how many highly rated players are active;
  • how far into the season you are;
  • the rating currently held by the player around position #1000.

That means a rating that is enough for a regional leaderboard today may not be enough several weeks later.

Is 30K Enough for Top 1000?

Not automatically.

30,000 starts Premier's highest visible Gold color band and is extremely rare compared with the overall Premier population.

Recent large third-party datasets from September 2026 place only around 0.05–0.1% of tracked active players at 30K+.

However:

  • 30K does not guarantee World Top 1000;
  • 30K does not permanently guarantee regional Top 1000;
  • the required rating changes as the leaderboard moves.

Your live in-game leaderboard is the correct source for the current cutoff.

What Rating Is Top 1000 in the World?

The exact World Top 1000 threshold is dynamic.

Valve does not publish a permanent number such as:

“World Top 1000 starts at 31,250.”

The threshold moves whenever players around the bottom of the leaderboard gain or lose rating.

If player #1000 currently has 31,700, then you need to exceed the relevant live rating to move into that position. If the board rises to 32,000 later, the requirement rises with it.

Why We Do Not Publish a Fake Fixed Top 1000 Rating

Many leaderboard guides become outdated quickly because they copy one screenshot and present its #1000 rating as a permanent requirement.

That is incorrect.

A leaderboard cutoff is a moving position, not a static rank threshold.

Use this rule: if you want the current World or regional cutoff, open the live Premier leaderboard and check the rating around position #1000. Any static number in an article is only a dated snapshot.

World Top 1000 vs Regional Top 1000

These are not the same achievement.

World LeaderboardRegional Leaderboard
Top 1,000 players globallyTop eligible players within one Valve region
Usually a harder rating thresholdThreshold depends heavily on region
Compares all regions togetherCompares players assigned to the same region
Only 1,000 global positionsSeparate leaderboard for each of seven regions

You can therefore appear on a regional board without being inside the World Top 1000.

Can You Choose Your CS2 Leaderboard Region?

No.

Valve determines your regional leaderboard according to the location of the servers you play on most.

You cannot simply select Europe, North America or another region from a menu because its cutoff looks easier.

What Are the Seven CS2 Leaderboard Regions?

  • Africa;
  • Asia;
  • Australia;
  • China;
  • Europe;
  • North America;
  • South America.

The region system is specifically for leaderboard classification. It is not another CS Rating tier.

Do You Need Prime for the Premier Leaderboard?

Yes.

Valve requires Prime Status for Premier and for eligibility on public CS2 leaderboards.

Players without Prime cannot receive a Premier CS Rating and cannot appear on the public Premier leaderboards.

Do You Need Profile Level 10?

Premier itself currently requires:

  • Prime Status;
  • Profile Level 10.

Profile Level 10 unlocks access to Premier. It is not a leaderboard rating requirement.

Your leaderboard position is based on your Premier CS Rating, not your XP Profile Level.

How Do You Get on the CS2 Premier Leaderboard?

The practical path is:

  1. unlock Premier;
  2. complete calibration and obtain a visible CS Rating;
  3. continue gaining rating;
  4. reach the live Top 1,000 range for your region;
  5. submit a valid leaderboard name if prompted;
  6. have the name approved by moderation.

There is no separate “leaderboard qualification match.” Your rating position determines eligibility.

What Happens When You Enter the Top 1000?

Once your eligible rating reaches the public leaderboard range, your account can be displayed on that board.

Valve may ask you to submit a leaderboard name.

That name is then reviewed by moderation staff before public display.

Can You Use Any Name on the Leaderboard?

No.

Valve moderates leaderboard names.

Advertising is not permitted, including promotional website or software names.

Your submitted name must comply with Steam's profile-name rules.

Can You Change Your Leaderboard Name?

Once Valve approves your leaderboard name, it is locked for the remainder of the season.

Choose it carefully before submitting.

What If Your Leaderboard Name Is Rejected?

If moderation rejects the submitted name, the leaderboard-name status is reset and you need to submit another acceptable name.

This does not mean your CS Rating has been removed.

It is a moderation issue with the public display name.

Does Top 1000 Mean You Are Top 0.1%?

Not necessarily.

Top 1000 is a fixed number of leaderboard positions, while percentile depends on the size of the player population.

For example, if several million players are represented in a large tracking dataset, Top 1000 is far smaller than Top 1%.

Recent September 2026 tracking found 30K+ itself was already roughly the top 0.05% of that tracked population.

Use our CS2 Premier Rating Percentile Calculator if you want a population percentile rather than leaderboard position.

Is 30K the Leaderboard Rank?

No.

30K is the start of the Gold visual rating band.

Leaderboard qualification is based on whether your exact rating is high enough for a Top 1,000 position.

These are different concepts.

30K Gold BandTop 1000 Leaderboard
Fixed visible color boundaryDynamic competitive cutoff
Starts at 30,000No permanent starting rating
Can contain more than 1,000 playersLimited to leaderboard positions
Does not guarantee leaderboard placementRequires rating high enough for the current cutoff

How High Can CS Rating Go?

Valve has not published a hard maximum CS Rating.

Premier ratings can continue above 30,000.

A recent public tracker recorded a Season 5 high around 36,475 in early October 2026, while historical leaderboard snapshots from other seasons have gone above 38,000.

Those numbers are snapshots, not a maximum built into the rating system.

Can the #1 Player Go Above 40K?

Valve has not published a rule saying that 40,000 is impossible.

Likewise, there is no official statement that 35K, 38K or another number is the maximum.

The practical upper end depends on the live rating system and what players actually achieve.

Does the Leaderboard Reset Every Season?

Premier leaderboards are seasonal.

A position from an older season should not be treated as a permanent lifetime leaderboard rank.

When a new Premier season changes the rating environment, the leaderboard population and thresholds can change again.

Why Leaderboard Cutoffs Rise During a Season

At the beginning of a season, fewer players may have established high ratings.

As the season continues:

  • more players finish calibration;
  • high-rated players play more matches;
  • rating accumulates at the top;
  • the player occupying #1000 can move higher.

This is why an old “Top 1000 requires X rating” number becomes unreliable.

Can the Cutoff Fall?

Yes.

Individual players can lose rating or become unavailable for the active leaderboard environment, and the season structure can also change.

The cutoff should therefore be treated as live data, not a one-way fixed staircase.

How Rare Is Leaderboard-Level Rating?

Very rare compared with normal Premier ratings.

Recent large-scale September 2026 tracking placed:

CS RatingApprox. Share at This Rating or Higher
20K~10.3%
23K~4.2%
25K~1.8%
27K~0.5%
29K~0.12%
30K+~0.05%

These are third-party tracked population estimates, not official Valve percentiles.

Does Win Rate Determine Leaderboard Position?

Leaderboard position is based primarily on your resulting CS Rating, not on simply having the highest displayed win-rate percentage.

A player with a 70% win rate but 27K rating ranks below a player with 32K rating if the leaderboard is ordered by CS Rating.

Win rate helps explain how a player reached a rating, but it is not a replacement for the rating itself.

How Many Matches Do You Need for Top 1000?

There is no fixed answer.

It depends on:

  • your starting rating;
  • your win rate;
  • your +gain / -loss stakes;
  • the current live cutoff;
  • how the cutoff moves while you climb.

You can estimate the climb with our CS2 Premier Win Rate Calculator.

Can You Be on the Regional Board but Not World Top 1000?

Yes.

The World leaderboard compares everyone globally.

A regional leaderboard only compares players assigned to that region.

If the regional #1000 rating is lower than the World #1000 rating, you can qualify regionally before you qualify globally.

Can You Be World Top 1000 but Not Regional Top 1000?

In practical ranking terms, a player strong enough for the global Top 1000 should also be highly placed within their own region.

But public display and moderation state can still affect what you see in the client.

Leaderboard vs Premier Rating Percentile

These measure different things:

  • Leaderboard position: your exact rank among a fixed Top 1000 list;
  • Percentile: your estimated position within the entire tracked population.

A 30K player can be in an extreme percentile without automatically being World Top 1000 at every point in the season.

Leaderboard vs FACEIT Challenger

Premier Top 1000 should not be confused with FACEIT Challenger.

FACEIT uses a separate Elo ladder, and Challenger represents the Top 1,000 FACEIT Level 10 players under FACEIT's own system.

Premier uses Valve's CS Rating and its own World/regional leaderboards.

See CS2 Premier vs FACEIT.

How to Push Toward the Leaderboard

Once you are already in the high-rating range, the climb becomes less about learning basic CS and more about reducing repeated high-level mistakes.

Focus on:

  • maintaining a strong current map pool;
  • high-quality duo or stack coordination;
  • avoiding expensive tilt sessions;
  • tracking your actual +gain / -loss values;
  • reducing anti-eco losses;
  • improving late-round decision-making;
  • protecting rating when the current stakes are unfavorable.

See How to Rank Up in CS2 Premier.

How to Check Your Current Top 1000 Gap

  1. open Premier;
  2. open Leaderboards;
  3. choose World or your regional board;
  4. scroll to the lower end of the Top 1000;
  5. note the current CS Rating around position #1000;
  6. subtract your own rating from that cutoff.

That difference is your current raw leaderboard rating gap.

The cutoff can move while you climb, so check it again regularly.

Bottom line: CS2 does not have one permanent “leaderboard rating.” Valve gives the World board only 1,000 positions and also maintains seven regional boards. Your goal is not simply to hit 30K — it is to exceed the live cutoff for the leaderboard you are targeting.

Want to Push Toward 30K+?

Use the Premier Win Rate Calculator to estimate the mathematical climb from your current rating.

If you want to reach a specific Premier target such as 25K or 30K+, see our CS2 Premier Rating Boost.

Last verified: October 2026. Valve officially lists nine CS2 leaderboards: Friends, World and seven regions. Public leaderboard eligibility requires Prime and a Top-1000 regional position. Region is assigned from the servers you play on most. Exact World and regional Top-1000 CS Rating cutoffs are dynamic and should be checked in the live Premier client.
