The CS2 Premier Season 5 Medal is the seasonal reward connected to your Premier activity and highest CS Rating. Valve started Premier Season Five on July 8, 2026, and a July 9 update specifically fixed a visual issue affecting one of the bars on season medals.
Valve has not published a new Season 5 eligibility announcement repeating every medal requirement. The latest complete official medal rule, published for Season Four, required an account in good standing, at least 25 Premier match wins and an active CS Rating when the season ended. Medal color was determined by the highest CS Rating reached during the season, while every 25 wins added one bar, up to five.
Does CS2 Premier Season 5 Have a Medal?
Yes.
Season Five began on July 8, 2026.
One day later, Valve fixed an issue where season medals were missing the gold tint on one of their bars.
That makes the existence of Season 5 Premier medals clear even though the Season 5 announcement itself focused mainly on Cache, the Active Duty map pool and gameplay changes rather than repeating the medal rules.
How Do You Get the Premier Season 5 Medal?
The most recent complete official medal requirements were published by Valve for Season Four:
- an account in good standing;
- at least 25 Premier match wins during the season;
- an active CS Rating at the end of the season.
Valve has not published a different Season 5 medal rule as of October 28, 2026.
25 Wins Means 25 Wins, Not 25 Matches
This is the most common misunderstanding.
If the eligibility rule remains unchanged, you need 25 wins, not simply 25 completed Premier games.
| Season Record | Total Matches | Premier Wins | Medal Win Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25–0 | 25 | 25 | Reached |
| 25–15 | 40 | 25 | Reached |
| 25–25 | 50 | 25 | Reached |
| 20–10 | 30 | 20 | Not yet |
| 12–13 | 25 | 12 | Not yet |

Under Valve's established Premier medal rules, the color is based on your highest CS Rating achieved during the season.
It is not based on:
- your final rating on the last day;
- your average rating;
- your current win rate;
- your total number of bars.
If you reach 20,000 once and later drop back to 18,500, the highest-rating rule means the seasonal achievement is associated with the 20K color band.
Season 5 Medal Colors by CS Rating
| Highest Seasonal CS Rating | Premier Color | Season Achievement |
|---|---|---|
| Below 5,000 | Gray | Gray medal tier |
| 5,000–9,999 | Light Blue | Light Blue medal tier |
| 10,000–14,999 | Blue | Blue medal tier |
| 15,000–19,999 | Purple | Purple medal tier |
| 20,000–24,999 | Pink | Pink medal tier |
| 25,000–29,999 | Red | Red medal tier |
| 30,000+ | Gold | Gold medal tier |
For the complete rating structure, see CS2 Premier Ranks Explained.
Do You Need to Finish the Season at Your Peak Rating?
No, under Valve's established medal rule.
The medal color follows the highest CS Rating reached during the season.
Example:
- season high: 25,120;
- final rating: 22,400;
- highest achieved band: Red.
The important part for medal color is the peak, not the final number.
What Do the Bars on the Premier Medal Mean?
The bars represent your total Premier wins during the season.
Valve's latest official rule gives one bar for every 25 Premier wins, up to five bars.
| Premier Wins | Medal Bars |
|---|---|
| 25–49 | 1 bar |
| 50–74 | 2 bars |
| 75–99 | 3 bars |
| 100–124 | 4 bars |
| 125+ | 5 bars |
The bars are therefore a season-activity indicator rather than another rating tier.
Do Losses Remove Medal Bars?
No published Valve medal rule says that losses remove completed win bars.
The bar system counts total Premier wins.
If you have 50 wins, you have crossed the two-bar threshold even if those wins required many more than 50 total matches.
Can You Get More Than Five Bars?
No under Valve's published system.
Five bars is the maximum display, reached at 125 Premier wins.
Additional wins can still matter for your Premier season and rating, but the medal does not receive a sixth bar under the documented rule.
Does Rating Determine the Number of Bars?
No.
Color and bars represent two separate achievements:
| Medal Feature | Determined By |
|---|---|
| Color | Highest CS Rating reached during the season |
| Bars | Total Premier wins during the season |
A player can therefore have a Gold medal with one bar or a Blue medal with five bars.
Example: Gold Medal With One Bar
Suppose a player:
- reaches 30,100 CS Rating;
- wins 30 Premier matches during the season;
- keeps an active rating until season end.
Under the established medal rules:
- highest-rating color: Gold;
- wins: 30;
- bars: 1.
Example: Purple Medal With Five Bars
Another player may:
- peak at 18,700;
- win 140 Premier matches.
That produces a very different medal profile:
- highest-rating color: Purple;
- wins: 140;
- bars: maximum 5.
Do You Need an Active CS Rating at Season End?
Under the latest complete Valve medal rule, yes.
This is the condition players most easily overlook.
Having enough wins and having reached a high rating earlier in the season were not the only requirements. Valve also required an active CS Rating when the season ended.
What Does an Active CS Rating Mean?
Your Premier CS Rating must still be active rather than hidden because of inactivity.
Valve confirms that Premier ratings can need to be re-established after a period away from the mode.
If you stop playing for a long period near the end of a season, do not assume that earning 25 wins months earlier is enough by itself.
See CS2 Premier Rating Expired for the inactivity system.
How Long Can You Stay Inactive?
Valve does not publish one universal inactivity timer.
Do not rely on an article claiming that every Premier account expires after exactly 7, 14, 28 or 30 days.
If medal eligibility matters to you near the end of Season 5, check whether your rating is still active in the live client.
What Is an Account in Good Standing?
Valve uses the phrase account in good standing as part of its medal eligibility wording.
Valve does not publish a detailed medal-specific checklist defining every possible account condition in that announcement.
The safe interpretation is that an account affected by serious restrictions or competitive bans should not be assumed to qualify normally for seasonal rewards.
When Did Premier Season 5 Start?
Premier Season Five began on July 8, 2026.
The main Premier map-pool change was:
- Cache added;
- Overpass removed.
This means Season 5 rating achievements are being earned in the current Active Duty environment rather than Season 4's pool.
When Does CS2 Premier Season 5 End?
Valve has not announced the Season 5 end date as of October 28, 2026.
This is important because some sites publish estimated January 2027 dates based on previous season lengths.
Those dates may be reasonable forecasts, but they are not official until Valve announces them.
How Many Wins Per Week Do You Need?
Because Valve has not announced the end date, an exact required weekly pace cannot currently be calculated without assuming a season-end date.
You can still use a simple formula once Valve announces the deadline:
Wins remaining ÷ weeks remaining = required wins per week
Example:
- current wins: 13;
- target: 25;
- wins remaining: 12;
- 6 weeks remaining;
- required pace: 2 wins per week.
Does Your Highest Rating Ever Count?
No.
The medal color uses your highest rating during that Premier season, not your lifetime record from an older season.
If you reached 25K in Season 4 but peak at 18K in Season 5, the Season 4 peak does not automatically make your Season 5 medal Red.
Does FACEIT Elo Affect the Medal?
No.
FACEIT is an independent ladder.
Your FACEIT Elo, Level or Challenger status does not determine your Valve Premier season medal.
Does Competitive Rank Affect the Medal?
No.
Competitive Skill Groups are also separate from Premier CS Rating.
A Global Elite-equivalent Competitive achievement does not directly change your Premier medal color.
Does Top 1000 Give a Special Medal Color?
Valve's published medal system bases color on the highest CS Rating band, not on a separate Top-1000 color.
A leaderboard position is a separate achievement.
If you are interested in the public rankings, see CS2 Premier Leaderboard Explained.
Is Gold the Highest Medal Color?
Under the current Premier color system, Gold begins at 30,000 CS Rating.
There is no additional publicly documented 35K or 40K medal color above Gold.
A player reaching 35K and a player reaching 30K are both within the 30K+ Gold rating band, although their exact ratings and leaderboard positions are very different.
How Rare Is a Gold Season Medal?
30K+ is extremely rare in current third-party Premier tracking.
Depending on dataset and collection date, only around 0.05–0.1% of tracked active players appear in the 30K+ range.
These are third-party estimates because Valve does not publish a complete official Premier rating distribution.
See What Is a Good CS2 Premier Rating? for the current distribution context.
How to Aim for a Better Season 5 Medal
There are two independent goals:
1. Reach 25 Premier Wins
This satisfies the most recently documented win threshold for medal eligibility.
2. Push Your Highest Seasonal Rating
Your peak rating determines the color under the established system.
Once you reach a new color band, losing rating later does not erase that seasonal peak from the color calculation under Valve's previously stated rule.
Good Season 5 Rating Targets
| Target | Medal Color Goal | Relative Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| 10K | Blue | Broad middle range |
| 15K | Purple | Clearly above average |
| 20K | Pink | High-level target |
| 25K | Red | Elite tracked range |
| 30K+ | Gold | Exceptionally rare |
Should You Stop After Reaching Your Desired Color?
Not necessarily.
If the established system remains unchanged, additional wins can still add more bars.
For example, after reaching Red at 25K:
- 25 wins → 1 bar;
- 50 wins → 2 bars;
- 75 wins → 3 bars;
- 100 wins → 4 bars;
- 125 wins → 5 bars.
You can therefore continue improving the medal's activity component even if you are satisfied with the color.
What If You Drop Below Your Medal Color?
Under Valve's published highest-rating rule, the medal color is tied to the highest rating achieved during the season.
If you touch 20K and later fall to 17K, that does not reduce the previously reached seasonal peak.
The main thing to protect near season end is the separate requirement for an active CS Rating.
Can Promotion Matches Affect Your Medal Color?
Yes indirectly.
To change from Blue to Purple, Purple to Pink or another higher band, you must cross the relevant 5K boundary.
Those are also Premier's promotion boundaries.
See CS2 Premier Promotion & Relegation Matches.
How Many Matches Might 25 Wins Take?
It depends on win rate.
| Win Rate | Approx. Matches for 25 Wins |
|---|---|
| 70% | ~36 |
| 60% | ~42 |
| 55% | ~46 |
| 50% | ~50 |
| 45% | ~56 |
| 40% | ~63 |
These are simple statistical estimates. Real results vary.
