GTA 6 is set across the fictional state of Leonida, with Rockstar currently profiling six major destinations: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. These locations range from dense city streets and tropical islands to wetlands, an industrial sugar town, a faded resort coast and northern wilderness.
Rockstar has also named smaller places including Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, the Tisha-Wocka flea market, VC Port, Washington Beach, Southside Vice City, Stockyard, Gambit Bay, Watson Bay, Lake Leonida and Leonida Penitentiary.
Last updated: October 1, 2026. We separate locations Rockstar has explicitly named from places only seen in footage and from community map reconstructions.

Important: Six Locations Do Not Mean GTA 6 Has Only Six Areas
Rockstar currently gives six destinations dedicated profiles, but it has not published a complete labeled GTA VI map or stated that the world is divided into exactly six playable regions.
This distinction matters because many fan maps already include dozens or hundreds of districts, roads and landmarks.
For this guide we use three evidence levels:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Officially Named | Rockstar explicitly publishes the location name. |
| Officially Shown | The place appears in official screenshots or footage but may not have a published name. |
| Community Identified | Fans or specialist mapping projects connect scenery, road signs or real-world geography to a probable location. |
A community reconstruction can be useful without becoming an official Rockstar map.
1. Vice City

Vice City is GTA VI's main urban center and Rockstar's modern return to the series' Florida-inspired metropolis.
The city is no longer presented as an isolated setting. It sits inside the much larger state of Leonida and serves as one environment among several dramatically different regions.
Rockstar describes modern Vice City through glamour, hustle, greed, beaches and sharply different neighborhoods.
Vice City Areas Rockstar Has Actually Named
| Place | What Rockstar connects it with |
|---|---|
| Ocean Beach | Pastel Art Deco hotels and bright white sand |
| Little Cuba | Busy panaderías and neighborhood street life |
| Tisha-Wocka flea market | Bootleg brands and informal retail |
| VC Port | Major cruise-ship traffic |
These four names come directly from Rockstar's Vice City description. A much larger list of districts circulates online, but most of those names come from trailer signs, previous Vice City games, development material or community mapping.
More Vice City Names Revealed in 2026
Later edition and promotional material added several more names without giving us a finished district map.
- Washington Beach – the location where Rockstar places the Shitzu Squalo.
- Gambit Bay – waters Rockstar associates with fishing from the Squalo.
- Stockyard – connected to businesses such as Stock 305 and Electric Fang.
- Southside Vice City – territory associated with the PTT Youngin$ compound.
- Shore Court – a named garage linked with the Vintage Vice City Pack.
These names are useful geographic anchors, but Rockstar still has not published their exact boundaries or a complete road map.
2. Leonida Keys

The Leonida Keys are GTA VI's tropical archipelago and one of the areas most closely connected to Jason Duval's life before the central story accelerates.
Rockstar presents life here as easier and less glamorous than Vice City: casual clothes, local bars, boats and communities surrounded by beautiful but dangerous water.
The Keys have unusually strong character connections:
- Jason Duval ended up in the Keys working for local drug runners.
- Brian Heder is an old-school smuggler operating through his boat yard.
- Cal Hampton is Jason's friend and another associate of Brian.
Brian allows Jason to stay at one of his properties in exchange for helping with local criminal work.
This makes the Keys more than GTA VI's holiday destination. They are part of Jason's starting criminal network.
What to Expect From the Leonida Keys
- islands and causeways;
- small coastal settlements;
- bars and waterfront businesses;
- boats and open-water travel;
- smuggling history;
- fishing and marine activity;
- tropical wildlife.
The exact number of islands, towns and accessible interiors remains unpublished.
3. Grassrivers

Grassrivers is Leonida's large wetland environment.
Rockstar describes it as a primordial landscape where the surface itself can be deceptive and where alligators are only the most obvious danger among the mangroves.
The environment establishes a completely different type of traversal from Vice City's roads.
Grassrivers Features Shown or Described
- mangroves;
- flooded grasslands;
- shallow waterways;
- alligators;
- other dangerous wildlife;
- airboats and water-based travel;
- isolated structures and settlements.
Grassrivers clearly draws visual inspiration from Florida's Everglades, although the exact relationship between the fictional geography and the real Everglades should not be treated as a one-to-one map.
4. Port Gellhorn

Port Gellhorn is Rockstar's vision of a once-popular Leonida vacation town that has fallen on harder times.
The official profile emphasizes:
- cheap motels;
- closed or abandoned tourist attractions;
- empty strip malls;
- roadside businesses;
- a rougher local economy replacing former tourism.
This makes Port Gellhorn potentially one of GTA VI's most useful contrasts with Vice City.
Vice City represents wealth, excess and constant growth. Port Gellhorn represents what remains after the tourists and investment move somewhere else.
Rockstar has not yet published the city's exact size, neighborhoods or full activity list.
5. Ambrosia

Ambrosia sits in the industrial heart of Leonida.
Rockstar frames the area around American industry, old-school values and the economic power of Allied Crystal.
The Allied Crystal sugar refinery provides much of the local employment, while Rockstar says a local biker gang supplies much of everything else.
Official material shows an environment of:
- large industrial facilities;
- sugar production;
- fields and agricultural land;
- rail infrastructure;
- wet lowlands;
- biker culture;
- small-town politics and local industry.
Ambrosia is particularly useful because GTA VI is not treating Leonida as nothing but beaches and nightlife. It gives the state an inland industrial economy as well.
Allied Crystal Sugar Refinery
Allied Crystal is one of the clearest officially named industrial landmarks in GTA VI.
The refinery anchors Ambrosia's economy and appears repeatedly in official imagery.
Its relationship with local politics and the surrounding community gives Ambrosia a very different social structure from Vice City or the Keys.
6. Mount Kalaga National Park

Mount Kalaga National Park occupies the wilderness toward Leonida's northern border.
Rockstar directly associates the park with:
- hunting;
- fishing;
- off-road trails;
- forest roads;
- streams;
- remote backwoods communities;
- wildlife.
Official screenshots show dirt bikes, ATVs, kayaks, hunters and wildlife moving through rugged terrain.
The Ultimate Edition's '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy is also explicitly promoted for the backwoods around Mount Kalaga.
Rockstar's reference to the state's northern border is interesting, but it does not by itself confirm what lies beyond the playable map or exactly how GTA VI handles the edge of the world.
Other GTA 6 Places Rockstar Has Named
The six profiles are only the top layer. Rockstar has already named additional places through character biographies and 2026 edition material.
| Location | What we know | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Leonida Penitentiary | The prison where Lucia served time before her release | Officially named |
| Ocean Beach | Vice City beachfront with Art Deco hotels and white sand | Officially named |
| Little Cuba | Vice City neighborhood highlighted for its panaderías | Officially named |
| Tisha-Wocka flea market | Vice City market associated with bootleg brands | Officially named |
| VC Port | Vice City's cruise-focused port | Officially named |
| Washington Beach | Where the Ultimate Edition Shitzu Squalo is docked | Officially named in edition material |
| Gambit Bay | Named fishing waters associated with the Squalo | Officially named in edition material |
| Stockyard | Area associated with Stock 305 and Electric Fang | Officially named in edition material |
| Southside Vice City | Area connected with the PTT Youngin$ compound | Officially named in edition material |
| Watson Bay | Named location of Paradise Garage | Officially named in edition material |
| Lake Leonida | Named around One-Eyed Willie's Mod Shop material | Officially named in edition material |
Several of these do not yet have an official position on a complete Rockstar map. A confirmed name does not automatically mean that fan-made coordinates are correct.
Where Do Jason and Lucia Connect to the Map?
| Location | Character connection |
|---|---|
| Leonida Keys | Jason works around local drug runners and lives in one of Brian Heder's properties |
| Leonida Penitentiary | Lucia served time here before the main story |
| Vice City | The wider criminal, business and music networks increasingly converge here |
| Southside Vice City | Contains the PTT Youngin$ compound in Ultimate Edition content |
| Mount Kalaga | Connected more strongly to exploration, hunting, fishing and off-road travel than to a named protagonist biography so far |
For the complete character network, see our GTA 6 characters guide.
Which GTA 6 Location Fits Different Types of Gameplay?
| If you want... | Location to watch | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Dense city driving and nightlife | Vice City | Urban streets, beach districts, businesses and heavy traffic |
| Boats and coastal exploration | Leonida Keys | Island geography and a strong boating/smuggling identity |
| Wildlife and swamp exploration | Grassrivers | Mangroves, shallow waterways and dangerous animals |
| Run-down coastal Americana | Port Gellhorn | Motels, abandoned attractions and a faded resort economy |
| Industry and biker territory | Ambrosia | Sugar refinery, working industry and local biker influence |
| Hunting, fishing and off-road driving | Mount Kalaga | National park, trails, forests and wilderness |
Real-World Inspirations: Confirmed Setting vs Analysis
Leonida is clearly Rockstar's fictionalized interpretation of Florida, but individual GTA locations should not automatically be treated as exact copies of one real place.
| GTA VI location | Common real-world comparison | How to treat it |
|---|---|---|
| Vice City | Miami / Miami Beach | Strong established analogue, but fictional geography |
| Leonida Keys | Florida Keys | Strong visual/geographic analogue |
| Grassrivers | Everglades | Strong environmental analogue |
| Port Gellhorn | Faded Florida Gulf Coast resort towns | Broad comparison, not a confirmed one-to-one city |
| Ambrosia | South/Central Florida sugar country around Lake Okeechobee | Strong industrial/agricultural comparison |
| Mount Kalaga | Southern Appalachian-style terrain | Interpretation only; Rockstar has not published a one-to-one real counterpart |
What Is Still Not Confirmed About the GTA 6 Map?
- The complete official map.
- Exact boundaries of all six profiled destinations.
- The total number of cities and towns.
- The total number of districts in Vice City.
- An official map area in square kilometers or square miles.
- Exact travel times between regions.
- Every road and highway.
- How much of every building is enterable.
- Whether every community-map location survives into the final build.
- Exact coordinates for many names revealed in edition material.
For this reason, exact fan-map measurements should remain labeled as reconstructions rather than official GTA VI geography.
