Midnight Season 2 adds a new Delver’s Journey track, three Coiled Isle Delves, Bountiful Delves, a new Nemesis encounter and new Prey rewards. The Delver’s Journey is a seasonal, Warband-based progression track advanced primarily through Bountiful Delves, while Prey uses its own seasonal journey and reward structure. The two systems are connected through outdoor progression and the Great Vault, but they do not share the same progress currency or reward track.

Patch 12.1 is not live yet. The current information identifies Midnight Season 2 as a pre-release feature, with Season 2 planned to begin one week after the Patch 12.1 content update. Blizzard has not published a final regional release schedule, so no exact launch date should be treated as confirmed.
What Is the Delver’s Journey in Midnight Season 2?
The Delver’s Journey is a seasonal progression track for Midnight Delves. It works similarly to a Renown bar: players earn Delver’s Journey progress from eligible Delve activities, reach ranks, and unlock rewards at each stage. The progression is Warband-based, allowing multiple characters on the same account to contribute to the seasonal track.
The Journey is separate from Valeera Sanguinar’s companion progression. Increasing the companion’s level improves the companion’s abilities, while Delver’s Journey ranks unlock seasonal rewards, vendors, utility features and account-wide collection items.

How to Earn Delver’s Journey Progress
The primary source of Season 2 Delver’s Journey progress is the completion of Bountiful Delves. Regular Delves remain useful for gear, companion experience and other rewards, but the seasonal Journey is designed around Bountiful Delve activity.
- Unlock the Midnight Delve headquarters in Silvermoon City.
- Complete the introductory Delve quests and gain access to the Delver’s Guide.
- Check the current Bountiful Delves through the Delver’s Guide or the Adventure Guide.
- Complete Bountiful Delves at the highest tier you can reliably finish.
- Open Bountiful Coffers with Restored Coffer Keys when you want additional Journey progress and gear.
- Use the Journey tab to track ranks and newly unlocked rewards.
Bountiful Delves and the new Nemesis Delve become available with the start of Midnight Season 2. The precise Season 2 progress values and any weekly limits should be checked again after the live release, because the current PTR information does not establish every final numerical value.
New Midnight Season 2 Delves
| Delve | Location | Season 2 role |
|---|---|---|
| The Ring of Glory | The Coiled Isle | New seasonal Delve |
| Gnarldor Isle | The Coiled Isle | New seasonal Delve |
| Venomfall Deeps | The Coiled Isle | Season 2 Nemesis Delve |
The Ring of Glory and Gnarldor Isle are standard additions to the Delve pool. Venomfall Deeps is the important seasonal exception because it contains the Season 2 Nemesis encounter. Existing Midnight Delves also receive new snake- and venom-themed story variants.
The new Delves are located on the Coiled Isle, the outdoor zone introduced with Curse of Ula’tek. They form one part of the zone’s wider progression alongside Prey Hunts, public events, Curse Surges, Cursed Fishing and the Altar of Corrosion.
Delver’s Journey Rewards in Season 2
Season 2 continues the established Delver’s Journey reward structure. Rewards are placed across the ten-rank track and include cosmetic unlocks, Delve utility, vendor access and Warband rewards. The most important confirmed reward categories are listed below.
| Reward category | What it provides |
|---|---|
| Delver’s Gob-Trotter schematics | Additional visual customizations for the Season 2 Delve mount |
| Restored Coffer Key access | Additional ways to obtain keys for Bountiful Coffers, including later discounts |
| Delve-O-Bot 7001 | A utility toy that transports the player to a random Bountiful Delve |
| Warbound equipment access | Vendor access to catch-up equipment intended for other characters on the Warband |
| Warband campsite | A Nightfall Sanctum-themed campsite reward for completing the Journey |
Delver’s Gob-Trotter Customizations
The Delver’s Gob-Trotter is the Season 2 Delve mount. Its appearance can be changed through schematics unlocked as the Delver’s Journey advances. The schematics are cosmetic and should not be confused with separate mount rewards from Prey, Mythic+ or the raid.
Delve-O-Bot 7001
One of the notable Season 2 Journey rewards is the Delve-O-Bot 7001. The toy provides transportation to a random Bountiful Delve and is intended to reduce the time spent traveling between the Delve headquarters and the current seasonal activity.
The toy is a convenience reward rather than a replacement for the Delver’s Guide. Players still use the guide to view Journey progress, companion options and the available Bountiful Delves.
Warbound Equipment and Catch-Up Rewards
Later Journey ranks unlock additional vendor access to catch-up equipment. This gear is intended primarily for gearing alternate characters and filling missing slots rather than replacing raid or high-level Mythic+ progression.
Exact item levels, upgrade tracks and vendor prices require live verification. Do not assume that PTR item levels or costs are final.
Nightfall Sanctum Warband Campsite
The capstone reward for completing the Season 2 Delver’s Journey is a Nightfall Sanctum-themed Warband campsite. This is an account-level cosmetic reward connected to the Warband character-selection experience and is not a combat item.
Season 2 Nemesis Delve: Venomfall Deeps
Venomfall Deeps is the Season 2 Nemesis Delve. Its Nemesis target is Azta’rec, and defeating him provides the central limited-time Delve challenge for the season.
Season 2 introduces a new Nemesis reward structure. Players who defeat Azta’rec during the opening period can earn the Fabled Vanquisher of Azta’rec title and its associated achievement. The reward is tied to an early-season window, so the exact deadline must be confirmed again when Season 2 goes live.
A separate solo achievement, Let Me Solo Him: Azta’rec, is associated with defeating the Nemesis without other players in the party. Its reward is the Apophic Soul Crusher. The final required tier is not confirmed in the current published information and should not be guessed.
The Nemesis encounter is separate from ordinary Delver’s Journey progression. You can advance the Journey without immediately defeating Azta’rec, but the Nemesis achievements and cosmetic rewards are time-sensitive.
What Is Prey in Midnight Season 2?
Prey is an opt-in outdoor hunting system. Players accept a target, complete objectives and investigate the surrounding zone until the target is located. The final encounter awards gear, seasonal progress and additional rewards.
Prey begins in Silvermoon City through Magister Astalor Bloodsworn. The system has three difficulty levels:
- Normal: The introductory difficulty, where other players can assist during the outdoor hunt.
- Hard: Adds more dangerous Torments and increases the reward quality.
- Nightmare: The highest Prey difficulty, with the full set of active seasonal affixes.
Season 2 expands Prey with new targets, new hunts in the Coiled Isle and additional affixes. The weekly hunt limit is also increased to fifteen to account for the larger activity pool.
Midnight Season 2 Prey Rewards
| Reward | Source | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Preyseeker’s Chest | Successful Prey Hunt | Contains gear and Dawncrests; exact live item levels may change |
| Great Vault progress | Completed Prey Hunts | Contributes to the outdoor activity row |
| Corrosive Souls | Successful Season 2 Prey Hunts | Used for special outdoor-content effects on eligible armor |
| Preyseeker’s Hubris | Prey Journey Rank 5 | Mount reward tied to seasonal progression |
| Preyseeker’s Wrath | Prey Journey Rank 10 | Mount reward tied to completing the Journey |
| Preyseeker’s Nightmare | Defeating every Prey target on Nightmare | Requires the relevant seasonal target achievements |
| Transmog and housing decor | Prey vendors and difficulty achievements | Some items require Hard or Nightmare achievements |
Prey Gear and Dawncrests
Every completed Hunt awards a Preyseeker’s Chest containing gear and Dawncrests. Normal, Hard and Nightmare Hunts use different reward levels and upgrade tracks. The current PTR information lists the reward structure, but final live item levels should be verified after Patch 12.1 is released.
Prey gear is useful for outdoor progression and early gearing, while higher-end raid and Mythic+ players should treat it as one source among several rather than as a replacement for seasonal group content.
Prey and the Great Vault
Prey Hunts contribute to the World row of the Great Vault. This row can be completed through a combination of Delves, Prey Hunts and other eligible outdoor activities. Players do not need to complete fifteen Prey Hunts to fill the Great Vault; they can combine different outdoor activities according to the weekly objective requirements.
This makes Prey particularly useful for players who want additional weekly choices without committing exclusively to Delves or open-world events.
How Corrosive Souls Differ from Delver’s Journey Rewards
Corrosive Souls are Season 2 consumable items awarded by successful Prey Hunts. They are not Delver’s Journey points, Delve currency or reputation. Their purpose is to add special combat effects to eligible bracers and belts by giving the armor the Corrosive tag.
Corrosive effects are designed for world content, Delves, Ritual Sites and other outdoor activities. They are explicitly inactive inside dungeons and raids, so they should not be treated as a universal gearing upgrade.
The Delver’s Journey, by contrast, grants seasonal progression and unlocks rewards such as Gob-Trotter schematics, the Delve-O-Bot 7001, vendor access and the Nightfall Sanctum campsite.
Season 2 Prey Affixes
Season 2 changes how the Prey affixes are distributed between difficulties. Ambush is associated with Normal Hunts, while Hard and Nightmare Hunts use the more advanced seasonal affixes instead of relying on the same Ambush setup.
| Difficulty | Season 2 behavior |
|---|---|
| Normal | Uses the Ambush-style encounter structure |
| Hard | Uses advanced affixes including Torment, Exploding Corpse Snakes and Toxic Snare |
| Nightmare | Uses the complete high-difficulty affix set |
During an Ambush, the target attacks before the final Hunt encounter. To prevent the target from escaping with your progress, reduce its health to the required threshold or use the appropriate Disarmed Trap interaction. After the target flees, a Riposte can provide additional progress.
Recommended Starting Order for Season 2
- Complete the Patch 12.1 campaign access quests. This establishes access to the Coiled Isle and its seasonal activities.
- Visit the Delve headquarters in Silvermoon City. Unlock the Delver’s Guide, companion features and Bountiful Delves.
- Complete Bountiful Delves consistently. They are the main source of Delver’s Journey progress.
- Begin Prey through Magister Astalor Bloodsworn. Normal Hunts introduce the system before the harder difficulties unlock.
- Use Prey and Delves together for the Great Vault. Combining activities is more flexible than relying on one outdoor source.
- Attempt Venomfall Deeps early if you want the Nemesis title. The early-season reward window is separate from ordinary Journey completion.
- Save Corrosive Souls for outdoor progression. Their effects do not function in dungeons or raids.
A practical launch approach is to complete the available Bountiful Delves each week, use Prey Hunts to supplement the Great Vault and gear, and prioritize the Azta’rec achievement before the first-week reward window closes.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Confusing Delver’s Journey progress with Prey progress. They are separate seasonal tracks.
- Assuming every Delve grants Journey progress. The seasonal track is centered on Bountiful Delves and related eligible activities.
- Treating Corrosive Souls as raid or Mythic+ upgrades. Their effects are restricted to outdoor-style content.
- Ignoring the Nemesis deadline. The Fabled Vanquisher of Azta’rec reward is linked to the opening period of Season 2.
- Spending Restored Coffer Keys without checking the Delve tier. Open Bountiful Coffers when the reward is relevant to your current gearing plan.
- Assuming PTR item levels are final. Reward tracks, prices, thresholds and exact Nemesis requirements still require live confirmation.
- Expecting Prey to replace all other weekly activities. Prey is one way to fill the Great Vault’s outdoor row and should be combined with Delves or other eligible content.
