What is the Best Horse in Diablo IV?

In the vast and demon-infested world of Diablo IV, choosing the right steed isn't just about style—it's about survival. And when it comes to picking the best horse, the answer isn't as straightforward as one might hope.

You first need to unlock mounts, then actually find them. They don’t appear randomly around the map and can be found only in certain places.

How to Unlock Mounts?

To gain access to this feature, players should visit Kyovashad early in the campaign, since this is where they will find a Stable Master with the Donan's Favor task.

It occurs at this stage in the game but must be finished in Act 4. At this point, players will be assigned A Master's Touch as their main objective. Return to the Stable Master after speaking with Donan in the Cathedral of Light in Kyovashad.

Finally, as a reward, you will receive your very own horsey buddy, Old Nell Steed! Or you may purchase one of the other horses right there. Grey Steed and Mottled Steed cost 20,000 gold apiece. Other in-game and paid content choices for mounts will be accessible through the in-game store. And we'll teach you about the greatest mounts in Diablo 4, from uncommon to common, as well as how to obtain them.

Do Mounts Come With Different Abilities?

It is important to note that the distinctions between mounts are purely cosmetic, and they will not have various speeds or powers as one might think. As a result, you will not get a horse racing bonus depending on the type of mount you use. It all comes down to personal preference.

Diving into the heart of the matter, the Spectral Charger emerges as a top contender for the title of best mount.

Awarded for braving the depths of Nightmare Dungeons or participating in The Gathering Legions Events, this undead-like steed combines the eerie with the elite.

But what makes it stand out? Apart from its ghostly aesthetics, it's the bragging rights that come with it—a badge of honor showcasing your triumphs against the nightmarish challenges of Sanctuary. Plus, the horse is see-through, and you can see its bones and skull, doesn’t get any more demonic than that.

Horses to Have in Your Collection

Sanctuary is a land of diversity, and so are its mounts. From the Marsh Roan found in the swamps of Hawezar to the Taiga Roan braving the chill of the Fractured Peaks, each mount comes with its unique charm and drop location, offering players a variety of choices based on their adventure locales.

For those who value rarity over all, the Plains Yearling stands as an enigmatic figure with an unknown drop location, teasing the explorers with its mystery.

Promotional Mounts

In the world of Diablo IV, some mounts are less about the grind and more about the glamor. The Light Bearer mount, for example, is a reward for those who pre-ordered any edition of Diablo IV, a gleaming testament to your early support for the game.

Meanwhile, the Temptation Mount serves as digital loot for deluxe and ultimate editions, a symbol of your commitment to conquering evil in style.

Armor For Mounts

Mounts in Diablo IV aren't just for show; they're also for protection. Farming the best gear like the Caparison of Faith Barding and the Hellborn Carapace Barding not only enhances your mount's appearance but also symbolizes your achievements, whether through pre-orders or deluxe editions.

For those who thrive in the PvP arena, armor like the Bloody Warlord's Barding can be acquired with Red Dust, adding a layer of intimidation and resilience to your steed.

Which One to Pick?

So, what's the best horse in Diablo IV? The answer is as varied as the players themselves. Whether you're drawn to the spectral allure of the Spectral Charger, the exclusivity of promotional mounts, or the satisfaction of customizing your steed with formidable armor, your choice reflects your journey through Sanctuary.

One thing is for sure, the type of mount won’t play any role in your character stats. It’s purely cosmetic, so you should go with the one that goes well with your build.

It's about finding that perfect companion that resonates with your playstyle, aesthetics, and the tales you want to tell.

It would have been nice to see mounts that come with unique characteristics and abilities, but maybe that will come with a future update. As of now, choosing the mount comes down to personal preference. On top of that, there aren’t many creative options, to be honest.

Let’s hope that Blizzard would give us at least some special mounts that are actually good-looking. Not that the ones we mentioned weren’t but the choice is limited.
