Cerulean Dye Recipe and Frilled Lichen in WoW Forever

Cerulean Dye Recipe and Frilled Lichen in WoW Forever

Cerulean Dye in WoW Forever is an Alchemy crafting reagent used in Tailoring, Leatherworking, Enchanting and Engineering. Its recipe requires 2 Frilled Lichen and 1 Empty Vial and is learned from an Alchemy trainer. The main challenge is obtaining Frilled Lichen, a Scarce material gathered as a bonus from certain herbs. Beta observations identify Earthroot, Mageroyal, Briarthorn and Bruiseweed as important sources. Players can also purchase Frilled Lichen from a special reagent vendor, although its price makes farming or player trading worth considering. October 2026 tests suggest that character level may restrict gathering, while recipe databases disagree about the exact Alchemy requirement and crafting output. This guide covers the recipe, trainers, herb sources, farming locations, alternative purchasing options, profession uses and crafting-cost calculations without relying on fixed Auction House prices.

Short answer: Learn Cerulean Dye from an Alchemy trainer and combine 2 Frilled Lichen with 1 Empty Vial. Published recipe data lists 40 or 50 Alchemy, so check your trainer and aim for 50 if the recipe is unavailable earlier. Gather Frilled Lichen from eligible herbs, particularly Earthroot, Mageroyal, Briarthorn and Bruiseweed, or check Mister Graphed at Powderfuse Port in the Riverglades. Recent beta tests suggest farming with a character at or below level 25, although Blizzard has not officially confirmed this restriction. Wowhead currently displays 2 Cerulean Dye per craft, but verify the output in your client before planning large batches.

What Cerulean Dye Does in WoW Forever

Cerulean Dye is a crafting reagent introduced in WoW Forever. It has item ID 249409, item level 25 and a maximum stack size of 20. Alchemists manufacture the dye, but its main purpose is supplying recipes from other crafting professions.

The material is important for cloth equipment, Stormrider leather gear, Enchanting recipes and certain Engineering items. This creates a dependency between Herbalism, Alchemy and several other professions: Herbalists gather Frilled Lichen, Alchemists convert it into dye, and other crafters consume the finished product.

Cerulean Dye does not provide a character buff or directly change equipment appearance when used from your inventory. It is a crafting ingredient consumed by recipes that explicitly require it.

Because several new items use this reagent, its availability can affect crafting costs even when the other ingredients are common. An inexpensive Tailoring recipe may still depend on Frilled Lichen through its Cerulean Dye requirement.

The broader WoW Forever Alchemy guide covers profession leveling, potions, elixirs and other recipes. This page focuses on obtaining Cerulean Dye, sourcing Frilled Lichen and calculating the material cost of recipes that use it.

Cerulean Dye Recipe and Required Materials

Cerulean Dye is a low-skill Alchemy craft requiring two different ingredients. Current profession databases list it as trainer-taught rather than a dropped recipe or a reward purchased with Merchant's Favor.

Output2 dye in the Wowhead tooltip; some other records show 1Confirm the current quantity in your Alchemy window.

The Cerulean Dye crafting spell lists 2 Frilled Lichen and 1 Empty Vial as reagents. These ingredient quantities agree across the checked recipe references.

Two discrepancies remain. Wowhead's Alchemy profession guide, updated October 12, lists a minimum skill of 40, while current recipe indexes commonly identify 50. The Wowhead spell tooltip displays 2 finished dye items, whereas some third-party records identify only one or leave the quantity unresolved. Until the active beta client resolves these differences, do not treat one database value as definitive for every build.

For accurate material budgeting, use the requirements and output shown in your own Alchemy window. The reagent quantities are well supported, but the number of finished dye items should be confirmed before committing to a large batch.

Materials for Multiple Cerulean Dye Crafts

Each crafting operation consumes 2 Frilled Lichen and 1 Empty Vial. The materials needed for a batch depend on how many times you perform the recipe:

  • 5 crafts: 10 Frilled Lichen and 5 Empty Vials.
  • 10 crafts: 20 Frilled Lichen and 10 Empty Vials.
  • 20 crafts: 40 Frilled Lichen and 20 Empty Vials.

These totals describe crafting operations rather than a guaranteed number of finished items. If your client produces 2 Cerulean Dye per craft, the respective batches yield 10, 20 and 40 dye. If it produces one, the output is 5, 10 and 20.

Before purchasing ingredients for a large batch, verify the current output with a single craft. This prevents mistakes caused by differences between beta builds or recipe databases.

Where to Learn Cerulean Dye from an Alchemy Trainer

Cerulean Dye is listed as a trainer-taught Alchemy recipe. It does not require a dungeon drop, reputation reward or special crafting station in the checked recipe data.

Alchemy trainers are found in major cities and several starting settlements. The following are established trainer locations that players can check in WoW Forever:

Alchemy trainers to check for Cerulean Dye
TrainerLocationFaction
Lilyssia NightbreezeStormwind, Mage Quarter, 55.6, 85.8Alliance
Tally BerryfizzIronforge, Tinker Town, 67.2, 54.2Alliance
YelmakOrgrimmar, The Drag, 56.6, 33.2Horde
Doctor MarshUndercity, The Apothecarium, 51.6, 75.6Horde

These are Alchemy trainer locations, not separate confirmations that each NPC currently offers Cerulean Dye at every skill rank. Some trainers specialize in particular profession ranks. Check the recipe list and trainer requirements in your build before traveling to another city. Starting-area trainers may also be suitable for learning early Alchemy recipes.

How to Unlock and Craft Cerulean Dye

  1. Learn Alchemy: Visit a profession trainer and learn the appropriate Alchemy rank.
  2. Raise your skill: Progress toward 40–50 Alchemy using accessible low-level recipes.
  3. Check the trainer: Open the training window and look for Cerulean Dye. Show unavailable recipes if the interface supports that option.
  4. Learn the recipe: Purchase the training once you meet the displayed requirements.
  5. Obtain Frilled Lichen: Gather eligible herbs, trade with another player or check Mister Graphed's reagent inventory.
  6. Purchase Empty Vials: Visit an Alchemy supplier or another vendor that stocks them.
  7. Craft the dye: Open Alchemy, select Cerulean Dye and verify the reagents and output before making your batch.

Herbalism is not required to learn or craft Cerulean Dye. An Alchemist can obtain Frilled Lichen through other players or an available vendor without personally gathering herbs.

Likewise, Tailors and Leatherworkers do not need Alchemy on the same character. They can obtain the finished dye from another Alchemist or through player trading.

Can Cerulean Dye Be Used for Alchemy Leveling?

Current spell indexes commonly list Cerulean Dye's skill-color thresholds as 50, 50, 70 and 90. This generally means the recipe is yellow from 50, green from 70 and gray at 90 in those records. However, the listed minimum training skill differs across sources, so verify the recipe color and requirement in your active client.

Even when the recipe can award Alchemy skill points, it may be an expensive leveling option because Frilled Lichen is a Scarce reagent also needed indirectly by several other professions.

Compare its cost with ordinary potions and other available Alchemy recipes at the same skill. A recipe that can increase your skill is not necessarily the cheapest way to level the profession.

How to Get Frilled Lichen in WoW Forever

Frilled Lichen is a Scarce Herbalism reagent with item ID 249399, item level 25 and a maximum stack size of 20. It is generally obtained as an additional reward when gathering eligible herbs, rather than from a dedicated Frilled Lichen node.

Players should therefore target herb nodes that can award Frilled Lichen instead of searching the minimap for a plant with that name. Player trading is another option. In the beta, Mister Graphed at Powderfuse Port in the Riverglades also sells Frilled Lichen. His reported price is 5 gold per item, subject to changes in vendor stock and prices before release. Powderfuse Port is near 78.1, 51.9, and a boat from Steamwheedle Port in Tanaris provides access to the settlement.

Current beta testing identifies Earthroot, Mageroyal, Briarthorn and Bruiseweed as important gathering sources. Wowhead also records some other herbs and an occasional creature drop, but these observations do not establish a dependable alternative farming method in the latest build.

Which Herbs Can Give Frilled Lichen?

Several herb types have gathering records or supporting player observations:

  • Earthroot: An early documented source, including a reported drop at 33 Herbalism and successful beta collections in Durotar, Darkshore and Zephras Isle. Some players have reported different results following beta changes.
  • Mageroyal: Reported in The Barrens and Zephras Isle. One player specifically collected several Frilled Lichen near Camp Taurajo while gathering Mageroyal.
  • Briarthorn: Present in gathering records, with an additional player report confirming Frilled Lichen from Briarthorn in Westfall.
  • Bruiseweed: Included among the eligible herbs proposed in the October 11 Scarce-material testing investigation.
  • Wild Steelbloom and Kingsblood: Recorded in Wowhead gathering data, but their current eligibility under the suspected character-level restrictions remains less certain.

Some earlier reports also mention Peacebloom and Silverleaf. These observations are not sufficient to recommend either herb as a reliable current farming target. Gathering records may include older beta behavior or results from different character conditions.

Database percentages represent recorded observations, not official drop rates. Small or mixed-build samples should not be presented as finalized probabilities.

What Herbalism Skill Is Needed for Frilled Lichen?

No separate Herbalism skill requirement has been confirmed for Frilled Lichen itself. Instead, you must meet the skill requirement of the herb node that can award it.

The usual early gathering requirements are:

  • Earthroot: 15 Herbalism.
  • Mageroyal: 50 Herbalism.
  • Briarthorn: 70 Herbalism.
  • Bruiseweed: 100 Herbalism.
  • Wild Steelbloom: 115 Herbalism, with less certain current Frilled Lichen eligibility.
  • Kingsblood: 125 Herbalism, with the same eligibility caveat.

Frilled Lichen does not require 150 or 300 Herbalism simply because its item level is 25 or it is classified as Scarce. Successful low-skill collection reports show that it can appear during early profession progression. Character-level eligibility may be a separate restriction.

Activate Find Herbs on the minimap and gather suitable nodes normally. Standard Herbalism gathering does not require a separate profession tool.

Where to Farm Frilled Lichen: Locations and Routes

The practical approach is to visit zones containing several eligible herb types and gather as many accessible nodes as possible. The following routes use documented herb locations and player reports. They are suggested farming circuits, not verified rankings of Frilled Lichen per hour.

The Barrens: Mageroyal and Briarthorn

The Barrens has substantial Frilled Lichen gathering evidence. Records include Earthroot, Mageroyal, Briarthorn and Bruiseweed, while a separate player report identifies Mageroyal near Camp Taurajo as a successful source.

Suggested circuit: Start around The Crossroads when collecting lower-skill herbs, then move through areas with Mageroyal and Briarthorn. Alternatively, use Camp Taurajo as a base and circle nearby herb-spawning locations before returning to the settlement.

  1. Activate Find Herbs and search suitable open ground and vegetation for Mageroyal.
  2. Gather Briarthorn and other supported herbs when your Herbalism skill allows it.
  3. Move between multiple herb-spawning areas instead of waiting beside one empty node.
  4. Record which herbs actually award Frilled Lichen under your current character conditions.
  5. Repeat the circuit as gathering nodes respawn.

Do not assume every herb has an identical chance to produce Frilled Lichen. The number of accessible eligible nodes matters more than an unverified claim about the best individual drop rate.

Westfall: Briarthorn Gathering

Westfall is an Alliance-friendly option supported by a report of Frilled Lichen from Briarthorn. Characters with at least 70 Herbalism can include Briarthorn in their gathering routes across the zone.

Suggested circuit: Use Sentinel Hill as a central landmark, check nearby suitable terrain for Briarthorn, and extend the route toward surrounding fields and wooded edges when nodes are scarce.

Prioritize available eligible herbs rather than relying on a rigid path with assumed spawn locations. If Westfall is heavily contested, consider another early Herbalism zone such as Darkshore.

Darkshore has separate reports of Frilled Lichen gathered from Earthroot. Neither location has a sufficiently verified hourly yield to establish that one is consistently superior.

Zephras Isle: Early Earthroot and Mageroyal

Zephras Isle has direct beta gathering reports from Earthroot and Mageroyal, including Mageroyal near Shadowgale Forest at approximately 62.9, 37.1.

An October 11 investigation also described successful Frilled Lichen gathering on a low-level character while collecting Earthroot and Mageroyal through normal quest progression. This supports the zone as an early farming option, but does not establish a guaranteed drop rate.

Suggested circuit: Collect accessible Earthroot and Mageroyal around your questing area, search toward Shadowgale Forest, and return through previously visited herb locations after allowing time for respawns.

This route lets a low-level character combine questing with Herbalism. It may be especially useful while the suspected character-level restriction remains part of the beta gathering system.

Other Option: Earthroot Around Thunder Bluff

Mulgore is another reported source. A comment on Wowhead's Forever Herbalism guide identifies Earthroot north of Thunder Bluff as a successful area for collecting Frilled Lichen.

Search the slopes and surrounding terrain north of Thunder Bluff, following Earthroot nodes shown by Find Herbs. Use a circuit through the available hillside paths rather than waiting for one node to respawn.

This is an alternative gathering option, not evidence that Mulgore has a higher drop chance than The Barrens, Westfall or Zephras Isle.

Frilled Lichen Character Level Restrictions in the Beta

October 2026 beta testing suggests that character level may limit the acquisition of Tier 1 Scarce materials, including Frilled Lichen. This possible restriction is distinct from Herbalism skill and could explain why some high-level characters gather ordinary herbs without receiving the bonus reagent.

In an October 11 community investigation, a player tested gathering on characters from level 1 to 30 and proposed that Frilled Lichen can be collected by characters at or below level 25 from herbs such as Earthroot, Mageroyal, Briarthorn and Bruiseweed.

In a follow-up, the investigator reported obtaining Frilled Lichen at level 25 but none from approximately 150 herb nodes after reaching level 26. Another player described more than 12 hours of unsuccessful gathering on a level-30 character, followed by two Frilled Lichen within roughly 30 nodes on a level-15 character.

These observations strongly justify additional testing but are not an official Blizzard confirmation. The behavior could be intended, a bug or a temporary implementation. Other players have also reported inconsistent scarcity after the October 8 beta update.

Current beta farming advice: If a level-26 to level-30 character repeatedly obtains no Frilled Lichen, try gathering the same eligible herb types on a character at or below level 25. As of October 14, 2026, this is a well-supported community hypothesis, not a permanently established game rule.

Increasing Herbalism skill alone may not address the issue. Keep both character level and profession skill in mind, and recheck the restriction after future beta updates.

Does Bountiful Harvest Help Farm Frilled Lichen?

Bountiful Harvest is a WoW Forever Legacy perk in the Professions tree. Its five ranks increase the amount of Scarce materials discovered through Mining, Herbalism and Skinning by 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100%, respectively, according to current talent descriptions.

This does not mean a 100% drop chance at maximum rank. The wording indicates an increase relative to normal Scarce-material acquisition, not a guaranteed reagent from every node. Beta players have also reported inconsistent gathering results, even with all five ranks invested.

There is no confirmed evidence that Bountiful Harvest overrides the possible character-level restriction. A character who is ineligible for Tier 1 Scarce materials may not benefit from the perk for Frilled Lichen, regardless of investment.

To evaluate the perk, compare gathering results under similar conditions: character level, Herbalism skill, herb type, zone and number of gathered nodes. Avoid attributing all differences to Bountiful Harvest when character eligibility or recent beta changes may also affect the results.

What Professions Use Cerulean Dye?

Although Cerulean Dye is manufactured through Alchemy, its main demand comes from recipes in other professions. Current Forever data includes Tailoring, Leatherworking, Enchanting and Engineering recipes that consume the reagent.

Tailoring: Reagent Bags and Cloth Equipment

Tailoring is an important consumer of Cerulean Dye. Several new cloth recipes use it together with wool, silk, thread and other reagents.

Examples from current Forever recipe data include:

  • Woolen Reagent Bag: 1 Cerulean Dye.
  • Shadow Boots: 2 Cerulean Dye.
  • Pristine Boots: 2 Cerulean Dye.
  • Filigreed Flame Gown: 2 Cerulean Dye.
  • Flame Gown: 6 Cerulean Dye.
  • Runecloth Bag: 2 Cerulean Dye in the current Forever recipe record.

These amounts are the listed dye requirements per crafting operation. Cloth, thread and other reagents are additional costs. Always verify the current recipe in your Tailoring window before crafting multiple items.

Some listed recipes require profession skills beyond the current level-30 beta's normal progression. They are included to explain future reagent demand, not to suggest that all of them can already be crafted during the test.

Leatherworking: Stormrider Equipment

Stormrider Leatherworking recipes require Cerulean Dye in addition to leather and other materials. The amounts vary by equipment slot:

  • Stormrider's Leather Armor: 1 dye.
  • Stormrider's Leather Gloves: 2 dye.
  • Stormrider's Leather Boots: 3 dye.
  • Stormrider's Leather Hood: 4 dye.
  • Stormrider's Leather Tunic: 6 dye.
  • Stormrider's Leather Kilt: 8 dye.

This creates a cross-profession dependency. A Leatherworker who gathers all the required hides and leather may still need an Alchemist or another supplier to obtain the dye.

Before crafting a Stormrider set, total the Cerulean Dye required by the pieces you intend to make, then account for Pristine Leather and the other reagents separately. The WoW Forever Leatherworking guide covers the profession and related equipment crafting in more detail.

Enchanting: Weapon and Equipment Recipes

Current Enchanting records also include Cerulean Dye. Enchant Weapon - Revelation requires 4 dye, while Dreamstaff requires 2, in addition to their other materials.

Other indexed uses include Enchant Necklace - Deflection, Enchant Necklace - Spell Power and selected Libram, Totem and Idol recipes.

Some of these recipes are associated with higher profession skill ranges than the current beta progression normally supports. Their presence in game data does not prove that every formula is presently obtainable or craftable during the level-30 test.

Engineering: SAF-T Tabs and Battery Packs

Engineering has fewer listed uses, but Cerulean Dye still appears in several recipes. SAF-T Tabs require 1 dye, and 9-60 Battery Pack requires 1 dye alongside Pyrite, an Iron Bar and other relevant crafting requirements.

These recipes illustrate the difference between producing and consuming a reagent. Engineers can use Cerulean Dye in their crafts but cannot manufacture it through Engineering alone.

How to Calculate Cerulean Dye Crafting Cost

The cost of Cerulean Dye is largely determined by Frilled Lichen. Empty Vials are inexpensive vendor reagents, while Frilled Lichen may require gathering time, player trading or a purchase from Mister Graphed.

There is no universal Auction House price. Prices vary by realm, supply and beta conditions. Mister Graphed's reported 5-gold Frilled Lichen price provides an alternative purchasing reference in the current beta, but it is not the same as a market price or a guaranteed permanent launch price.

Material Cost Formula

For one Cerulean Dye crafting operation, calculate:

Craft cost = (2 × Frilled Lichen unit price) + (1 × Empty Vial unit price).

For the cost of one finished dye item, divide that result by the confirmed number produced:

Cost per dye = Craft cost ÷ confirmed dye output.

For example, if you buy both Frilled Lichen from Mister Graphed at the reported beta price of 5 gold each, the two lichens cost 10 gold before adding the Empty Vial. If your recipe produces 2 dye, divide the full crafting cost by two. If it produces one, the full cost applies to one finished dye. Compare these results with player prices before choosing a source.

Self-gathered Frilled Lichen also has an opportunity cost. You could sell it instead of crafting with it, so compare the market value of your gathered materials with the value of the finished dye.

Calculating Dye Cost for Equipment

Once you know the cost per finished dye, calculate the dye component of another crafting recipe:

Dye cost for equipment = Dye quantity required × Cost per finished dye.

For example, a recipe requiring 4 Cerulean Dye consumes four times your current dye unit cost. Leather, cloth, thread, Enchanting materials and other ingredients must be included separately.

If your Alchemy recipe produces multiple dye items, calculate the number of crafting operations needed and account for leftover dye. When several equipment recipes share one batch, do not round the material cost upward independently for every item.

Should You Craft Cerulean Dye or Buy It?

Compare the price of finished Cerulean Dye with the cost of making it using Frilled Lichen and Empty Vials. Check current Auction House listings, player trades and the reagent vendor instead of relying on outdated beta price screenshots.

Crafting can be cheaper when Frilled Lichen is readily available or finished dye is overpriced. Buying finished dye may be more economical when raw materials cost more, you lack Alchemy or you only need a small quantity.

If you plan to sell the dye, account for Auction House fees and the possibility that listings will not sell. A listed sale price above the material cost does not automatically mean a guaranteed profit.

Herbalists and Alchemists should also compare selling raw Frilled Lichen with turning it into dye. Mister Graphed's reported vendor price may limit how much buyers are willing to pay for raw lichen, but actual profitability depends on your realm's prices, crafting output and current demand.

Why Frilled Lichen Is Not Dropping

Gathering many herbs without obtaining Frilled Lichen does not necessarily mean you are using the wrong route. Beta restrictions, reagent rarity, changing gathering behavior and differences between recorded sources may all contribute.

Your Character May Be Too High Level

October 2026 community testing suggests that characters above level 25 may not receive this tier of Scarce material. This is an important possibility to investigate when a level-30 Herbalist collects ordinary herbs but no Frilled Lichen.

Try the same eligible herb types with a lower-level Herbalist and compare the results. Remember that the proposed threshold has not been officially confirmed and may change.

You May Be Gathering Ineligible Herbs

Frilled Lichen has been reported from several herb types, but not every herb node is a confirmed source. Higher-level herbs may instead reward different tiers of Scarce materials, and older beta gathering records may not reflect current conditions.

For an initial test, prioritize Earthroot, Mageroyal and Briarthorn. Bruiseweed is another candidate supported by the October community investigation.

Receiving normal herbs or another bonus gathering item does not guarantee that a particular node can provide Frilled Lichen.

You May Be Experiencing Rare or Inconsistent Rewards

Beta players have reported sharply different results. Some obtained Frilled Lichen while leveling, while others collected hundreds of herbs with few or no successful drops.

The Frilled Lichen rarity discussion documents these experiences. They may reflect character-level eligibility, changes between beta builds or normal variation in an uncommon reward.

Do not infer a reliable percentage from a small sample. Record character level, Herbalism skill, herb names, zone and number of completed gathers when troubleshooting.

Cerulean Dye Is Missing from the Trainer

Check your Alchemy skill and whether the trainer window is displaying unavailable recipes. Wowhead's profession guide lists 40 skill, while several recipe indexes list 50. If the recipe is absent at 40, check again at 50 and confirm that the NPC teaches your required Alchemy rank.

Make sure you are speaking to an Alchemy trainer rather than a nearby profession-supply vendor. Buying Empty Vials does not unlock the recipe.

The Recipe Is Learned but Cannot Be Crafted

Make sure you have 2 Frilled Lichen and 1 Empty Vial for every intended crafting operation. Ordinary herbs cannot replace Frilled Lichen.

If the recipe remains unavailable, inspect its tooltip and any displayed error message. The checked spell data does not list a special campsite workstation or cooldown requirement for Cerulean Dye.

Cerulean Dye and Frilled Lichen FAQ

These answers address common questions about learning Cerulean Dye, obtaining its ingredients and using the finished reagent.

Where do you get Cerulean Dye in WoW Forever? Alchemists craft it from 2 Frilled Lichen and 1 Empty Vial after learning the recipe from a trainer. Players can also obtain finished dye through trading.

What Alchemy level is needed for Cerulean Dye? The Wowhead Alchemy guide lists 40, while several recipe indexes list 50. Check your trainer at 40 and again at 50 if necessary.

Where can I find Frilled Lichen? Gather eligible herbs such as Earthroot, Mageroyal, Briarthorn and Bruiseweed. Reported zones include The Barrens, Westfall, Zephras Isle, Mulgore and Darkshore. You can also check player trading or Mister Graphed at Powderfuse Port in the Riverglades.

Is Frilled Lichen a separate herb node? No dedicated Frilled Lichen node has been established. Herbalists normally receive it as a bonus from eligible herb nodes.

Do I need Herbalism to craft Cerulean Dye? No. Alchemy is the crafting profession. Herbalism is one way to obtain Frilled Lichen, but the ingredient can also be purchased or traded.

Can a level-30 character gather Frilled Lichen? Recent community testing suggests that characters above level 25 may not receive it from eligible herbs. This remains an unconfirmed beta restriction.

Does Bountiful Harvest guarantee Frilled Lichen? No. The perk provides up to 100% more Scarce materials, not a guaranteed drop from each herb. It is not known to override the suspected character-level restriction.

How many Cerulean Dye do you get per craft? Wowhead currently displays 2 dye, while some other recipe records differ. Check your actual crafting output before purchasing materials for a large batch.

What is Cerulean Dye used for? Forever recipes use it in Tailoring, Leatherworking, Enchanting and Engineering. Examples include Woolen Reagent Bags, Shadow Boots, Stormrider leather equipment, Enchant Weapon - Revelation and SAF-T Tabs.

Is crafting Cerulean Dye cheaper than buying it? It depends on Frilled Lichen prices, your recipe output and the current price of finished dye. Compare player listings, self-gathering and the beta reagent vendor before deciding.

Conclusion

Cerulean Dye is a cross-profession crafting reagent in WoW Forever. Alchemists learn its recipe from a trainer and use 2 Frilled Lichen and 1 Empty Vial per operation. The main challenge is obtaining Frilled Lichen efficiently under the changing gathering conditions of the October 2026 beta.

Start with documented herb sources such as Earthroot, Mageroyal and Briarthorn, and use a route suited to your Herbalism skill. If a higher-level character repeatedly receives no Frilled Lichen, investigate the possible level-25 restriction. Player trading and Mister Graphed's reagent inventory offer alternatives to direct gathering.

Before crafting equipment or selling dye, confirm the current recipe output, compare material prices and account for the dye required by each profession recipe. Because these findings come from an active beta, gathering restrictions, vendor prices and recipe data should be checked again after major updates and at launch.
