Earthen Echo Quest Walkthrough in WoW Forever

Earthen Echo Quest Walkthrough in WoW Forever

Earthen Echo is the Horde follow-up to Elder Knowledge in WoW Forever. The chain begins with a Titan Relic looted from Relic Guardian in Excavation Site: Wetlands, continues with Bashana Runetotem in Thunder Bluff, and ends with Muln Earthfury at Skywatcher Plateau in Mulgore. This walkthrough covers the October 2026 beta, including level requirements, the mountain route, reward choices, and the missing-relic bug. Blizzard officially addressed the Titan Relic handoff on October 8, so older reports describing the quest as impossible to complete no longer reflect its intended behavior.

Short answer: At level 24 or higher, loot the Titan Relic from Relic Guardian and use it to begin Elder Knowledge. Complete that quest with Bashana Runetotem, then accept Earthen Echo and check that the relic has been returned to your bags. Deliver it to Muln Earthfury at approximately 33.4, 22.5 in Mulgore. The mountain path begins around 40.3, 17.6.

Earthen Echo Requirements and Starting NPC

Earthen Echo starts with Bashana Runetotem after completing Elder Knowledge. Visiting Muln Earthfury first does not bypass the prerequisite. He is the destination for the follow-up quest, not its starting NPC.

The level-31 quest label does not mean you must reach level 31 to accept Earthen Echo. Blizzard opened Excavation Site: Wetlands for beta testing on October 1 with a dungeon level range of 26–31. The beta level cap subsequently stood at 30. Level 24 is the quest's minimum eligibility requirement, not a recommended level for clearing the dungeon without an appropriately prepared group.

Alliance characters have a separate chain: Lost Relic Carry leads to Prehistoric Prism. Both factions obtain a Titan Relic from Relic Guardian, but Earthen Echo itself is Horde-only.

How to Get the Titan Relic and Start Elder Knowledge

The first step takes place inside Excavation Site: Wetlands. Defeat Relic Guardian, the dungeon's final boss, and check its loot for the Titan Relic before leaving the instance.

  1. Reach Relic Guardian with your dungeon group. The Titan Relic comes from this boss. Traveling directly to Thunder Bluff without starting Elder Knowledge will not unlock Earthen Echo.
  2. Loot the Titan Relic. Check your own loot and inventory. Another party member obtaining the relic does not automatically start your quest.
  3. Use the relic to accept Elder Knowledge. This item starts the Horde quest directing you to the Elder Rise in Thunder Bluff.
  4. Bring the relic to Bashana Runetotem. The first quest requires the item. Under the corrected beta behavior, the relic is provided again for Earthen Echo after the handoff.

Elder Knowledge is an item-start quest and cannot be shared normally. Each eligible player must obtain their own quest-starting item. A reliable current drop-rate percentage has not been established, so avoid planning a specific number of dungeon runs around an unverified rate.

If you are preparing a run, the WoW Forever Dungeon Quests guide covers additional dungeon quest chains. Earthen Echo itself is the delivery stage that follows the initial dungeon objective.

Complete Elder Knowledge with Bashana Runetotem

Travel to Thunder Bluff and find Bashana Runetotem inside a tent on the Elder Rise. Her commonly reported location is approximately 70.8, 33.7 on the Thunder Bluff map. Another quest database places her near 71.1, 34.2. Both references point to the same general area, so look for the NPC inside the tent rather than relying on an exact decimal coordinate.

Turn in Elder Knowledge, speak to Bashana again, and accept Earthen Echo. Check your quest log to confirm that the follow-up is active. Also verify that the Titan Relic is in your inventory before leaving Thunder Bluff.

Originally, completing Elder Knowledge could consume the relic without supplying the item needed for Earthen Echo. Blizzard's October 8 beta update corrected this handoff so the relic is returned for the follow-up. You should not need to defeat Relic Guardian again. If the item is still missing, follow the recovery instructions below.

Muln Earthfury Location and Skywatcher Plateau Route

Muln Earthfury is inside the largest tent at Skywatcher Plateau, approximately 33.4, 22.5 in Mulgore. The important navigation detail is the mountain entrance. Heading directly toward Muln's coordinates from the surrounding lowlands can leave you below the plateau, with no direct route up the slope.

Follow the Mountain Path to the Plateau

Leave Thunder Bluff toward northern Mulgore and head for the mountain path near 40.3, 17.6. Follow the trail uphill to Skywatcher Plateau, then approach the tents and locate Muln. This plateau is a new Forever location associated with the route toward the Skyborne area of Zephras Isle. The coordinates are approximate, so follow the visible trail instead of trying to climb the mountain directly.

For an additional map reference, open the Mulgore location on Muln Earthfury's Wowhead Forever page. Use the Forever NPC record rather than coordinates from other World of Warcraft versions, where the same character may appear elsewhere.

Thunder Bluff and Mulgore use separate coordinate maps. Bashana's coordinates apply to the city map, while the mountain entrance and Muln's tent use the Mulgore map. Switch maps when following the route.

Turn In the Relic Even if the Map Marker Is Missing

Beta players have reported completing Earthen Echo even when its destination marker did not appear. If the quest is active and the Titan Relic is in your bags, go to Muln's tent and speak to him directly. A missing map marker does not necessarily mean the quest itself is broken.

Deliver the relic to Muln, review the three equipment rewards, and select one. Earthen Echo requires item delivery only; the recorded objective does not include another boss fight or a separate combat encounter on Skywatcher Plateau.

Earthen Echo Rewards and Which Item to Choose

Completing Earthen Echo lets you choose one of three rewards: Heavehammer, Healer's Staff, or Furs of the Earthen Ring. You cannot claim all three from a single completion. Your best choice depends on your class, specialization, weapon options, and current equipment.

Earthen Echo reward choices
RewardEquipment typeWhat to compare
HeavehammerTwo-handed maceA melee-oriented choice. The October beta item listing shows 73–110 weapon damage, 3.30 speed, 60 Armor, and 32 Attack Power. Compare it with your current weapon and confirm that your class can equip two-handed maces.
Healer's StaffTwo-handed staffConsider it for a mana-using caster or healer, particularly when its mana regeneration and other current stats improve your setup. Compare it with your existing staff or your main-hand and off-hand combination.
Furs of the Earthen RingBack-slot cloakA flexible alternative if neither weapon is an upgrade or your class cannot use them effectively. Compare its current attributes with your equipped cloak; its stats have changed during beta tuning.

Current indexed quest data lists 3,150 experience and 60 silver in addition to the selected item. These are the latest checked beta database values, not a guarantee against future adjustments. Some older references still display 6,950 experience; that value predates the dungeon quest experience reductions and should not be presented as the current reward.

Reward tuning is important when choosing equipment. Blizzard's October 8 notes reduced various dungeon quest rewards from Rare to Uncommon and adjusted their stats. Not every reward necessarily received the same change. Check the item tooltip in your current beta build before selecting, especially if an older guide recommends an item based on different attributes.

Earthen Echo Bug: Missing Titan Relic and Recovery Steps

The original issue caused the Titan Relic to disappear after Elder Knowledge was completed, leaving players unable to deliver it during Earthen Echo. The Alliance equivalent affected Lost Relic Carry and Prehistoric Prism. On October 8, Blizzard officially stated that the relic would be returned for both follow-up quests, eliminating the need to obtain another one from the dungeon.

If You Accepted the Quest Before the Fix

Players have reported restoring the missing Titan Relic by abandoning and accepting Earthen Echo again. This method has worked for several beta testers, but some earlier reports described difficulty picking the quest back up. The official patch note confirms the relic handoff fix, not a guaranteed automatic repair for every previously affected character. Check your current quest state before abandoning anything.

  1. Check the quest log and your inventory. Make sure Earthen Echo is active and confirm whether the Titan Relic is actually missing.
  2. Return to Bashana Runetotem on the Elder Rise. She is the follow-up quest giver. Muln is the final delivery NPC.
  3. If the relic remains missing, consider abandoning only Earthen Echo and accepting it again. This is a player-reported workaround, not a guaranteed solution. Make sure you are abandoning the correct quest and check whether Bashana offers it again.
  4. If the relic is restored, travel to Muln Earthfury. Follow the mountain route even if the quest destination marker is absent.
  5. If you cannot accept the quest again or the relic is still missing, submit a beta bug report. Include quest ID 98823, your character's quest status, the beta build, and whether the issue began before October 8.

Do not assume another dungeon clear will provide a replacement. Early testers reported that killing Relic Guardian again did not resolve the missing-item problem after the first quest had already been turned in. Blizzard's official fix addresses the quest handoff rather than requiring players to farm another relic.

If Muln Does Not Accept the Quest

Check that Earthen Echo is active in your quest log, the Titan Relic is in your inventory, and you are speaking to Muln Earthfury at Skywatcher Plateau. If these conditions are met but the quest cannot be completed, report the remaining quest-state issue. A missing map pin by itself is not proof that the quest is broken.

Earthen Echo and Earthen Ring Reputation

The Earthen Ring has a narrative role in Earthen Echo. Bashana sends the ancient artifact to Muln because the organization has knowledge of forgotten lands and relics. This story connection does not establish a reputation requirement or make the quest a repeatable reputation-farming activity.

The checked quest records list the delivery objective and equipment rewards but do not establish an Earthen Ring reputation threshold or a verified reputation gain for completing Earthen Echo. There is no supported requirement to farm Earthen Ring reputation before beginning the chain.

Furs of the Earthen Ring is also simply the name of one quest reward. It is not presented as a reputation-vendor purchase. Do not apply reputation, tabard, or vendor requirements from other World of Warcraft versions to this Forever quest.

Earthen Echo FAQ

These additional checks help distinguish quest eligibility, completion history, and reward access.

Is Earthen Echo only available to Shamans or Tauren?
No. The checked quest record lists a Horde faction requirement, a minimum level, and the Elder Knowledge prerequisite, but no Shaman-only or Tauren-only restriction. Muln's connection to the Earthen Ring does not make it a class quest.

Can a party member share the Titan Relic starting quest?
No. Elder Knowledge is an item-start quest that is not normally shareable. Each eligible player must obtain their own Titan Relic from Relic Guardian and use it to start the quest.

How can I check whether I already completed Earthen Echo?
Use the in-game command /run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(98823)). A result of true indicates that your character has completed the quest. A result of false only indicates that it has not been flagged as completed; it does not identify a missing prerequisite.

Can I obtain all three rewards from one completion?
No. You select one of the three offered items. Compare the current tooltips before accepting the reward, since beta item stats can change.

Conclusion

Complete Elder Knowledge with Bashana Runetotem, confirm that Earthen Echo is active and the Titan Relic has been returned, then follow the northern Mulgore mountain path to Muln Earthfury. The October 8 beta fix means a second dungeon run should not be necessary just to replace the relic. If an older quest state remains broken, check the reported reaccept workaround carefully and submit a bug report if needed. Choose your final reward based on the current in-game item stats.
