WoW Forever dungeon quests are most valuable when you collect the full quest package before entering an instance. Many objectives begin in capital cities, leveling zones, earlier quest chains, class quests, dropped items, or even another dungeon, so simply walking through the portal can leave a large part of the run unfinished.
The current Forever beta is capped at level 30 and currently exposes Ragefire Chasm, Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron, Wailing Caverns, The Deadmines, Shadowfang Keep, The Stockade, Blackfathom Deeps, Gnomeregan, Razorfen Kraul, Scarlet Monastery, Excavation Site: Wetlands, Razorfen Downs, and Uldaman. This guide lists the verified quest preparation for that current beta range and tracks later Forever dungeons separately until their quests can be tested.
Short answer: Collect every available dungeon quest before your first full run, especially prerequisite chains and item-start quests. Dungeon quests still provide strong one-time value, but after the October 1 beta change they grant 50% less extra XP beyond their normal quest values.
Which Dungeons Are Currently Available in the WoW Forever Beta?
Blizzard raised the beta cap to level 30 on October 1 and expanded the test roster considerably. Excavation Site: Wetlands is the newest Forever dungeon available in this build, with an official dungeon range of levels 26–31. City of Dalaran is not enabled in the current public beta build.
| Dungeon | Current beta status | Useful quest level | Quest preparation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ragefire Chasm | Available | 9+ | Horde quest package |
| Hall of Thanes | Available | 9–10+; dungeon 13–18 | Three Alliance quests plus two quests available to both factions |
| Ruins of Lordaeron | Available | 15–16 | Separate Horde and Alliance packages |
| Wailing Caverns | Available | 13–15 | Several Barrens and Thunder Bluff quests |
| The Deadmines | Available | 9–20 | Alliance package, a new Forever chain, and Paladin class objectives |
| Shadowfang Keep | Available | 16–20 | Horde quests plus class quests |
| The Stockade | Available | 16–25 | Alliance quests with several prerequisite chains |
| Blackfathom Deeps | Available | 17–21+ | Faction and class-specific quest mix |

| Scarlet Monastery | Available | 25–34+ | Wing-specific and multi-wing quests |

| Razorfen Downs | Available for testing from level 25 | 28–39 | Several quests remain above the current cap |
| Uldaman | Available for testing from level 30 | 30–40 | Most complete quest stacking requires levels above the current cap |

How Much XP Do Dungeon Quests Give in WoW Forever?
Dungeon quests remain important, but their beta XP tuning changed on October 1. Blizzard reduced the extra Forever XP granted by dungeon quests by 50% beyond their normal quest values. The underlying normal quest reward was not simply cut in half.
This makes the intended strategy clearer: dungeon quests are still worth preparing because they combine experience with equipment, reputation and progression, but repeatedly entering a dungeon without new quests is much less attractive as a pure leveling method.
The most efficient use of a dungeon is therefore usually the first properly prepared run:
- Complete required outdoor prerequisites.
- Collect every quest your faction and class can use.
- Enter close to the dungeon's practical level range.
- Complete as many objectives as possible in one clear.
- Turn in the full package before deciding whether gear farming justifies another run.
Ragefire Chasm Dungeon Quests
Ragefire Chasm is the first major Horde dungeon package and is easiest to stack once you have completed the early Orgrimmar prerequisite chain for Hidden Enemies.
| Quest | Min level | Faction | Pickup | Requirement / note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Slaying the Beast | 9 | Horde | Neeru Fireblade, Orgrimmar /way 49 50 | Boss objective |
| The Power to Destroy... | 9 | Horde | Varimathras, Undercity /way 56 92 | Collect the two Shadow Council books |
| Testing an Enemy's Strength | 9 | Horde | Rahauro, Thunder Bluff /way 70 30 | Kill Ragefire enemies |
| Searching for the Lost Satchel | 9 | Horde | Rahauro, Thunder Bluff /way 70 30 | Leads to the satchel inside RFC |
| Returning the Lost Satchel | 9 | Horde | Grimtotem Satchel inside RFC | Follow-up started inside the dungeon |
| Hidden Enemies | 9 | Horde | Thrall, Orgrimmar /way 31 37 | Requires the earlier Hidden Enemies chain |
The most valuable preparation mistake to avoid is arriving without Hidden Enemies. It is not simply picked up at the dungeon portal; the preceding steps must already be completed.

View All WoW Forever ServicesHall of Thanes Dungeon Quests
Hall of Thanes currently has five documented dungeon quests. The Restless Dead, Old Ironforge Incursion and The Treaty of Understanding are Alliance-only, while Important Heirlooms and An Ancient Grudge are available to both factions in the current beta.
| Quest | Min level | Pickup | Requirement / start type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Important Heirlooms | 10 | Thom Filch, Old Ironforge /way 32.6 44.6 | Both factions; collect Dwarven Heirlooms |
| The Restless Dead | 10 | Afadra Dunwall, Old Ironforge | Alliance-only |
| Old Ironforge Incursion | 9 | Earthseer Farsen, Gol'Golar Quarry | Alliance-only; requires the Dark Iron Map / Underground Map progression |
| The Treaty of Understanding | 9 | Reliquary of Kings inside the dungeon | Alliance-only; interactable quest start in the final section |
| An Ancient Grudge | 10 | Ghostly Attendant, Anvilmar's Rest | Both factions; starts inside the dungeon |
The dedicated Hall of Thanes Guide covers the entrance, route, bosses and current loot separately. This page only tracks how to arrive with the correct quest package.
Ruins of Lordaeron Dungeon Quests
Ruins of Lordaeron is unusually quest-heavy because Horde and Alliance receive separate objective sets. Current beta coverage documents six Horde quests and four Alliance quests.
Horde Quests
Horde should collect the four outside quests before traveling to the instance; Unending Torment and Crest of Lordaeron begin inside.
| Quest | Level | Pickup | Important note |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Wrath of Rath'mael | 15 | Deathguard Kristof, Tirisfal Glades /way 65.2 60.2 | Defeat Rath'mael |
| A Frightened Request | 15 | Tabitha Heartweaver, The Sepulcher /way 44.6 42.8 | Outside pickup |
| Light's Justice | 15 | Morbin Lightbane, Undercity /way 57.8 89.8 | Outside pickup |
| The New Plague | 16 | Theodore Griffs, Undercity /way 47.0 72.6 | Outside pickup |
| Unending Torment | 16 | The Baron area inside the dungeon | Looted-item start |
| Crest of Lordaeron | 16 | Interactable object inside the dungeon | The crest can appear in multiple locations |
Alliance Quests
Alliance objectives are picked up inside or through items found within the dungeon, so an Alliance group should actively check the entrance and quest-start objects rather than expect a normal capital-city package.
| Quest | Level | Start | Important note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Abominable Creatures | 16 | Captain Truman at the dungeon entrance | Alliance objective |
| Bloodied Insignia | 16 | Drops from undead mobs | Item-based progress |
| Crest of Lordaeron | 16 | Interactable inside the dungeon | Alliance version of the crest objective |
| Remember That I Love You | 15 | Blood-Stained Letter near Rath'mael | Interactable / item-start quest |
The Ruins of Lordaeron Guide has the boss route and tested beta loot.
Wailing Caverns Dungeon Quests
Wailing Caverns has several quests from different parts of the Barrens and Thunder Bluff, making it easy to miss part of the package if you travel directly to the cave.
| Quest | Level | Pickup | Prerequisite / note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Serpentbloom | 14 | Apothecary Zamah, Thunder Bluff /way 34 21 | Collect Serpentbloom |
| Smart Drinks | 13 | Mebok Mizzyrix, Ratchet /way 62 37 | Complete Raptor Horns first |
| Trouble at the Docks | 14 | Crane Operator Bigglefuzz, Ratchet /way 63 37 | Neutral |
| Deviate Hides | 13 | Nalpak above the WC entrance /way 46 35 | Neutral |
| Deviate Eradication | 15 | Ebru above the WC entrance /way 46 35 | Neutral |
| The Glowing Shard | 15 | Drops from Mutanus the Devourer | Item-start quest after the final event |
| Leaders of the Fang | 15 | Nara Wildmane, Thunder Bluff /way 45 23 | Requires prior Barrens progression |
The Deadmines Dungeon Quests
The Deadmines is primarily an Alliance quest dungeon, with several objectives tied to the Defias story. Forever also adds the Alliance-only Destruction in Deadmines objective through the Toxic Soil storyline, while Paladin class progression adds separate dungeon objectives.
| Quest | Level | Pickup | Prerequisite / note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Collecting Memories | 14 | Wilder Thistlenettle, Stormwind /way 65 21 | Alliance |
| Oh Brother... | 15 | Wilder Thistlenettle, Stormwind /way 65 21 | Alliance |
| Underground Assault | 15 | Shoni the Shilent, Stormwind /way 55 13 | Alliance |
| Red Silk Bandanas | 14 | Scout Riell, Sentinel Hill /way 56 47 | Requires Defias quest progression |
| The Defias Brotherhood | 14 | Gryan Stoutmantle, Sentinel Hill /way 56 47 | Long Westfall chain |
| The Unsent Letter | 16 | Drops from Edwin VanCleef | Leads toward The Stockade Riots |
| The Test of Righteousness | 20 | Jordan Stilwell, Ironforge /way 52 36 | Alliance Paladin class chain |
| A Moon-Kissed Blade | 20 | Lumina Windsinger, Silverpine Forest /way 43 40 | Horde Paladin chain and Forever counterpart to the Paladin weapon progression |
The Unsent Letter is especially important because it connects Deadmines preparation to a later Stockade quest. Do not vendor or ignore the quest-start item from VanCleef. Also prepare the Forever-only Destruction in Deadmines chain: it requires level 9, comes from Alba Fairmoon's Toxic Soil storyline, and eventually sends you to plant Extra-Destructive Explosives at the forge inside the dungeon.
Shadowfang Keep Dungeon Quests
Shadowfang Keep remains strongly Horde-oriented, but class quests can bring Alliance Paladins and Warlocks into the instance for specific objectives.
| Quest | Level | Faction / class | Pickup |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Book of Ur | 16 | Horde | Keeper Bel'dugur, Undercity /way 53 54 |
| Deathstalkers in Shadowfang | 18 | Horde | High Executor Hadrec, The Sepulcher /way 43 41 |
| Arugal Must Die | 18 | Horde | Dalar Dawnweaver, The Sepulcher /way 44 39 |
| The Orb of Soran'ruk | 20 | Warlock | Doan Karhan, The Barrens /way 49 57 |
| The Test of Righteousness | 20 | Alliance Paladin | Jordan Stilwell, Ironforge /way 52 36 |
Blackfathom Deeps Dungeon Quests
Blackfathom Deeps has one of the more complicated early quest packages because faction quests, class quests, dropped quest items and follow-ups overlap inside the same run.
| Quest | Level | Faction / class | Preparation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Knowledge in the Deeps | 10 | Alliance | Gerrig Bonegrip, Ironforge /way 50 5 |
| Researching the Corruption | 18 | Alliance | Gershala Nightwhisper, Auberdine /way 38 43 |
| Twilight Falls | 20 | Alliance | Argent Guard Manados, Darnassus /way 55 24 |
| In Search of Thaelrid | 18 | Alliance | Dawnwatcher Shaedlass, Darnassus /way 55 24 |
| Blackfathom Villainy | 18 | Faction versions | Begins from Argent Guard Thaelrid inside BFD |
| The Essence of Aku'Mai | 17 | Horde | Je'neu Sancrea, Zoram'gar /way 11 34 |
| Amongst the Ruins | 21 | Horde | Je'neu Sancrea; requires earlier progression |
| Baron Aquanis | 21 | Horde | Starts from Strange Water Globe |
| Allegiance to the Old Gods | 17 | Horde | Starts from Damp Note outside the instance |
| The Orb of Soran'ruk | 20 | Warlock | Doan Karhan, The Barrens |
| The Test of Righteousness | 20 | Alliance Paladin | Class progression objective |
Amongst the Ruins is worth preparing correctly because taking the Fathom Core also enables the Baron Aquanis sequence.
The Stockade Dungeon Quests
The Stockade quest package is Alliance-only and rewards players who prepare several outdoor quest chains before entering Stormwind's prison.
| Quest | Level | Pickup | Prerequisite |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quell the Uprising | 22 | Warden Thelwater, outside Stockade /way 41 58 | None listed |
| The Color of Blood | 22 | Nikova Raskol, Stormwind Old Town | Patrolling NPC |
| Crime and Punishment | 22 | Councilman Millstipe, Darkshire /way 42 47 | Travel required |
| What Comes Around... | 22 | Guard Berton, Lakeshire /way 26 46 | Travel required |
| The Fury Runs Deep | 25 | Motley Garmason, Dun Modr /way 49 18 | Requires The Dark Iron War |
| The Stockade Riots | 16 | Warden Thelwater | Requires the chain beginning with VanCleef's Unsent Letter |
Gnomeregan Dungeon Quests
Gnomeregan has one of the largest quest packages in the current level-30 beta. Horde also has a dedicated teleport-access chain, so preparation differs considerably by faction.
| Quest | Level | Faction | Pickup / note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rig Wars | 25 | Horde | Nogg, Orgrimmar /way 76 25 |
| Chief Engineer Scooty | 20 | Horde | Sovik, Orgrimmar; requires Rig Wars |
| Gnomer-gooooone! | 20 | Horde | Scooty, Booty Bay /way 27 77 |
| Save Techbot's Brain! | 20 | Alliance | Tinkmaster Overspark, Ironforge /way 69 50 |
| Gyrodrillmatic Excavationators | 20 | Alliance | Shoni the Shilent, Stormwind /way 55 12 |
| Essential Artificials | 24 | Alliance | Klockmort Spannerspan, Ironforge /way 47 64 |
| Data Rescue | 25 | Alliance | Master Mechanic Castpipe, Ironforge /way 69 48 |
| The Grand Betrayal | 25 | Alliance | High Tinker Mekkatorque, Ironforge /way 68 49 |
| Gnogaine | 20 | Alliance | Ozzie Togglevolt, Kharanos /way 45 49 |
| The Only Cure is More Green Glow | 20 | Alliance | Ozzie Togglevolt; complete Gnogaine first |
| The Sparklematic 5200! | 25 | Neutral mechanic | Uses Grime-Encrusted Objects inside Gnomeregan |
| A Fine Mess | 20 | Neutral | Kernobee escort inside the dungeon |
| Grime-Encrusted Ring | 28 | Neutral | Starts from a dropped ring |
Razorfen Kraul Dungeon Quests
Razorfen Kraul connects directly into later dungeon progression because some of its quests unlock follow-ups in Scarlet Monastery and Razorfen Downs.
| Quest | Level | Pickup | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| A Vengeful Fate | 29 | Auld Stonespire, Thunder Bluff /way 37 29 | Horde boss quest |
| Going, Going, Guano! | 30 | Master Apothecary Faranell, Undercity /way 48 69 | Prerequisite for Hearts of Zeal |
| An Unholy Alliance | 28 | Small Scroll from Charlga Razorflank | Leads into Razorfen Downs |
| The Crone of the Kraul | 29 | Falfindel Waywarder, Feralas /way 89 46 | Requires Lonebrow's Journal |
| Mortality Wanes | 25 | Heralath Fallowbrook inside RFK | Inside-dungeon start |
| Blueleaf Tubers | 20 | Mebok Mizzyrix, Ratchet /way 62 37 | Neutral collection quest |
| Willix the Importer | 22 | Willix inside RFK | Escort quest near the end of the dungeon |
Scarlet Monastery Dungeon Quests
Scarlet Monastery is a multi-wing dungeon hub, so several quests span multiple wings while others belong specifically to Graveyard or Library. With the beta capped at 30, not every high-level quest in the package is currently obtainable.
| Quest | Level | Wing | Prerequisite / note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Into The Scarlet Monastery | 33 | Multiple wings | Horde; Varimathras in Undercity |
| In the Name of the Light | 34 | Multiple wings | Alliance; requires the Brother Anton / Down the Scarlet Path chain |
| Vorrel's Revenge | 25 | Graveyard | Starts from Vorrel Sengutz inside Graveyard |
| Hearts of Zeal | 30 | Graveyard | Requires Going, Going, Guano! from Razorfen Kraul |
| Compendium of the Fallen | 28 | Library | Horde; unavailable to Undead characters |
| Test of Lore | 25 | Library | Requires the longer Test of Faith chain |
| Mythology of the Titans | 28 | Library | Alliance; Librarian Mae Paledust in Ironforge |
| Rituals of Power | 30 | Library | Mage-only; requires Journey to the Marsh chain |
The Scarlet Key remains relevant for later wings: Armory and Cathedral require a group member with the key, Lockpicking 175, or another valid lock-opening method when those wings become relevant to the character.
Excavation Site: Wetlands Dungeon Quests
Excavation Site opened for testing with the October 1 level-30 beta update. Blizzard lists the dungeon itself as level 26–31. Current beta references already expose a provisional set of level-24 dungeon quests, but several starts, faction restrictions and prerequisites are still explicitly being verified.
That distinction matters: level 24 is currently seen on several quest requirements, while 26–31 is Blizzard's official dungeon range for this build. The available quest data should therefore not be presented as a fully verified final package yet, and unrelated outdoor Wetlands quests should not be labeled dungeon quests simply because they occur near Whelgar's Excavation.
Update requirement: Keep the Excavation Site quest section provisional until the beta confirms the complete objective list, faction access, prerequisites, pickup points and rewards. Current references include level-24 quests such as Changing Tastes, Elder Knowledge, Earthen Echo, Open the Maw and several Alliance-side chains, but the beta documentation is still being updated.
Razorfen Downs Dungeon Quests
Razorfen Downs is accessible for beta testing from level 25, but several of its normal quest requirements are above the current level-30 cap. The table is therefore useful mainly as preparation for later testing and launch.
| Quest | Level | Pickup | Prerequisite / note |
|---|---|---|---|
| An Unholy Alliance | 28 | Varimathras, Undercity | Requires the RFK An Unholy Alliance step |
| Bring the End | 37 | Andrew Brownell, Undercity /way 74.0 32.8 | Horde final-boss objective |
| Bring the Light | 39 | Archbishop Benedictus, Stormwind /way 50.3 45.6 | Alliance final-boss objective |
| A Host of Evil | 28 | Myriam Moonsinger outside RFD /way 49.0 94.8 | Neutral kill quest |
| Scourge of the Downs | 32 | Belnistrasz inside RFD | Prerequisite for Extinguishing the Idol |
| Extinguishing the Idol | 32 | Belnistrasz | Escort/event follow-up |
Uldaman Dungeon Quests
Uldaman is available in the level-30 beta build from level 30, but most of its complete quest package requires characters above the current cap. Only the early quest preparation can currently be tested on a normal capped character.
| Quest | Level | Faction | Prerequisite / pickup |
|---|---|---|---|
| Power Stones | 30 | Neutral | Rigglefuzz, Badlands /way 42 52 |
| Solution to Doom | 30 | Neutral | Theldurin the Lost, Badlands /way 51 76 |
| Agmond's Fate | 33 | Alliance | Requires the chain starting with Ironband Wants You! |
| Reclaimed Treasures | 33 | Alliance | Krom Stoutarm, Ironforge /way 74 9 |
| Reclaimed Treasures | 33 | Horde | Patrick Garrett, Undercity /way 62 48 |
| The Lost Dwarves | 35 | Alliance | Prospector Stormpike, Ironforge /way 75 12 |
| The Hidden Chamber | 35 | Alliance | Requires The Lost Dwarves |
| The Lost Tablets of Will | 30 | Alliance | Long prerequisite chain beginning with A Sign of Hope |
| Uldaman Reagent Run | 36 | Horde | Jarkal Mossmeld, Kargath; complete Badlands Reagent Run |
| Uldaman Reagent Run | 38 | Alliance | Ghak Healtouch, Thelsamar; complete Badlands Reagent Run |
| The Shattered Necklace / Necklace Recovery | 37 | Quest chain | Begins from Shattered Necklace drops near Uldaman and continues into faction-specific recovery steps |
| Power in Uldaman | 35 | Mage | Requires the Return to the Marsh class chain |
| The Platinum Discs | 40 | Neutral | Starts inside Uldaman after Archaedas |
At the current level-30 cap, do not delay beta progression trying to assemble a quest package that requires level 33–40. The full Uldaman quest-loaded run becomes relevant only after the cap increases or at launch.
What About the Other New WoW Forever Dungeons?
Forever launches with nine new dungeons, but only Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron and Excavation Site: Wetlands are currently open among those nine new instances. Publishing full quest tables for the remaining new dungeons would require guessing from incomplete database records, so their quest sections should be added only when Blizzard makes them testable.
| Dungeon | Announced range | Quest status |
|---|---|---|
| Hall of Thanes | 13–18 | Verified in beta |
| Ruins of Lordaeron | 15–20 | Verified in beta |
| Excavation Site: Wetlands | 26–31 in the October 1 beta build | Dungeon live in beta; quest list still being verified |
| City of Dalaran | 28–33 | Not enabled in the current public beta build |
| The Drowned City | 35–40 | Not currently available in public beta |
| Krol'dok Stronghold | 40–45 | Not currently available in public beta |
| Alcaz Prison | 48–53 | Not currently available in public beta |
| Blackmaw Hold | 55–60 | Not currently available in public beta |
| Shaper's Terrace | 58–60 | Not currently available in public beta |
This page should be expanded as each new dungeon opens rather than filling the missing rows with unverified placeholders.
What Is the Best Level to Run Each Dungeon?
The quest's minimum level is not always the best level for a smooth full clear. A practical first run usually happens closer to the middle of the dungeon's effective range, especially when you want to complete every boss objective in one attempt.
| Dungeon | Good first-run level | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Ragefire Chasm | 13–14 | Enough levels for the main Horde package without trivializing the dungeon. |
| Hall of Thanes | 14–16 | The dungeon is designed for the 13–18 bracket even though several quests can be picked up earlier. |
| Ruins of Lordaeron | 17–19 | Good compromise between quest access and reliable boss clears. |
| Wailing Caverns | 18–20 | Enough levels for the major quest package and the full dungeon route. |
| The Deadmines | 18–20 | Works well with the Defias chains and level-20 Paladin objectives. |
| Shadowfang Keep | 21–23 | More reliable against Arugal while keeping quest XP relevant. |
| The Stockade | 24–26 | Most normal quests are available and the run is short. |
| Blackfathom Deeps | 23–25 | Allows the Horde follow-up package and most Alliance objectives. |
| Gnomeregan | 29–30 in current beta | The beta cap prevents a normal higher-level run, so expect the instance to feel harder. |
| Razorfen Kraul | 29–30 in current beta | Several major quests become available around 28–30. |
| Scarlet Monastery Graveyard | 30 | Fits the current cap; later wings become more relevant after cap increases. |
| Excavation Site | 26–30 in current beta | Blizzard lists the dungeon as 26–31, while the current beta cap is 30. |
Alliance players can combine these instances with the Alliance Leveling Guide, while Horde players can use the Horde Leveling Guide to avoid unnecessary cross-continent travel.
Which Dungeon Quests Need Keys, Items or Prerequisites?
The easiest quests to miss are not the ones with difficult objectives; they are the ones that cannot be picked up when your group is already standing at the portal.
- Hidden Enemies: complete the preceding Thrall steps before Ragefire Chasm.
- Old Ironforge Incursion: prepare its map-related prerequisite before Hall of Thanes.
- Leaders of the Fang: requires earlier Horde progression before Wailing Caverns.
- Destruction in Deadmines: progress Alba Fairmoon's Toxic Soil storyline before the dungeon step becomes available.
- The Defias Brotherhood: finish the Westfall chain before the Deadmines boss run.
- The Unsent Letter: keep VanCleef's item because it leads into The Stockade Riots.
- Amongst the Ruins: connects to the Baron Aquanis summon chain in Blackfathom Deeps.
- Chief Engineer Scooty: Horde must progress the Gnomeregan access chain.
- Going, Going, Guano!: leads into Hearts of Zeal in Scarlet Monastery.
- An Unholy Alliance: begins in Razorfen Kraul and continues toward Razorfen Downs.
- Scarlet Key: normally opens the locked Scarlet Monastery wings; Lockpicking 175 or another valid lock-opening method can also work.
- Uldaman chains: several important quests require multiple outdoor prerequisite steps before a full quest-loaded run.
For long prerequisite chains, preparing before group formation is considerably more efficient than making four other players wait while one character travels between zones.
Can Dungeon Quests Be Shared?
Shareability depends on the quest. Normal NPC-start quests may support sharing, while quests that begin from dropped items, interactable objects, escort NPCs or class-specific chains often have their own restrictions.
Forever beta updates have already changed quest-item behavior, including fixes for quests that incorrectly allowed sharing when an item was granted on start and quests that begin from items. Because of that ongoing tuning, use the live quest-log Share Quest option as the final authority rather than assuming that a Classic-era quest remains shareable in Forever.
The safest group rule is simple: every player should personally collect important prerequisite quests before travel. Sharing should be a backup, not the group's entire preparation plan.
How to Prepare a Full Dungeon Quest Run
A quest-loaded run should minimize travel and avoid discovering halfway through the dungeon that the party lacks a required objective.
- Choose the dungeon and verify your character level.
- Check faction-specific quests first.
- Complete prerequisite chains before forming the group.
- Collect class quests that use the same dungeon.
- Identify item-start or inside-dungeon quests so they are not missed during the clear.
- Check whether the dungeon requires a key or other access item.
- Leave enough quest-log space for quests that begin inside the instance.
- Complete the full route once before deciding whether repeating the dungeon for loot is worthwhile.
This is especially important in Ruins of Lordaeron, Gnomeregan, Scarlet Monastery and Uldaman, where the complete preparation can span several zones or quest chains.
Dungeon Quest Mistakes to Avoid
Most wasted dungeon runs happen before the group enters the instance.
- Entering before collecting prerequisites: many dungeon quests cannot simply be shared at the portal.
- Using the minimum quest level as the recommended clear level: those are different numbers, especially in new Forever dungeons.
- Ignoring item-start quests: VanCleef's letter, dropped notes and similar items can unlock later progression.
- Deleting quest items after a dungeon: some of them begin follow-up chains in another instance.
- Forgetting class quests: Paladin, Warlock and Mage progression intersects with several dungeons.
- Assuming Classic quest behavior is unchanged: Forever is actively adjusting quest XP, rewards, sharing and dungeon progression.
- Using unreleased new-dungeon data as final: City of Dalaran and the higher-level Forever instances still need public beta verification.
- Overfilling the quest log: leave room for quests and item starts found inside the dungeon.
WoW Forever Dungeon Quest FAQ
These answers cover common preparation questions that do not need separate route sections.
Did Blizzard cut all dungeon quest XP by 50%?
No. The October 1 development notes say dungeon quests now give 50% less extra experience above normal quest values. The normal base quest value itself was not described as being cut in half.
Is City of Dalaran available for dungeon quests yet?
No. City of Dalaran is not among the dungeons enabled in the October 1 public beta build, so its dungeon quest package is not yet verified.
Should I run a dungeon if I missed half the quests?
You can, but the first run usually has more value when the group has prepared the full available quest package. If the missing quests require only a short prerequisite chain, completing them first is generally more efficient.
Are higher-level Classic dungeon quests already final for Forever?
No. Existing Classic quest data is useful for preparation, but Forever can change rewards, XP, sharing, class interactions and prerequisites. High-level sections should be rechecked when the beta cap reaches them.
Conclusion
Dungeon quests are most efficient when treated as preparation rather than something to discover after entering the instance. Stack every faction and class objective you can, complete prerequisite chains before forming the group, leave space for item-start quests, and aim for one complete quest-loaded run. As the Forever beta moves beyond level 30, the remaining new dungeons and high-level Classic quest packages should be added only after their current versions are testable.
