WoW Forever Enhancement Shaman Guide: Talents, Builds, Rotation and Weapons

WoW Forever Enhancement Shaman Guide: Talents, Builds, Rotation and Weapons

WoW Forever Enhancement Shaman combines powerful weapon attacks, Stormstrike, Shocks and totems, with Mana determining how aggressively you can fight. The current beta is limited to level 30: Stormstrike and Windfury Weapon are available, while a complete Maelstrom Weapon build and Rage of the Farseer belong to later progression. This guide covers level-30 talent builds, weapons, imbues, melee priorities, totems, Mana management, and a complete equipment checklist for every slot.

Short answer: Use a strong two-handed weapon, invest in Enhancement to unlock Stormstrike and Improved Stormstrike, and train Windfury Weapon at level 30. Keep auto-attacks active and conserve Mana during ordinary solo pulls. Choose Shocks, Fire Nova and support totems according to the encounter rather than casting everything on cooldown. For gear, prioritize a weapon upgrade and a useful balance of Strength, Agility, Intellect and recovery.

How Enhancement Shaman Plays in WoW Forever

Enhancement deals sustained damage through melee swings while using instant spells for additional damage, interrupts and utility. Its performance depends on remaining within weapon range, maintaining an appropriate imbue and spending Mana where it makes a meaningful difference.

Stormstrike gives Enhancement a dedicated melee attack earlier than in Classic Era. Its follow-up effect strengthens a specific spell, while Improved Stormstrike helps restore some Mana regeneration during casting. However, the specialization does not have unlimited resources. Stormstrike, repeated Shocks, Fire Nova, healing and replacing totems can still exhaust your Mana pool quickly. Current level-30 beta testing particularly highlights the high Mana cost of frequent Stormstrike use.

The present build differs from later Enhancement designs. Shaman dual wielding is unavailable in Forever, Maelstrom Weapon enhances Lightning Bolt rather than adding a new resource bar, and Rage of the Farseer is a personal attack-speed cooldown. For class-wide abilities and the other specializations, see the WoW Forever Shaman guide.

Enhancement Shaman Weapons: Two-Handers and Shields

Shamans can use two-handed axes, two-handed maces and staves. Their one-handed options include axes, maces, daggers and fist weapons, with a shield available in the off-hand. Swords and polearms are not part of the Shaman's normal weapon proficiencies. Enhancement does not currently support equipping two one-handed weapons at once.

Two-Handed Axes and Maces no longer requires a talent investment in Forever. Learn any missing weapon proficiency from a Weapon Master and develop the corresponding weapon skill before making comparisons. Even a strong newly equipped weapon can miss frequently if its skill is far below the appropriate level.

Choosing a Weapon for Stormstrike and Windfury

For melee damage, compare weapon DPS first, followed by average damage per swing, attack speed, useful attributes and accessibility. A slow two-handed weapon is a practical choice for Stormstrike and Windfury because it delivers large individual weapon hits. However, speed alone does not make a weapon with considerably worse DPS an upgrade.

A one-handed weapon and shield are useful when survival is more important than maximum melee damage, particularly against dangerous solo enemies. This option also provides a defensive backup for dungeon situations, but a damage-oriented Enhancement allocation is not automatically a dedicated tank build.

Level-30 Weapon Upgrades Worth Checking

Corpsemaker is a two-handed axe dropped by Overlord Ramtusk in Razorfen Kraul. Its Forever record requires level 29 and provides 28.95 weapon DPS, 3.80 speed, +15 Strength and +8 Stamina. It is a strong practical weapon target before completing the more demanding Shaman class weapon quest.

Rage of the Storm is a new two-handed mace from The Tempest's Weapons quest chain. It provides 35.56 weapon DPS, 3.60 speed, +15 Stamina, +16 Intellect and 10% increased Stormstrike damage. The quest is available from level 30, despite its higher recommended quest level, and requires difficult enemies and an elite encounter. Plan for group assistance rather than assuming the entire chain can be completed easily at the beta cap.

These weapons are concrete upgrade targets rather than proof of a universal best-in-slot ranking. An intermediate weapon such as Arced War Axe from Shadowfang Keep can remain useful before Corpsemaker, while new dungeon and quest options may be worth comparing against your current weapon.

Enhancement Weapon Imbues: Windfury, Rockbiter and Flametongue

Keep the appropriate Shaman imbue active on your weapon. All four weapon imbues last 60 minutes in Forever and can coexist with temporary weapon enhancements such as Sharpening Stones, Weightstones and Wizard Oil. This reduces preparation between pulls and allows you to use an additional enhancement without replacing the Shaman imbue.

Windfury grants a chance for additional weapon attacks, Rockbiter provides reliable melee Attack Power while generating additional threat, Flametongue adds Fire damage and Frostbrand offers a chance to slow the enemy. Their value changes with weapon speed, enemy type and the role you are performing.

Weapon imbue choices during Enhancement progression
ImbuePractical useImportant limitation
Windfury WeaponUnlocked at level 30; powerful burst option with a slow two-handed weapon.Sudden damage can pull threat. It does not stack with your personal benefit from Windfury Totem.
Rockbiter WeaponReliable leveling damage before Windfury and useful while deliberately holding an enemy.Generates additional threat. Spirit Weapons further increases threat while Rockbiter is active.
Flametongue WeaponUseful with a faster one-handed weapon or when avoiding Rockbiter's threat.Does not stack with your personal Flametongue Totem effect; damage depends partly on Fire resistance.
Frostbrand WeaponSituational option for slowing enemies during movement-heavy combat. The slow is chance-based. Frost Shock is more dependable for immediate control.

Windfury is useful in dungeons but should not be treated as a mandatory choice on every pull. Recent level-30 beta testing has highlighted its threat risk in groups. Let the tank establish threat, and consider Flametongue when high Windfury burst repeatedly pulls enemies away from the tank. For solo questing with a strong two-hander, Windfury remains an effective default.

Elemental Weapons improves the imbues. At 3/3, its current talent description increases Rockbiter's Attack Power bonus by 20%, Windfury's effect by 40%, and Flametongue and Frostbrand damage by 15%. Windfury's 40% improvement is not a 40-percentage-point increase to the chance of triggering an additional attack.

Enhancement Shaman Talent Builds at Level 30

A level-30 character normally has 21 talent points. The standard allocation invests them in Enhancement and reaches Stormstrike and Improved Stormstrike while retaining the early mobility, critical strike and weapon bonuses. It is designed for practical questing and dungeon damage rather than continuous high-cost spellcasting.

With maximum Talented Legacy progression, the character receives class talent points beginning at level 5 instead of 10, making 26 points available at level 30. This changes when deeper talents become accessible without increasing the eventual 51-point ceiling. Use the allocation matching your actual number of available points.

Talent Order Without Legacy Points

Invest in Thundering Strikes at levels 10–14, then take Mental Dexterity 3/3 and Improved Ghost Wolf 2/2 at levels 15–19. Ghost Wolf itself is trained at level 20. Investing in its talent earlier prepares the instant version but does not grant the spell ahead of its training level.

Take Shamanistic Focus at 20, Elemental Weapons at levels 21–23 and Ancestral Knowledge 1/5 at 24. This brings your early investment to 15 points and opens Stormstrike at level 25. Add four ranks of Flurry at 26–29 and Improved Stormstrike 1/2 at level 30. Mental Dexterity also satisfies Flurry's prerequisite.

Using the Five Extra Points from Talented

With five additional points, complete Improved Stormstrike 2/2, add Spirit Weapons 1/1, finish Flurry 5/5 and take Mental Quickness 2/2. This provides all 26 points with improved regeneration, better threat control and additional value from Intellect.

Improved Stormstrike has a 50% activation chance at rank 1 and 100% at rank 2. When activated by Stormstrike, it permits 50% of normal Mana regeneration during casting for 15 seconds. Its separate cooldown-reset effect is triggered by dodging or parrying. The 100% full-rank chance applies to those qualifying defensive events, not to every attack aimed at you.

Dungeon Threat and Solo Build Adjustments

At 21 points, a dungeon-focused alternative replaces Improved Stormstrike 1/2 with Spirit Weapons 1/1, leaving the rest unchanged. Spirit Weapons grants parry and reduces attack-generated threat by 30% without Rockbiter, while increasing all threat by 30% with Rockbiter equipped. You sacrifice Improved Stormstrike's regeneration, making this a threat-management option rather than an automatic damage upgrade.

For solo play, Improved Lightning Shield, Earth's Grasp and Anticipation can provide situational utility. Changing travel talents affects convenience, while replacing defensive talents affects survival. Preserve the required points in earlier talent rows before taking Stormstrike and deeper talents, and retain Mental Dexterity 3/3 before Flurry. Early investment in Restoration can help sustain, but postpones the core Enhancement milestones.

Enhancement Shaman Rotation and Stormstrike Priorities

Stormstrike instantly deals normal weapon damage and has an eight-second cooldown. It increases the damage of your next Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning or Earth Shock against the same target by 20% for 12 seconds. Unlike its old Classic version, the bonus does not apply to the next two sources of Nature damage from any attacker.

At the current cap, Earth Shock is usually the practical instant follow-up. Chain Lightning is trained at level 32 and therefore unavailable in the level-30 beta. Lightning Shield, Flame Shock and Frost Shock do not consume Stormstrike's specific damage bonus.

Single-Target Priority and Solo Questing

Before engaging, check your weapon imbue, health and reserve Mana for healing. Lightning Shield provides damage when you are attacked, but replacing its charges unnecessarily can increase downtime.

  1. Open with Lightning Bolt when appropriate: Pull from range, then maintain automatic melee attacks once the target reaches you.
  2. Use Stormstrike selectively: Its weapon attack, follow-up spell bonus and possible regeneration should justify the Mana expenditure. Respond to a reset only when another cast is worthwhile.
  3. Use Earth Shock: Consume a useful Stormstrike bonus when you need damage, or save the shared Shock cooldown for an important interrupt.
  4. Apply Flame Shock: Use it against targets that survive long enough for its damage-over-time component.
  5. Finish with auto-attacks when practical: Avoid spending another expensive spell against an enemy that will die to the next weapon swing.

Earth Shock, Flame Shock and Frost Shock share a cooldown. Spending it on damage may prevent Earth Shock from interrupting a dangerous spell or Frost Shock from slowing a fleeing opponent. Keep the appropriate Shock available when its utility matters more than additional damage.

Against dangerous targets or short dungeon fights, spend Mana more aggressively when you have time to recover afterward. During long solo questing sessions, limit unnecessary casts and use your weapon for sustained damage. Hard-casting Lightning Bolt while already fighting in melee is not a mandatory filler before Maelstrom Weapon is fully developed.

Dungeon Packs, Fire Nova and Threat

Fire Nova is a castable spell that erupts around your active Fire Totem. It replaces Fire Nova Totem and can be used repeatedly while a Fire Totem remains active. Enemies need to be near the totem, not near the Shaman.

Let the tank gather enemies before placing your Fire Totem close to the intended pack. Searing Totem contributes sustained single-target damage and can support Fire Nova, while Magma Totem provides additional area damage at the cost of more Mana and a shorter duration. You do not specifically need Magma Totem to cast Fire Nova.

Continue weapon attacks and Stormstrike on the priority enemy. Save Earth Shock for important interrupts, and avoid Fire Nova or Magma Totem near crowd-controlled enemies whose control breaks from damage. High Mana expenditure and accidental aggro are the main limitations of repeatedly using these abilities in dungeons.

PvP and Dangerous Solo Enemies

In PvP, sustained contact and timely utility matter more than repeating a damage sequence. Use Frost Shock and Earthbind Totem to manage distance, Earth Shock against interruptible spells and Purge to remove valuable enemy Magic buffs when the Mana trade is worthwhile.

Tremor Totem helps against relevant Fear, Charm and Sleep effects, while Grounding Totem absorbs an eligible harmful spell. Grounding does not redirect area spells, and Tremor works through periodic pulses rather than continuous immunity. Create distance before healing when necessary; chasing another Stormstrike at low health can leave you unable to recover.

Totems, Class Quests and Practical Loadouts

Shaman elements are unlocked through class quests: Earth at level 4, Fire at level 10, Water at level 20 and Air at level 30. Finish each quest chain and keep the required elemental totem items. Merely reaching the level at which an elemental spell is trained does not replace the relevant class quest.

You may keep one active totem of each element. Casting a second Earth Totem replaces your first Earth Totem, meaning that changing Strength of Earth to Tremor or Earthbind removes the previous Strength buff. Persistent support totems generally last five minutes in Forever, while short-duration combat totems retain their own timers.

Useful totem choices at the level-30 beta cap
ElementRoutine choiceWhen to change it
EarthStrength of Earth for melee damage support.Stoneskin against incoming melee damage, Tremor against relevant control, Earthbind for slowing or Stoneclaw to distract enemies.
FireFlametongue for group weapon support or Searing for single-target damage.Magma for sustained area damage, or a resistance totem when appropriate.
WaterMana Spring for prolonged Mana recovery once trained at level 26.Healing Stream, Poison Cleansing or an available resistance totem according to the encounter.
AirGrounding to intercept eligible harmful spells. The Air Totem unlocks at 30, but Windfury Totem is not trained until 32.

Placement and Party Buff Interactions

Place support totems near the area where the party expects to fight. Fire Nova requires a Fire Totem close to the actual enemy group, whereas support totems such as Mana Spring have a larger effective range. A location that works for the party's buffs may therefore be too distant for area damage.

Flametongue Totem can support a Shaman using Windfury Weapon, but it does not grant an additional personal Flametongue effect to a weapon already imbued with Flametongue Weapon. At higher levels, Windfury Totem does not stack with personal Windfury Weapon or with the incompatible weapon-effect totems. Coordinate party effects rather than repeatedly casting totems that overwrite one another.

Call Spells, Projection and Recall

Call of the Elements is learned at level 20 and casts a prepared set of up to four totems after a three-second cast. It still consumes the Mana needed for those totems. Use a preset before a planned encounter; when replacing only one totem in combat, casting it directly can be more efficient.

The current beta spell records list Call of the Ancestors at level 30 and Call of the Spirits at level 40. Some published beta overviews reverse the names of these later presets, so verify the names displayed in your current spellbook. Each spell saves another configuration; it does not allow extra simultaneous totems of the same element.

Totemic Projection becomes available at level 22 and moves your active totems to a selected location within 30 yards. It has a one-minute cooldown and costs 25% of base Mana. Recasting one inexpensive totem may be preferable to moving an entire set when most of its duration has expired.

Totemic Recall is learned at 20. It removes active totems and refunds 25% of their casting costs. Use it before leaving the area rather than allowing totems to expire. The October 1 notes report that the missing Mana refund bug was corrected.

Enhancement Mana Management and Recovery

Enhancement uses the same Mana pool for weapon-based abilities, Shocks, healing, Purge and totems. Efficient combat requires holding enough Mana for the next important action rather than draining your entire pool to kill an ordinary enemy marginally faster.

Shamanistic Focus reduces the cost of Shocks and Lightning Shield but does not provide a general discount to Stormstrike, Fire Nova or healing. Even relatively cheap Shocks become part of a costly rotation when combined with repeated totem placement and direct damage spells.

Spirit, Improved Stormstrike and the Five-Second Rule

Normal Spirit-based Mana regeneration is restricted for five seconds after spending Mana. Finishing an enemy with auto-attacks instead of spells can create an opportunity for regeneration without losing melee damage. Repeated unnecessary spellcasts keep restarting that delay.

Improved Stormstrike allows 50% of normal regeneration during casting for 15 seconds when its effect activates. Its value depends on your current regeneration and the uptime of the effect. At 1/2, only half of Stormstrike casts activate it; full reliability requires 2/2. This effect is not an instant, fixed-value Mana restoration.

Mana Spring Totem provides periodic regeneration while you remain in range. Use it for repeated nearby pulls rather than spending its setup cost on every short enemy encounter. Bring suitable drinking water and Mana potions, because the current Enhancement build still needs downtime after sustained expensive casting.

What to Cut When Mana Runs Low

Reduce optional Fire Nova casts, repeated Magma Totem placement and low-value Shock applications before sacrificing interrupts, healing or essential defensive utility. Finish weak enemies with auto-attacks where possible and restore health or Mana before a dangerous next pull.

Healing Wave offers slower healing, while Lesser Healing Wave responds faster when you or an ally need immediate recovery. Both draw from your damage Mana pool. If enemies interrupt your attempts to heal through incoming attacks, slow them and create distance before casting again.

Do not rely on taking unnecessary damage to trigger Stormstrike resets from dodging or parrying. In dungeon DPS play, a tank should normally receive the enemy's attacks. Also evaluate whether an entire Call preset is necessary: placing four totems for a single weak enemy can spend more Mana than the encounter warrants.

Water Shield and Mana Tide are Restoration talents, not default buttons available to these pure-Enhancement builds. Reaching Water Shield requires meaningful Restoration investment, which competes with early Stormstrike access at the level-30 cap. A hybrid allocation must be planned separately.

Enhancement Gear, Stats and Preparation

Start every equipment comparison with weapon damage. Auto-attacks and Stormstrike directly benefit from the weapon you use. Armor and jewelry should then support both damage and resource management; an item providing modestly less burst but substantially better Mana sustain can be useful during long leveling sessions.

Strength increases melee Attack Power, and Agility helps melee critical strike chance and Flurry uptime. Thundering Strikes boosts critical chance for both weapon attacks and spells, but Flurry is specifically activated by melee critical strikes. Spell critical bonuses alone are not equivalent to extra Flurry triggers.

Intellect increases Mana and, with Mental Dexterity 3/3, adds Attack Power equal to 100% of Intellect. With Mental Quickness 2/2, it also improves spell damage and healing. Spirit contributes Mana regeneration, particularly with Improved Stormstrike, and Stamina provides survivability. Spell damage bonuses are useful for Shocks and other spells, but should not come at the expense of a severe weapon-DPS downgrade without a clear reason.

There is no verified universal stat-weight formula or final level-60 hit cap for the current level-30 beta. Compare upgrades against the actual enemy levels and encounter types you are playing. Do not import dual-wield hit requirements or stat priorities from later expansions into Forever Enhancement.

Enhancement Shaman Level-30 Gear for Every Slot

The following table covers all relevant equipment slots, including alternative two-handed and one-handed weapon setups, a shield and the Shaman-specific Relic slot. It prioritizes practical items with documented Forever records. This is not a definitive simulated best-in-slot ranking: rare drops, PvP reputation, profession-bound crafts and challenging quest chains all affect accessibility.

Relic / TotemPolished Driftwood IconAllows 8% of Mana regeneration to continue during casting; requires level 20.Forever Enchanting 130 craft. Binds on pickup, so obtain it through the required crafting route rather than assuming it is freely tradeable.

Equipment priorities: Start with a stronger two-handed weapon or a clearly justified shield setup, then improve leather armor and jewelry. A hybrid chest or belt with Strength and Intellect can be especially helpful because Mental Dexterity converts Intellect into Attack Power. Ferine Leggings are valuable for the same reason: their current Forever version provides Intellect and Attack Power instead of the original Classic Strength and Agility combination.

Do not assume every piece is equally easy to obtain. The class weapon chain is difficult at the present cap, several Scarlet Monastery items require rare spawns, and new bind-on-pickup crafts may require your own profession. If the listed piece is unavailable, use an appropriate quest reward, dungeon drop or affordable green item. The Relic slot deserves attention because its regeneration bonus is useful throughout the current Mana-intensive Enhancement gameplay.

Professions and Useful Preparation

Leatherworking with Skinning provides useful leather armor crafts, while Alchemy supplies potions and consumables. Enchanting offers gear improvements and Shaman relic options such as Polished Driftwood Icon. Profession-specific items that bind on pickup should be evaluated before committing to a profession solely for a single level-30 upgrade.

Carry food, drinking water, Mana potions and reagents required by the utility spells you expect to use. Bind Earth Shock, Purge, healing and emergency totems so they can be activated independently of your damage sequence. A rigid macro that spends your remaining Mana before an interrupt or heal can cause avoidable deaths.

Enhancement Progression After Level 30

The following talent steps use current client records to describe a possible path beyond the beta cap. They are not a tested level-60 raid build or a definitive launch rotation.

From the standard build, spend levels 31–35 completing Improved Stormstrike, adding Spirit Weapons, finishing Flurry and taking Mental Quickness 2/2. This reaches the same 26-point allocation shown in the earlier table. The order may be adjusted for dungeon threat or Mana problems, but the core Stormstrike investment should remain intact.

Maelstrom Weapon becomes available after 25 points have been invested in Enhancement. Damaging melee attacks can generate charges. At 5/5, each charge reduces the casting time and Mana cost of your next Lightning Bolt by 20%, stacking up to five times for 30 seconds. Five charges at full talent rank allow an instant Lightning Bolt with no Mana cost. At 1/5, each charge reduces those values by only 4%, making an incomplete investment much less useful.

From the 26-point build, five additional levels can complete Maelstrom Weapon at levels 36–40. Its effect applies specifically to Lightning Bolt, not Chain Lightning, healing spells or Lava Burst. A fully stacked Lightning Bolt after Stormstrike becomes a potential later melee-and-spell combination that does not require stopping for a normal cast.

Rage of the Farseer requires 30 previous Enhancement points and the Mental Quickness prerequisite. It provides 30% attack speed for 25 seconds with a three-minute cooldown. You can reach it at level 40 by taking it before the final Maelstrom Weapon rank or at 41 after completing Maelstrom in the route above. It affects the Shaman rather than the party and no longer increases spellcasting speed.

Chain Lightning and Windfury Totem are trained at level 32, independently of the number of talent points earned through Legacy. Higher-level Elemental or Restoration investments may add damage, utility or sustain once the Enhancement core is established. Reassess those choices when further progression becomes playable. The WoW Forever talents guide covers the broader system and talent resets.

Enhancement Shaman FAQ

These answers cover practical restrictions and choices that affect Enhancement leveling outside the basic damage rotation.

Can an Enhancement Shaman heal a leveling dungeon?
Yes, Shamans retain their healing spells, so emergency and supportive healing are available. Taking the primary healer role requires suitable gear, Mana management and appropriate group coordination. A pure-Enhancement build does not provide the deeper Restoration tools.

Why can I not equip Mail armor at level 30?
Shamans gain Mail armor proficiency at level 40. At the current cap, use suitable Leather or Cloth equipment based on its actual benefits.

Can I use two weapons with Windfury at level 30?
No. Dual wielding is not supported for Shamans in Forever. Equip a two-handed weapon or a one-handed weapon with a shield.

Does the Shaman have a usable Relic slot at level 30?
Yes. New Forever relics include Polished Driftwood Icon, which requires level 20 and allows some Mana regeneration during casting. Its bind-on-pickup crafting requirement matters when planning to obtain it.

Can I keep separate Enhancement and Restoration specializations at the beta cap?
No. Dual Specialization becomes available at level 40, above the current beta cap. To change a level-30 allocation, reset talents through the class trainer instead.

Conclusion

Enhancement on level 30 rewards strong weapon upgrades, careful Mana management and the appropriate use of Stormstrike, Shocks and totems. Begin with the talent build matching your available points, maintain your weapon imbue and avoid spending Mana on unnecessary spells during routine pulls. Build equipment across every slot, including the Shaman relic, but prioritize practical upgrades over rare items with demanding acquisition requirements. The full Maelstrom Weapon rotation and Rage of the Farseer remain goals for later progression, not the current beta.
