WoW Forever New Zones: Levels, Quests and Reworked Areas

World of Warcraft: Forever launches on November 4, 2026, expanding original Azeroth with Zephras Isle, The Riverglades, Shen'dralas and Mount Hyjal. These regions add new adventures to the journey from level 1 to 60, alongside more than 1,000 new quests woven throughout the wider world. This guide covers the announced zone levels, quest counts, story connections and changes to familiar areas that matter when choosing where to explore.

Last updated: 18.09.2026. Rechecked Blizzard's official announcements after the Forever beta went live on September 17. Zephras Isle remains a level 1-12 starting experience, The Riverglades covers much of the mid-30s to mid-40s with more than 150 quests, Shen'dralas still has no published exact level bracket, and Mount Hyjal is positioned as endgame content around level 60.

Will the new zones scale to your level? No; Forever does not use level scaling.

All Four Announced Regions in WoW Forever

Confirmed by Blizzard: the Forever What's Next panel recap identifies all four regions and supplies the published Zephras Isle and Riverglades brackets. Quest totals for the other three areas are not specified there. The table keeps those gaps visible instead of treating a familiar place name as proof that its levels match another version of WoW.

ZonePublished level rangeQuest countWhat is new?
Zephras Isle1-12Not specified in the reviewed announcementsA Skyborne starting experience with an elemental setting and Skywall-inspired architecture
The RivergladesApproximately 35-45More than 150A substantial frontier questing region with communities, trade routes and local conflicts

Mount HyjalEndgame / around level 60; full outdoor quest-level spread not publishedNot specified in the reviewed announcementsExploration and recovery after Archimonde's defeat, including Darkwhisper Gorge

Developer interview: Kris Zierhut places Shen'dralas in the middle of the leveling journey and Hyjal near its end in The Sun's BlizzCon interview. He also says the XP curve is unchanged: the extra regions provide alternative paths rather than requiring every character to complete every zone.

The advertised 1,000-plus new quests apply to Forever as a whole. That figure cannot be divided between these four regions to estimate their individual sizes. For the systems and release structure surrounding the world additions, see the WoW Forever guide.

Zephras Isle: A New Starting Zone for Levels 1-12

Zephras Isle introduces the Skyborne through their own homeland. Its level 1-12 bracket makes it the earliest of the new regions and gives the race a dedicated opening chapter. Blizzard has not supplied a total quest count in the announcements reviewed for this guide. At launch, access to the Skyborne race and the Zephras Isle starting experience is included with eligible optional Forever upgrade packs.

What Makes the Starting Experience Different?

The island combines the visual language of Classic Warcraft with an elemental setting and architecture inspired by Skywall. Its story hook is the Skyborne themselves: a people with shared roots whose choices lead them toward different futures. That makes the opening zone a useful introduction to the race's identity before the character joins the wider adventure.

Confirmed by Blizzard: Skyborne players choose Horde or Alliance during character creation. The choice is already made when the starting experience begins; it is not a neutral opening followed by a later faction selection. Check the WoW Forever Skyborne race guide before creating a character if faction and class availability affect your plans.

How to Use the Level Range

Treat 1-12 as the intended scope of the opening adventure, not a guarantee that every character leaves with exactly the same experience total. Exploration, optional objectives and how thoroughly you follow the story can affect your progress. The Zephras Isle leveling guide covers the starting area in more detail.

The Riverglades: More Than 150 Quests Around Levels 35-45

The Riverglades has the clearest published quest-volume figure among the four regions: more than 150 new quests across much of the mid-30s to mid-40s. Approximately 35-45 is therefore a useful planning bracket, while the individual quests still determine whether a particular section suits your character.

A Substantial Option for the Middle of the Journey

The zone's premise centres on a frontier where settlements, trade and older disputes meet. Rivers and grasslands provide the setting, but the people trying to make a living there give the region its story. It offers room for a sustained questing visit instead of functioning only as a short stop between familiar areas.

For route planning, the practical question is when to fit that visit into your existing journey. If you want to explore the new content, leave some flexibility around the mid-30s. A route already packed with older quest chains may leave little room for The Riverglades before parts of it become less rewarding for experience.

What the Quest Count Does and Does Not Tell You

A regional total does not establish how many quests one character can complete consecutively. Faction availability, prerequisites and group objectives can affect a personal route, and the announcement does not break down all 150-plus quests by those categories. It also does not establish a completion time or prove that this is the fastest leveling region.

The sensible approach is to follow connected quests, check objective levels and combine nearby tasks when possible. Judge efficiency from the route you can actually play rather than from the headline number alone. Players combining outdoor adventures with group content can use the WoW Forever dungeon levels and locations guide to plan suitable dungeon visits.

Shen'dralas: Shen'dralar History and Centaur Connections

Shen'dralas opens a previously hidden area between Mulgore and Desolace. Its announced story connects the Shen'dralar, Eldre'Thalas, Dire Maul and the centaur tribes of the surrounding region. A precise minimum-to-maximum level bracket and a complete quest total remain unpublished in the sources reviewed here.

How the Lore Connections Fit Together

The similar names are worth distinguishing before you arrive. Shen'dralas is the new region being explored; the Shen'dralar are the people named in its story connections. Eldre'Thalas and Dire Maul provide the wider historical context, while the centaur connection ties that history to conflicts in the surrounding landscape.

Those connections give the area two reasons to appeal to returning players. It can develop questions associated with a familiar dungeon and extend stories encountered outdoors. However, a connection to Dire Maul does not by itself establish a dungeon prerequisite, reputation requirement or mandatory quest chain. Those are separate gameplay details that still need confirmation.

Where It Fits into Your Plans

If you intend to explore the Desolace side of Kalimdor, keep Shen'dralas in mind as a possible continuation of that journey. Check the levels and prerequisites of the available quests before committing to a long detour. The region's location is confirmed, but this overview does not establish entrance coordinates, a complete travel route or faction-specific access conditions.

Mount Hyjal: Exploring the Aftermath of Archimonde's Defeat

Mount Hyjal's Forever story begins with the consequences of Archimonde's defeat and the work of restoring the land. Darkwhisper Gorge is part of the announced adventure. Current coverage positions Hyjal as endgame content around level 60, but the complete level spread of its outdoor quests and its total number of quests have not been published.

The Mountain as an Endgame Questing Destination

Hyjal's appeal comes from the chance to explore what follows a defining Warcraft event. The battle provides the background; recovery provides a reason to spend time in the landscape itself. That gives the mountain a role beyond being a landmark associated with a raid.

Players familiar with Hyjal from another version of WoW should check Forever-specific information before planning their visit. Shared names do not establish identical quests, travel requirements or progression. In particular, level ranges taken from other expansions should not be substituted for Forever-specific quest data that Blizzard has not yet published.

Mount Hyjal and Hyjal Summit Are Different Planning Questions

Confirmed by Blizzard: Hyjal Summit is a 20-player raid. Blizzard's roadmap says the new raids unlock on December 9, 2026. That describes the raid's group size and release schedule; it does not define the requirements or level of every outdoor quest on Mount Hyjal, nor does it mean that the entire zone should be treated as raid content.

Which Existing WoW Forever Zones Are Being Reworked?

Existing areas receive different kinds of changes, so a useful overview needs to distinguish added adventures from environmental improvements. The examples below come from Blizzard's public announcements and developer interviews. They are not presented as an exhaustive inspection of every zone in the beta.

Azshara: Additional Quests

Developer-confirmed: Josh Greenfield specifically identifies additional Azshara quests in MMORPG.com's BlizzCon interview. That establishes a content change, although the interview does not provide a complete quest list or revised leveling route. Returning players have a reason to check available quests again instead of assuming their old route includes everything.

Wetlands: Lighting, Art and Additional Content

In the same interview, Greenfield highlights Wetlands' updated lighting and art, while other developer coverage also identifies the zone as receiving additional quest content. The visual improvements alone do not establish a replacement for the zone's existing campaign, so the exact quest-by-quest impact should still be checked separately.

Elwynn Forest, Darkshore and Ashenvale: Environmental Updates

Confirmed by Blizzard: the panel recap names flowing river effects in Elwynn Forest, mist over Darkshore's water and moonlight through Ashenvale's trees as examples of rendering improvements. These changes affect the atmosphere of familiar places. They should not be counted as evidence that every named area has a completely new quest campaign.

For players planning a return, the distinction is useful: a visual update can make an old journey feel different, while added quests can change where you spend your leveling time. Assess each region on the changes actually documented for it.

Planning a Leveling Route Around the New Zones

The available information supports a flexible route, but not yet a fully verified quest-by-quest itinerary through all four areas. Start with the published brackets, account for travel and allow your current quests to determine when moving makes sense. Forever's lack of level scaling makes that judgment relevant throughout the journey.

  • Choose your opening experience: an eligible Skyborne character begins with the dedicated Zephras Isle adventure.
  • Leave room around levels 35-45: consider The Riverglades when deciding which middle-level quest chains to follow.
  • Check Shen'dralas locally: verify available quest levels and access before committing to the regional detour.
  • Treat Hyjal as endgame content: plan outdoor progression around level 60 separately from the Hyjal Summit raid schedule.
  • Reassess familiar destinations: additional quests can make an older route worth revisiting.

If you are considering help with progression, the WoW Forever leveling 1-60 service page is the relevant place to check availability and scope. Discuss any zones or story chapters you want to complete yourself before arranging assistance, so the plan fits how you want to experience the new world.

WoW Forever New Zones FAQ

These answers cover the main zone names, level ranges and world changes players need when comparing the new destinations.

What Are the New Zones in WoW Forever?

Blizzard highlights Zephras Isle, The Riverglades, Shen'dralas and Mount Hyjal among Forever's new and reimagined regions. They serve different parts of the adventure, beginning with the Skyborne starting experience and extending into level-60 endgame content.

What Level Is The Riverglades?

The announced questing range covers much of the mid-30s to mid-40s, commonly expressed as approximately 35-45. This is a regional planning range, not a published minimum entry requirement.

How Many Quests Are in The Riverglades?

Blizzard's What's Next panel recap confirms more than 150 new quests. It does not provide a full breakdown of how many are available to a single character.

Where Is Shen'dralas in WoW Forever?

Shen'dralas is between Mulgore and Desolace. Its announced story connections include the Shen'dralar, Eldre'Thalas, Dire Maul and nearby centaur tribes.

Is Mount Hyjal a Zone or a Raid?

Mount Hyjal is an explorable endgame region in Forever. Hyjal Summit is the separately identified 20-player raid; its schedule and raid requirements should not be used as the requirements for every outdoor activity in the zone.

Are Old Zones Changing in WoW Forever?

Yes. Confirmed examples include additional quest content in zones such as Azshara and Wetlands, plus visual improvements across areas including Wetlands, Elwynn Forest, Darkshore and Ashenvale. The extent and type of change vary by region.

Conclusion

Forever's expanded world is designed to give players more choices throughout the level 1-60 journey. For a first character, the practical approach is to leave room for discovery: follow a region while its quests suit your level and goals, then move when another destination provides a better continuation. The four highlighted regions cover very different stages of progression, from the Skyborne opening on Zephras Isle to endgame adventures around Mount Hyjal.
