This update also incorporates Wowhead's September 10 Mythic+ healer ranking, current Venomous Abyss logs, and the completed Race to World First healer compositions.
Healer rankings are more composition-sensitive than DPS rankings. Throughput matters, but a poison dispel, Bloodlust, combat resurrection, raid buff, external defensive, movement cooldown, or reliable priority healing can decide whether a healer is ideal for a specific group. Use this list as a roster and main-selection guide, not as a reason to reject a skilled player one tier lower. Best Healers in Midnight Season 2: Quick Answers
Top current M+ option thanks to burst recovery, externals, immunity, combat resurrection, poison coverage, and strong priority healing.
Bloodlust, Skyfury, Wind Shear, Purge, Poison Cleansing Totem, Spirit Link, and excellent passive healing solve multiple group needs at once.
Exceptional burst throughput, Rewind, Time Spiral, Zephyr, and stackable raid utility keep Preservation at the top of the Venomous Abyss meta.

What Changed Since the September 5 Update?
The biggest change is not another Blizzard balance patch. It is that the live meta has had almost two additional weeks to settle. The previous version still reflected early-September expert lists and Week 3 assumptions. We now have a newer Mythic+ ranking, a larger raid sample, more completed high keys, and a finished Race to World First.
Remains the clearest top Mythic+ healer. The current Wowhead Season 2 update keeps Holy Paladin alone in S tier for keys.
Still one of the safest group-building choices. Its value comes from reliable healing plus Bloodlust, Skyfury, purge, a short-cooldown interrupt, poison cleansing, and Spirit Link.
Preservation remains elite in raid and strong in organized keys, but its 30-yard healing range and positioning requirements keep it below Holy Paladin in general Mythic+ play.
We are correcting the previous A-tier M+ placement. The September 10 Wowhead update places Mistweaver in B tier: strong damage and utility, but not as complete during the hardest healing checks.
Holy remains a strong raid healer, but its dungeon toolkit is less complete than the leading specs. We now separate its excellent raid value from its lower Mythic+ placement.
Disc remains a high-value organized raid healer. In Mythic+, the lack of poison removal and its setup-heavy healing profile keep it below the top dungeon options.
Next tuning watch: Blizzard's published Season 2 roadmap lists September 22 as the next planned class-tuning pass. We will re-check every placement after those changes are live instead of pre-emptively ranking around announced-but-not-yet-live tuning.

This combined ranking is for players choosing one healer for both raid progression and weekly Mythic+ keys. It rewards specs that are excellent in one format while remaining strong enough in the other.
Holy Paladin is the strongest dungeon-first choice and still useful in raid. Preservation Evoker is the strongest raid-first choice and remains a strong coordinated-key healer.
The most flexible all-purpose healer: excellent utility, dependable healing, strong raid cooldowns, and an easy fit in many Mythic+ compositions.
All four are viable for progression and high keys, but each gives up more in one format than the S- and A-tier choices.

Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ Healer Tier List
For Mythic+, we weight emergency recovery, sustained healing, tank and priority-target healing, mana efficiency, healer damage, dispels, stops, group utility, durability, and pug reliability. Season 2 includes frequent poison pressure and several encounters with heavy spot-healing requirements, so a healer's toolkit matters as much as raw HPS.
The safest total package for difficult keys: powerful burst recovery, externals, immunity, combat resurrection, poison coverage, mitigation, and priority healing.
Shaman solves composition problems with utility; Preservation brings exceptional burst and damage when the group plays around its range and setup.
Capable specs with clear strengths, but less complete than the top three for the current dungeon pool.
Strong raw healing and an easy reactive model, but less dungeon utility and weaker answers to several Season 2 composition requirements.
Best Mythic+ healer
Holy Paladin has the most complete high-key safety profile. Its cooldowns can prevent deaths that raw throughput alone cannot fix, while Intercession adds a combat resurrection to the healer slot.
Best group utility healer
Restoration Shaman is the easiest healer to add when a composition has holes. Poison Cleansing Totem is especially valuable in the current dungeon pool.

The Venomous Abyss Raid Healer Tier List
Raid healing rewards planned throughput, raid cooldowns, externals, movement, range, mana, damage prevention, and required raid buffs. This is why raid and Mythic+ rankings should not be merged blindly: a spec can be excellent in progression while being only average in keys.
The strongest dedicated raid profile in Season 2: frequent burst windows, Rewind, Time Spiral, Zephyr, strong throughput, and utility that can be stacked.
Disc brings planned ramps and damage, Holy brings strong sustained and spot healing, and Shaman rounds out rosters with Spirit Link, movement tools, and reliable throughput.
All three are progression-viable and can be ideal on specific bosses or for a missing raid buff, but they are less universal than the S- and A-tier raid options.
What the World First healer cores still tell us
Liquid killed Mythic Ula'tek on September 3 with 2× Preservation Evoker, 1× Restoration Shaman, and 1× Holy Priest. Echo followed 26 minutes later with 2× Preservation Evoker, 1× Restoration Shaman, and 1× Holy Paladin. Three of four healer slots were therefore identical.

Do not copy a World First roster literally. Race compositions are built around one boss, available players, DPS-class balance, raid buffs, externals, and progression strategy. They are evidence of what can solve Mythic Ula'tek, not a universal four-healer template for every raid group.

How Gear Changes Healer Rankings
Tier lists assume comparable gear, correct talents, and a complete Season 2 setup. In real progression, a four-piece bonus, weapon item level, trinket quality, or missing secondary-stat breakpoints can create a larger gap than moving from one adjacent tier to another. This matters especially for healers because mana economy and cooldown coverage can change dramatically as gear improves.
