Need Help Clearing a WoW Raid?
Pre-release status: This guide was last verified on August 4, 2026 against the current Patch 12.1 PTR database and Blizzard’s announced Midnight Season 2 reward rules. The raid opens on August 18 in North America and August 19 in Europe. Blizzard can still change item effects, specialization eligibility or boss assignments before launch.

The Venomous Abyss loot table contains eight boss-specific reward pools, 13 currently confirmed raid trinkets, five standard tier-token encounters, the class-neutral Slumbering Coil Curio, four Venomcursed armor pieces, multiple special-effect weapons and the Primeval Skyfriend mount. This guide lists every current boss drop with an interactive Wowhead item link, then explains which encounters matter most for tier sets, trinkets, Very Rare weapons and Great Vault planning.

All 13 The Venomous Abyss Trinkets

The current raid table contains 13 trinkets. There is no responsible permanent “best trinket” ranking before live logs and final tuning: value changes by specialization, encounter duration, target count, cooldown alignment and content type. The table below therefore compares confirmed effect profiles instead of inventing a universal BiS list.

TrinketBossEffect profileLikely use
Keeper’s Seething CoreEntombed SentinelsPassive Haste effect whose activations can overlap; maintaining multiple active effects increases its value.DPS / throughput
First Mate’s ShellwardThe Lost ExplorersDefensive absorb that becomes substantially stronger at low health and retaliates against melee attackers.Tank / survival
Gebbo’s Bottomless BagThe Lost ExplorersProvides changing secondary-stat artifacts, making its value dependent on the result and current stat needs.Adaptive utility
Vashnik’s Sanguine RancorVashnik the MalignantAgility damage effect that builds stacks and changes behavior between multi-target pressure and a single-target damage-over-time effect.Agility DPS
Fang of Umbral MalignanceVashnik the MalignantIntellect damage-over-time effect that stacks on one target and can burst or spread when the target dies.Intellect DPS
Sszorak’s FerocitySszorakStrength-based physical attack effect that scales with nearby enemies and gains a predictable trigger after a kill.Strength DPS
Idol of the Howling NexusSszorakRewards avoidance with Strength or Agility and movement speed; includes a fallback trigger after a period without avoiding an attack.Melee / tank
Preternatural AntivenomThe Twin FangsHealer-oriented effect that restores a large portion of recent damage taken, up to its listed cap.Healer
Vexhul’s Everflowing GlandThe Twin FangsIntellect on-use damage that is stronger against high-health targets; kills can reduce its cooldown.Intellect DPS
Hex Lord’s Dooming IdolThe Coiled AltarBuilds a stacking negative state before converting it into a temporary Intellect window.Intellect DPS
Zul’jin’s Guillotine TechniqueThe Coiled AltarStrength/Agility proc and one component of the Bite of Zul’jan three-item set.Strength / Agility DPS
Font of Venomous RageUla’tekMastery trinket with a four-minute on-use Nature-damage burst that can hit multiple targets, with reduced efficiency beyond its target cap.DPS burst
Voracious Heart of Ula’tekUla’tekCritical Strike trinket with a 90-second on-use Strength/Agility window that ramps through attacks.Strength / Agility DPS

Planning rule: do not spend a Nebulous Voidcore solely because a trinket drops from a later boss. Compare the live tooltip, simulations for your specialization and the item’s behavior in the content you actually play. A four-minute burst trinket and a passive proc trinket can have very different real-world value even at the same item level.

The Bite of Zul’jan Item Set

Zul’jin’s Guillotine Technique is connected to the Bite of Zul’jan set together with Aman’muso, Warlord’s Vengeance and Maze-roa, Warlord’s Fury. Equipping two pieces activates the current set interaction, allowing the guillotine effect to ricochet and summon Venomfang. This makes the trinket materially more valuable for eligible users of either paired weapon than its standalone tooltip suggests.

Very Rare and Special-Effect Weapons

The final wing contains the raid’s most strategically important weapon targets. Very Rare items are not automatically best for every specialization, but their unique effects and enhanced final-wing reward treatment make them high-priority simulation targets.

WeaponSourceCurrent classification or reason to track
Aman’muso, Warlord’s VengeanceThe Coiled AltarVery Rare weapon and Bite of Zul’jan set component
Maze-roa, Warlord’s FuryThe Coiled AltarVery Rare weapon and Bite of Zul’jan set component

Abyssal Broodfiend’s BardicheUla’tekFinal-boss weapon at the highest direct Mythic item-level bracket
Caustic Repose GreatbowUla’tekFinal-boss ranged weapon
Jaw of the Shackled GoddessUla’tekFinal-boss weapon

Weapon eligibility depends on the selected loot specialization. Set your intended loot specialization before the relevant boss pull and recheck it before opening targeted or weekly rewards.

Ula’tek Venomcursed Cantrip Armor

Ula’tek currently drops four Venomcursed armor pieces with supported special effects. These are not ordinary stat sticks: their value depends on the cantrip effect, secondary-stat distribution and whether the slot competes with an essential tier piece.

Under Blizzard’s announced Midnight Season 2 Catalyst rules, converted class-set armor inherits the original item’s secondary stats, and supported special effects can remain after conversion. This specifically makes eligible Ula’tek Venomcursed pieces relevant to tier planning rather than automatically disposable when they occupy a tier slot.

Before converting one, compare the live cantrip effect, your two-piece and four-piece breakpoints, the alternative tier item and the cost of using the Catalyst on that slot. See every class bonus in our Midnight Season 2 Tier Set Guide.

Venom-Themed Jewelry and Deadly Venom Effects

Five jewelry pieces are tied to the raid’s venom theme. Their current effects are designed to interact with Deadly Venom or the connected Season 2 environment, so they may have encounter-specific defensive value even when another ring or neck wins in a pure damage simulation.

Sentinel’s Vitriolic ChainEntombed SentinelsNeck
Vile Alchemist’s BandVashnik the MalignantRing
Apex Brute’s Claw RingSszorakRing
Amulet of the Twin FangsThe Twin FangsNeck
Aqirbane ReliquaryUla’tekJewelry

Do not assume that multiple Deadly Venom reductions stack unless the live tooltip or combat testing confirms it. Treat these items as encounter tools first and universal BiS jewelry only when current simulations support that conclusion.

Tier-Set Tokens and Class Groups

Five encounters drop standard armor-class tokens. Ula’tek instead drops the class-neutral Slumbering Coil Curio, which can be exchanged for a tier-set armor slot of the player’s choice.

The most efficient tier route is not always “farm the earliest token boss.” Prioritize the slot that completes your next two-piece or four-piece breakpoint, then use the Great Vault, Catalyst and Slumbering Coil Curio to reduce duplicate risk.

Great Vault Rewards and Nebulous Voidcore Targeting

The raid row of the Great Vault unlocks after 2, 4 and 6 eligible boss kills. Story Mode does not count. Direct boss drops and Great Vault items use different reward rules.

Qualifying raid difficultyCurrent starting Great Vault reward
Raid FinderChampion 1/6, item level 292

HeroicMyth 1/6, item level 318
Standard Mythic bossesMyth 6/6, item level 334
Eligible Very Rare items and final-two-boss Mythic lootMyth 9 equivalent, item level 344

Nebulous Voidcores are available as a Great Vault alternative. Under the announced Season 2 rules, targeting an eligible raid item costs one Voidcore instead of two. That makes specific tier pieces, rare weapons and high-impact trinkets more realistic long-term targets, but eligibility still matters.

Best practice: reach six eligible raid kills when practical, keep your loot specialization correct, and spend a Voidcore only after checking the live item pool. Use our Midnight Season 2 Gearing Guide to combine raid, Mythic+, Delves, crafting and Catalyst upgrades.

Weekly Loot Priority Checklist

  1. Complete the highest difficulty you can clear reliably. A consistent full Heroic clear can outperform a short Mythic lockout that misses token bosses and Vault thresholds.
  2. Reach 2, 4 or 6 eligible kills. Six kills unlock all three raid choices in the Great Vault.
  3. Target the tier slot that completes a set breakpoint. Completing four-piece is generally more important than collecting an isolated sidegrade.
  4. Confirm loot specialization before every target boss. This is critical for weapons and role-specific trinkets.
  5. Sim special-effect items. Very Rare does not mean universally best.
  6. Reserve Voidcores for difficult-to-replace items. Rare weapons, decisive trinkets and missing tier slots usually provide more durable value than a minor armor upgrade.
  7. Recheck hotfixes. PTR tooltips and launch-week tuning can change quickly.

Ula’tek Collectibles and Additional Rewards

Ula’tek is more than a gear boss. The encounter also provides the Primeval Skyfriend on Mythic difficulty. Blizzard’s announced launch rule states that the mount is guaranteed to all raid members who defeat Mythic Ula’tek; it is not described as a single random roll under that rule.

Players can review the reward separately in our Primeval Skyfriend guide or compare the available Primeval Skyfriend service.

The Venomous Abyss Loot FAQ

How many trinkets drop in The Venomous Abyss?

The current PTR boss tables contain 13 raid trinkets. Nek’zali does not currently list a trinket; the remaining encounters provide one or two each.

What item level does The Venomous Abyss drop?

Raid Finder drops item level 279–289, Normal 292–302, Heroic 305–315 and Mythic 318–344. The Coiled Altar and Ula’tek currently provide item level 344 Mythic drops.

Which bosses drop tier tokens?

Entombed Sentinels drop hands, The Lost Explorers shoulders, Vashnik chest, Sszorak legs and The Twin Fangs head. Ula’tek drops the Slumbering Coil Curio for a tier slot of the player’s choice.

Which bosses drop Very Rare weapons?

The Coiled Altar drops Aman’muso, Warlord’s Vengeance and Maze-roa, Warlord’s Fury. Ula’tek drops Zatha’tek, Breath of Corruption and Jan’thrazet, the Soul Fang.

What are the best Venomous Abyss trinkets?

There is no reliable universal ranking before final tuning and live logs. Compare the effect profile with your specialization, encounter type and cooldown plan. A trinket’s boss position alone does not make it BiS.

Can Ula’tek cantrip armor become a tier piece?

Under the announced Season 2 Catalyst rules, eligible converted armor retains its original secondary stats and supported special effects. Confirm the live item’s eligibility before converting it.

How many raid kills unlock the Great Vault?

The three raid slots unlock after 2, 4 and 6 eligible boss kills. Story Mode does not count.

Is Primeval Skyfriend a random Mythic drop?

Blizzard’s announced launch rule makes Primeval Skyfriend a guaranteed reward for all raid members from Mythic Ula’tek. This rule can change in a later season, so the official live reward text remains authoritative.

Why do the item links use PTR URLs?

The raid is still in its pre-launch period as of August 4, 2026. PTR item pages currently provide the most complete public database. The links should be migrated to live Wowhead URLs after the raid launches and the item records move to the live database.

Verification and Update Changelog

  • August 4, 2026: Rebuilt the full loot table with current item IDs, interactive Wowhead links, all 13 confirmed trinkets, tier-token class groups, final item-level brackets, Great Vault rules, Voidcore targeting, Venomcursed armor and corrected Primeval Skyfriend availability.
  • Next required check: After the August 18/19 raid launch, verify live Dungeon Journal assignments, tooltip tuning, specialization eligibility, set interactions and replace PTR links with live item URLs where available.
