In World of Warcraft: Midnight Season 2, Mythic+ Rating is earned separately for each dungeon and increases with the keystone level, the number of active affixes and your completion time. Your overall dungeon rating is built from your strongest recorded runs, while the rating shown in the Group Finder and on Raider.IO can use different presentation rules. The important distinction is that Blizzard’s in-game rating and Raider.IO score are related measurements, not the same system.
How Mythic+ Rating Is Calculated
Each completed Mythic+ dungeon awards a rating value. The result is based on three factors:
- Keystone level: Higher keys award more rating.
- Affixes: Additional affixes increase the base value of the run.
- Completion time: Finishing faster than the timer adds rating, while finishing late reduces it.
The rating is attached to the specific dungeon you completed. A high score in one dungeon does not directly increase your score in another dungeon, although it does contribute to your overall seasonal rating.
Base Rating by Keystone Level
The following values show the commonly used Raider.IO base score for a run completed exactly on time before the speed adjustment is applied. This is not a guaranteed final score for every run because the completion time and current seasonal scoring rules also affect the result.
| Keystone | Base score before time adjustment | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| +2 | 155 | Entry-level Mythic+ |
| +3 | 170 | Early progression |
| +4 | 185 | Early progression |
| +5 | 200 | Low-level seasonal progression |
| +6 | 215 | Low-level seasonal progression |
| +7 | 230 | Intermediate progression |
| +8 | 245 | Intermediate progression |
| +9 | 260 | Intermediate progression |
| +10 | 275 | Higher seasonal progression |
| +11 | 290 | Higher seasonal progression |
| +12 | 305 | High-level progression |
| +13 and higher | Continues increasing with key level | Advanced and competitive progression |
These values are best treated as a reference for understanding the scoring curve rather than as a promise of the exact number displayed after a run. Raider.IO’s published base values are updated when its scoring model changes, and the in-game score can present the result differently.
How Completion Time Changes the Score
The timer does more than determine whether your keystone upgrades. It also changes the rating awarded for the run.
- Timed run: You receive the base rating plus a time bonus or a smaller adjustment depending on how quickly you finish.
- Late run: You still receive partial rating after completing the dungeon, but the result is reduced according to how far over the timer you finish.
- Very late run: The score can become substantially lower than the value of a timed run at the same key level.
- Abandoned or failed run: A run that is not completed does not provide a normal completed-dungeon rating increase.
In practical terms, a fast +9 can be worth more than a barely completed +9, but it normally will not replace the rating potential of a significantly higher key. A timed key is therefore valuable for both progression and score, while an untimed key can still be useful for learning mechanics, improving a route or upgrading a keystone.
Does Timing a Key Matter More Than Upgrading It?
For rating, both factors matter. A higher keystone has a higher starting value, but completing it substantially over time reduces the final score. If your goal is to improve your rating efficiently, prioritize a higher key that your group can realistically finish within the timer rather than repeatedly attempting keys that are far beyond your current success rate.
Do not confuse a key being upgraded with a score increase of the same size. A dungeon completed with a two- or three-level upgrade improves the keystone for your next run, but the rating calculation is based on the key level and completion time, not simply on the number of upgrades displayed at the end.

How Dungeon Rating Is Calculated
Your dungeon rating is the score associated with one specific Mythic+ dungeon. It is generally based on your highest-scoring run for that dungeon during the current season.
For example, if your best runs are:
- +10 in Dungeon A for 278 rating,
- +9 in Dungeon B for 264 rating,
- +8 in Dungeon C for 251 rating,
your dungeon ratings are 278, 264 and 251 respectively. A slower +10 can remain below a faster +9 if the time adjustment is large enough, although the higher key usually has the greater rating potential.
Can a Lower Key Replace a Higher Key?
Only if the lower key produces a higher score through a better completion time or a scoring rule that favors that run. Your rating does not automatically use the highest keystone level; it uses the highest-scoring eligible run for the dungeon.
Running a lower key cannot normally reduce your established seasonal rating. If it does not beat your current best score for that dungeon, it simply does not replace it.
How Overall Mythic+ Rating Is Calculated
Overall rating is calculated by adding the strongest scoring run from each dungeon in the current Mythic+ season.
The simplified formula is:
Overall Mythic+ Rating = best scoring run in Dungeon 1 + best scoring run in Dungeon 2 + best scoring run in every other seasonal dungeon
This means that repeating the same dungeon has diminishing value once a new run no longer beats your existing score. To raise your overall rating, you usually need to improve one of the following:
- Your best key level in a dungeon.
- Your completion time in a dungeon you have already cleared.
- A dungeon where your current score is significantly below the rest of your seasonal profile.
- A dungeon played under a more favorable affix combination, if the current scoring season distinguishes those runs.
Overall rating is not an average. A single weak dungeon score can lower your total, but it does not multiply or penalize every other dungeon.
How Different Affixes Affect Mythic+ Rating
Affixes are part of the rating model because they increase the difficulty of the dungeon. As additional affixes become active at higher key levels, the base score rises accordingly.
Midnight Season 2 uses the seasonal Mythic+ affix structure for the current dungeon tier. The exact affix attached to a key is relevant to difficulty and route planning, but the rating system primarily counts the applicable affix level rather than rewarding a particular affix as a personal bonus.
Do not assume that a difficult weekly affix automatically gives extra rating beyond the current scoring rules. A run awards the value defined by the season’s rating system, not a subjective difficulty assessment.
Do You Need to Run Every Affix or Weekly Variant?
You need to complete the dungeons that are part of the current season, but you do not necessarily need to repeat every dungeon under every weekly condition to build a strong score. Whether a second run is worthwhile depends on how the season’s scoring system treats alternate affix configurations and whether that run can replace your current best result.
For normal progression, focus first on raising the score of every dungeon. After that, target the dungeons where a faster clear or a higher key can produce the largest improvement.
Blizzard Mythic+ Rating and Raider.IO Score
Blizzard’s Mythic+ Rating appears in the in-game Mythic+ interface and is used for seasonal achievements, dungeon progress and Group Finder information. Raider.IO imports Blizzard’s Mythic+ run data and processes it through its own score and ranking system.
| System | What it measures | Where it is used |
|---|---|---|
| Blizzard Mythic+ Rating | Seasonal dungeon rating based on completed runs | Character panel, Group Finder and seasonal achievements |
| Raider.IO score | Third-party score derived from recorded Mythic+ runs | Raider.IO website, addon tooltips and recruitment |
| Dungeon best | Your strongest score in one particular dungeon | Evaluating experience in the listed dungeon |
| Overall score | The combined value of your best scores across the season’s dungeons | General seasonal progression and group applications |
The two systems often look similar because they use the same underlying run data, but the displayed numbers should not be assumed to match exactly. A group leader may also consider your highest key, timed keys, dungeon-specific experience and role history in addition to the headline score.
Why Your Score Has Not Increased
If a completed dungeon does not raise your rating, one of these explanations is usually responsible:
- The run was below your existing best score for that dungeon.
- The key was lower than your current best and was not fast enough to replace it.
- The run was completed too far over time to produce a meaningful improvement.
- The run has not yet appeared in the Blizzard leaderboard data used by the external score service.
- Your addon or Raider.IO database has not refreshed.
- You are looking at a previous-season score rather than the current Midnight Season 2 score.
External services do not always update immediately after a dungeon ends. If a run is missing, first reload the game and allow the relevant leaderboard or addon data to refresh. Then compare the dungeon-specific run rather than only checking the overall score.
Previous-Season Scores and Season Transitions
Mythic+ scores are seasonal. A previous-season score demonstrates earlier experience, but it does not replace your current-season dungeon progress.
Raider.IO can continue displaying a previous-season score during the early part of a new season. Its addon documentation states that the current-season score becomes the primary displayed score after reaching a threshold relative to the previous season’s score. This presentation rule belongs to Raider.IO and should not be confused with Blizzard’s current-season achievement progress.
When judging a player for Midnight Season 2, check the season label, the individual dungeon scores and the highest completed keys instead of relying on one rounded number.
How to Increase Mythic+ Rating Efficiently
- Complete every seasonal dungeon at least once. A missing dungeon contributes no score to your seasonal total.
- Replace the weakest dungeon scores first. Improving a low score usually gives more total rating than farming a dungeon where you are already close to your ceiling.
- Prioritize timed upgrades. A higher timed key generally provides a larger improvement than a much slower clear at the same level.
- Use your own key when the group finder is slow. This lets you choose the dungeon instead of waiting for an invitation to a specific key.
- Track dungeon-specific experience. Group leaders commonly look at the score for the dungeon they are listing, not just your overall rating.
- Do not abandon reasonable untimed runs. A completed dungeon can provide useful rating, a better route, and experience for a later timed attempt.
What Mythic+ Rating Does Not Measure
Mythic+ Rating is a useful progression indicator, but it is not a complete performance analysis. It does not directly show:
- Your damage, healing or defensive usage.
- Whether you understand a specific boss mechanic.
- Your ability to interrupt, dispel or control priority targets.
- How well you perform in a particular role.
- Whether a run succeeded because of strong individual play or an unusually experienced group.
For a more accurate assessment, combine the score with dungeon-specific experience, timed-key history, role information and the requirements of the group you are joining.
Key Points for Midnight Season 2
- Higher keystones award more rating.
- Completion time modifies the score in both directions.
- Each dungeon has its own rating.
- Your overall rating combines your best scoring runs across the seasonal dungeon pool.
- A failed or lower-scoring run does not normally reduce your established best score.
- Blizzard’s in-game rating and Raider.IO score are related but not identical.
- For group applications, dungeon-specific experience is often more useful than overall rating alone.
